To say I was pleasantly surprised is an understatement. I loved the crisp packaging and incredible design of this tool. With it's hard anodized aluminum finish, O-ring seals, Xenon lamp and metallic-vapor coated reflector this is easily one of the best flashlights I have ever owned. Because the Surefire E2D is a tactical light, it is held in an icepick fashion and operated by a tailcap switch. You push the button lightly for momentary activation or press all the way to leave on.

I'm a martial artist and I can attest to the importance of being able to effectively protect yourself without raising the eyebrows of the law. For those that believe in this, this is THE tool to own. The E2D is both a visual and impact weapon combined. The flashlight uses a Xenon bulb, a conductive gas bulb, the same ones used in projectors. At a blinding 60 Lumens (light intensity), it's enough to leave an assailant seeing stars while you get away. Should the need arise, the flashlight can function as a nasty Yawara stick. The Surefire E2D is armed with scalloped bezels, as sharp as screwdriver tips, at both ends that can be used for hammerfist and thrusting strikes. If you want to get a rough feel for what a hammerfist strike is like, take a metal or wooden rod, hold it in an icepick grip and slam it as hard as you can into something. More than likely it will leave a distinguishable dent. The only difference with the Surefire is that the scalloped bezels are fashioned like teeth to concentrate the power and even puncture the target. That's enough power to crack a skull, break bones and/or leave a nasty bruise. It's highly recommended you only use the flashlight in this manner when your life is in danger. Applying joint locks is not out of the question although the natural reaction for anyone is to strike first. For those trained in such styles, the E2D is a great pain compliance and control tool whereby the sharp ends of the scalloped bezel can be used to grind into pressure-sensitive and bony areas to subdue an assailant.

Lastly, the flashlight can also function as a fistload, reinforcing your punches in a self-defense situation.

With that being said, this flashlight is definitely something that should be looked into.

I always carry a nice pocket knife and a flash light .

I have the executive defender. I wish i had gotten a light without the sharp edges on it. I mean they aren't sharp like a knife, but in your pocket they don't feel good if you carry the light and reach in your pocket for change. I have had my light cut a hole in a pair of pants.

that being said, i love this light, the batteries don't last long, but i normally don't have my light on for an hour where i cant get to a fresh set of batteries.

my chief complaint

The belt clip cant compare to the one on my Benchmade knife.

If you are like our family we all hike, bike, hunt and camp as much as possible. The surefire defender is lightweight, compact and for the product you receive is very affordable. Once seeing the surfire defender you will want to purchase one for everyone in your family especially your female family members. The Surefire Defender is brighter than my Mag Light and easier to carry.

Small, but exceptionally bright, this light outperforms any larger lights I've been able to match it against. Shining it on a huge eucalyptus tree outside our house, I'm able to see details at the top, something that no other light has allowed me to do.

I own a 1/2 dozen surefire flashlights. This one is small, light, durable and bright. The striker bezel is a great impact weapon as well. I carry this one with me, all the other ones have their own places around the house and cars. If you can't afford this price point but need a bright flashlight, go with their G2 Nitrolon: for $35 it can't be beat. If you don't need the blinding 60 lumens this model provides but have the bucks to spend, then take a look at the LED models they offer such as the L1 LumaMax or E2L Outdoorsman; They don't provide the high intensity, but the batteries last much longer and their slightly higher price pays for itself in battery cost and replacement bulb cost savings. Nothing beats a Sure-Fire flashlight!

I put two of these in to replace two lights that went out. I can't tell a difference in light color. I think these LED's are actually brighter than the halogens I replaced. I will order a few more of these to keep on hand for when the rest of my halogens die.

The specs are amazing.

50k hours, 2700k, 9w for 40w equivalent brightness, dimmable, 5 year warranty!

The only drawback would be the 25 degree narrow beam angle, but I'm ok with that.

I can't wait to get my next order so I can save even more on my electric bill and never have to climb a ladder again.

I have bought Philips, Feit, Toshiba, and others, but this TCP lamps take the prize.

I have over 40 MR-16 lights outside and over 50 inside. At 50W per halogen bulb, I want energy efficient replacements, but the quest for LED bulbs hasn't been easy. I compare this bulb with two other top-rated bulbs I've bought, the LED MR16 Spotlight 12V 4.5W (370 Lumen 45 Watt Equivalent) 45 Degree 4000K Cool and the LED MR16 Spotlight 12V 4.5W (330 Lumen 45 Watt Equivalent) 45 Degree 2900K Warm.

Color: This bulb has a clean, white light without a blue or green tint the most natural (or least distracting) I've found so far in an MR-16 LED. It's definitely whiter than the 2900K and warmer than the 4000K bulbs reminds me of the GE Reveal incandescent bulbs. But it's no halogen if you want that soft, warm, yellow light for ambiance, this bulb won't come close.

Beam angle: The 4 lenses don't disperse the light very well even though it claims a 60 degree angle. It definitely spotlights down. If it's installed close to a wall, the lenses create streaking lights against the wall due to refraction i.e. no smooth oval outline. This may not be a problem if the bulb is recessed deep into the housing (or if you don't care about the outline). The 2900K and 4000K bulbs disperse wider even though they claim only a 45 degree angle. Again, nowhere close to a halogen.

Brightness: The lighted spot itself is actually brighter than the 2900K bulb but because the dispersion is worse, it feels darker from a distance. I think it's better suited for task or spotlighting than, say, a room or closet. The 4000K is brighter. It's not a 50W halogen equivalent somewhere between 20-35W is more accurate.

Size: It's deeper than a standard MR-16 but not as deep as the 2900K and 4000K bulbs. It doesn't fit some of my fixtures. Be sure to check that you have an additional 1/4" depth clearance for this bulb.

Temperature: This bulb runs hotter than the 2900K and 4000K bulbs. It's probably because the LEDs are recessed behind the 4 lenses where heat gets trapped whereas the other two have exposed LEDs. But it's a fraction of the halogen. I was able to remove the LED by hand within a minute after switching off.

Bottom line: It's a good LED replacement for a 20-35W halogen depending on where you install it, probably better outside than inside. It's also very inexpensive for a LED. If color temperature and brightness are important to you, you'll need to get one and see it for yourself all LEDs just differ too much. I'm getting more for some of my fixtures, but I'm still hunting for better color and brightness that match the halogen bulbs. I'll update the review about reliability later on.

Update on 5/13/2013: I was reviewer #3 of this bulb, and it's been over a year. 4 of the bulbs have failed under daily use. 3 started flickering off and on at first, then cut off completely. 1 turns on but is about 1/5 of its original brightness. This is a 5% failure rate. I have purchased several other LED bulbs and will update this review later to compare. I still think this is a good bulb at a good price, but I'm may drop my rating if I get more failures. One other warning. Every order I placed after the first one came with the promise of a discount or rebate if I gave this bulb a 5 star review. I still stand by my original 4 star rating. But it makes me wonder if some of the 5 star reviews have been "bought."

Update on 7/13/2013: 8 of the bulbs from a lighting set of 22 have now failed under 8-10 hours of daily use. 2 more bulbs from another less used set have failed. That's a 36% failure rate in less than a year and a half for the first set and 12.5% overall failure rate out of 80 bulbs I bought. Are these TORCHSTAR bulbs really worth it? I compare the bulb against my gold standard halogen bulb the Ushio Titan FNV 50W. The Ushio has fantastic color, dispersion and longevity (rated 18,000 hours on par with LED). 80 Ushio bulbs lasted over 7 years at 8-10 hours of daily use (only 2 failed bulbs) before I replaced them with TORCHSTAR bulbs. I have 20+ Ushios still going strong elsewhere. Both bulbs cost about the same. At 10 cents per kWh and 9 hours a day over 7 years, the Ushio cost: $7 (bulb) + $16.38 / year * 7 years = $122. The TORCHSTAR would cost: $7 / bulb * 5 bulbs for 7 years + $1.31 / year * 7 years = $44. TORCHSTAR is roughly 1/3 the cost of the Ushio over its lifetime. But the TORCHSTAR is about half to 2/3 as bright as the Ushio. If I were to use a Ushio 35W, the TORCHSTAR rises to roughly 1/2 the cost over its lifetime to a comparable halogen. 50% savings is great, but nothing to write home about when it comes to LED. Never mind the hassle of replacing bulbs more often. I'm better off with a more expensive, higher quality LED bulb that lasts longer. I'm dropping my rating from 4 to 3 due to the short life of this TORCHSTAR bulb. It's a decent to good bulb, not a great one.

Update on 10/17/2013: 3 more months, and 3 more failed bulbs. That is now 13 failures out of the set of 22 that gets 8-10 hours of daily use. A TORCHSTAR representative has claimed that the bulb's quality has improved. I will order a few more new bulbs to verify and update this review with the results.

I have tested 11 different brands of led MR 16 lamps, looking for lamps with a warm white color and a high

level of light output. Price also enters into the picture as I need a large number of them. I use them

to light my model railroad scenes. The railroad occupies 2000 square feet of space. I am converting the

lighting from halogen to LED lamps to reduce the power consumption so I am looking for lamps with comparable

color. I have found two other brands with comparable performance but at three times the cost. For me, the

two important specfications I look for are color temperature, 3200K or less. Light output 320 Lumens or

greater. Torchstar 4 watt led MR 16 lamps meet both specificatons and at a reasonable cost. Torchstar lamps

also operate well on both 12 volts AC and 12 volts DC. Several of the lamps I tested have a very annoying

flicker when operated on 12 volts AC.

"LED MR16 3200K Warm White Spotlight 12V 4W (340 Lumen 50 Watt Equivalent) 60 Degree Beam angle" did it for me.

Illumination These came out a little whiter than I expected compared to my halogen bulbs, but still warm enough for 3200K.

Dimmable These were advertised as dimmable, which others weren't for around the same price range.

Price One of the most inexpensive ones on Amazon for the features it offers.

Power Enough power and brighter than my original halogen bulbs.

Beam Angle Great angle, if you are looking for a wide angle beam.

Low Wattage Like most other LED bulbs, these are 4W, and they don't heat up like halogen. Love it. Power Saver!

Honest reviews on TORCHSTAR LED MR16 3200K Warm White Spotlight 12V 4W (330 Lumen

We have about 50 halogen MR16 bulbs lighting a small bookstore. The LED bulbs do fit and function just like an MR16 bulb but the light is not the same. The negatives, from least important to me to most are: The spread is narrower. The light weaker in comparison. The hue has a greenish tint.

I purchased two of these bulbs and installed them over a month ago. I was really tempted to purchase replacements for our whole facility, but I wanted to see how they worked. I can say that side by side comparison to a halogen, the shelves appear dim under the LED. When I hold my hand out about 4 feet under the bulbs, one below the halogen, one below the LED, my hand looks greenish/grey under the LED where it looks pink and normal under the halogen.

I would love to get these but I'll just wait until the technology gets better.

That said, I should note that depending on your application my complaints may not be an issue to you. We are a retail store and want to flatter the merchandise and facility as much as possible. If you are looking for utility lighting etc. where aesthetics aren't a concern, these LEDs are a cheap and easy solution.

I was a bit worried at first many of my friends had replaced with their down lights with high voltage products and removed their 12 V transformers, but I was pleasantly surprised when I found that all I had to do was replace the bulbs, and the dimming still worked. I went with the Warm colour to emulate traditional down lights, and now am using 4W per light instead of 50W. The other things I was warned of was the flicker of using 12V on my transformers. I installed five of them and have not noticed any flicker regardless of dimmer settings. I did this as an experiment in one bedroom only. On my next order I will get enough to do the whole house. Happy to recommend the lights, as they actually perform as promised. Amazing there is so much rubbish out there too, so its nice to get something that does what it says!

1000 Lumens should be a 60 watt equivalent. I tried to replace a single 23 watt compact florescent bulb with 2 of these alleged 1000 lumen bulbs. A 23 watt CFL bulb is considered to be approximately a 1600 lumen source. Therefore 2 1000 lumen bulbs should give off 400 lumens more light than a 23 watt CFL, even more so an OLD 23 watt CFL bulb. In this case these 2 bulbs did not even come close. Therefore I would not consider them to be 50 watt equivalents, much less 60 watt equivalents. I fully understand that the color light given off is going to be different, I am not addressing color differences, which there are. Rather, I am speaking strictly intensity. I consider these to be 25 or perhaps at best 40 watt equivalents, and I have no idea how they are rating these as 1000 lumen bulbs.

The LED's in this light are very bright, it's hard to look at directly, (leaves camera flash dots in your eyes) it gives off a cool blue light about the same color as a 175 watt Mercury Vapor yard light. it's a little more blue than the cool white circle lights used in kitchens, or workshops through the years.

I installed the Philips Ledino Pendant today over a kitchen table, adding to a collection of Ledino fixtures throughout my house. I've been very pleased with the Ledino line. This pendant was fairly easy to install, and isn't as heavy as some other Ledino fixtures that incorporate glass and solid aluminum. The fixture itself is very thin (but has a pretty large diameter); the thinness makes it almost disappear when looking at it from the side. The light is focused, crisp, and a nice color temperature. It's modern and good looking, and largely disappears into the environment -it has a small visual footprint and the lights don't produce any glare from the sides.

There are a few things you should be aware of if you're considering this fixture.

The photo Amazon has is quite simply wrong. It shows the three support cables holding the fixture from the ceiling mount, but it doesn't show the power cable. A power cable -significantly larger and more noticeable than the steel support cables -wraps its way around the three cables. There is a hole in the center of the ceiling plate where the power cable comes through, and Amazon's photo doesn't even show that hole. Maybe there's a version somewhere that sends power through insulated support cables, but that's not the one Amazon is selling. I don't mind the power cable (the pendant would be far less effective as a light without power, after all), but know that the look will be a bit different than what Amazon is showing.

Also note that the Ledino fixtures are very finicky with dimmers. You need to have a dimmer that is rated for LED lamps, otherwise you'll get loud buzzing and flickering. I had three Philips LED lights bulbs (60-watt replacements) installed in the previous fixture above my kitchen table, connected to a traditional wall dimmer switch. Those Philips light bulbs worked OK with the dimmer, but the Ledino didn't. So if you have an older dimmer, you may need to upgrade it when you install this (or any Ledino) fixture.

These solar lights are what i was looking for. They are brighter than my whole neighborhoods solar lights. These solar lights have a special solar panel. They charge in cloudy and sunny conditions. They give off a good amount of light. Only wished that the battery was larger(600mah), it should be at least 1500mah but u can always replace them with better ones. The design of the glass bulb is superb and the style is wonderful. Great buy for the price.

In these modern times, there are loads and loads of different kinds of toys to be made. However, not all of them are good, and I am into things which look cool, I could care less about a robot that walks, talks, beeps, and blinks.

These fiber optic mini trees are sold on Amazon.com, what better plays to find the best things? Anyways, they also happen to have the best deals most of the time, I saw these trees on there listed for $7.00 with free shipping, so I thought I would pickup a couple of them.

First thing I noticed when I got them out of the shipping box, is that the trees are incased in plastic tubes to protect the micro fibers. I just slide them out of the tubes and right away the fibers want to spread out in their tree like form.

The base is all made of plastic, but its very shinny plastic! Lets just put it this way, it looks like chrome, you touch it, you smudge it. The trees operate on 3-AA batteries, of course not included, or will operate by a 4.5VDC adaptor, which is also unfortunately, not included.

The base has a power switch on the bottom of it to allow you to turn it on or off. Though the micro fibers are not bright enough to see in broad daylight, you can however see them at night. Which is fine by me, since most neat light shows are done at night anyway.

For the $7.00 I paid for each one, I have to say I am quite impressed with the micro fiber trees. I just wish that they came with the adaptor so that I did not have to burn through batteries all the time. Get your rechargeable's ready LOL. 4 out of 5

I always wanted one of these. I love the novelty lights and things like that but my lava lamps always clumped up and I broke my electric static ball so I finally got one of these. It's nice to look at when I'm trying to go to sleep at night and just plain nifty.

Honest reviews on Mini Fiber Optic Light - Blue

this product is really great i have had it for months om months and it still is working and the lights on the inside still shine bright, whats kool about it is that it says on the lamp base that i can buy a 4.5 volt adaptor and plug it in instead of using batteries that saves me alot of monry on buying batteries, now it runs off batteries too and the batteries last a long time to since i had the lamp i not once had to change the batteries in it, this is a very good product, for people that like fiber optic stuff like me this is a very good item to buy.

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Mini Fiber Optic Light - Blue

This light is only blue, so it does not change colors like the other ones do. At first it seems like not all of the fibers work, but it is actually just the beam of light from below the fibers is too narrow for the base, and therefore, not all the fibers light up. It will come packaged poorly, as last week I ordered the one that rotates and changes color by the same manufacturer, but it was delivered in a crushed box, and out of the product package inside the box. I ordered this "smaller" one to replace that one, and it is actually identical in size, with the only differences being this one does not rotate, and it does not change to the other colors.

I was happy to find this lite, because it runs off of batteries. I live in a rental and can't use anything that has to be hard wired. When I received the light, I liked the look of it and it looks nice when placed on the wall. The light was very bright in the beginning. I have replaced the batteries 4 times since the purchase and it has never been the same. The light just gets dimmer and dimmer. I replaced the batteries again today and the lite would not even come on. I chose to request a return and was told that I would only get half back for what I paid for it, plus I had to pay for the shipping. By the time that I paid to send it back, it would have cost me the half that they were willing to return. What a waste. It's making it's way to the trash. Poor customer service. Don't back their products.

the concept of the product look clean: no external wiring, flexible angle adjustment. However, the battery ran down too quickly (approximately 3 hr for a set of 3AA batteries). I'm giving this 3 stars because it would be unfair to give it 5 or 1...

I have not purchased this flashlight... Because I can't figure out what it is.

At one place in the description it says:

Dimensions: length 8-1/2", barrel diameter 3/4", lamp-head diameter 1-1/4"; weight with batteries 7 oz

In another place it says:

Product Details

Product Dimensions: 5 x 3 x 12 inches ; 8 ounces

Which is it?

12 inches or 8-1/2"

barrel diameter 3/4" or 3 inches

lamp-head diameter 1-1/4" or 5 inches

The picture doesn't really help either. It says it uses 3-AA and puts out 100-120 lumens. That would be acceptable if true, but I'll never know for sure, because I need a flash light with a barrel diameter of no more than 1 inch (3/4" would be better). I'm not going to buy it if it doesn't match my need, and since I can't be confident... no sale today.

I don't like how most solar light path lights have a bright cool-white light that shines in your eye and barely lights the surronding area. Not these beauties! They illuminate downwards only with a soft, warm light. The solar panel is on the top of each light fixture and there are no wires connecting each piece, enabling you total flexibility and ease of placement. The metal is a chocolate brown with a bit of a glossy sheen. We've had them up for a couple weeks and we're very pleased.

I used these on the side of my service gate between the neighbors home. Not the most ideal location for these due to being the most shaded area of my home but they get about a solid 3hrs of direct Arizona sunlight from noon to 3pm or so. Lights come on around 7 to 8pm pending time of year and have a yellowish tint to the lighting very similar to low voltage landscape lighting, in my opinion. They typically start to fade with limited charge around 1am. The head of these units come off at the top of the base allowing me to move these to the part of my yard that gets complete sunlight and with that charge, they last ALL NIGHT into morning. I do this only the day of when I know we will have guest in the backyard and a possible late night gathering into morning hours. Only thing that bothered me about these lights is the plastic stakes have a long cross pattern and don't necessarily go into the ground straight in and can turn on you if there are large rocks in the ground. The base has a square insert but if it were round, you would be able to turn it to face the specific direction you would like or correct the angle of the top. The square base and peg makes it set to how the stake enters the ground.

I bought these solar lights about a month ago, and I have received many positive comments about them. Good light even when clouds prevent full charge. I would definetly purchase again (and will, when the price comes back down).

Look great, nice subtle light. Don't expect super bright because light is 100% down, but that is what I wanted.

Big downside is that after 2 weeks one light has failed completely. After 4 weeks a second light is glitching on and off. The other 4 are fine. I really can't recommend these lights.

I work for a full time professional FD in Las Vegas, and i get real use out of my equipment. All in all, this light is mediocre, the articulating head is nice for going from crawling around on the ground doing search to duck walking for fire attack, and the magnet is a nice touch for throwing in a doorway. Overall i'm unimpressed with this light. Typically streamlight makes the best products, and i have several other pieces from their lines and love them. This one, however, just doesn't stack up.

The number one problem with this light in my opinion is how broad of a spectrum it throws, it's nice for a clear dark room, but anything in even a lightly smokey atmosphere and it just doesn't have any penetrating power to be useful, i feel it also lacks the brightness it needs to do any real working good.

The second issue i have is with the design. The first interior fire i had that i took this thing in on, my low pressure hose to my mask knocked off the rubber cap that holds on the enclosure so the whole head fell apart and onto the floor, and subsequently got trampled on. Then when i tried to get a replacement reflector (the only piece i couldn't salvage from the burned debris on the floor) i got the run around from the company.

The end result for me is that the poor light performance coupled with the poor design make this a bad purchase for the price with so many other better options out there.

I love everything about this flashlight, love the way the head swivels and rotates. Very strong magnet. A few friends of mine want one now also.

While I have no doubt that this flashlight will meet most of my needs for its intended purpose of hanging off of my bunker coat and use at fires, I do have a couple of concerns when compared to the Streamlight Survivor right angle flashlight. So, here is a quick breakdown of the pros and cons.

Pros:

Almost the exact same height and width as the Survivor

I find it to be brighter than the Survivor

The alkaline version is slightly lighter in weight

The belt clip is exactly the same (just chuck the magnet)

Feels to be built just as rugged as the survivor

The articulating head is a nice touch

Looks different than everyone else's

Cons:

More expensive

Has a very wide almost floodlight like beam, so I don't know how well it will work in a thick smoke environment.

I'm also not sure (based on the packaging) if this flashlight is intrinsically safe

This is a fantastic bright flashlight, rock solid design and construction, great form factor. I have high end flashlights including surefire, fenix, and others, this flashlight meets or exceeds the other products and is a much better value. It was instantly useful to me as it massively lit areas while I did electrical work. The clip is extremely useful. I removed the magnet as I didn't want/need that, it is designed to be removable. The clip is great for your belt or to clip on anything convenient. The head is infinitely adjustable and beam/brightness superb. At the price point it is my best overall performer. Online videos show it surviving being run over by a truck. Once you handle it for a while, drop it a few times, you will see why. It is a product that makes you feel safer doing dangerous work in confined spaces. I do not do emergency work but if I did, my guess is this would be a goto flashlight.

I work in a power plant, lots of coal dust, grease, fly ash, you name it and I needed an explosion proof reliable hands free flash light and I got it all with this light. While I don't need the blinking light or the moon glow? (What's that about?) I do use the high and low power settings. I haven't found a better light for where I work yet and I doubt I will. I love this light so much I am going to buy another one. The area that is lit on high power is truly amazing, especially when I'm stuck in some crapy dirty upside down position and the light head rotates 360degrees and the knuckle is over 90 degrees putting the light right where I need it. You can't go wrong on this light.
