These are really great lights. I'm redoing my garage and decided on using 5 of these units great lights extremely thin low heat and of course low power draw. I'm doing it abut different on the insulation I'm removing the small ower units at. Each light running low voltage wiring and powering all of them with a single external 24 volt ower suply.

First off, I am an electrical contractor. I think these lights are great besides the fact that these cannot be dimmed!! I have also tried other 12vdc power supplies and they do not work with these particular type of LEDs that are inside. They are about 1/2" thick and most all ceiling drywall is 1/2"-5/8" thick so that means you can just cut the hole and go, regardless of where a truss or floor joist sits. And not having to lay out your can lights according to where the truss/joists are is a HUGE time saver.

They provide an evenly distributed light. I have used many of these as well as the 8" version (which is a lot brighter) but the 6" ones are bright as well. They have a 120 degree beam angle so you have a wide light coverage. If you are planning on installing these in a large room and need adequate brightness, I would suggest using the 8" ones instead. The outer bezel is silverish/gray color (similar to stainless steel) but I suspect they could be scratched up lightly with some fine grit sandpaper and painted the same color as the ceiling, but I ahve not tried that yet.

One bit of very helpful installation advice.....The power supply that comes with these have an output 12v connector that plugs directly in to a pigtail that comes out of the back of the LED light, and the 120v input on the power supply has a brown wire (HOT) and a blue wire (NEUTRAL) which is a European/Asian color configuration; different from the US black/white wiring colors for 120v but does the same thing (electricity is colorblind). You MUST install these in a junction box of some sort and use the appropriate cover for said box in order to be both SAFE and meet the guidlines of the National Electrical Code. You cannot splice your wires coming from your switch or your existing light on to the power supply input wires without being secured in a junction box. Otherwise you would have a couple wire nuts tying together loose wires just floating in your attic or ceiling space, which is not good.

I like these so much that I am recommending these to any customer of mine that wishes to install recessed lighting somewhere. I just wish that they were DIMMABLE and I would have given them all the stars I could. These lights are VERY easy to install and I probably made it sound more complicated than they really are as far as installation goes. These are about the easiest lights to install from scratch even if you are the average homeowner and not an electrician. I highly recommend these!!!

This fits my needs very well but I wish it was available in a stronger magnification. The viewing surface is large, the light is clear and not hot and the arm stays put where I set it. IT seems to be of very good quality. I popped the hinged lid off because it got in my way. I use it for reading and crafts.

I was sent a link to a video demo of this product and we bought two to try. It's a great safety device! We have some very busy / congested warehouse areas. The LED lifgt is a real attention getter. I think that people that work in these kind of conditions get to used to the back up alarms and strobes of the lifts. We are in the process of installing this device on all applicable equipment.

We have three of these in our kitchen pendant lights. They are being controlled by a Lutron MA-600I-LA Maestro eco-minder 600 Watt Single-Pole Multi-Location Dimmer. The light color temp is on the warmer side of the scale (3000K). What I really like about them is, unlike many LED bulbs, the light isn't directional in these. The bulbs are facing down in the pendants, but they also light up the pendant (sideways) and even shine light up through the top of the fixture to reflect off the ceiling. This omni directional light also makes these bulbs great for table lamps and torchieres. The ability to dim the bulbs is also nice. We usually have the pendants running at about 30%.

The local electric company made a big mistake. They misread my meter in December and had my bill three times what it should have been. They corrected their mistake, but I had already made a commitment to change all incandescent bulbs to LEDs. Three months later and I have saved $80.00. This particular bulb is used in two light fixtures in my hall. Can not see a difference in amount of light. I give up nothing to get electric savings. Yahoo.

We have these bulbs in the refrigerator, in outdoor lights and in ceiling lights. They have excellent color rendition and broad light dispersion. We also have some of the Philips LEDs and they are also quite good, with wide light dispersion, except that in some fixtures the ribs cast a shadow on the translucent shade where it is close to the bulb. The only negative for the GE LEDs is their high cost and limited availability (both locally and on the internet).

Fabulous bulb! I purchased this GE brand for the 10 year warranty. Lowe's online says they carry them in the stores; however, I've been too 3 Lowe's without any luck. Nicely cool to the touch and bright enuf for any work. I put 4 bulbs in my ceiling fan light in my kitchen. It's a small workable space that got too hot w/incandescent bulbs. They are small giving a nice looking effect. Looking forward to the energy saving rebate and long term use! I'll purchase the 9 watt for the rest of my house.

We purchased this bulb online after buying several at Sam's club for less than half the current price. Sam's no longer carries this bulb and we needed one more. The bulb is a nice warmer light compared to the typical low energy bulbs, but VERY EXPENSIVE. If we didn't need one more bulb to match out outdoor lanterns, we would have chosen a different bulb due to the price.

I've used a variety of desk lamps in the past, most recently quartz halogen. This provided me with quite a bit of light, but it was also quite hot and the bulb, when it burned out, was not so cheap to replace. This lamp uses three rows of LEDs much cheaper to operate, last much longer (expected life 40,000 hours) as it uses 11 watts and provides several levels of light to use, both in intensity (which is variable with a touch switch) and color temperature (Kelvin). It has an intense white light (6,000 7,000K) for reading and a warmer (4,500 5,500 K) slightly less intense people will prefer one of the other, this unit has them both, plus lower intensity for, say, watching television or merely relaxing. These are all selectable with a reliable and easy to use touch switch system that is also very intuitive and easy to use. "But wait, there's more!" The USB outlet (power only) provides up to 3 more watts to charge your Kindle, Motorola Droid, iWhatever (with the appropriate adapter cord) as well. I purchased 3 foot long USB cords on Amazon (natch!) and now I have two of these lamps on the shelf over our bed we can read in bed, watch TV with lower light, while our Kindles charge.

N.B. This is actually the Diasonic DL-90, so you can also look for that product. The DL-70ISH is similar, but it has a built in iPod / iPhone charger in the base with a small speaker with variable volume. They come with a "wall wart" with replacable plug base that accepts 100 240 volts AC (output 12 VDC) so it is truly global in usability without any voltage transformer as well.

I have to say this is the best lamp I have ever had, and my wife enjoys her. Next stop, another for the desk. It's attractive and stylish as well, but mainly it provides fantastic, easily variable lighting!

This lamp is a little pricey. But the quality and usefulness just blew me away.

This is a fabulous lamp.

Very easy to use ... it has four basic settings and at each one, you can increase or lower the intensity.

I took a chance on it, and was extremely pleased.

My wife liked it and I may have to buy a second one for her ... for a while, I thought she was going to just take this one and then I would have to buy one for myself.

Sorry for being flip, but this is probably the best desk lamp I have ever had.

My mom is pleasantly surprised as she can read for long periods of time without any eyestrain at all. She thought it was just because she was getting older but the types of light available with this product really do make such a big difference.

Setup is a breeze, you unscrew the bottom and screw it back on with the platform in between and you're ready to go. It twists at the base and then you have the vertical adjustment at the top.

Overall the product is very light but the base is stable.

Really a very nice piece of technology, it was a bit pricey but it's one of those, you get what you pay for, cases.

USB port works for charging iphone and the 1-hour feature is a nice touch. Highly recommended.

I was excited enough about this lamp that I would've thought it impossible to exceed my expectations - but it definitely did. Not only is it totally cool in function - someone finally sat down to figure out what LEDs can do that other bulbs cannot - it's just elegant in its simplicity!

Start with the packaging - very reminiscent of getting a new Mac. Even the box it comes in is so elegantly designed and made that you know right away, serious attention has been paid. Assembly takes about two seconds - another elegant piece of design. [Be aware, though, that the plug comes in two pieces, mysteriously - I spent a bit of time trying to figure out how to make the prongs come out the regulation distance, before I realized that there was one more little piece taped into the carton. Once the light dawned, another two seconds.]

The body of the light is gorgeous in its simplicity - it's made of that good, dense, sleek, Italian-looking plastic, and so slender! I'd say it's not even 2" wide, and maybe a half-inch thick. When you're not using it to make light, it folds shut and becomes a sleek little exclamation point. Its base is maybe 8" square, also slim and sleek, and heavy enough to anchor the light in whatever extended, swiveled position you put it in. The controls are like a tiny iPod angled just above the base. The "on" touch-spot is lit when the light is off, so there's no fumbling to turn it on. The four settings are also effortless, as are the arrow spots that increase or decrease brightness within each setting. There is absolutely nothing else to this lamp - it is an exercise in perfect minimalism.

I use it as a bedside lamp - for ambient light in the bedroom after sundown (nightlight setting, dimmed down), plus reading in bed. I have actually taken to ramping down the brightness of the reading setting, because it's more light than I need. From an LED light - amazing! There are three rows of LEDs on the horizontal arm, two cool, one warm, and they crank out the light like crazy in a nice broad area - this is not a stationary flashlight like my LED desk lamp (circa 2009).

I have the feeling that this is the first LED lighting fixture that is based on what LEDs can do, not just on trying to replicate what incandescents and halogens have been doing. This is not just a perfect lamp to look at and to use, it's like a piece of the future. Even the price, if you think about what a good table lamp can cost, is quite reasonable for the remarkable quality and function. And at maximum brightness, it uses 10 watts. It's wonderful.

Ok up front, these lights are not designed to light a room for reading and other such activities. With that in mind...

This sconce is well made, it's a lot larger than I expected it to be (spreading my hand across the front of it, my thumb rested on the left edge and my pinky stretched to the right edge)... I kind of expected something smaller, but it ended up working great.

There are 4 LED lights, it provides good even light behind the sconce. These are great for movie rooms, dark corners, etc. I installed 5 of these sconces in my fifth wheel camper and it made a huge difference!

PROS:

1) LEDs doen't put off hardly any heat, nothing like traditional lights.

2) Uses batteries, so you don't have to run wires this is a bonus in camping applications.

3) Hangs on the wall with a single screw and it's secure very lightweight... the batteries double the weight (for comparison)

4) They have an auto-off function that makes them turn off after 4 hours saves batteries.

5) They have an auto-on function..

-24 hours after they shut off, they turn back on again for 4 hours (good for security), but you can shut them off to prevent this.

CONS:

1) They put out about 20 watts of light I'd say... so a lot more than a night light but only about half of a normal desk lamp

2) Screw to hang the light is not included.

3) Batteries which is a pro too... but in my RV I have to pull the batteries out at the end of the season to prevent corrosion...

Bottom line great light, great quality, larger and lighter than I expected, but don't get this light expecting a lamp to light up a room, more for mood lighting or to be able to see in dark places... great for RVs!

This thing is so dim. SO dim. Its not worth having anywhere in the house since the lighting cant illuminate anything! I wanted to use it above my couch where I sit to provide a little light when I was knitting and everyone else was watching TV. The light was not nearly bright enough, even when ALL the other lights in the house were off (tv included)! Extremely disappointed, will be returning asap.

I would give this nearly perfectly designed product five stars if it weren't LED. Normally, I hate LED lights. The frequencies they produce have been proven harmful, much likr fluorescent light; however, this one has a cover that results in an overall warm glow that is beautiful. On wood paneling they look like they were designed to match. Fabulous! Also, they are of sturdier construction than most battery operated lights and very easy to fill and install. My hat is off to the designers. I just wish such a great design could use healthier light sources.

Cheap Checkolite ART GLASS 1 Light Pendant

I like this light, but it wasn't exactly what I expected. I knew it was going to be a toss-up, but I was hoping it would be more green like the picture, instead is is mostly blue with very little green spots. I actually haven't hung it yet, it's been in the box for a couple months while we're remodeling so I can't comment on the assembly or functionality of it yet. I would probably not suggest buying a light like this online, you really need to see it in person... unless the color really doesn't matter to you. I'll have to find another use for it, as I don't think it's going to work well with my kitchen as I had previously planned.

It is really too big for hanging over a kitchen sink. And if you have to shorten the lenght, the three wires are all the same color. This makes it difficult to tell which is the ground wire without trial and error.

I'm giving it four starts instead of five because the picture is not an accurate representation of the product.

As others have noted, this is art glass which results in many variations. However, like another reviewer, the one I received is primarily blue. The amount of yellow is not enough to create as much green as shown in the picture. I really wanted more green and yellow emphasis. Also the colors are more elongated dots and not the long swirls shown in the picture.

Many pendant lights look very different when lit and some may want that, but this light is very similar whether lighted or not and I like that.

It is well made and as easy to install as any pendant light. Note the size of light you need. I think this would be too large over a sink, but is just fine as a single light over my round breakfast table. It measures about 9 inches tall by 5 inches in diameter.

For my purpose, it works just fine and I am happy. However, if you are the least bit picky, need to match several lights or don't have a good feel for size, go to a brick and mortar store to find exactly what you want and buy there.

When I purchased it was reduced to $35, which was a bargain and made my quibbles about color less important.

the pendant light is "art glass" and each art glass item can't be identical. Yet differences in the colors and patterns of the painted glass betweeen each light was very significant. too significant a difference for them to look good together.

These bulbs are a great example of what CFL bulbs can do nowadays. Remember the times when you switched on an energy saving bulb, and it would take several seconds to turn on, followed by about 10 minutes of ridiculously dim light, until it had reached its full brightness? These times are over. These bulbs switch on instantly and are also instantly bright.

The light temperature (hue) is also very pleasant and not "hospital-like".

I definitely recommend these bulbs for anyone who hates spending half their electricity bill on light...

But be careful where you buy: I have seen these as low as $4.20 in local home improvement stores. At their retail price of $9 each, they are way overpriced.

Side-by-side with a 40 watt incandscent bulb in an identical lamp, this light puts out a surprisingly bright and warm light. Many CFLs are advertised to have a "warm soft" light, but most do not compare to incandescent light. I've purchased numerous bulbs for these very lamps, and I've never been satisfied with the overall look before now. I definitely recommend these.

It's very hard to find this kind of "enclosed" CF bulb in the same shape as a traditional A19 edison-base bulb. I was confident that GE would have a good design and that it would be reliable. The design is indeed great the neck of the bulb is the "normal" shape, so this will fit in older and vintage light fixtures without a problem. It also looks just like a regular bulb. The color temperature is better than most CF bulbs. The downfall of this bulb, like many CF bulbs I've tested, is that it does not last anywhere near as long as claimed. The package says "Lasts 5 Years" I installed this bulb in my breakfast room in August 2011 and just over a year later in Oct 2012 it burned out. Disappointing.

These bulbs are great. I have others like it that I have had for a few years. Those take a while to get to their maximum brightness, but these new bulbs come on instantly. They don't look like ordinary CFL bulbs which is good because they are in a bathroom fixture that normally takes round exposed bulbs.

I will add this comment to the videothe customer service does seem to care about whether you are happy. I have not corresponded with them at this time, however they did contact me via email after I received them. They just asked if I was happy with my lights. They want the opportunity to right any issues I may have before I leave feedback. I took that as a good sign, that they care enough to make sure their customers are satisfied. You'll see other reviews describing similar experiences with this company.

Everything I wanted to relay is in the video, howver I will also say this: I do think that they are a bit overpriced for what you receive. They are nice, and the yellow glow is refreshing vs the usual bluish hue of most lights, but $44.99 for 12 small string lights is a bit much. I spent the extra money because I figured they must be very bright for that kind of money. I don't think they are bright enough to warrant the price. Again, the look of the lights is very nice though, and they do work, so if price is not a variable for you, and you want a nice amber glow with your lights, then I'd say these are for you, but if you're expecting super bright lights because of the price range, then move on.

We really love these lights! We added these to our recently built yard swing frame and they add just the right touch of light. They do burn brightly way into the early morning hours which is nice for Spring mornings, while having coffee, outside. I'm really glad we bought these to accent our new yard swing!

I think it was a raccoon. Sooooo, I ended up splicing the wires and wrapping them back together. Sure enough,,, it works as good as new. These lights have a good glow to them and are of good quality. I purchased 2 strands of these lights recently and have been very pleased with the way they look and function. I did notice that one of the set of lights began to shut off within a few minutes of coming on after dark and found out that a few of the rechargeable lithium batteries were defective and not fully charging, resulting in the problem. A call to Britta Products was met with immediate customer service and a resolution for the issue with the lights. They sent out 2 replacement batteries and said that if the problem wasn't corrected, they would replace the strand. I highly recommend these lights, not only for their beauty and ease of use, but for the prompt and fast customer service provided by the manufactuer. If there are any other individuals that have experienced this problem, they can go to Britta Products website or call their customer service number at 562-209-8270. It's nice to know that there are still companies that stand behind their products!

This is a high-quality timer, well-designed with all the features you would want. Easy to program, and easy to override the program. But make sure to read the fine print before ordering. There are several similar models, but they differ in wattage requirements and neutral-wiring requirements. You have to dig deep into the product details to discover this.

I have had 4 of these switches installed for over a year now, and they have been simply excellent. They are straightforward to program, and they have worked flawlessly. They also look great.

I bought these insted of the intermatics, which are simply AWFUL units. The Intermatics use mechanical timers, and they burn out all the time (I have many friends who moan about them regularly). These units are MUCH better, being digital. No problems, no complaints. An unconditional recommendation.

This is a very easy to install timer. It installs in a two wire arrangement, where there is a hot wire, and a wire coming from the light fixture, and each one comes to the switch. This is how 99% of the switches are wired in the US, so if you aren't sure which of the timer models, this is the model to buy first.

It will also install on a three-way circuit. Such circuits are common at either end of a hallway, where two switches operate the same light fixture. In that case, there are three wires running to each of the two switches. Note that if you are installing a brand new circuit, you only need one timer, and the second switch need only be an inexpensive single pole switch, the cheapest you can buy, as the second switch just signals this unit to turn the fixture on or off.

As other posters have noted, the minimum wattage is 40 watts. If you have a single fluorescent bulb on the circuit, this timer probably won't work, unless the bulb is 4' long tube. Maximum is 500 watts, and the instructions say it will get very warm at 500 watts, so that may be pushing it.

Once installed, the instructions step you through setting the clock, and then programming the settings. Programming is simple, but note that the programming leaves a little to be desired. The reason is this: each of the 7 settings (one setting includes an on time and an off time) either is used for a single day, or all 7 days. There is no option to set a single program entry for Monday Friday or Saturday-Sunday. If you want the lights to come on in the early morning, go back off, come back on in the evening and go back off in the late evening, but only M-F and stay off on weekends, you're out of luck. That would require ten program settings (2 for each of the 5 days) and you only get 7.

However, there is a clever way around this if you don't mind the lights being on for 2 minutes twice per day on Saturday and Sunday. What you can do is have it come on in the morning all 7 days and go off in the late morning on program 1. Then have it come on in the evening and go off in the late evening all seven days in program 2. Program 3 comes on one minute after the start of program 1 and then shuts off one minute later, Saturday only. Program 4 does the same thing on Sunday. Program 5 comes on one minute after program 2 and shuts off one minute later on Saturday. Program 6 does the same thing on Sunday. And woo hoo, that does the whole job with one program to spare! Saturday and Sunday will have lights on for two minutes twice per day, but I can live with that. I tested this and it works. So I kept my rating at 5 stars.

Note that the programming of on and off times allows different days for on and off. If you want the light to come on Tuesday morning and off Thursday evening, that only counts as one program. You cannot reverse the order of on and off in a single program.

This is not a countdown timer. You can't press a button and have it go off a set amount of time later.

Programming is protected during power outages by a rechargeable battery that is supplied. The lights will not work nor will the clock display during an outage, but programming is held. Why they didn't just use memory that doesn't erase is beyond me. I didn't see any instructions on replacing the rechargeable battery, so I assume this function will only work for the first 4-5 years until the battery conks out and then it will lose programming at a power outage. The programming is fast and easy not a big issue.

The plate under the clock can be pressed to turn the fixture on or off while the program is running. At the next program event, on or off, the switch will take over again. There is a setting to suspend operation of the program without losing the programming, so that you can operate it manually and the program will not take back over at the next event.

Instructions are extremely clear.

The clock is not lit, so you can't use the unit as a night light.

The white version I ordered does not exactly match the color of the switchplates you can buy for this product. So be aware it won't look perfect, though it's close enough.

Others have had problems with the competing brand, Intermatic. They say that competing brand doesn't last. Time will tell if this is an improvement (UPDATE: 3 years later, it's still working fine). I have half a dozen of the competing brand's timers for years and I haven't had any problems with them.

Nowhere in the description does it say this product is incompatible with CFL, but it's front and center on the package. It is therefore mostly useless to me. I would have liked to have known that before I purchased it. So, thanks for nothing.
