I received two of these as presents. The idea of the product and its features are great. However, setting up the turn-on sensitivity is tricky. In a dark room, with the unit turned on and set for 10 seconds, I had to cover the entire face with my hand, then take it away. Adjust the sensitivity dial. Repeat until the LEDs come on when I removed my hand. Finally got it to turn on with motion. Same with the second unit.

Once they were set and working, the motion detectors were reliable. Adjusting the LED lights brightness is a good feature. As a test, I set it on the floor in a dark room, and the cats set it off! I like the convenience of the door hanger/stand.

If you received one and are having trouble getting it to work, try what I did to set it. Gave it 4 instead of 5 stars for the setting difficulty.

I use this under the bed to illuminate the floor when one of us gets up at night. I have it set to stay on for 20 seconds, and the batteries have lasted over a year. The illumination is excellent, even with the dimmer turned way down. This is much better than a night light, since it is only on when you need it. Since it has settings for the sensitivity to ambient light, a dimmer, and a setting for the number of seconds to stay on, it is very versatile. Also great in a bathroom where you don't want to turn on the big light (and noisy fan) in the middle of the night.

I suspect the unit I received had an over sensitive sensor, it was constantly on with very little to trigger it.

I bought two of the Light Owls so could have one on each side of the bed for when hubby or I need to make a middle of the night bathroom run and with a big black dog laying somewhere other than on his bed at the foot of the bed, walking in the dark was dangerous. These little lights are terrific. Come on immediately when you get out of bed and put out enough light we can see where the dog is in the dark. Turn off when all movement is over. I'd read a review before I bought them about great lights but the initial setting them up was very difficult. We had NO trouble whatsoever and love love these little motion lights. Highly recommend them as they have their own stand and are so easy to place wherever you need them and move them around to any location. No attaching to walls and being stuck with a unsatisfactory placement. Plus the seller I purchased them from way exceeded the projected delivery time. Very satisfied with both the items and the seller.

This lamp is not only beautiful, but it works well. I did a lot of shopping before buying this one and I'm happy with my purchase. The real glass and sturdy design is a big plus. I'm not sure what the other reviewer was talking about. We simply turned the light on during assembly. The turning it on and off happens automatically when the sun goes down, etc. Why would you go to all the trouble to actually do it yourself every day... Seems silly. Overall, I'd recommend this item to others.

This is probably one of the best solar products I have found. I wanted a yard light, and with the addition of a new patio, I decided an old fashioned lamp post would be the most attractive, and appealing. I searched Ebay, the internet, then finally Amazon. I found this product, and read the reviews.

It may be a little more expensive, but believe me, spend the money, it is well worth it. There is somebody on the reviews that complained about the on-off switch, but who cares, it's SOLAR! Why would you even want to turn it on and off? So, This lamp post is made very well of cast aluminum, and has real glass in it. It is quite tall, and makes a nice addition to any yard. It is constructed well, and goes together easily. Now, how does it work?

Better than expected. It comes on at dusk, and the chrome cone inside intensifies the light. The LED's inside are extremely bright, and this puts out a good 20-30 foot circle of light. It literally stayed on all night, and I mean 8-10 hours easy. It did not fade by morning, it was just as bright. I would highly recommend this, and if I ever need another one, I will by this again.

We paid a little more for this lamp post but it was more than worth the extra cost. The lamp post is well made, well packaged, looks great, and gives a wonderful light. We poured a concrete foundation to make sure that it didn't move. We planted some flowers around it and the neighbors love it. Also, we needed to replace a small o-ring weather seal and the customer service was nice and quick and easy with 2 new o-rings within 2 days. We would recommend it if you are looking for a good quality and good looking and good functioning lamp post. Although we have only had it for about 1 month, we have no reason to expect any issues.

I bought my 6-D cell magLite in 1984 and stocked up on the Xenon bulbs at the time.

Somewhere around 1994 the last one burned out.

I couldn't find them anywhere and my requests to Mag Instrument Co. for more only yielded lists of local dealers that did not stock them.

The Xenon bulbs for the 2-D cell magLite are easy to find and are brighter than the common Krypton bulb is in the 6 cell light, so my 6-D remained in a drawer for fifteen years until I found these replacements on Amazon.

These are the ONLY bulbs to use in the 6D cell magLite and they're really hard to find, so STOCK UP!

I paid a premium price for 2 of these Maglite 6-D Cell MagnumStar bulbs and I'm severely disappointed. Looks as though Maglite has succumbed to the temptation to build cheaper to reap higher profits while performance severely suffers.

I've come to expect MagnumStar bulbs from Maglite to have a snub nosed front end shape comprised of a specially ground glass lens providing a sharp focus of the light beam. That's the characteristic that prompts me search for these special bulbs.

The two MagliteMagnum Star LMSA601 bulbs I've received today have just a plain glass teardrop shaped bulb so these bulbs offer no focusing improvements over regular bulbs. These bulbs are, of course, for my 6-D cell Maglite flashlight. I lug that heavy flashlight around because I want to be able to pierce the darkness to see at great distances. Sharpening the beam focus is extremely important for that task. A tighter beam illuminates a specific subject or region with more light at great distances. In the past a MagnumStar bulb's extra focusing ability helped provide a tighter beam. MagnumStar bulbs no longer provide that extra focus since they are now just plain glass.

Magnum Star bulbs are also supposed to be Xenon instead of Krpyton. These bulbs are marked "6 Cell XE" which I presume means "Xenon" but you surely couldn't tell that from the performance. Usually, I can swap out Krypton with Xenon and tell the difference. These MagnumStar's received today don't seem to provide any brighter light nor are they any whiter than plain Maglite Krypton bulbs.

I won't waste time searching for Maglite MagnumStar (Xenon) bulbs any more until I see someone post that Maglite has reverted to the former design. There's just no longer any performance enhancement offered by a MagnumStar bulb as far as I can tell.

I just want to warn you that the MagnumStar bulbs you've come to depend upon no longer exist. The price is the same. The package is the same. But, the product in the package has been swapped to something of inferior design.

I know that I am going to search for some other brand of bulb. Somewhere, I hope to find something with a focused glass lens and a high performance filament/gas design. That's not Maglite MagnumStar any more, though. Sad but true.

I actually bought a couple of these bulbs today to try in some old Maglites I have. I bought one for a 2C/D light, and a 6C/D light. The first light I tried upgrading was a 2C Maglite. Results with this light were actually quite underwhelming. The bulb seemed to be whiter than the original krypton bulb, but not noticeably brighter. Interestingly, trying this same bulb in a 2D Maglite seemed to produce better results than the 2C light. Maybe D cells are better able to provide the increased current that this bulb requires? I'll have to try the 2C light with NiMH batteries (which supply MUCH higher current than alkalines) to verify this. But overall, I don't consider this bulb to be a significant upgrade for a 2C/D Maglight. Overall, the xenon bulb seemed to be a MUCH better upgrade for a 6D light. The six cell light was both whiter and brighter with the xenon bulb by quite a significant margin. Of course, I still haven't tried the 3, 4, or 5 cell xenon bulbs. But I'm guessing that the degree to which the bulb will increase light output will probably increase with the number of cells.

In any case, because this is a very inexpensive upgrade for ANY Maglite, it's certainly worth doing. Even though the results seemed to be underwhelming for the two cell lights, they are worthwhile considering the low cost of the bulbs themselves.

Ok so i ordered one of these because of good reviews but these products came directly from china and used chinese newspaper as packing.

NEGATIVE ASPECTS:

BUYER BEWARE! the descpription says the product is dimmable, HOWEVER it does not come with a dimmer switch.

I work in the metal industry and know how hard it is to achieve a brushed finish on a welded box. the material started with dents and pits in it so no amount of polishing will take imperfections out, so the end result that shipped to me was not the greatest looking item.

The Light is very bright, if only it had a dimmer...........

GOOD ASPECTS:

It was very easy to install and the wire covers look nice

The arm is very sturdy and holds any position you put it in. It feels pretty solid and not flimsy

Light does not emit enough heat to feel, so its not uncomfortable to lay under.

In the end i like the product, but for over $100 each, i expected better.

Just what I had hoped it would be. Small,bright,not hot like halogen bulbs. The gooseneck is easy to reposition when reading and the light stays mostly on the book so it is not so intrusive on the other side of the bed. It was easy to install and looks great.

i read at night with a small efficient LED flashlight. the problem is propping the flashlight so it comfortably illuminates my book. it limits my reading positions somewhat. i bought these thinking that it would be better. they work great, clip on to my reading glasses, and bonus! i can point the spots of light where i need them so i don't have to nod my head around like you have to do with a headlamp. booklights are fine, on the book, but not for looking around elsewhere. these light up what ever i'm looking at.

two Buts: they use those coinsize flat batteries, which are not as cheap as AAA's. mine just ran down after about a week and a half of nightly use, i don't have any replacement batteries, so i went back to my flashlight. get some spare batteries to have on hand.

when i clip the lights up near the hinges of the glasses, where they don't get tangled up in my hair there is a bright light shining in the corner of my eyes. there are little blinders on two sideds if the bulb, but not on the top and bottom, and they are bright! i had to make a couple of little blinders out of black electricians tape to shield the bulb from my eyes. there is another model that has two LED's per clipon. might be more light.

I bought more than 3 pair of this light for me and for give aways. In my personal opinion I have found them very useful when i'm working in a very low light enviroment, laboratory procedures or just if the lights go out. I haven't tried them in hard hats, just in safety glasses and it holds just right, DO NOT try to put them on your everyday use glasses, they won't be stable and you might as well drop them and break them (believe me, i tried once).

The only thing that i've noticed is that, since the first day i started using them, the light sometimes became tenuous or weak, and had to give them a little tap to correct it, but then it worked great.

Don't let the item fool you. I purchased these for my dad. While he does not have poor eyesight, he does use magnification when reading smaller print and the newspapers. He places these on the arms of his maginification glasses and reads-away. He doesn't read the paper without them. It is a direct illumination to the spot when reading. I could see where these would be great for the nightime when when your sleepmate wants the light off and you need a light on. Also, when you are working on something like screwing in nuts and bolts or working in a dim light area for a little extra illumination on a particular spot. Great product when just a little extra light is neededparticularly for reading purposes! I recommend this to all!

I was looking for a practical, indestructable light fixture for my backyard. It didn't need to be pretty, just tough and utilitarian. This fit the bill.

Amazon's dimensions are incorrect. The bulb housing is about 8.5" in height and the diameter of the mount is 4.5".

Pros:

After reading one of the previous reviews I was concerned about the mounting problems he had encountered, but I purchased anyway I just had to try it myself. Yes the previous reviewer is correct the mounting holes do not line up correctly with a normal electrical wall box. The fixture was designed to be mounted with the included surface mount box bummer. After being a bit disappointed, but not willing to be defeated or use the ugly surface mount box I began to work on a way to mount them. Our house has a stucco exterior so I proceeded to take the old fixtures off and hold the new ones up and marked where each of the four holes would have to line up on the stucco. I used a masonry bit and very carefully drilled four holes into just the stucco and carefully put in a wall anchor. These new holes and anchors worked perfect to mount the fixtures. Remember to take off the rubber gasket from the surface mount box and use it between the fixture and the stucco to make a weather tight seal, a little silicone didn't hurt either. I used various wattages (9w and 13w) of the new Phillips mini twist compact fluorescent bulbs (Home Depot 4 pack for $7.99) in the fixtures and couldn't be more pleased with the light output and how they look. I installed a total of 9 fixtures around the exterior of the house. Building codes can vary across the country I suggest you check yours to ensure your installation complies.

There are five problems with the light. The photograph has the "attachment pads" edited out. That is because they are jacked-up, and must be oriented at a 45 degree angle to install the wiring box. They should be horizontal. The wiring box has no standard electrical installation holes, so you can't use standard electrical components to mate the light to. The light vapor seal glass is slightly too long. It interferes with the explosion proof cage, so the cage does not install correctly or at a nice centerline orientation front to back. The cage will be cocked because you cannot seat it on the intended 3rd detent to snap it in place. The wiring is #18 braided aluminum? Twisting this wire to 14-2 solid copper is tough and may not be to code. The wiring should have connection screws.

Perfect front porch lamps for my beach cottage. Looks like they came off an old tugboat. The glass is beautiful and the whole structure is solid.

I had zero problems hooking it up. That's because I used the mounting box that came with it instead of jimmying it directly to the wall like some of the other reviewers did.

Yes, It is true, and strange, that the photo doesn't show the mounting box that attaches behind it. The mounting box is a cylindrical "can" as wide as the attachment plate shown in the photo and a little less than 1.5" deep. Personally, I think my lamps look better with the the mounting boxes, more like some kind of found nautical relics. I'll post a photo one of these days.

Bottom line: Beautiful, solid, and functional.

I was looking for something to control the lights i wanted to put behind my TV. Everything i found was soooo darn expensive and did way more then i needed. I looked on all the usual sites and this was the only place i found that had what i wanted. This little guy was very easy to wire up. It's fun, it works, but...

It comes without instructions so you have to figure out how to use the DYI keys. Press they DYI key you want to set, adjust color with the arrow keys, then press the DYI key again. Done.

On my unit, the blue and green settings are reversed. So when I try to adjust green, blue reacts and vice versa.

Otherwise, it does what it says. Worth it for the price.

I ordered a set of rgb lights with a power supply, a remote, an IR receiver and this extra Remote/receiver pack. I intend to cut my strip in half and use a power supply that I found at the swap meat so that I have two fully independent half strips of about 7.5 feet each. I received the bigger remote pictured in the description, which I quite enjoy. The colors are not all true and the white is a little blueish, but the peach setting right below it makes for a pretty good light. I use it to light up my whole room from a ledge above my window. The customizable light settings (DIY1-DIY6) are fun to play with because you can adjust RGB to your desire, but they are considerably more dim than the preset colors, of which there are twenty. The fades can be slowed down for good mood lighting and the jump settings are good for freaking out friends. Also, the remote is IR, so the remote must be pointed at the receiver. It does have considerable range though (I've tried 40 feet). Overall, an exellent product for the price but there are some kinks.

We got this controller (along with these lights http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00476B908/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00) for a party.

While we didn't like the lights very much, this little controller is a superb toy for the money.

This isn't a digital controller that can individually address LED's It is designed to work with strips that have all the LED's connected in parallel.

The IR receiver (the blob on the end of the thin wire) is sensitive and seems to work no matter where you point the remote, within reason.

The little white box is small enough to be stashed away out of site.

It works by sending a different voltage to each of the red, green, blue LED segments which in turn varies the brightness of each color. The result is pretty much any color you can be bothered to dial in.... it takes a little patience.

You can choose from pre-set colors (the colored buttons you see), a color you have saved to memory or you can set any red, green, blue level (the arrow buttons you see).

It can flash on & off, vary the speed, fade into the next color... all sorts of nifty effects.

Ridiculously cheap for what it does but comes without a power adaptor. I used a universal laptop supply. Worked great.

I ordered 2 of these. Upon connecting them to my light strip, I discovered the the colors on the remote didn't match up with the colors I was getting from my lights. I opened up the housing and found that the RGB wires were in all the wrong places. The housing has a QC sticker, but apparently that doesn't mean anything. I re-soldered the wires in the correct locations and now the colors of the LEDs correspond to the buttons on the remote.

The directions don't describe how to use the DIY buttons, but fortunately another reviewer had that covered.

The price was great. However, in the last two months, two of them have stopped working within two weeks of installation while the others in similar fixtures with a different manufacturer's bulb have now worked for several years. I will not buy the Hikari bulbs any more.

Standing between them, there is a distinct buzz coming from the Higuchi.

This item seems sturdy and well-built, and powers-up with 120VAC right out of the box (just add an AC power cord/plug. It's pretty bright although may not quite equal a 50w Halogen. It has a nice wide projection field, ideal for lighting-up a 90°-120° angle area with 25 feet or better of usable light distance. The light field is fairly consistent, although there is a bit more light towards the center of the field. Still, it fits the "flood" light category just fine.

Inside the front (light) compartment sits a 9-element (3x3) LED array, embedded in a single substrate about 1/2"x1/2". The array is mounted to the back of the front housing with screws and Zinc Oxide conducting compound to pull the heat into the cooling-finned housing. Inside the rear compartment sits a small (switching-type) AC-DC converter module, with is labeled V-in 65VAC to 277VAC, and V-out 20VDC to 35VDC. The actual measured output (using 120VAC input) is 45VDC open circuit, and 32VDC under load (with the LED array connected). The 9 LED elements are wired in series (internally and cannot be re-wired), resulting in a 3.55VDC drop across each LED. Unfortunately this unit cannot be used with a 12VDC power supply, unless a 12VDC to 32VDC (DC to DC) converter module is used (about 10 bucks +S/H online) to replace the AC-DC module and provide 32VDC to the LED array.

The actual measured input current to the entire light fixture is .0612amps at 120.2VAC, resulting in about 7.356 watts of total power consumption. The amount of power that the LEDs actually receive/consume would be a little less due to some small amount of loss in the power converter.

After 30 minutes of run time, the output was still bright, and the housing had warmed-up a little (to perhaps 90°F-100°F), but still quite cool compared to any other type of light source, and easily handled at operating temperature.

The housing is comprised of two compartments, each of which is sealed with a semi-clear silicone gasket and held together with screws for easy (dis)assembly. Wires from the converter (rear) compartment connect to the LED (front) compartment via two pass-through tubes running between the compartments. The pass-through tubes are sealed with manually applied clear silicone sealant. The AC wire exits the housing through a compression fitting, which is also sealed on the inside with additional manually-applied silicon sealant.

The sealing job seems sufficient for any out-door use where rain or sprinklers might wet it regularly, but I would thoroughly test the fixture first before considering underwater use especially at depth.

This light's a good deal (at $15) if used for its intended purpose with AC power. Hopefully the technical info above will help other who are looking to use or modify the light for other purposes...

The unit itself is not to bad. The cord is a little short (~10"). Good color light. I am impressed with the internal connections. They are soldered. Waterproofing is good. All the covers have gaskets. 10 watts is plenty of light for total darkness to light a whole deck or small yard.

It is well designed and well constructed. Meticulous detail was paid to the paint coating and water proofing design and execution.

The power cord is only 6-7" and that may require replacement for many applications.

A small current limiting circuit is adhered to the inside of the cable housing and appears to be well sealed against moisture. Light output is excellent (but 50 W halogen equivalent may be pushing the hype a bit) There is a ground wire for the case and it was properly connected internally.

Very wide angle beam, very bright, very satisfied with it.

I installed this particular light in the garden, replacing an old spot light. The results have been disappointing for several reasons. The light is not nearly as bright as advertised. It is so dim, I will need to replace it. Another factor is that unlike other LED's, this one heats up. The unit looks well built and was easy to install (careful with wire colors no instructions came with unit), but its simply so dim as to be worthless.

Received my light and I am quite pleased with it. The light is very bright and came with a 3ft cord with a 3 prong plug on the end. I cut the plug and hardwired this light on my front porch and this light gives off a lot of light for such a small package, also i love that it is only "rated" at 10 watts. Didn't measure it so i can't confirm if it is genuinly 10 watts or not. 4 stars because this "cool" white LED actually looks very blue. I wish it was a little more white. If you are familier with the kelvin scale, i'd say this light is 7000k-8000k...it would be perfect if it was 5000k-6000k. All in all I am happy with the light and happy with the seller, Loftek.

Well the photo of the item makes it look smaller than it is. I actually should have purchased a C7 and not a C9 but the photo doesn't show it to be as large as it is. No sense in returning it (I actually bought 7 of them) as it's not worth the postage. I e mailed the seller twice to see if he had smaller bulbs but so far he hasn't had the courtesy of responding, even though I was clear that I wanted to purchase a smaller size and wasn't looking for a free replacement. So although the product is ok (if you need a large bulb) the seller isn't one I would care to buy from again.

I was really happy to see how bright this thing is. LEDs have been put everywhere in the world, and finally they're bright enough to be used in portable work lights! I literally have nothing to gripe about. It gets similarly warm as a halogen does, but only uses 63-watts instead of something like this 1000-Watt Twin-Head Work Light.

The hinges let it point up or down, and the body of the light feels very durable. Knowing that i won't have to replace another bulb makes this work light worth its weight in gold.

This is not 1200 lumens, but 1000 as it states clearly on the box if it matters to your decision. Otherwise might rate 4 stars. Will pretty much scorch your eyeballs though. So far it seems to be a very usable tool especially for indoor work. Stays cool.

But then it doesn't use fragile bulbs. We've all broken work light bulbs, right? Then what? You got a spare anywhere close? Probably not. Having just gotten the thing I don't know how fragile it might be, time and other reviewers here will tell.

It's got more than enough light for me, but how to demonstrate? I uploaded some indoor photos at night, just a slight light from a hall and this L1315.

It's a little pricy, but if I don't ever have to change a bulb and it doesn't make for added sweat, I'm happy with it. I'll just have to find something else to keep lunch warm.

I received the first unit dead on arrival, so I used Amazon's fantastic return policy to replace the item. I received the second item two days later, and used it for approximately five hours. The unit suddenly flashed very bright for .5 seconds, and then it dimmed to about 20% of it's original brightness. My single LED AAA headlamp (with an old battery) was brighter than this light after it stopped functioning as promised. Again, I am using amazon's return policy.

I'm happy with Amazon, but the light is not worth the tape I used to seal the box and send it back.

I use this for working on my classic Impala and it lights up the entire interior night or day! It is 2x brighter then my old 300 watt halogen lights but with almost no heat. The old lights would cook me and my interior within 20 minutes not to mention the 3rd degree burns if I touched the wrong part of the frame. This one is very light and stays cool to the touch. The plastic lens heats up a bit after the light has been on for like an hour but not even enough to burn. HIGHLY recommend!

I've tried 2 other name brands and 5 knockoffs. This is by far the best everyday carry unless you are satisfied wit a pinch-light. Very small vary bright. love the controls. prefer using the 3 v batt but love that you can use the 3.7 v for 700lm. Cons 3.7v doesn't last to long. Think I may prefer the Cree Xm-l T6 Led model for outdoor use in fog.

I received this as a gift from a buddy. He knew I didnt have one to carry and he purchased this. It is powered off of a CR123A battery (Similar to my Surefire lights). This thing is TINY! It is small enough to fit in my back pocket and not get in the way. The twist to change mode, and then half click the button to switch is a bit tricky. I find myself only using the low and high illumination. Only time I use the strobe is when I am showing someone the light. I love how bright it is for the compact size. However the first night I used it, I caught it on a car seat (You dads will understand..) and bent the clip, Using a torx screwdriver I removed it and bent it back. No problems since. THe clip is also chrome in color, while the rest of the body is black. I wish it was black to conceal it a bit more when clipped on my person. I would def recommend for a good EDC light.
