Price for bulbs very reasonable; the pins inserted more easily than the bulbs they replaced and appeared brighter than the old bulbs next to them.

I would recommend this product to any RV-er who is tired of high-priced bulbs that fail quickly, or bulbs that don't work when you get home and install them.

ONLY negative would be the high-priced shipping for a very light-weight package. Shipping brought the per bulb price nearly to the price of the old ones, but not quite

I LOVE CHRISTMAS!!! These light are absolutely beautiful. I have used clear light for so long, so it will be great to put lots of vivid colors on my tree this year!

I bought one set of these lights for my tent in Afghanistan last year. I'm a contractor here. I liked that they were LED so I could leave them on and not worry about a fire starting. They were bright and colorful too. I bought 2 more sets for my wife and she REALLY liked them too! I bought another 3 sets, for a total of 6 sets. I am looking forward to seeing them on our new house next year at Christmas time!

The Woods 59007 Decora style 30-15-10-5 minute timer switch is a pretty nice timer switch.

The first time you press the pushbutton switch, the switch turns on, and will turn off after 5 minutes. If you desire for the switch to be on a longer timer, the pushbutton switch can be pressed again to increase the on-time. The second press increases the on-time to 10 minutes. The third press increases the on-time to 15 minutes. The fourth press increases the time to 30 minutes. A fifth press will turn the switch back off.

As the remaining on-time counts down, the LED indicators show the approximate on-time remaining. For example, if the switch is turned on with a 15 minute setting, initially the green 15-minute LED is lit. After being on for 5 minutes, the green 15-minute LED is turned off, and the green 10-minute LED is lit. After 5 more minutes, the green 10-minute LED is turned off, and the green 5-minute LED is lit. After 5 more minutes, the green 5-minute LED is turned off and the red off LED is lit (and the switch output is turned off, turning off whatever the switch is powering).

At any time, the pushbutton switch can be pressed to change the remaining on-time. Each press of the pushbutton moves the on-time setting to the next value in a circular pattern as follows. 5 minute -> 10 minute -> 15 minute -> 30 minute -> off -> 5 minutes -> etc. For instance, if the 5-minute LED is lit, and the pushbutton is pressed twice, the 15 minute LED will be lit instead of the 5 minutes LED, and the switch will remain on for 15 more minutes.

The switch is totally silent except when turning the switch on and when the switch is turned off, at which times you can hear a soft click. I've not disassembled the switch to tell for certain, but it sounds like the switch uses a relay for switching (rather than a triac) to turn its output on and off.

The 30, 15, 10, and 5 minutes LEDs are all green. The off LED is red.

The timings appear to be very accurate. When I tested, the timings seemed to be accurate within 1 second.

The switch plastic has a bit of fine texturing. When I installed it, I think the texturing made it appear very slightly less white than the switch cover around it, but the apparent color difference was not (in my opinion) objectionable.

Here is why I didn't give the switch a 5-star rating: As other reviews have noted, if you just install the switch and screw it into place in the junction box, it sits too low beneath the switch cover to look nice. There is an objectionable (in my opinion) gap around the edge of the switch between the switch and the switch cover. What I did was to put 3 flat washers (number of flat washers determined empirically by trial and error) between the switch and the junction box to shim the switch forward. After doing this, the switch looked nice under the switch cover.

One last quirk with the switch: The directions tell you to wire the switch's green wire to the house wiring's green wire. I've never seen a green wire in house wiring. In the house wiring, the earth wire is pretty much always an uninsulated wire. What they should have said is to connect the switch's green wire to the house wiring's uninsulated wire (or wire with green insulation).

I installed this switch to control a bathroom exhaust fan. After shimming up the switch with flat washers as described above, the switch has worked well and looks nice. I can't comment on the reliability of the switch, as I have only been using it for about a week. I hope that it lasts a long, long time, because I really like this switch. I intend on installing it in two more bathrooms in my house when I add bathroom exhaust fans in those bathrooms.

UPDATE 11/16/2011 I've been using two of the switches to control bathroom exhaust fans for over a year now. The switches are used several times each day. They continue to work flawlessly. The third has only been in service (also controlling power to a bathroom exhaust fan) for about a month, but based on the performance of the first two, I don't anticipate having any problems with it.

UPDATE 3/21/2013 All three switches are still in service, are each used several times a day, and all all still working well.

This video shows how simple it is to operate the woods preset wall switch timer. It doesn't get easier than this. On close inspection the face of the unit does not appear to fit nice and flush like a quality switch should. It is hardly noticeable and the only reason I gave 4 instead of 5 stars.

Best Deals for Woods 59007 Decora Style 30-15-10-5 Minute Preset Wall Switch

This switch is similar to the Leviton LTB60-1LZ Decora 1800W Incandescent/20A Resistive-Inductive 1HP Preset 10-20-30-60 Minute Countdown Timer Switch,White/Ivory/Light Almond. I chose this switch instead because several reviews for the Leviton mentioned that the buttons were somewhat fragile. This switch does not have that problem. When you press the button, it starts with 10 minutes and adds time with each press. For my purposes (bathroom fan), I prefer this anyway.

Installation was mostly painless, except the mounting brackets seem to be set too far forward. In other words, after I mounted the switch and installed the wallplate, the face was sunk too far into the wall and it did not look good. I fixed this by using some small shims between the bracket and the wall.

Also, the included wire nuts are sized for a one-switch installation. If you have multiple switches in the box, you'll need bigger wire nuts. Last, the switch requires a neutral wire (white) to operate; make sure you have one (mine was tucked way in the back).

Honest reviews on Woods 59007 Decora Style 30-15-10-5 Minute Preset Wall Switch

... I would have purchased the Leviton LTB60-1LZ instead...

[..]

Why? Because, as other reviewers have said, this unit, though it appears to operate as advertised, DOES NOT PROPERLY FIT A DECORA WALLPLATE! Why? Because it is improperly designed and manufactured. The plastic face of this device, in which the LEDs and the single push-button are mounted, simply does not extend far enough beyond the metal ears of the mounting bracket, hence the device will not properly extend through a Decora wallplate. Having worked with electricity all my life (yes, I work in the field), I was able to very, very carefully bend the upper and lower brackets back a bit, then vertical again -a sort of "Z" shape -so as to cause the device to protrude forward a bit further, but I wouldn't recommend this method for the casual weekend installer. It's far too easy to break a bracket and too difficult to do what I did in a way that provides a satisfactory result. (Even I'm not COMPLETELY satisfied, but it IS an improvement that should never have been necessary for me to attempt.)

Can you simply shim the entire device forward with washers, plastic shims, etc., as other reviewers have done? Well sure, but that's what one should always be prepared to do (usually necessary if the switchbox is recessed a bit such that the face of the box is not flush with the wall surface; search Amazon or Home Depot for these: "Gardner Bender #GSP-04 Electric Device Spacer") Unfortunately, that for resolving the "switchbox is recessed" problem, but even when it is not, the face of the Woods 59008 is still a bit recessed from where it really should be, and that looks ugly and incomplete, like you really didn't care enough to do the job right in the first place. To be clear, shimming the timer forward does NOT fully resolve the problem! It STILL looks like it's improperly mounted and, if you take pride in your work and how it looks when you're done, you will -like me -find yourself wishing you'd spent the extra money and purchased the Leviton instead.

Why did I go with the Woods device? One reason -it was considerably cheaper; I figured I'd save a few bucks. What a mistake that was! Why didn't I send it back to Amazon if I was this dissatisfied? Time constraints. It was going into a rental house and I couldn't afford the time or trouble of ordering the Leviton device and making another special trip to the property just for that. Since my "Z-bending trick" pretty well resolved the issue for me, and I didn't have the time-luxury of shipping this one back and waiting for a replacement, I forged ahead anyway. Will I ever order another one? Not on your life! I've got the more-expensive Leviton device in my own home and I absolutely love it from an ease-of-installation perspective, from an operational perspective and, quite frankly, I think it actually looks better, as well. Not to mention that with the Leviton, you push the button you want -10, 20, 30 or 60 -ONCE, whereas with the Woods device, you have to push the single button that's provided multiple times if you want anything other than "10". That doesn't sound like much, but when added to the rest, it's just one more annoyance I'd prefer not to have.

If saving $10 or $12 bucks is important to you -and I understand that it may well be -then go ahead and buy this one. But if you really want to "do it right" and have a device that installs easily and PROPERLY the first time -without unnecessary aggravation -do yourself a favor and pass on this device in favor of something better. And you know which one I recommend...

These switches work perfectly. I like how these count down the time remaining with the green LEDs. More presses adds time. There is no option to leave the switch on indefinitely, which is great since it is supposed to be a timer. It's nice that there is only one button under the red LED, it is easy to find in the dark. Mounts flush with the switchplate for a clean look. Solid.

It isn't indicated anywhere in the Amazon description, but the package states that there is 495 lumens of brightness. Hope this helps.

UPDATE: There was 1 order of 4 bulbs and 1 order of 2 bulbs. I installed 6 of these in my kitchen ceiling cans in March of 2013.

There was a little color difference between lots but overall I was happy as the brightness was very good.

After 4 months one of the TCP bulbs went out I suspect the electronics in the base went bad. I will keep you updated if any others die.

Saw some mixed reviews on these, but decided to purchase anyway.

Main concerns were warm up time to full brightness and color temperature.

These lights take a minute or two to reach full brightness, and give off a nice warm tungsten like light at 2700K.

I'm very happy. I use them as a hall light that I switch off and on, and I was worried the initial brightness would suck.

It really is just fine for me, and I would rather save the money on my electricity bill than wait a minute for full brightness.

This is the first time we have tried CFL floods. We got them to use in a directional type fixture to throw light were we need it. They work just fine but they do have the time lag before they reach full brightness-less than a minute, not a problem.

As all lights of this type, they are slow to warm up but these seem to warm quicker than your older models. With a 7 year warranty (save your receipt and put a copy in the bulb package) these will save you money and give you a pleasant light.

I've been looking for a good lamp for awhile and ultimately decided to purchase this lamp after some research and reading other reviews. As a student and night owl, this lamp is pretty perfect. Breakdown:

Aesthetic Features:

Pristine white hard plastic. The design is a modern sleek look. The base is sturdy so that the lamp will not easily knock/tip over. The lamp was very easily put together when it came out of the box and I couldn't find any scratches or faulty parts from the get go. I really like the clean design.

Light Features:

The lamp is touch based which I really like and it works pretty well. Very nicely lit and the touchpad has a soft low in case you need to find it at night. It has 4 basic settings

Sleep/Bedtime mode

It's a soft orange warm glow. I like to use it for the wee hours of morning when I wake up for whatever reason when the sun isn't fully out yet. It doesn't hurt my eyes like other lights do.

Relaxation Mode

This is a step brighter than the sleep mode. A brighter orange/yellow if you will. I actually like to switch between this and the reading mode for reading depending on how tired my eyes are.

Reading Mode

The light shade is more of a white glow. I do use it to read but I often switch between this and the relaxation mode just because sometimes I prefer the more orange/yellow glow over the white glow.

Study Mode

This is a very bright white light compared to the reading mode. I pretty much use it late at night when I really want to get a lot of work done. I don't know if it's the cast of the glow but I feel like it's a more "serious" light if you will. The orange glows are more home-y/cozy and makes me more relaxed.

I get a lot of headaches and migraines so I really enjoy the different light settings on this lamp as it's easier on my eyes from what I've been able to tell. On top of the different modes, you can easily adjust for a higher/lower brightness on each setting A++.

Extra:

I really like that the power button is lit when the lamp is off so in the middle of the night I know where to clumsily touch and not just feel out my cluttered desk and drop things. There's also a USB port I can use to charge my iPhone. YAY!

I was between just getting the other lamp this company makes without the tilting head and this one but after reading an informative review stating that they wished the head of the lamp would tilt, I just bit the bullet and went with the newer version. The titling head is perfect!!! I keep the lamp on the edge of my desk, and I just swivel it, adjust the head so I can read on my bed since my desk is right next to my bed.

I Like it alot. My wife said it must have for the family. Because it have different functions and especially the reading.

Best Deals for Softech - Natural Light Smart LED Desk Lamp with Tilting Head -White

I just received this last night and was very pleased with the look, construction, flexibility and light options. I used it to replace a small halogen lamp on my home office desk which has a desktop computer with pullout keyboard shelf. The lamp is easily adjustable so it fits the desk very well. The best part is that the arm is secured to the base through a large hole with a plastic nut. It can be rotated about 270 degrees. This is the key to making it fit anywhere i want. The lighting options are great and it lights up the entire desk as well as the keyboard. Now my wife wants one for her craft table. Definitely worth the price!

Honest reviews on Softech - Natural Light Smart LED Desk Lamp with Tilting Head -White

We're thrilled with this desk lamp, for its variable color temperatures and intensities, plus the tilting head. The tilt feature permits canting the light head slightly away from you to avoid glare. This appears to be the key difference between this lamp and a less expensive non-tilting lamp also available on Amazon.

Too early to tell if the LEDs will last their estimated 40,000 hour lifetime, which certainly figures in to the value proposition for this lamp. But unless I missed something in other reviews, there have been no reports of premature failure.

I have had this LED Light for a few years now. This light is well worth the price of $30.00. It comes with both a wall and automobile charging cable. The light can swivel at mid point of the flashlight to direct the light in various directions when placed on a flat surface. It can also hang from the hook located on the top of unit. What's to say? These are conventional 11 Watt light bulbs for low voltage (12V) Malibu garden lights. They come in packs of four; they are rather more expensive than they ought to be; and they last months (maybe a year if you've got your voltage under strict control). It looks like Intermatic (maker of Malibu) have a patent on the socket of these bulbs. (Sigh.)

These are way cheaper than the official Malibu price. Remember that these bulbs do burn out, and get multiple packs to keep the shipping cost down. Two packs are already cheaper than buying local.

I looked at LED replacement lights, but they're clearly not "there" yet $5-$10 per light (vs. $2.50 for 4), and LED lights are way, way dimmer than the 7W or 11W bulbs. I tried LED bulbs, and my wife said, "You've got to be kidding." We actually need to light up walkways. If you just need glowy mood lights, and you're willing to pay to feel good about yourself, go for the LEDs now. Otherwise, it'll be another year or three.

Great that the price is right and that you can actually find the product, but shipping was to high for a small package of lightbulbs. I haven't tried the bulbs yet, waiting for one to burn out, but assuming they work, I am happy just to find the replacement bulbs. Please lower the shipping costs though.

There are great path lights and to put into deeper flowerpots on a deck and such. However, when 1 of 6 doesn't work, and another one is a little glitchy to get it to work, it's frustrating and should tell you something about quality control at Moonrays.

They also do not throw off as much light as you would think from the blurb about being 6 times brighter, and so on. But they do look nice are larger than many others, and stand taller. They're also different than most I see, what with the windowpane effect.

I have purchased four sets of these lights now and all have worked. They look beautiful lit up at night. The light pattern is soft and attractive. The light itself pools about three feet around the lamps. The problems I have experienced with them one arrived not working when I pulled the tab (seemed someone inserted the battery in the wrong direction) and they come in three or four pieces there are tabs inside the base that align these are hard to get to go in properly and have broken off on one base. When the lamps are bumped, by a dog, cat or your leg they tend to fall off the stake, but we plan on adding a bit of pipe inside to sturdy them up.

Overall I am very pleased with these lights and have plans to purchase one additional package soon.

I have to say first off that the seller did a good job. shipped on time, without damage or drama..all went well on that front. My problem is with the product itself. It looks pretty sturdy in the picture..but once you get them, you will see that they are made of a soft, yet brittle plastic. This matters most when you try to assemble them. Try to push that nice looking post onto the lamp and I assure you that you will not be able to do it without breaking off some of the mounting points. This causes the lamp to sit loosely on the post and it will easily tip off of it when a wind blows. I found that half of the lights came out of the box with damage to this mounting friction point. In order to get the lamp to stay assembled, one has to purchase some black metal screws and shoot two of them through opposite sides of the point where the lamp mounts to the decorative post. Then you have shim them so that they don't rock around like floppy fish. I have not even looked at the part where the post connects to the yard spike. Light seems pretty bright..but again..these are really below the quality line for something that you would expect to last a little while.

It's fun, it works, but...

It comes without instructions so you have to figure out how to use the DYI keys. Press they DYI key you want to set, adjust color with the arrow keys, then press the DYI key again. Done.

On my unit, the blue and green settings are reversed. So when I try to adjust green, blue reacts and vice versa.

Otherwise, it does what it says. Worth it for the price.

I ordered a set of rgb lights with a power supply, a remote, an IR receiver and this extra Remote/receiver pack. I intend to cut my strip in half and use a power supply that I found at the swap meat so that I have two fully independent half strips of about 7.5 feet each. I received the bigger remote pictured in the description, which I quite enjoy. The colors are not all true and the white is a little blueish, but the peach setting right below it makes for a pretty good light. I use it to light up my whole room from a ledge above my window. The customizable light settings (DIY1-DIY6) are fun to play with because you can adjust RGB to your desire, but they are considerably more dim than the preset colors, of which there are twenty. The fades can be slowed down for good mood lighting and the jump settings are good for freaking out friends. Also, the remote is IR, so the remote must be pointed at the receiver. It does have considerable range though (I've tried 40 feet). Overall, an exellent product for the price but there are some kinks.

Honest reviews on LEDwholesalers IR Remote Controller 44 Keys for RGB LED Light Strip

We got this controller (along with these lights http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00476B908/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00) for a party.

While we didn't like the lights very much, this little controller is a superb toy for the money.

This isn't a digital controller that can individually address LED's It is designed to work with strips that have all the LED's connected in parallel.

The IR receiver (the blob on the end of the thin wire) is sensitive and seems to work no matter where you point the remote, within reason.

The little white box is small enough to be stashed away out of site.

It works by sending a different voltage to each of the red, green, blue LED segments which in turn varies the brightness of each color. The result is pretty much any color you can be bothered to dial in.... it takes a little patience.

You can choose from pre-set colors (the colored buttons you see), a color you have saved to memory or you can set any red, green, blue level (the arrow buttons you see).

It can flash on & off, vary the speed, fade into the next color... all sorts of nifty effects.

Ridiculously cheap for what it does but comes without a power adaptor. I used a universal laptop supply. Worked great.

I ordered 2 of these. Upon connecting them to my light strip, I discovered the the colors on the remote didn't match up with the colors I was getting from my lights. I opened up the housing and found that the RGB wires were in all the wrong places. The housing has a QC sticker, but apparently that doesn't mean anything. I re-soldered the wires in the correct locations and now the colors of the LEDs correspond to the buttons on the remote.

The directions don't describe how to use the DIY buttons, but fortunately another reviewer had that covered.

It took me a while to decide which LED light bulb I wanted. First I wanted a 2700k light bulb (2700k is the standard for home light bulbs. Its not white light, it gives a "warm" light) and a bulb that is equivalent to 60W. The current champ is the Phillips 60W bulb that is currently selling for about $39 but Home Depot has finally started selling the same version in its stores for about $27.

So I ordered this bulb, plus I went to Home Depot to pick up the Phillips version. But I did not like the Phillips version because there is a 1/2 sec delay when you flip the switch. When I first tried the Phillips bulb, for a split second I thought it was broke! I couldn't stand the delay, so back to the store it went. I read other reviews on Amazon, and users reported the same thing, but most reviewers weren't bothered by it. But I was.

I also at Home Depot I tried the EcoSmart 60W 3000k bulb (Lighting Science makes these also, so it looks exactly like this one) but the brightness color was too white, almost like my office at work. 2700k color is perfect for the home in my opinion. When i'm at the office, I need white light to keep me awake. At home, i'm trying to relax, not try to burn my retinas.

Heres the pros and cons on the Lighting Science Group bulb:

Pros:

Instant on brightness. Unlike fluorescent bulbs which take a few minutes to warm up to reach full brightness, LED lights are at full brightness the second you flip the switch! Thats one of the biggest reasons why I went with LED.

No delay when turning it on. As soon as you flip the switch, the bulb is on, unlike the Phillips LED bulb which has a 1/2 sec delay before it turns on when you flip the switch.

The price was great! For under $30 you get a nice LED bulb.

Build quality. The bulb did not feel cheap or flimsy. It felt like a $30 bulb should be. The metal fins around the bulb are made of high quality and keep the bulb cool.

Lighting is the same as fluorescent bulbs. I was worried that the LED bulbs can not spread out the light like a fluorescent bulbs or regular bulb can. But my worry was gone when the LED bulb lit up my room exactly like my old fluorescent bulb did. I could not tell the difference!

2700k warm light. The light is warm just like my old fluorescent 2700k bulb was.

Cons:

The metal fins on the bulb do get very hot after a few minutes. The top light itself is cool to the touch, but becareful when handling the bulbs metal fins after its been on a few minutes. It can burn your fingers. Like most LED bulbs, the bottom contains all the resisters which regulate the power of the LED bulb, which can get hot.

Overall, this bulb is a must have for anyone who wants "instant-on" bulb thats 60W. You will not be disappointed.

*** UPDATE 06/09/2013 ***

I originally gave this review five-stars, which is deserved. I have since downgraded it to four stars because this bulb appears to have been discontinued and replaced by an even better bulb. It does not appear to be available on Amazon just yet but it's available at Home Depot as the EcoSmart A19 12-Watt (60W) LED Light Bulb; Model # ECS A19 WW 60WE (for the 3000K version, they also have a 2700K version but I do not have the model number). The new Definity Bulb is far better at dispersing "omnidirectional" light than the previous one. The previous one is still excellent, but if you're going to drop this kind of coin on new bulbs, that will be in use for years to come, you should buy the latest-and-greatest. This is particularly true given the rapid innovation in this space.

** ORIGINAL REVIEW 09/2012 **

There is a steadily growing industry around building LED light bulbs like this one. The holy grail for them is to make an inexpensive and energy efficient replacement for the ubiquitous standard 60W light bulb that can be sold to millions, or billions, of customers. To that end, a number of companies have flooded the market and your local home improvement store with LED bulbs touting themselves as the 60W replacement, including Philips, Sylvania (Osram), Toshiba, Samsung and a number of smaller brands.

I've tested almost every one of these bulbs, and the Lighting Science Definity A19 is the one that comes closest to achieving near perfection in an LED bulb and, except for the cost, closest to the goal of a universal 60W replacement bulb. Among its many benefits:

1) Superior Dimming. A number of companies build "dimmable" LED bulbs, but their technologies are simply not ready for prime time. The Lighting Science dimming is absolutely flawless -it's smooth and does not exhibit any kind of buzzing at any brightness level. Buzzing is a major problem for some of its competitors such as Sylvania and Samsung, and to a lesser extent Philips, as those bulbs tend to emit a high pitched buzz when dimmed to less than full intensity. I am not sure the reason, but the Lighting Science bulb seems to be the only one I've tested that is absolutely flawless in this category.

2) Well Engineered. It also works well in any type of dimmer that can handle LED/CFL bulbs and has an exceedingly high tolerance for wiring variations. The ceiling lights in my house, for example, have the original "knob and tube" wiring from the 1920s when the house was built, and the wiring is ungrounded and has a greater amount of interference than normal. The other bulbs that I have tested cannot handle this wiring without very noticeable buzzing. The Philips bulb does an okay job of filtering the buzzing out; it's less than the others but still there to some extent. But with the Lighting Science bulb, there is no buzzing at all in any application or any type of wiring I have thrown at it. It's clear to me that Lighting Science put its circuitry through a much more rigorous and robust testing suite than the others.

3) Instant on. You turn the switch and this bulb is on -instantly. You take this for granted in your incandescent bulbs, but most LED bulbs have a noticeable delay of anywhere from a half second to a full second before they come on. I was surprised how annoying this can be with some of the other bulbs. It seems like a small issue when you think about it logically, but we all grew up from childhood with the expectation that when you flip the switch, the light comes on immediately. This is so ingrained in our brains from childhood that it's very hard to get used to a bulb that doesn't come on instantly.

4) Perfect light coloring. This is another area where companies other than Lighting Science inexplicably cannot get it right. There are a lot of LED bulbs out there that advertise "warm" color, but if they don't put the actual color temperature (measured in Kelvins) on the box, you don't know what you're going to get. This is a big issue because we all grew up with incandescent bulbs with a color temperature of around 2600K. Your light fixtures -everything from the color of the glass in your wall fixtures to the design of your lampshades -was designed based on the assumption of an incandescent color temperature of around 2600K. Even the paint on your walls of your house may have been designed, to some extent, based on how it would look at night under the glow of these 2600K bulbs. You mess too much with that magical 2600K color temperature and everything in your home can simply look "off" and ugly.

This Lighting Science bulb has a color temperature of 2700K, which appears to be the "warmest" the LED bulb industry has been able to produce to date. It's slightly whiter than an incandescent bulb but generally looks good in most fixtures. Substantially the same bulb is sold at Home Depot under the "EcoSmart" label, but the "warmest" color temperature that one comes in is 3000K, which is way too white and fluorescent for me. The competitor bulb that comes closest to Lighting Science in terms of warm color reproduction is the Philips 2700K model, but it has a slightly pinkish hue to the color reproduction that is absent with this bulb. The Lighting Science is also superior to any CFL bulb I've ever tested in terms of color temperature.

5) Cost savings and heat. They emit a fraction of the heat, and consume about 1/7th of the energy, as a regular incandescent 60W bulb. Under the bulb there are a series of aluminum "fins" that act as a heat sink for the circuitry inside. Those fins can get somewhat hot but nothing like an incandescent bulb. The heat generated by this bulb is basically comparable to other LED bulbs at the same wattage. You will over the long haul see a reduction on energy costs, but it will take many years for those savings to recoup the higher initial purchase price.

Another theoretical upside that I refuse to acknowledge is the lifetime of LED bulbs -most manufacturers say they will last 50 times longer than incandescent bulbs or around 20 years. Because these bulbs have only been available for a few years, it's way too early to assess whether this claim is credible. I tend to think that this claim is based on the rated life of the LED lighting elements themselves. But the circuitry that feeds the LED elements (the stuff that generates the heat) will likely burn out or malfunction long before that. I've had these kinds of bulbs for about a year with no problems, but that's obviously no indication of whether they'll last as long as the manufacturers claim.

The big downside is price -as noted above, it will take years to save enough money on energy costs to make up for the greater initial cost of this bulb, and that's assuming that you believe the claims that these bulbs will last 50 times longer or 20 years (which I do not). But that's not how I think about these bulbs. I'm not interested in skimping to save a few bucks now when what we're talking about is something that will be "on" for many hours a day providing clean, safe and cool light to your home.

I just purchased a few of these bulbs and they're really great! I love the warm lighting much better than CFL's orangey tone, and the dimming is really smooth. I would recommend this bulb to anyone who needs non directional light and amazing dimming.

Honest reviews on Lighting Science Definity - A19 Omni V2 - Dimmable - 2700K - 60

My wife and I recently bought a house with recessed lighting in nearly every room, almost all of it on dimmer switches. The lights were power monsters, with big fat halogen bulbs. I set about changing this, and investigating other bulbs.

Th obvious first choice was dimmable CFLs. Unfortunately, the dimming on a dimmable cfl is... Well, it's crap. At the time, I felt that dimmable LEDs were cost prohibitive. Yes, I had heard that the bulbs worked much more nicely than cfls, the dimming effect was much better, you didn't have the light cutting out at a certain voltage, no buzzing like you do with cfls... But come on, it can't be worth that kind of money, can it?

Actually, it is. While the dimming isn't on par with an incandenscent, they're amazing in comparison to cfls. They last pretty much forever, the color of the light is beautiful and warm, the dimming works great, and I'll be replacing all the recessed lightbulbs in my house with these (slowly... They aren't cheap)

Is it worth the cost? Depends. If you don't mind power hungry halogens, keep your halogens. If you want money saving exclusively, go with cfls. If you want lights that dim well, last for ages, have good light color... Well, you're gonna pay for it.

I've been buying LED bulbs for some time, in some cases prematurely. Finally there is a bulb that is as bright as advertised, dimmable, and well-made. I'm very happy with these bulbs.
