I purchased these bulbs for a pendant lamp over our dining room table. The light is right over my seat and I felt like I was getting the third degree every time we had dinner. These bulbs certainly solved that problem. I am now quite comfortable sitting right under the light. The only problem is that too much of the light is blocked by the silver coating. I was thinking that light would be reflected back by the coating. I purchased 60 watt bulbs. 100 watt probably would have been a better choice.

I purchased this because I have a reading lamp with a very open shade that exposes the bulb. A regular bulb kind of hurt my eyes to look at but this solved the problem. Pottery Barn sells these but they are a bit more expensive and their shipping is ridiculous.

I bought the package of 10. I needed only 5 but th eprice was good. Its a good thing it came as a 10 though. The first 5 flickered lower and lower and went dead within 2 months. I already had 5 more so I used them. If all of the first 5 died then I can guess that the other 5 will last 2 months also. If that happens I will be looking for more bulbs which means more money. Is this a good deal or not? I would say No, because they dont have longevity. It may be better to find another manufacturer and look at reviews for something that lasts longer. Just my opinion, I could be wrong.

Bulbs were of a very inferior quality.....flicker was often almost a non-existent flicker, leaving the filament lit. Bulbs burned out after an extremely short length of time. I found flicker bulbs from a different manufacturer that were more expensive and were worth the extra cost. They were reliable. Seek a different brand.

I have been looking for these light bulbs for over a year. Never thought of looking on Amazon! Well I finally did and these are just the right size for my Halloween chandelier. The bulbs that came with it are small, like a nightlight size. But these are huge and look so much better. The base fits so that's all that matters. Good thing they are a pack of 10 because 2 didn't work and 1 came broke. The packing was horrible. I'm surprised more weren't broken. But thankfully they were not. Overall, I am pleased with my purchase.

I have a basement bathroom with a very dark, enclosed shower. The only available light is that which can filter through the shower curtain from the main bathroom. I bought this and mounted it high on the wall out of the main water splash level. Now, whenever you step into the shower, the light automatically comes on and stays on while you are moving around in the shower. It shuts itself off about a minute after you step out. We've had it installed now about a year and are still on the same two AA batteries!

Good size. I like the fact that the batteries are located in front part just below the LED bulbs. Genius. That way, if you need to change batteries, you don't need to unscrew or unglue the back portion of the unit. Downside is the double-sided tape loses adhesion when exposed to sunlight. It has dropped a few occasions and have to screw it into the wall instead. Good value. Sensor range not far though. Just a couple of feet at most.

I've purchased quite a few different models of motion lights here on Amazon, from cheap 4$ ones to the more pricier ones at 15$ each. At a bit over 7$ per light, I found these to be the best bang-for-your-buck.

Some important things to consider when buying these lights is the quality of their sensors and microcontrollers. When something is wrong with either of these, your light's behavior will become erratic. I've had normal working lights turn off way earlier than they're supposed to, become insensitive or hypersensitive to motion, stop sensing motion completely, ignore daylight, or even reset while in operation.

These lights don't have any of those problems because of higher quality components. Don't get me wrong, the materials and finish are on the lower end easily scratched and will crack if dropped... but for me, those are way less important than the functionality.

They actually STAY ON if motion is still detected (many lights on here on Amazon claim to do this, but actually turn off after their set time and then turn back on after a few seconds if it still senses motion). If set to "Night" mode, they will not turn on if the surrounding light is bright enough (another thing many lights claim to do but do not).

A big bonus is that these are quite bright just 1 of them on the ceiling of my laundry room is enough for me to see what I'm doing.

And best of all, these only use 2 AA batteries each as opposed to the 4 AAA that most other units require.

All in all, I'm glad I found these. It's sad that such a solid, useful, better product like this is harder to find than the crappier motion lights on Amazon. They will be my go-to motion lights until a better model comes out!

EDIT 9/22/2013: One of my lights dropped 7 feet down onto concrete ground by accident (I have an unfinished basement). Unbelievably, the unit still works. There is a crack in the clear plastic cover, but the light still works flawlessly. I certainly did not expect it to survive a fall onto hard ground from that high up. Good stuff.

I just a couple of these there as bright or a little brighter than most of those LED flashlights they have a off auto on switch on one side and daylight or night switch on the other side. I set these to auto & night stuck one on the porch ceiling and one on the kitchen ceiling when you get within about 10-15' from them they turn on except during daylight and they stay on while your under them, they light up around a 20' circle there not bright enough to read the paper like a 5-10 watt bulb, but you can see around the hole room and you can see the light switches if you need a brighter light and they stay on about 30 seconds after you leave so when you walk down the hall they turn on as you get close and stay on as you leave and you don't have to run wires or anything. I'm going to put some more in the rest of the rooms in house. I have some other types I got on amazon that don't have the day night setting and there grate except the one over the front door the batteries only lasted a week and the ones in the kitchen lasted around 2 weeks but these are still as bright as when I put them up 2 weeks ago.

A couple days ago lighting knocked out the power and it was great not having to run around in the dark looking for flash lights as I walk through the house the light worked just the same.

There not as good as sliced bread but you could see the bread, So you could slice it if you wanted to.

I like this light. It has shortcomings and isn't "perfect". It will be great for camping! The light itself isn't too bad. It is less than $20 and uses AAA batteries, along with the "special" large mah rated batteries. This is the main reason I purchased it, because my full-size MagLite is heavy and large for backpack camping and hunting.

Brightness:

I purchased this after seeing a friend's similar 1000lm light. I figured 1800 > 1000 right...? The major issue I have with this light is how that light fails to be transmitted through the lens. There is no mirrored parabolic dish, so moving the lens away from the LED focuses the light beam in such a way that it "clarifies" the light... The "zoom" feature (a movable lens) isn't the same as a zoom on say a Maglite flashlight. What this means is that at the 1x "zoom" you can actually see an image of the square LED on the wall... clear enough to see the circuitry! Add to this that you have virtually no "cone" of light around the bright center. This is a bit distracting because the spaces in-between the LED circuits are displayed against the wall, making a projected shadow effect as if someone were covering the light with a mesh screen. This projected shadow works against the whole idea of projecting an intense beam of light! It appears to block the light, making it very distracting and difficult to quickly distinguish what you are viewing. The light should have been built to prevent a "1x zoom" because at about mid-range the image is blurred, making a more consistent field of light. Ideally it should have been "3x 2000x" zoom.

Another effect of the lack of parabolic mirrored finish on this light is that the LED, being a grid of squares, projects a SQUARE light. This looks strange in a round light field, but it only a distraction. Minor nitpick.

When you zoom "out" (up to x2000 according to the legend) you get a wide field of dispersed light with no highly focused center... the edges of the field are as bright as the center. This is VERY useful for camping/outdoors use! However the light intensity appears to be dispersed... leaving you with less than 1800lm brightness. Compared to my friend's 1000lm light with a mirrored parabolic reflector, and this light appears dim. HOWEVER, my friend's light is a fixed pattern that has no "zoom" feature. The mirrored dish on his 1000lm AND on my MagLites provide both a large field of light that has a focused center. The trade-off of this zoom feature (less intensity vs. fixed zoom) should be considered. Having both styles of lights, this zoom feature will be a nice addition to my camping gear.

The "reflector" around the LED is extremely shallow and not polished. The mold marks from the machining process are clearly visible, like tracks on a record. This means that for every raised machining groove facing the light, there is a groove in-between that is not reflecting the light outward. Futhermore, mine has what appear to be glue smudges that further exasperate the issue.

Waterproofing:

===============

The "waterproof" feature on mine is questionable... when unscrewing the lens to wipe it clean, there is plainly a recess for an O-ring that is not present. You can see small dimples in the metal cap that push into the side of the lens (or recesses in the lens) It appears the only thing preventing water from touching the LED's is the pressure of the screw cap, and the pressure from the "dimples" around the lens. There does not appear to be any gasket or waterproofing compound around the lens, so I think that "dimple " pressure around the lens is the only thing holding it in place. I question what would happen if this were dropped and the lens was slightly jarred... I think this will be OK in a damp camping environment, but if water gets past the lens "dimples" or the threads, then the LED's will be immersed in water and the light will probably fail. Some rubber cement should fix this problem. I plan to get an O-ring from a local hardware store to address this issue. The rear of the unit has a rubberized button cover that should hold up to damp water, but doesn't appear to be water-tight if left immersed. The battery compartment O-ring is present. The front of the light moves to provide the "zoom"... there appears to be an O-ring in-between the pieces of the light to prevent water entry.

Batteries:

Batteries this is one of the few "super bright" lights that can use standard sized batteries. My initial testing was done with AAA rechargables. Thinking my dim light issues could be due to the batteries, I purchased an Ultrafire 18650 (3000mah) battery, charged it, and... same behavior. The light does NOT appear brighter with the 18650. However I have yet to determine how long the batteries last on full charge... that is a future test :) The size of the light allows for the larger 26650 battery. I plan to try that as well. These batteries all appear to have control circuitry to regulate output to prevent LED damage, leading me to believe they will provide longer battery life and will not affect the brilliance...

Pressure Switches:

Pressure switches this is a multi-mode light. Meaning every time you toggle it on, you are moving it to the next mode: High-Medium-Low-Flashing-SOS. There is no way to "fix" it to a certain mode, making this useless for any weapon or equipment-mounting solution. Even if you were to use it for a remote mount solution, there is no remote switch. The "Remote Pressure Switch for UltraFire C8 CREE Q5 / R5 / T6 LED Torch Flashlight" DOES NOT WORK! The threads don't match. The only information on the light is "UltraFire XML-T6". So far there are no remote switches for this light.

What else is there to say? There are no-name copies of this avaiable on auction sites that come with the battery and charger for the same amount of money, but all the reviews of the off-brand batteries they come with indicate you are getting what you pay for... I prefer to pay only a few extra dollars to have the name-brand stuff that has proven to perform better. This thing is pretty inexpensive to start with! The overall size and weight of the light is nice. It is larger than 1" diameter, closer to 1 3/8". The included lanyard is nice. The knurled grip surface is deep and provides a very positive grip.

I like this light. I will to keep this in my backpack with some spare batteries for camping and hunting use where my huge D-cell MagLite used to be. To restate:

Not a bad light by itself

Doesn't compare in brightniess to some of the other "super bright" lights

Small, portable, economical.

Multi-mode

No remote switch option

Can use AAA batteries in a pinch! >>>> HUGE win for my needs!!!!!!

To UltraFire:

If I were to change one thing, I would put a parabolic mirror on it and limit the range of the zoom feature!

If I were to change two things, I would also make a single-mode version with remote switching option for weapon/equipment mounting use.

The maximum brightness of an XML-T6 emitter is 1000 lumens rated by Cree and the nominal brightness is 800 Lumens so unless this is a magic light it is not possible to get 1800 Lumens out of an emitter that's max output is 1000! I've been selling flashlights for over 10 years and build my own and can say with confidence that this light puts out a max of 5 or 600 lumens max if you're lucky and have high amperage batteries. The zoom feature magnifies the light to make it seem brighter by condensing it but if you put it next to a real 1800 Lumen light with a SMO (mirrored reflector) it would amaze you what a real 1800 lumen light looks like.

The lumen rating is ridiculous; it's fraudulently overstated. This flashlight is slightly brighter than a generic 200-lumen flashlight that I purchased at Sam's club ($20 for a 3-pack) Also, the tail clicker has no memory. it turns on at the next setting, you will have to cycle through settings every time you turn it on. Don't waste your money on this lousy light.

I have an 800 lumen flashlight and was excited to find this one at 1000 more lumens at $18.98. Upon receiving it, however, I was totally disappointed. It is much dimmer than my 800 lumen one. I had intended to use it to see on a bike, but I don't even find it safe to use it for being seen. When I turned it on at 'high' on my bike, pedestrians walking around didn't even notice. When contacting the seller for return, they said this low price is promotional--in other words, it's cheap not because it's a fake... They ask me to ship it back to China at my own expense. Knowing how expensive the int'l shipping is, they sure can make some money selling a misrepresented product absolutely one-way.

Addendum: Just saw this response the seller Highly posted to a buyer feedback: " Please use 3AAA battery, the torch will be more bright. Exceeded 1800 lumens! ! !"

Delivery took less than the predicted time, but still took 4 1/2 weeks, however, they traveled half way around the world.

Color is excellent. It is a nice perceived white without a blue cast or obvious yellowing.

They are about 1/2" longer and 3/16" larger in diameter (about 4.5" x 1.5") than the common blunt tip 60W incandescent candelabra bulb. They fit my fixtures, but if yours are tight, you should check.

The measured light output is half of the blunt tip 60w incandescent bulb (72 lux vs 139 lux) mentioned earlier. Their light output is also about 5 lux less than an equal power consumption 7W enclosed, small-base CFL. So, the claimed output is not even close to what I need for the 2 ceiling fans in which I hoped to use them. It is also well below the claimed output during in home use.

The lights are not equivalent to 60w and are not 3000K. They may be equivalent to 25W and 2700K. I feel completely cheated. Do not trust the description.Such light bulbs could be bought in the US at a much lower price. What a gross rip-off!

I received the item on time, yet some of the metal sockets which shape the bulb were actually snapped in half in the box. I contacted them to which a response took over a week. I got these inexpensive lights to hang outside for a party. They would not hold up in bad weather, but worked o.k. for me. They are basically a string of white Christmas-type lights that come with paper globes supported by a simple wire frame. Not very strong or well made, but they work.

Unpackaging:

These lanterns do come folded up but there is one extra lantern that comes unfolded. Thankfully this was an extra because when I took it out, I noticed it had been squished and had a tear in it. Like I said, it's an extra so I set that aside just in case I broke one.. which I didn't! That means there is a total of 11 lanterns, 10 for the lights and 1 extra for demonstration or back up. I myself did not have a hard time unfolding the lanterns. I noticed some people saying that the lanterns were not easy to unfold or they ripped or tore or it took too long to put together and here's my opinion; take your time!

Assembly:

1: gently "open up" one of the lanterns, you don't need to stretch it out too much because the metal bar will do that part for you.

2: (Do this part carefully!) Slightly bend the little metal rings on the top of the lantern upward, not too much but I noticed that these rings were flattened during packaging and they are supposed to be slightly pointed at about a 20 degree angle. They should not be flat, and you'll notice why when you try to put the square metal frame in.

3: I recommend before you put the frames inside the lantern, that you slightly squeeze the U shape in the top of the frame to be closer together. This U is supposed to fit snuggly around the base of a light (the base of the light will have two flat sides to help slide the U shape on) but some of my frames had wider shaped U's so the lantern would just fall right off when I went to hang the string up. After spending a few more minutes squeezing the U's to fit tighter, the lanterns stayed on just fine and I found it was only a little bit harder to slip the lanterns onto the lights.

4: Put the square metal frame into the top of the lantern (The top of the lantern is where the metal rings are.) The U shape of the frame should be facing upward and the flat part of the frame should rest against the bottom of the inside of the lantern. You can't put the frame through the bottom of the lantern because that hole is supposed to be too small for the frame or else the frame would just fall through and wouldn't keep the lantern open. Just slip the frame in through the opening to the side of the rings or through the opening in the center of the rings and then turn it. The points on the ends of the top of the frame should go into the metal rings. It will be a bit of a snug fit but that is to help keep the lantern properly opened up.

Tips:

I found the best way to fit the frame into place is by holding the frame in my right hand and pinching one of the rings with my left hand. I gently pushed the frame downward while slightly pulling the metal ring upward and over the pointy end of the frame. Once I did this a couple times, the rest were a breeze and I had this thing put together in 20 minutes even while talking to someone at the same time. It didn't come with instructions but I'm the kind of person who doesn't really read them. So, just observe the pre-assembled lantern and you should be able to discover how to put it all together.

Size:

They are a tiny bit bigger than a tennis ball.

Quality:

Good quality product, some may claim it is cheap quality but that might be due to the fact that the paper and metal are thin. The lantern paper is slightly thicker than tissue paper. Of course this is to help allow light through but it also means that these can be easily torn if you are not careful during assembly. It also means that these will not hold up in bad weather so I don't reccomend them for outdoor use unless you plan to use them for only a couple of weeks. In a place that has high humidity, I imagine the paper would get a bit soggy. The plastic rings inside the lantern do help keep its shape even when you push on them. The metal is sturdy unlike some other flimsy aluminum I've found in other decorations like this. The string of lights are good quality; sturdy wiring, and no bulbs were burnt or broken, though it did come with a bag of extra lights. The lights aren't an annoyingly bright, they are a soft glow which is very relaxing or romantic. And thanks to the thin materials, they are lightweight and didn't pull down the branches of my fake "bonsai" tree.

Overall:

I am satisfied with the product, it shipped quickly, packaging was ok but the plastic tube they came in is a bit flimsy which is probably why the pre-assembled lantern was squished. I'm happy with the price, it's not too bad, and I think it was the cheapest price I could find after searching many other big name "super-store" websites and other similar products on Amazon. Plus it was available for Prime which made me happy since I wanted to add these lights onto an art project that was due in a week.

I am rating it at 4 stars because of the lack of instructions (I didn't care too much but it might upset others) and, like another reviewer said, you have to do a bit of bending and squeezing of the metal to get the frame to fit right and to keep the lanterns from falling off the lights.

One strand is great for a small area; I strung mine above the window in my dorm room. They are a great nightlight. They are made of rice paper, though, so they are easily ripped/would be destroyed outside. When they fell down one morning, I barely stepped on one of the lanterns when I woke up, and it immediately crunched. Also, you put them together yourself... you might rip one (I did) as you are figuring out just the right amount of pressure to make the metal prong fit in the sphere to make it hold its shape. Because of this, I am now missing two of the spheres and just have bare bulbs showing--I cannot find replacement spheres anywhere in this small of a diameter. Other than the frailty and the inability to locate replacements, they're a great buy for a college dorm.

I've used a variety of desk lamps in the past, most recently quartz halogen. This provided me with quite a bit of light, but it was also quite hot and the bulb, when it burned out, was not so cheap to replace. This lamp uses three rows of LEDs much cheaper to operate, last much longer (expected life 40,000 hours) as it uses 11 watts and provides several levels of light to use, both in intensity (which is variable with a touch switch) and color temperature (Kelvin). It has an intense white light (6,000 7,000K) for reading and a warmer (4,500 5,500 K) slightly less intense people will prefer one of the other, this unit has them both, plus lower intensity for, say, watching television or merely relaxing. These are all selectable with a reliable and easy to use touch switch system that is also very intuitive and easy to use. "But wait, there's more!" The USB outlet (power only) provides up to 3 more watts to charge your Kindle, Motorola Droid, iWhatever (with the appropriate adapter cord) as well. I purchased 3 foot long USB cords on Amazon (natch!) and now I have two of these lamps on the shelf over our bed we can read in bed, watch TV with lower light, while our Kindles charge.

N.B. This is actually the Diasonic DL-90, so you can also look for that product. The DL-70ISH is similar, but it has a built in iPod / iPhone charger in the base with a small speaker with variable volume. They come with a "wall wart" with replacable plug base that accepts 100 240 volts AC (output 12 VDC) so it is truly global in usability without any voltage transformer as well.

I have to say this is the best lamp I have ever had, and my wife enjoys her. Next stop, another for the desk. It's attractive and stylish as well, but mainly it provides fantastic, easily variable lighting!

This lamp is a little pricey. But the quality and usefulness just blew me away.

This is a fabulous lamp.

Very easy to use ... it has four basic settings and at each one, you can increase or lower the intensity.

I took a chance on it, and was extremely pleased.

My wife liked it and I may have to buy a second one for her ... for a while, I thought she was going to just take this one and then I would have to buy one for myself.

Sorry for being flip, but this is probably the best desk lamp I have ever had.

I wonder if they make a floor model?

My mom is pleasantly surprised as she can read for long periods of time without any eyestrain at all. She thought it was just because she was getting older but the types of light available with this product really do make such a big difference.

Setup is a breeze, you unscrew the bottom and screw it back on with the platform in between and you're ready to go. It twists at the base and then you have the vertical adjustment at the top.

Overall the product is very light but the base is stable.

Really a very nice piece of technology, it was a bit pricey but it's one of those, you get what you pay for, cases.

USB port works for charging iphone and the 1-hour feature is a nice touch. Highly recommended.

I was excited enough about this lamp that I would've thought it impossible to exceed my expectations - but it definitely did. Not only is it totally cool in function - someone finally sat down to figure out what LEDs can do that other bulbs cannot - it's just elegant in its simplicity!

Start with the packaging - very reminiscent of getting a new Mac. Even the box it comes in is so elegantly designed and made that you know right away, serious attention has been paid. Assembly takes about two seconds - another elegant piece of design. [Be aware, though, that the plug comes in two pieces, mysteriously - I spent a bit of time trying to figure out how to make the prongs come out the regulation distance, before I realized that there was one more little piece taped into the carton. Once the light dawned, another two seconds.]

The body of the light is gorgeous in its simplicity - it's made of that good, dense, sleek, Italian-looking plastic, and so slender! I'd say it's not even 2" wide, and maybe a half-inch thick. When you're not using it to make light, it folds shut and becomes a sleek little exclamation point. Its base is maybe 8" square, also slim and sleek, and heavy enough to anchor the light in whatever extended, swiveled position you put it in. The controls are like a tiny iPod angled just above the base. The "on" touch-spot is lit when the light is off, so there's no fumbling to turn it on. The four settings are also effortless, as are the arrow spots that increase or decrease brightness within each setting. There is absolutely nothing else to this lamp - it is an exercise in perfect minimalism.

I use it as a bedside lamp - for ambient light in the bedroom after sundown (nightlight setting, dimmed down), plus reading in bed. I have actually taken to ramping down the brightness of the reading setting, because it's more light than I need. From an LED light - amazing! There are three rows of LEDs on the horizontal arm, two cool, one warm, and they crank out the light like crazy in a nice broad area - this is not a stationary flashlight like my LED desk lamp (circa 2009).

I have the feeling that this is the first LED lighting fixture that is based on what LEDs can do, not just on trying to replicate what incandescents and halogens have been doing. This is not just a perfect lamp to look at and to use, it's like a piece of the future. Even the price, if you think about what a good table lamp can cost, is quite reasonable for the remarkable quality and function. And at maximum brightness, it uses 10 watts. It's wonderful.

Coolest LED lamp in the market. Could be made better, not as nice as for example apple or sony product lines.... But so far, there is no comparable substitute I know of. The switches are all flush, adding luxurious feel.

The light works well, and the timer is reliable. Considering that it uses LEDs, I'd expect the battery not to drain so quickly. But that seems par for the course for this kind of light, so I can't really complain too much.
