We have a couple dozen outdoor dusk-till-dawn mercury vapor lamps (at least) around our property, and as with any bulb over time they go out. I ordered these because they were cheaper than at the local store, and also had the quantity I needed.
Amazon packs these exceptionally well, I had no damaged (broken) bulbs. However, about 1-in-10 of the bulbs were DOA, but you could tell it was more a manufacturing defect than a shipping problem. i.e. one of the lead wires in the bulb was not welded to complete the circuit.
+1 to Amazon for the great RMA process. It didn't cost me anything to ship it back (you print out a pre-paid label) and they over-nighted the replacement (even though they didn't have to).

It show that it is a clear bulb but when I got it is not clear bulb it is a white bulb. Im not happy with the product.Best Deals for Designers Edge L-789 Mercury Vapor 175-Watt Mogul Base Lamp
I rated this product low due to the fact that the image seen on amazon shows a clear bulb -WHICH THIS IS NOT! -I specifically wanted a clear bulb , and this product is white frosted ! --anybody ever hear of "false advertizing" While it is too time consuming to return this product , I will certainly be amongst those who will not buy from this seller again.
I wonder if Amazon , which has an excellent reputation with me , is aware of this problem?
