Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program This switch will allow your lights to turn on when a person's movement is sensed, or alternatively, turn it off when there's daylight. Its settings allow you to have the light stay on for 1,5,15, or 30 minutes after it no longer senses movement. It also has two levels of sensitivity and a test mode.

Unlike many earlier sensor switches on the market, this one works with fluorescent, incandescent and LED lights. Although it requires a ground wire, which typical standard switches may not have, it doesn't need a neutral (white) wire, unlike many sensor switches.

I placed this switch in a bathroom, where I needed one for two reasons. The light was frequently left on by mistake, and the room has fluorescent bulbs. Bulbs with CFLs inside do not favor well with short cycles, and are better off left on for a number of minutes than being switched off after a minute of being on.

One concern with a bathroom switch is the level of sensitivity. I put the switch in test mode (15 seconds) and went behind a shower curtain. The light stayed on. Likewise, it stayed on while sitting on the room's seat. I haven't had any false responses, even when turning the ceiling fan on, although it's possible for air currents to trigger the sensor.

UPDATE: I bought a second one for another room that gets light through windows during the day. The switch senses when a person is in the room and if it's dark enough, the light goes on. This is a much bigger room and I was concerned it might be a problem if the light went off with a person in it, but it seems to be working well. Another feature is that within five seconds of entering the room, you can turn it on or off, and it will learn from that. If you turn it on because it's already dark enough, it will learn to turn on earlier in the future. And if you turned it off, it would have recognized that there was enough ambient light that it should not have needed to still be on. Over time, it adjusts.

Setting the time interval is simply a matter of holding in the button until it blinks the appropriate number of times indicated in the instructions. Other (less common) settings involve a small button that's normally hidden by the switch plate. That makes setting a simple task, and the defaults (5 minutes and movement sensor mode) might be sufficient.

This uses a standard Decora switch plate, so depending on your current plate, you may or may not have to buy one. They are under a dollar at many hardware stores. I had a twin Decora plate from a previous sensor switch, but in one location I changed from a standard toggle switch and used a Leviton 2-Gang 1-Toggle 1-Decora Combination Wallplate.

Overall, this works better and is more versatile than a number of sensor switches I've used in the past. It also has a lower sensitivity setting that I haven't tested, but if this causes lights to go on too easily, that's an available option.

UPDATE: After using this switch for several months, I continue to be impressed by it, and it's the hands down winner compared to other brands I have tried. I have already bought an additional one and may buy more.

UPDATE 9/2012: This switch allows you to set the amount of time after sensing no activity before the lights turn off. My wife decided that five minutes was too long for the bathroom and had me set it to a minute. I found that if I sit perfectly still, the light will go out. A simple turn of the head or wave of a hand will switch it back on. With a five minute setting, any movement within the past five minutes will have been enough to keep things on. So if you use one in a room where you sit very still such as while working at a desk with your back to the switch and a high chair back, a short setting could leave you in the dark until you wave your arm around. Ultimately it means that it senses small movements well, but in situations where small movements might not happen for a while you will do better with a longer period before it times out. So it's not just a matter of how long you want it to stay on after you leave the room, but a matter of how much you move around in short periods of time.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I ordered this to use in a hallway, but due to the design I ended up using it in our laundry area. I find it to be simple to install, provided you have a newer house, and excellent in operation.

Design wise, it has a small sensor below a large push button switch. This switch is used to program it if desired, or to manually turn it on and off. In general I doubt the switch will be used much except for programming the device. The instructions say NOT to use this device to control a wall outlet. So it is for lights only.

Pro:

Works great once installed. When you (or a pet, etc) gets anywhere within 180 degrees, if snaps on, and stays on for 5 minutes (with adjustable off time). There are warnings that heat and moving air will activate the switch, so I expect it to be on while the dryer is running, but that is no problem for me.

It can be programmed to change the motion sensitivity, for vacancy mode (no auto on), and for how long the light stays on once it is activated (1, 5, 15, or 30 minutes).

The switch turns it on or off, so one is not dependent on the time-out.

It works fine with florescent lights.

Con:

In order to program vacation mode and the sensitivity, one has to remove the faceplate over the light switch because there is a small second switch that has to be depressed. Since I had problems installing a face plate (see below), I'm not likely to be using this feature. Programming the off delay can be easily done with the main switch.

It comes without a faceplate, so I bought one (it is a dual switch area). It was extremely hard to screw in. I think there is a problem with the thread size. But maybe I'm just clumsy! I did not deduct a star for this.

Summary: Highly recommended.

UPDATE: 30 Apr 12. A reader has updated me on the meaning of "grounding" vs. having a neutral line. This box does not require a neutral wire which is a good thing because my house has only the white, black, and green wires. I updated the review to 5 stars (it really is that good), and removed the paragraph that expressed my puzzlement with the instructions.

Best Deals for Lutron MS-OPS2-WH Maestro 250 Watt Single Pole Occupancy Sensor

First the Pros-

A great motion activated wall switch that certainly works with energy efficient CFLs, and incandescent/filament bulbs all mixed together or not.

Motion PIR is very accurate in detection and maintains good detection at a distance. i.e. Other PIRs always turn off when standing at the sink washing or when my hands were dripping water that I would not be able to wave effectively to reactivate the light.

I haven't had any problem with the Lutron.

It has many useful features too, and I find the vacancy sensor probably more useful than the occupancy mode.

Cons-

Kind of a buzz kill but where are houses built with a ground going to a wall switch plate box. I checked both my houses, Turns out it's not required or that important. Don't get confused with electrical outlets, which will always have a ground wire.

It won't work without a ground, so plan ahead. How far are you going to go to get a ground wire to that junction switch box?

And the second issue is related to why it needs a ground.

It activates a relay to turn the lights on.

No wonder it handles a variety of mixed bulbs.

I much prefer the electronic way of handling Florescent and CFLs. I realize its less rugged and can burn out easier, but at least it's silent.

So before you buy, consider that you will with hear a relay click every time you enter a room.

If you're curious about dimming ability, since the switch looks like a dimmer rocker, the above should answer your question.,

Other than that a great switch for $15.00

Honest reviews on Lutron MS-OPS2-WH Maestro 250 Watt Single Pole Occupancy Sensor

Bought this item as Lowe's for $19.99, quick and easy to install as there are two black wires, one green and a ground. The green and ground are wired to your ground wire in your wall box, so you do not need a neutral wire to install. Place in hallway that get's a lot of traffic and after noticing how easy it is to install I think I will be picking up a few more. Does not work with a three way switch though and can only handle 250 watts, so make sure you do not have too many lights going to the switch.

Features:

* Operates in one of three modes: occupancy (turns on and off automatically via motion sensor), vacancy (turns off automatically via motion sensor), and auto-on and off (via light sensor).

* Works with CFL, LED, incandescent, and halogen lights.

* Time-outs can be set be set to 1, 5, 15, or 30 minutes (as well as a "test" mode that is about 15 seconds).

* Inexpensive

* Easy to install

* Light can always be turned on and off via the front switch

* Comes with wire nuts and screws to attach to break-out box (but no faceplate).

A few (small) cons:

* Distinctly audible click when the sensor detects motion and the light turns on.

* If you connect the two black wires in the wrong order, the switch will not work (but, simply switch the connections and everything will work)

* With the face-plate attached you can change the time-out setting but you cannot change the operational mode (occupancy vs. vacancy vs. light-sensor) or the motion sensitivity.

I got tired of yelling at my kids to turn out the bathroom lights, so I bought a couple of these switches. Note that I have installed two of these but have operated them only in occupancy mode. To my ear, the turn-on click is not very loud, but someone not used to it might be (slightly) startled.

In summary, I am quite pleased with these switches and will probably buy more.

I saw many of those "head light". All of them are using modern battery-saving LEDs.

Most of them come with 5-10 LEDs. Okay. This one just has one bright, zoomable LED

The headlight also just needs AAA batteries instead of 2 x CR2032 button battery.

Those CR2032 button batteries can't be recharged. But AAA batteries can be recharged.

So it was a "must have" that my new headlight which I would use very often has that.

I didn't expect this to be as bright as it is. I have another headlamp that costs waaaay more but doesn't offer the ability to zoom in or out. Only problem I had is the battery door catch is flimsy and broke as I tried to open it to pit batteries in, easily fixed with glue but not looking forward to replacing them. For the price there's nothing that comes close. Its super bright and easy to use.

A really great little light for close up work, either at the computer or working on your car, or walking the dogs. The battery compartment in a snap to get into, and the light stays on your ballcap very well. And to top that off the light is zoomable. Very very pleased with this purchase

Honest reviews on Zoomable Clip-on Cap Hat LED Light Lamp Flashlight Hands-free

Although presented as for joggers (and it works well to light up night areas while keeping hands free), I bought it because am constantly frustrated when needing to work in a dark area on some household task. Found that a cap with a short bill worked better than a baseball cap with a longer bill (kept the device out of my line of sight). So far, so good. Quality appears better than I expected.

This timer works great. Easy to install and works perfectly for shutting off our bathroom fans. Switch uses a 4 wire install which is fairly easy to do. Switch is digital so there is no ticking sound like from a windup timer. My only gripe is that the switch doesnt protrude through the wall plate its more recessed than the switch it is next too but it still look great. Works great and easy to install I recommend this as an easy way to save some energy. This should pay for it self with in a years time.

I'm disappointed that over half of the finger lights died after one use. It seems like the little switches are bad. The up side is that they are nice and bright.

I found these first at a craft fair and bought one package, once I got them home and found how very useful they are I ordered more of them for friends and family to have. My hubby uses his when working on the car he puts it on his tools when he is having trouble seeing the bolts he is trying to undo or put back. I use them when I'm connecting cable on the back of the computer and or TV and can't pull them all the way out. I also use them when sewing to light up right where the needle is going into the fabric. The weight on my forefinger in not even noticed.

Before buying this, I got the 8" lamp for my bedroom. I love the energy of the lamp and it makes for much more restful sleep. So, I was delighted to get this smaller USB lamp. It is on top of my desktop tower and remains illuminated even when the computer is shut down. The energy is less dramatic than with the larger lamp so buyers might consider room size and air circulation before deciding which size to order. My overall impression is simply that the lamps generate a higher level of overall comfort. This is subtle and could therefore be denied by some people, but they feel nice and I love the shape and color.

It is impossible to suggest anything medical or to claim a health benefit from using this . . . other than the quite significant fact that these lamps have nice energy.

The approximate dimensions of this lamp are 4.5" X 3.5". My 54" cord does not have an off/on switch, it shuts off with my pc. It is a product of China, or packaged there anyway, and has a written description in english and french. If the enclosed bulb ever burns out, i see no way to replace it. The 7" version of this lamp here on amazon that plugs into a wall, has a replaceable bulb on a dimmer switch for not a lot more money, but is certainly not as portable. http://www.amazon.com/WBM-7-Inch-Himalayan-Natural-Crystal/dp/B002LZUE76/ref=pd_cp_hi_2

Honest reviews on Natures Artifacts Micro Salt Usb Lamp Himalayan Salt Crystal Lamps

I love salt lamps and have several in different sizes and shapes. I wanted one that would always be next to my laptop, and this one fits the bill perfectly, except for one thing which is the reason I'm returning it. Nowhere in the description of this product does it say the bulb is one that changes color every few seconds, yet that is what is happening. It goes from green to yellow to purple to pink... and honestly.. it's a little distracting. I envisioned a "normal" lamp with a plain bulb in it illuminating the beautiful piece of salt. Hopefully I'll still be able to find one like that. If I could just buy a bulb and switch it for this changing thingie I'd do that, but I'm not going to fool around with unscrewing this, etc. I'm just going to return it. So again, it's a nice lamp, it works on the USB, and it's the perfect size (IMO) for use next to my laptop... but... it's going back because of the unexpected color changing feature.

OK, I expected this to be disappointing but it is really great -the only thing that surprised me is the two I bought change colors through the rainbow spectrum! We love them, but I wanted to use one at my professional my office but I think the colors could make it seem silly. So, I gave the second one to my boyfriend, who I thought would just laugh at me. Instead, he reports that the light changes the whole feel of his home office because of the ions! He is not into new-age at all, so I was surprised. I also feel that there could be something to the ions, as I feel them, subtly, too. We easily habituated to the changing colors, so its very nice. I still don't feel I can bring it to the office, though I am thinking of buying several for inexpensive gifts for friends/family. Very worth the money!

I just received it yesterday. Overall, I'm impressed. It has a lot of good features for the price (NOTE: I got it cheaper from another website).

The Good:

The ability to dim the light down to what you need should help save the battery

The hands-free IR feature to turn the light off/on is a nice touch

The weight seems to be fine at least it doesn't bother me at all when wearing

The Bad:

The battery life at the highest setting, according to the website description is 8 hours. The package rates it at 4 hours.

The "gear" mechanism that allows the light to shine up or down seems cheap. I would expect it to break if it was used very often.

When initially turning on the IR off/on feature, it comes on then right back off the first time. After that, it seems to work fine.

Other Thoughts:

This lamp appears to be made in China and sold under different names. There's a cheaper version of this lamp available w/o the IR feature search Amazon for "eGear Focus Control 100".

I was debating between this lamp and the Coast Lenser 7497. Now that I know it will only last 4 hours at the high setting, I would get the Coast lamp if I could do it over (it has a 15 hour life at 170 lumens).

I posted pictures of the packaging. The actual model of this lamp is phm0m3a011. Search google with this part number to get all the details on this lamp.

Update (10.25.2011):

I've really enjoyed using this headlamp. I find that I use the hands-free IR feature EVERY time I use it. I've also used the zooming feature quite a bit it's been great for lighting up the entire area in front of my walking path. For the price and features, it's been a great buy.

I has used lots of headlamps for many years. I started to fashion headlamps when components were comparatively clunky, provided marginal light and went through big batteries quickly. I did technical mountain rescue work for many years, and it just didn't work to use a hand held light when you were operating in the dark on rope. Anyway, I have experience with headlamps for lame stuff like walking the dog and camping and also for high altitude rock and ice. This little light is not one for extreme use but it will be going to my hunt camp the elk season (11,000 ft).

It can be used in a few modes, some that save batteries while giving enough light to keep from tripping down the trail, and another for lots of light. It has red LED's for not wrecking your night vision while trying to sneak up on game in the dark. And the really cool thing is the motion activation. You can pick one mode, that starts at the bright setting and it dims if you hold the button. So you can customize the light you need from 100 lumens on down. Once you let up on the button you have picked the brightness, but then the really cool motion activation is set too. So from then on you don't have to fool with the little buttons. If you wave you hand past the headlamp it will turn off, and again with a wave, turn on. Because I travel in the mountains without light as much as possible, I can then have light in an instant, even with heavy gloves on, by a wave of my hand. So when I need to check out what just made that large and growly noise, I have fast light, hopefully faster than the bear can close the gap.

The light can be pointed at your toes or further out in front of you as needed, and gets a lot of mileage of the batteries. LED's are so much better than the crap we used to have. Do remember, that if you use lithium batteries they go full tilt until empty and then go dark without warning. You should have a second small light to be able to put in new batteries. These lights are small and changing batteries can be a chore. You can also adjust the beam easily, and the headband seems adequate, and it weighs next to nothing. This thing will not blind anyone but it put out enough light to do most anything you'll need to do.

Best Deals for Neiko 40432 Sensor+ Adv XP-C Super Bright 100 Lumens Cree LED

The Cree Sensor is a good value at $28 bucks. You can pay more and get more, but this is good enough for most purposes. The battery life is an issue, but if you're on a long night hike or ride, take extra batteries-problem solved.

The dimmable main LED is plenty bright for biking down an in-town trail, but probably not good for rock strewn technical riding.

It's also handy for household chores, and I've even used it as a reading light. The dimmable switch is very handy for that reason. This is not a high-end light, but rather a value light with a lot of features for the money.

Honest reviews on Neiko 40432 Sensor+ Adv XP-C Super Bright 100 Lumens Cree LED

For camping, hiking and general around-the-house use, this has to be the best headlamp out there.

The zoom feature is very useful; the wide angle delivers a perfectly, even uniform field light, and the angle is gradually adjustable up to "telephoto" -perfect for reading a book in the tent. The light intensity is also adjustable -not in steps, but a continuous gradation. Just hold the button down and it dims gradually. Release when you have the intensity you want. The telephoto beam is not quite so uniform as the wide angle -a little reflector unevenness, but I don't find this too disturbing.

The Infrared hand-wave ON-OFF feature only works with the white LED. The red LEDs are button operated: On, Off and blinking. They blink the SOS signal: 3 fast 3 slow 3 fast. If you're blinking for help, might as well use the universal distress signal. The red LEDs are actually very bright and cannot be dimmed.

100 lumens is fine enough for my purposes -around the campsite. If you're trying to light up the opposite canyon wall in an S&R mission, this is not the light. But this lamp is compact and lightweight, perfect for hiking, biking trips. It is somewhat bulkier and better constructed than my old superlight 4 LED Petzl, which always had problems with the very shallow battery enclosure. The thin plastic on that one cracked and is now useless.

My only complaint: the top buttons that operate the light sequence and Infrared feature are flush with the body and have very little texture -very difficult to feel and locate. They should have been either raised, more recessed, or molded with more tactile texture. But I'm getting to finding them now.

The headband is the Achilles heel of most headlamps I've owned -in no time they stretch out and even with the minimum adjustment, they would soon only fit the head of the Elephant Man. The fix is to rubber band a loop in the back to take up the slack. I wish they would make a stronger, more durable elastic for these headbands.

This technology will revolutionize the horticulture and aquaculture industries. Kessil put the time, effort, and money into doing something in a different way. And every thing they did to make these little firecrackers pop came from a firm grasp of their subject material. I am not a physicist but i have taken the class more times than i care to admit. It's a difficult subject to pass for a lot of students, but i think that the people who made this device were definitely paying attention the entire time they were in school. I consider this product to be of superior quality and suitable for research applications where high levels of photosynthetically active radiation are required. Protective eyewear is not a bad idea during periods of prolonged exposure (your test subjects will have no complaints though).

A plant grown from a seed which sat on the windowsill for two months had small pistils. After sitting under two 15 watt red lights for about a month, these became tiny flowers. After 3 weeks of Blackstar Flowering Light (240 watt, mostly red light) including 2 weeks of Kessil magenta with the 350 watt equivalent, the flowers are in full bloom, just like photos I am not sure Amazon.com will let me publish here. I actually would need a better camera in order to get good closeups.

Suffice it to say, the plant that resulted from an experiment is now almost useable medicine. Get a jeweler's loupe to learn more about trichome production, get Azomite, find a place for the blooming plant to sleep (tent or closet in a cool area which will not be disturbed for 12-13 hours a day) and be patient. Bloom cycle is measured in what grower sees on the plant itself, not by a book of instructions. LEDs take longer but produce more trichomes, the medicine.

It is a great encouragement for a sick person to watch medicine happen at home, from a houseplant to a medical plant.

The seed for this particular plant came from another plant, from legal RX medicine. So it was not a "planned" event, the plant was hermaphrodite. Not wanting to waste RX seed, I started with Blackstar because halide and florescent have their downsides, described in other posts. Kessil is more compact and puts out the specific wavelength that the plants need without heat, and allowing easy hanging where the grower needs light (under the canopy) with good penetration no burn and a much lower utility bill. I find the light pleasant.

In order to see trichome colour, one has to turn off the coloured lights! Sit the plant on a table by itself in sunlight or white light and with a jewler's loupe, examine the top and bottom flowers and see if the trichomes are clear, cloudy or amber. When most of them are cloudy or amber, put the plant in 24 hours darkness for 1-2 days then harvest it as medicine, and after harvest weigh it and label it as medicine.

Be sure to get a State permit in your location before growing medical marijuana! A permit is not difficult to get but usually requires a visit to an MD and MD must give you a written medical report, which then is submitted by you to the State with a permit fee. State within a few weeks or months sends the patient permit, which limits the patient to a certain number of plants. I've never managed even one harvest since 2007 though I've had such a permit for at least 14 or 15 years now. Google around for info, it's not hard to get. It does take time, some money and mostly patience. The process is much easier now than it was 15 years ago.

I personally use cannabis by RX for the past 15 years for relief of severe extremely debilitating chronic back pain due to scoliosis, a congenital condition. The alternative would be pharmaceuticals, such as Vicodin which I found to be addicting even in small amounts and mind-numbing, not to mention requires constant MD visits and monitoring, prevents driving, etc. Without cannabis, I could not walk or stand much at all. I use only a prescription chair for sitting. Now in 2013, I do not use any pharmaceuticals now at all since roughly 2005, some 8 years.

Finding good herbal medicine even in licensed dispensaries can be challenging. Many of the dispensary owners have no idea how to grow medicine, what to look for or even what strain is best for what ailment. They are not pharmacists but they are dispensing the equivalent of herbal Vicodin. This concerns me a bit. The governor of Oregon is also an MD. He just signed a bill a few months ago that will legalize State dispensaries. This bill contains some labeling provision but until I see a State label I won't depend on the State to tell me which strain works for chronic back pain which is almost all muscle strain from having a crooked spine and not being able to straighten it unless I invert, do extreme yoga or see a chiropractor. All those more expensive approaches provide very little temporary relief absent muscle relaxation which is otherwise very difficult to achieve. Absent any treatment, I am in constant spasm. Combined with a severe hearing impairment, it meant I could not work very well or communicate with others because I needed to at least sit in a custom chair and needed a keyboard to communicate after sitting.

I did not find out about the hearing impairment or the scoliosis until 2006. Until that time it seemed I was usually in pain and hearing muddled speech without any explanation. Pillows and pills certainly did not help and led to more problems described mostly on FaceBook.

In my 15 years as a licensed legal patient, my experience is indicas with high or at least balanced CBD NOT THC is the key to pain relief. It just takes more time and skill to produce this type of plant. Even medical dispensaries are not motivated to wait for it to produce itself because the main demand is still for THC laden buds, producing a "high," which I don't get at all after 15 years and I am not looking for, I am looking only for pain relief in the form of relaxed back muscles. While community can be fun, I am limited by a keyboard and a camera to sharing my small success when it happens.

So having established with that long magilla that I am a serious medical grower with serious pain, I can tell you I had no gardening experience before I became a retired disabled person. I worked in an office for 27 years. Even my house plants died before now. My lawn would be brown or yellow if not for my landlord's memos to all tenants to water, weed, mow and fertilize, along with recommendations about certain fertilizers. If not for landlord's gardening standards, I would have probably given up on gardening long ago and just stood in line with my RX at the dispensary to get it filled along with 50,000 other medical marijuana patients in Oregon. The problem is until federal laws catch up to State laws, whole dispensaries disappear overnight sometimes without any warning to patients. Patient loyalty to mysterious growers of medicine is not rewarded at all. There is another way. I recommend that even if you have never been able to grow houseplants that if you are a patient, don't give up. If I can learn, anybody can.

Light, water, soil, seed and air circulation are all important. The LED high-intensity fixtures all have built-in fans, making supplemental fans obsolete, if one positions the fans close to the canopy, they vibrate the plant slightly simulating a constant breeze and helping the plant to branch.

The medical garden has to be sustainable on a small budget. Utility bills must be paid on time. The garden has to be portable, including lights. For the first time in my experience as a would-be medical grower, EVERYTHING you need to start is available on amazon legally except seed. If you have a permit and you live in a State that allows medical marijuana or cannabis farming it's not hard to get seed. Otherwise, you must be very patient and persistent in finding seed then do everything you can to keep "mothers" and cuttings alive and keep reading and watching youtubes. This will prevent costly and disappointing mistakes. It hurts me when seedlings die or plants get diseases, it creates more pain to watch them suffer. But this leads to new awareness, better growing skills and more knowledge. Amazon alone is a wealth of knowledge, but readers have to sift through a lot of posts to find the truth.

IMHO, as a medical patient with a grow permit who has heretofore not been able to make much use out of the "grow" portion of the permit, this is the best compact grow light for SMALL medical growers on the market today. If you have an available source of seed or cuttings, then go for it. It can be rewarding. I am always motivated by health...what I prepare at home is healthier than what I buy in the restaurant or in the store as far as food. I am convinced the same is true with herbal medicine, I have no knowledge let alone control over how my medicine is grown when I rely on commercial growers and dispensaries. I use relatively small amounts. I do not trade medicine, I don't talk much to anyone, it would be difficult to trade. I don't know if readers are following the "debt ceiling" debate but I would not hold my breath in the US for national health care anytime. Reading the daily news in October 2013 can be depressing to those in pain waiting for government to provide pain relief. While I am not identifying much with the Republican party these days (I have in the past) or even with politics (change is so slow), these lights are a way to be more independent, to have more choices and they grow tomatoes and basil as well, in the same indoor garden space.

I suggest new growers watch a few youtubes, but start with Kessil's website , which IMHO has the best professional youtubes on how to arrange the lights, and I would not waste time or money with the 150s, start with 350s if you can afford it, and buy lots of S hooks http://www.amazon.com/Amico-Shaped-Kitchen-Hanging-Hangers/dp/B009EO0Y18/ref=sr_1_1?s=industrial&ie=UTF8&qid=1381898009&sr=1-1, you will need them. One of these shows basil one shows tomatoes, but you get the idea of how to set them up in very small spaces that can easily and cheaply grow whatever you want. Blessings.

I bought this item to provide an automatic light at the brick stairs at one entrance to my front yard. The motion sensor was put right at the gate and it controls the light switch in my kitchen nicely. The distance between sensor and switch is about 20 ft. But when I tried to move the sensor to another spot, about 30 ft. distance, it became a little erratic. This is a cry from the claimed working distance of 100 ft.

One word of caution: this device will not work with cfl bulbs. The rocker switch may be able to turn the lights on and off, but the receiver in the switch will not work with the sensor when cfl bulbs are in the circuit.

I purchased this item to turn on my outside lights near my garage. The switch that controls them are inside the house so the signal has to go through the outside wall and then about 20' feet to where the switch is. At first this didn't work. Like many have pointed out, it just seemed broken. I was close to returning it when I decided to read through some of the reviews more closely. What I came across was that I needed to rethink that little antenna wire that I just shoved into the outlet box.

The symptoms of my problem was that the light would sometimes turn on, but not turn off. I did some experimenting by removing the sensor from the holder and tried it in different places closer to the switch. It worked perfectly when it was about 1 foot away... so I knew it was not defective. I then tried various distances and it dropped off quite quickly around 5 feet. Sounded like an antenna issue to me.

Since my switch is inside the house, but on an outside wall, which is insulated, I was not able to just drill a hole into the bottom of the electrical box and feed the wire into the wall cavity. I tried it, but not a chance with the insulation in there. The solution that ended up working was to run the antenna wire outside the box on the outside of the wall. I ran just lead it between the face plate and the wall and let it hang there. Tested the light in its original (preferred) location and it worked like a champ. In my case I have a white board just above that outlet so I finished it up by running the wire up behind that board so it's barely noticeable.

I would give this product a higher rating, but I found that the instructions were nearly useless in getting it to work. Their website is slightly more helpful, but you have to work to find it. If it were not for the great reviews and comments here on Amazon, I would have just returned the product thinking it was broken.

I purchased two of these to bring lights on in the driveway as people approached the house. Installation went pretty easy for anyone with a rudimentary understanding of electronics. However, the users/installation manual was difficult to understand/follow and was clearly not written by a native english speaker. In addition, the advertised function range is not as claimed. I have my detector hanging from an overhang about 30 ft from the actual switch. However, anything beyond this range (my preferred option) resulted in haphazard function. As I moved the detector closer to the wall switch, the strength of the signal was more reliable and ensured function. Outside of 30 ft is a crap shoot resulting in lights coming on sometimes and not others. Other functions of dim and auto-shut-off seem to work fine. However, once I figured out the users manual and moved the sensor in close, the unit is reliable and works as I desire.

We purchased 2 of these, 1 for the front porch and 1 for the back porch. We think the User Manual could have done a little better job of describing the actual operation. The installation part was fine but it took us a while to realize that the DIM switch was strictly a manual function and did not determine the automated dim level the control used at night. When the unit is operating in "auto", it turns the light on full bright for the selected period (1 or 5 minutes) when motion is detected and then back to 50% of power. We thought it would return to the DIM setting but not so. If one operates the DIM switch, mode is switched to manual just like operating the main switch which sets the light to full bright when pressed ON. One must press the main switch OFF to restore auto operation. If the User Manual had made this more clear we would have rated the unit 5 stars.

I bought this not knowing the switch I wished to replace was in a 3 way circuit. After some consideration, I concluded there is no way to hook this in the 3 way circuit, not enough wires.

We love these lights. We believe that real candles can be a fire hazard, yet we enjoy having candle holders on our fireplace and dining room table. With these LED candles, not only do we have the warmth of candle light, but the gentle colored hues that bring cheer and warmth to the room. A perfect solution!

I bought these candles for our Halloween pumpkins this year as we didn't feel comfortable putting a real candle in them and these worked great! Not only did they light the pumpkins up but it was really cool to watch the colors change from inside the pumpkins I love these candles and would definitely recommend them :)

I have a friend with allergies. She can't even be around the smallest amount of smoke residue from a blown out candle. These made a perfact gift for her. She was unaware anything like this was out there and she was elated to get them as a gift. It is also a great gift for anyone who loves candle and has small children. They are completely save and clean. Make great gifts.

I enjoyed the tea lights very much. They change colors exactly how they were described. I would recommend them to anyone who likes the image of candles burning and not having to worry about blowing out the lit candles.

I am an owner of a lighting and lamp shop. I purchased many reels of LED strip to do a small test. Everyone knows that LED will be the next generation of the lighting but LED is more complicate than the halogen light. So people sometimes feel difficult to find out the right LEDs, especially online. Home Depot carries all kinds of LED lamp but none of the LED strip. So I hope my review will be helpful for all of you on Amazon.

The strips I compared are the most basic products: cool white and warm white, waterproof and non-waterproof. All the LED strips came in different quality and brightness. I am satisfied with five of the strips. These five strip have high lumen, good color and 3M tape is good. So I recommend them:

HitLights LED Flexible Lighting Strip Cool White or Bright White, 5 Meter or 16 Ft, 3528 Type, 300 SMD, 24 Watt

This cool white LED has the highest brightness and the color is about 6000K which will be very closed to the tube. I think this one should be enough for most of the people. Also, the best part is the price is very reasonable and even cheaper than some low quality strip. So I highly recommend this one.

16.4 Feet 300 SMD LED Flexible Strip with Waterproof Sleeve,12 Volt Clear White LED Ribbon 5 Meter Reel,3528CW By CBconept

This strip have a good rubber sleeve protect the strip and the color is around 6000K too. But since it doesn't have the 3M tape. So be careful. If you really need the waterproof cool white strip, this is your option.

5 Meter Reel Warm White 3100k Flexible LED Ribbon 300 Leds 16 Ft by LEDwholesalers, 2026ww-31k

This strip have a neutral color, around 3000K to 3500K which is between cool white and warm white. The color is special and I believe some one will need that. The 3M tape is great and stick the strip really well.

HitLights LED Flexible Lighting Strip Warm White, 5 Meter or 16 Ft, 3528 Type, 300 SMD, 24 Watt

This one have a better price and warmer color. It is from hitlights so the quality is the same as the first one I just mentioned before.

HitLights Waterproof LED Flexible Warm White Lighting Strip, 3528 Type, 300 LED, 5 Meter or 16 Ft, 24 Watt, 12 Volt

This is the only warm white LED strip I found on Amazon. The quality is good and the LED is bright. Good choice for the people who need warm white LED strip in outdoor use.

Finally, I realized that hitlights and led wholesaler are the top two quality on Amazon. I also found both of them have more LED products in other vendors. In other word, they are more professional in LED. Obviously, led wholesaler has even more products but higher price while hitlights only has the popular led products and the price is more reasonable. I will say both of them are good LED sellers.

These are not 5050 LEDs the ream says "P/N: 3528 Waterproof" So I am not sure why the product description includes 5050 tri chips.

-Since my review, the company fulfilling the order refunded my money and apologized for the misunderstanding. But I have yet to see the description change to match the product I received, otherwise if they where 5050 LED's I would purchase more at the $20 price point.

These used to be really great LED lights. I've ordered 7-8 reels of these in the past and needed some more for a boat lighting project. Here's why these are so bad.

1. The 'new design' of these lights makes installing them a nightmare. The 3m adhesive backing on these stick better to the wax paper backing than the 'waterproof sleve'. You'll need a razor blade and quite a bit of patience to separate the backing on these.

2. Waterproof?!? I think not. This design has the lights in a silicon enclosure and the waterproofing is done by loosely fitting caps. there is nothing with the kit to actually make a watertight seal so I'm very skeptical about the survivability of these lights.

3. The price. Not only are these lower quality than the old version, they also run about 3 4 bucks more a reel.

Needless to say, I'm very unhappy with the quality of these and I won't be buying them again.

Honest reviews on LEDwholesalers 16.4 Feet 300xSMD3528 LED Flexible Strip

To reiterate, these are 3528 LEDs, not 5050 LEDs. As such, if you order these, the light output you will get is about 3 times less light than you want/need. I figured I would give this item a chance, as its been awhile since MG left his review, but apparently, they have yet to correct the listing for this item, to date. This listing is the perfect example of bad business practices.
