The lights were first put up as Christmas decorations in our rear yard. Now they are a permanent fixture, providing ambient lighting where none previously existed. An inexpensive solution that required no digging or expensive fixtures, just some small nails in the fence and a long extension cord to an existing outside outlet.

The lights have been up since Christmas, 2012 and are used in the early morning and evening. Burn out rate of the bulbs seems low (approximately 3% since initial placement), with some early failures after first placing them on the fence. I also noticed that, when bulbs went out, they did it in pairs. I soon realized you needed to check both bulbs because usually it was only one that was actually burned out. Replacing bulbs is easy, just pull out and pop in a new one!

Lastly, as advertised, the other lights in the string do stay lit when a bulb goes out.

The sockets are a perfect match to what I found in stores and the ones still in my pendants. I've replaced all 3 of the sockets and the lights work great again. No more contact issues or flickering bulbs. They came nicely packaged in a bubble envelope and they arrived quickly and undamaged from CA to MA.

I wish they came with the bulb clamp like my broken ones. I had to remove it from the old ones for re-use.

MY ADDITIONAL ¢:

I have three pendant lights over my bar. Two were finicky and the other was completely broken because of overheated/corroded sockets. I searched multiple brick and mortar specialty stores since I could not locate the socket at either Home Depot or Lowes. I finally found some selling for a whopping $ ea and thought no way so I jumped on to Amazon and low and behold LED Wholesalers to the rescue. At ¢ ea, I purchased 9 of the sockets (6 for future replacement if necessary) plus ~$ for S&H was equal to one from a local shop.

As a side note to anyone running halogen lights. My three pendants are rated for 50W bulbs, but I swear the sockets failed because of the build up of heat from these hot halogen bulbs, which sped up their degradation. I plan on switching to a much lower Watt LED bulb for the future or at least the lowest Watt halogen bulb (20W?) I can find to try and avoid/prolong the life of these sockets.

These "pigtails" are used for replacement wiring of lamps that use these but the original has broken. They are also ideal for new wiring of low-current fixtures such as LEDs that have an MR16 or MR11 two-prong base.

Pros

* All of them in the box worked, which is what matters.

* Stable connection for housed lights (e.g. for rewiring a desk lamp)

* The leads are supple and easy to use, for instance bending through tight corners in an existing fixture

Cons

* The connectors seem slightly loose, such that if you want to hang a lightweight bulb from them with no support, you'll need to bend the prongs on your light, slightly.

Other thoughts

The silver reflective layer you see in the product image is not for removal. It keeps the spring-loaded contacts from coming loose.

I had originally given this four stars, because they worked but were a bit loose. After a year in service they all still work, haven't cracked, remain flexible and work fine, so I'm upgrading to a 5-star.

These connectors worked great for setting up an outodoor lighting project I did. I used these to connect to the LED lights sold at amazon. They are powered by a solar recharged battery system and work as expected. The construction seems solid and I don't see any issues with the longevity of the item (sealed in jars outdoors).

One of my in-pond lights occasionally will leak and short out or corrode the lighting socket itself. This is a perfect replacement and saves replacing the expensive entire fixture. This bulb is very well made, puts out a lot of light, and uses only 14 Watts of juice. It's warm white in color, so it matches the halogen PAR spots we use in a photo gallery. I purchased this light after I was out of state and had to replace a alternator on my car after dark and in a hotel parking lot, my nephew had one of these lights that was a life saver, I worked in the underground coal mine for 20 years, so the light on the hat was very easy for me use laying down, it has a perfect tight light pattern and extremely bright , really bright on any mode but on high amazingly so bright, I am unable to hunt anymore but I did do alot of coon hunting and night sports, fishing, frog gigging walking in to deer hunting or into my duck/goose blind. I wish i would have had this light back then, now, when i got my light it comes with a plastic bump hat, which is a nice way to wear the light, but I removed the light from the bump hat by carefully drilling the the rivets and then I ordered a soft ball cap from western rivers that has bracket on front of cap to attach the light head lamp, then used two screw together rivets and fastened the battery pack on the back of the hat, the two vent holes in the ball cap was spaced together

Fully extended upwards this lamp is 2 ft. tall. It's a bit over-sized for my computer desk, and I need to keep it in the corner to keep it from blocking the screen. Still, with a 60 watt bulb it produced an excellent light for writing checks or reading printed material, and it maneuvers easily into different positions, although the peg that holds the lamp arm in the weighted base is a bit wobbly. There's a screw to keep it from coming out, but it rotates a bit too freely with a bit of a wobble. Still that's just a minor flaw.

The major flaw in this lamp is that with a 60 watt, or even a 40 watt incandescent bulb, the metal shade and housing gets very hot. I've had this lamp a month or so and when it's on for more than a half hour I can smell the lamp over-heating. It's also very hot to the touch. The metal shade is close to the bulb, and the shade and top are not vented in any way, so there's nowhere for the heat to go. The metal of the shade and housing retains the heat of the bulb.

In order to try to eliminate what worries me about the heat produced by this lamp, I just ordered an led light bulb on Amazon: "Kobi Electric 07166 LED-AR-13W800-50 Dimmable LED Light Bulb".

This led light bulb is advertised to heat up to about 85 degrees F. (less than body temperature), while the surface of a 60 watt bulb is close to 400 degrees F (like the inside of an oven), and a 40 watt bulb is over 300 degrees F. I didn't want a florescent bulb in the house because of the mercury if it breaks. I'm hoping the investment of another $20 for a 13 watt led bulb that is supposed to produce the same 800 lumens as a 60 watt incandescent bulb, but without the heat, will make this lamp a keeper. I ordered the led bulb that produces a 5000K white light which is closest to daylight, although they also make one which is 2800K that produces a warmer light similar to the 2700 K light color produced by a Reveal incandescent bulb.

I bought 2 of these lamps back in August, 2012. On one of them, the dial that turns the lamp on/off broke within few months. And I cannot return it anymore, of course. I don't recommend this product.

I was looking for a lamp for my desk/workspace, and this fits the bill. The dimensions listed above are true to size. The arm of the lamp is highly adjustable. It bends and rotates at the base. The lamp head can also rotate. I found that sometimes it slides back, but I'm sure that is due to the extra oil on the joint and will stop with some wear. The switch (located at the top of the head of the lamp) is very easy to turn, which is good because the lamp tends to get very hot and it's not a place I want my hands lingering. As noted by the other reviewers, the "green" lightbulbs are too long to fit under the lamp head, which makes them look weird. I'm sure the manufacturers of these green bulbs will eventually make a smaller size that will be perfect for this lamp. In the meantime, I prefer the old lightbulbs anyway. I am very happy with this purchase.

I ordered this and a competing black plastic solar flashlight at the same time to try out solar powered flashlights. If you're my age, you might remember the joke "That makes as much sense as a solar powered flashlight!"

This puts out almost as much light as those Eton Microlink emergency flashlight radios. Walking across the back yard at night, you'll see where you're going with ease. But if someone's a ways away from you on a walk with your dog on a dark street, you won't be able to identify much about them--it's dim and has limited range. Overall, the light is dim and has no bright center focus, though it's not entirely diffused; it's focused. But realistically, if you're walking down dark streets at night, you'll want a tactical 1-watt flashlight or better. What attracted me to it was that it looks like metal (and it also feels like metal, though it's very light for metal) and has an almost retro-modern look to it. Plus it was cheap enough to try out without it having any reviews on here. It's genuinely old school in terms of LED tech too, though. Modern, quality flashlights utilize single LEDs, usually that are flat and square, that put out exponentially more light than this one's compliment of seven very low power LEDs do. Also, note that it's susceptible to humidity according to the owner's manual, so it's less than ideal as an emergency flashlight. Those Eton Microlinks are also humidity impaired, BTW.

The other I tested, also available on here in 1and 2-packs, is the Solar Lite flashlight. It's sold in a 2-pack by Hybrid Light for $25 at the time of my writing. Made of black plastic, not metal. Bulkier than this flashlight, and a little more expensive, it's significantly more functional. Firstly, it has a button battery power backup in case your emergency comes with a more urgent short term emergency after the primary battery has failed. More importantly, though, it's SEVERAL times brighter than this flashlight, waterproof, and I even confirmed that it floats by filling up the kitchen sink and dropping it in. IMO, it's worth the few extra dollars.

So, if you're looking for solar flashlights as part of your emergency preparedness kit, this is not the one. But if you want a "green" flashlight to light your way in normal circumstance as an everyday battery-free tool, this thing's adequate and downright visually attractive.

The three stars indicate that "it's ok" by Amazon's standards.

This is NOT a review of Amazon, but a review of the bulb. I bought four of the #9266 lights which each came with a 9166B bulb. All of them worked when I first installed them, but a week later one of the lights quit working. I swapped bulbs between two of the units and determined that the bulb was bad. For as expensive as these things are I expect them to be more reliable. I've had similar disappointments with other fluorescent lights from Lights of America. Considering that the lights are made in China, why do they have this name? The only way I can see to get a reliable light is to buy several and throw away the bad ones. Not very cost effective. I wish somebody else made these things.

As for the claim that they put out the equivalent of 500W, I used these to replace four 400W metal halide lights. There is no way these put out as much light as my old lights, but I am glad to be rid of the high electric consumption and the buzzing.

Bought this light bulb and it was the wrong one. So, when I contacted the sender, I was informed that I would not only have to pay the reshipping cost but there would also be a $5 restocking fee. It is a ligtbulb, not an air conditioner!

It was not worth it for me to send it back. This practice of charging a restocking fee (regardless of the product) sucks and needs to be changed if they ever want my business again.

I bought a bunch of these bulbs in one color for a display that I had. As for its quality, a bulb is a bulb in my opinion. But I will note that all of them came out of the package intact and lit up fine. And they have lasted a very long time. I recommend the seller here most of all for they were the cheapest for colored lights such as this I could find after a very thorough internet search. And they arrived very quickly. (Believe it or not I found lighting sites online that wanted as much as $3.00 a piece!) If this something you're looking for in quantity, buy them here and save....

Ive searched many places, i ended up buying two of these for a project in the bathroom. Installed them, the first one just shined up the showerwow we loved it, but the second one did not funtion at all, changed them out just to be sure there were no faulty wiring, nope the led just did not work. Contact the seller, they would offer to replace the item so long as i shipped the original back, well. Again 2 of these for $27. Shipping the item back 6.00 buck more. Well that just to much for light bulbs for me. You decide... but keep in mind im not giving up, we love the way these led bulb display light and you may as well.

When this bulb would not work with my X10 light dimmer switch (it would flash rather than turn off), I attached it to a normal light switch. But Unlike other LED bulbs in my home, when I turn this light on, all of my X10 switches stops working. I measured the noise level in my electrical wiring using a Stetzerizer Microsurge Meter and discovered the noise level increases by a factor of 20 when I turned this light on. Also I measured a significant electrical field around the light using a Trifield 100XE EMF Meter. There are some who would consider both meter reading to indicate a health hazard....the readings were well outside the range considered "safe" by the sellers of the meters. I have no idea how well these safety standards are accepted, but I do know that I want my X10 system to work.

I have a bunch of dim PAR20 CFL lights in my office that my landlord installed. They burn out CONSTANTLY. Much faster than any other bulb type I've tried. Thought I'd give the LED bulb a shot...figuring it would be just as dim or worse than the CFL's. It actually makes a clean, bright light. It is a very white spectrum, a little different than other bulbs, but very good to see by. I'll be replacing the other ones with LED's as they burn out.

I used these light bulbs for my stove range hood and they do the trick. Although, I will say that when I used the "low" light setting, the light bulbs seemed to flicker. It isn't too noticable but you can tell. Other than that, the color temperature is very white with a bluish tint. Was expecting them to be a bit yellow-er, but no worries.

Overall, the bulbs serve their purpose and look good!

This guy had no reviews. I was hesitant to buy, but it turn out to be an excellent product. The 10W white LED is very bright. The white color is like the day-time white in regular bulbs. Significant improvement on color and quality over the typical Chinese-made bulbs on Ebay. Fast shipped. I also tried the warm color white. I prefer the warm color over the day-light white.

Bought these for an outdoor light string recently. Thought I may have to put a dimmer on the string, but found it is not needed. These bulbs put out a nice soft (yellowish)glow that allows for good night time visibility, but no harsh glare. By the description, they offer a long life too. Good buy!
