Cons:

1)It arrived without the extension tube which was prominently featured in many of ePathDirect's stock photos. The phrase "Additional aircraft-grade aluminum alloy tube, Support a 296mm long outdoor extended flashlight," led me to believe the product was bundled with the extension tube. This means the flashlight can only accommodate the 2 battery configuration at roughly 230mm.

2)Also missing was the third battery. Not only was the battery also featured prominently in the photos but it was listed under ePathDirect's description of "what's in the box."

Pros:

1)The product arrived very quickly, 2 days ahead of schedule.

2)It did turn on. It's bright. Retina-cooking bright.

3)The batteries are labeled on their jacket with "no memory effect, short circuit, overcharge and discharge protection." (No listing agency is marked however.)

(The lumen rating doesn't appear to be ANSI lumens, but some other lumen standard. The brightness is less than what Americans would consider 3800 lumens, but I don't have a meter, so I don't exactly what the difference is.)

For the price this is still a decent purchase. It comes in at about a quarter of the price of comparably a bright Surefire. Which is to say, "bright enough that I would be comfortable performing a fair amount of surgery under it." The case is solid, with less parts to loosen, rattle, break, or otherwise confound operation than some other knockoff flashlights. The untreated, unprotected glass lens makes me worry since I plan to treat this flashlight about as well as it's price commands and no better. But for the cost, I'll make a replacement if I have to. By including the charger and batteries ePathDirect made bundling the right parts foolproof. Minus one star for a misleading listing and another for the missing parts.

EDIT:

1 star now.

The light failed after less than one hour of use. It no longer turns on when I press the button. It flickers on if I shake, or occasionally stays on if the light is pointed directly at the ground. So minus another star for build quality. I contacted the seller about the missing battery and extension tube. The customer service representative, Jenny, told me that, "We have checked our sku and listing. It seems that other seller changed the listing. The item we listed was a flashlight without the extended battery." Obviously as of April 6, 2012 that is an out-and-out lie. If you are here today or before (or perhaps after) the listing includes language for both the third battery and an extension tube to accommodate it. Her response only says "extended battery." I don't know if that means "third" battery or extension "tube" but I doubt she meant to address both missing pieces with that sentence. Minus another star for customer "service." If you get a working light with all the pieces and don't need to contact customer service you've got yourself a 4 star product considering the price. If.

It's great! not too large, in fact the handle is fairly thin. This puts out a beam that lit up a 15 foot area 100 yards away like an WWII searchlight. Using the extension doesn't seem to change things much. It is well made and solid. I went to battery warehouse for batteries which they just began to stock. I was waiting on my online battery order to arrive via Hong Kong Post and that takes a while. I like it.

This may be a good light one (1) strip is in the package but I won't know until I find a 12-volt transformer to attach to it (after cutting, stripping and soldering the wires). Several fasteners are provided, including a connection for more strips, but no power adapter, and after a 15-minute search, I find the only one for sale at AmerTac comes in an expensive 3-strip pack which I don't need.

Not knocking the product, but fair warning: if you assume you will get two strips and be able plug them in for use as-is . . . not without further purchase. Too bad, they probably work well, and will hide under a cabinet edge of just over a 1/4-inch. That part I really like.

***UPDATE*** see the comments. Some purchasers now are receiving units without a plug (just bare wire), though mine shipped with a standard 3 prong plug. Also, the seller has put new pictures up, which do show the bare wire. My rating is for the unit WITH plug.

Ordered this light to use for a small fish tank (3 gallons). I was debating between this one and a similar non-color 10 watt LED (only a few dollars cheaper, but had many positive reviews). Overall, I am extremely pleased with this purchase. Here's the details:

-Shipped in a small beat up box with no packaging/insulation, but the LED light itself is very rugged and shows no signs of wear.

-Lamp is an industrial gray color, kind of ugly on top of my fish tank but would probably fit in well outdoors mounted on your siding. That said, the housing is small enough that it doesn't stand out.

-seems quite water proof/rugged. At least it hasn't had issues with significant splash from my fish...

-It's compact, about the size of a large orange (though box shaped, obviously) and surprsingly light weight (the bulk of the device seems to be a heat sink in the back)

-It doesn't get too hot on the front surface, certainly remains "touchable" after hours of use. Even the back surface is not too hot to be dangerous to a toddler's hand.

-It's actually 3 LEDs red, green, and blue. When all are lit it appears white. Differentially adjusting the brightness seems to allow a multitude of colors, from pure green/blue/red to shades of purple/yellow/etc. But I suspect it is slightly less bright than a single white LED. That said, it's really bright (I guestimate equivalent to a 70 watt incandescent light bulb)

-the white light is nice and white. Not too blue, not too yellow. But if you don't like it, there's a light blue and light yellow color choice as well

-there's a remote control with some nice functionality:

-choose from the different color options (but you can't fine tune the color options, just the choices on the remote)

-three brightness settings (but the different brightness levels are slightly different colors, for example bright white is more bluish and low white is more yellowish)

-choose if the LED light should scroll through the colors (in rainbow order), and if so if it should step between colors or fade gradually (several options)

-turn the light on/off

The only negative I've found so far is that the remote is the ONLY way to control the light. There is no physical switch. Also, the light does not seem to reset to a more natural white default when powered down, so don't lose the remote when the LED is in rainbow strobe mode...

Otherwise I am very happy with this, but not nearly as happy as my toddler (who thinks I can magically change the color of his fish tank).

I purchased 2 of these at an irresistible price. The only bad thing about this item is that the cord attached is barely 5" long which makes it difficult to connect into a junction box without extending it. I used solderless butt connectors to join the cord to the extension and sealed them with heat shrink tubing to make weather tight. Once installed they work great as landscape, accent, or security lights. I put one on my front porch along with a motion sensor and the other on a dark stairway entrance with a timer. The color changing feature is good for seasonal lighting. The white is a combination of all 3 colors. The color choice covers the full spectrum and is controlled by a remote. It also can flash and strobe for effect. (I doubt I will use those FX) I rated it 4 stars only because of the short cord.

I was skeptical of these lights at first, so I bought one each from 3 different manufacturers. All look the same, all come from China, but they are slightly different (i.e. the remotes don't work between them). I was most impressed with this model. Though they are all 10W, my light meter says that the other two put out 650-700 lumens on average (and less, like 300 lumens, on the dark colors like red) white this units puts out closer to 825 lumens (about 400 on red). I was impressed enough to buy 16 more.

I replaced a bunch of old 12V lighting in my back yard with these. Installation was easy, ran some direct burial 12/3. Since they are low power (but still house current 110V), I was able to run all 19 of these off one circuit. The color effects are nice. They light my palm trees really well. I'm about to remove all of the led rope lighting I put up two years ago and replace with these spots. Lots easier to deal with and I like the results quite a bit better.

First off, the seller is very helpful and if you need additional information or to swap your product don't hesitate to contact them, you will find them very responsive.

Since this is a world-wide product they elected to not put a plug on the short cord that comes off the back of the light. You can wire it into a wall/ceiling box or you can add a local plug for any power source 85v to 245v (AC). If you don't feel confident doing this type of wiring this seller has the product with a longer cord and US plug for sale at a slightly higher price.

I now use this light in my shop to test lighting effects on some of the smaller props and backdrops I build. This unit's flexibility beats using single color party lights but it casts only as much light as one of my 25 watt incandescent lights at least I don't have to change bulbs to change colors. I don't see much difference between "Strobe" and "flash" both just cycle the colors quickly; same with "Fade" and "smooth" just a longer cycle time. Also I don't notice much difference when changing the intensity settings; but that's okay since it is rather dim for my purposes and I just leave it at full bright all the time (and turn all other lights off for each test). And YES the white is slightly pink but I already have white lights in the shop so that's no factor.

If you are wondering, controllers for other LED lights that look the same as this one will not work on this and vice-versa; so if you have a few varieties of remote controlled LED systems keep track of the controllers there's no universal remote control for these (yet).

I purchased this with the intentions of converting it for use with a computer controlled lighting display. Upon arrival, I thankfully chose to tear the light down instead of plug it in. You can see what I found in the user photos attached to this product. First, the ground wire isn't even connected to the casing. The line and neutral wires were cracking from heat damage. The 120V to 12V power supply included is of a very cheap and dangerous design. There is no way I would ever plug this thing into a 120V circuit. I'll be using my own 12V power supply to drive this light. I cannot stress this enough though... this light is flat out dangerous. You are risking your life just plugging it in.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program For an office desk lamp in an office with a modern cast it will fit right in and look sharp. It isn't a lamp I'd have purchased ordinarily but I am very interested in LED lighting and this one became available for review through the Vine program for no cost. I wanted to rush the review a bit because the lamp delivered is not the lamp pictured although it is very close.

NOTE: The pictured item is NOT what you will get. I've uploaded two pictures of the base so be sure to look at them before ordering. The sphere instead of bar counterweight and the much shorter base cylinder makes the maximum height of the lamp a lot less than what's pictured for this item currently (Sept 25th 2012).

The lamp is shipped in one piece is very good packaging. The lamp itself is inside a made to order styrofoam case inside an inexpensive cardboard box which was inside the Amazon cardboard box. The cord is actually two pieces with the end of the cord terminating in a special thin two prong plug that plugs into a special adapter for your outlet. If outlet space is narrow you might have a problem. It is about the size of a narrow phone charger adapter.

Plug it in and go. Easy as that of course. The blurb about the choking hazard is with regards to the two piece electrical cord and wall plug adapter I guess.

This is, apparently, a bic lighter style lamp. The LED is not replaceable. So if that goes out the lamp goes in the trash or you fool around trying to get a warranty replacement lamp or perhaps a service center can replace the assembly? No way to tell from the contents of the package or the Amazon page. The simple instruction sheet is sensibly printed on an 8X10 piece of paper but the word 'warranty' is not mentioned anywhere on it. The only related thing is a mention of a damaged cord needing a qualified service tech for repair. The LED component is not made for self-service.

The light is not bright. I mean, really subdued like a night light subdued. That is perfect if you work in a darkened office and don't want to disturb others with a 100 watt bulb. If your decor calls for subdued lighting it will fit right in too. For example, if you are a teacher and you want a subdued light to do work while the class watches a film (or naps if that is your grade level), this lamp might be perfect since the arm will stretch it over what you are working on and direct the light down to the work space.

Along those lines, it is worth mentioning that you probably don't want to use it for long stretches in a darkened room. With your eyes in the dark and the work in the light it strains your eyes.

The LED component gets hot! Not like touching a long running edison bulb but you'll notice if it you touch it.

The adapter gets hot! Not dangerously for sure but you probably should have ventilation around it to prolong its life.

The instruction sheet advises against looking directly at the light source. Boy they aren't kidding. I saw spots for about 5 minutes lol. I think I counted 6 LEDs on the back of my closed eyelids while I was waiting for my vision to clear.

It is good looking and functional even if very dim compared to traditional bulbs. I knocked off a star for the hot-ish LED lamp housing, the limited height, the incorrect picture, and the disposable nature of the product.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program The lamp is not as the manufacturer pictures it, but another reviewer helpfully furnished annotated pictures for what shipped: the lamp with the round handle and round counterweight is what I have. The electrical cord, about 5 ft long, does not seem to detach at either end, and the adapter at the other end may be too large for some openings in a computer desk and need an extension that will fit through.

The lamp itself is smart looking, although limited in physical function. When the arm is level, the light head is only 6" above the desk surface. The arm, at least on my lamp, will elevate up to 30 degrees from the horizontal -it can go a little higher, but not as high as the manufacturer's picture indicates and it won't stay at any setting above 30 degrees, at least on my lamp. 0-30 degrees is okay, however, and I have set the lamp base on a desk speaker (+ 5") and it works fine on a pedestal like that.

The light will well-light a working surface of 12-18" radius. As long as the light is below eye level it doesn't glare, and it seems to use minimal energy. The light does stay horizontal in any elevation, and can be adjusted to tilt upward ahead of the arm -it does not, however, tilt to either side of the arm, and you'd have to rotate the entire assembly on its base to move the light laterally. The LED light is not replaceable and that is a downside.

It came assembled and was reasonably well-packaged in plastic, with foam outside of that. Instructions are minimal; they do talk about plugging the wire into the adapter, but mine came with the adapter inserted and, judging by the feel, is not detachable, or at least I didn't want to chance it. No warranty in the paperwork.

In short: nice looking, reasonable as a precise-area lamp, esp. if you want low energy use or to avoid glare.

I've been using an older style lamp similar to this one, maybe 13 years old. It used a dual-level brightness bulb which IS replaceable. I've always used it in the low setting so I've never had to replace the bulb. The LED bulb on this one is NOT replaceable and has a lower brightness level than I am use to. Once the LED burns out (and eventually it will) the lamp will be unrepairable and end up in the trash. The packaging was secure, it only came with a one-page "directions" sheet, with no company warranty, logo, address, or phone number. My reason for downgrading to 4 stars is....the one they shipped has a loose wire/connection. Raising the lighthead up, down, or adjusting it turns the LED bulb off. That is frustrating, though I can live with it, but for a $75 item (Amazon price) I would expect better quality control.

I bought 11 of these bulbs and replaced most of my apartment with them. I love them but I am also a geek. Here is a list of some of the pros and cons I have found.

Pros:

1. Unlike other LED and florescent lights these give off a natural white like incandescent bulbs. They mimic it perfectly.

2. Using HouseLinc Software I can set events. My favorite is having the lights come on slowly as I wake up to avoid shock.

3. Using my wall mounted mini controller I have two ON modes for my bathroom, 1 Full Bright 2 Dim for late night trips to the bathroom.

4. Dimmable

5. Very low power consumption

6. Same size as a regular bulb

7. Should last 30 years

8. Sheer awesomeness of watching your lights go on from down the street via Iphone control.

Cons:

1. Light distribution. Unlike regular bulbs this one does let light passed the back of it due to its metal heat sink. It looked funny in some of my smaller light fixtures where the bulb is very close to the translucent wall.

2. Cost.

3. Weight: About 4 times the weight of a regular bulb.

4. Has a "Ramp Rate" feature that is suppose to gradually turns the light on over a set period of time. It increments in stages and looks like a strobe light on slow.

Notes:

1. In Houselinc you can set the brightness, it has preset brightness levels of 10%,20%,30%. . . 100%, it's not obvious but you can also type in a custom number.

2. Houselinc requires additional hardware to communicate with bulbs, see site.

Nice bulb with a pleasing color temperature. Excellent dimming profile. Note, however, that this bulb does require an Insteon controller to take advantage of advanced features; if you want to be able to control the bulb from your computer, you will need to invest in other Insteon hardware. Price is actually very good when compared to standalone LED bulb plus lamp controller module. The bulb WILL work without an Insteon controller, it will just behave as a (rather expensive) LED replacement.

This LED bulb -albeit expensive -is quite impressive. It is certainly bright enough as a 60W equivalent. What makes it impressive, however, it how easily it integrates into an Insteon environment. I have a number of Insteon components in my home -and this bulb was, by far, the easiest to implement and program. The bulb is dimmable and easily controlled remotely via an iOS or Android app. An Insteon hub is required in order to control the bulb remotely. Set up and use is incredibly easy. Highly recommended!

I don't like this particular 4 pin CFL. It's not the manufacturer just being forced to have this light bulb irritates me. My kitchen and bathroom light uses this, so I am forced to get. I gave it 3 stars because the light doesn't last too long. If manufacturer make this in LED instead of CFL then it's a different story.

I'm not sure if this is an issue with all 4-pin CFL lamps, but they seem to die way too often to justify the cost of replacement. I bought two of these lamps in November 2011, and one is already dead after less than a year and a half. Hope that the other one lasts longer. I also bought a GE version of this lamp. Will see how long that one will last (the GE has a 5-year warranty, as claimed on the box, but if it fails, I'm not too optimistic on the warranty replacement; I'm not sure what the claimed Sylvania's warranty is).

I ordered this night nite for my newly renovated bath, (chocolate walls with white waiscotting). This nite lite has turned out to be the focal point in the bathroom. The picture of it on the amazon website does not do it justice, plugging it in and turning it on does. It sends forth a warm cozy glow throughout the bathroom. It came packaged in a lovely designed box that is very sturdy. It is shipped with a bulb in place and one extra. I expected delivery within a week; it was delivered within two days. It is a good feeling to purchase an item that supersedes all your expectations. I will definitely be purchasing more from this company.

I love this little lamp. My first one came with a bad solar cell but Amazon exchanged it no hassles, no cost to me. I've had the new lamp for several weeks now and I'm totally loving it. It is so cool to just pop the little cell out and set it in a window while I'm at work then when I come home it's all charged and ready for night use. No electric cord to hassle with, it's totally portable. I hope to replace more of my electric and battery items with solar ones. Every little penny saved on my electric bill is worth it.

I liked the size, weight and design of this light. The quality did seem a little cheap for Snap-On...made in China (what isn't anymore). I didn't like how directional the light was. You have to really aim it as what you want to see. It doesn't light up an area like my other fluorescent light did. I had it for a little more than a year of occasional use before it stopped working. One day it just wouldn't turn on. I tried charging it numerous times to no avail.

I bought one of these lights from Pep Boys, got it home, charged it, and...it didnt work!! I returned it, and the person that handled my return said they have alot of issues with these particular lights. I really liked the design, and how it was so light weight. So i searched on amazon, found this Snap On light and ordered it...i have had it for a week so far, this one held a charge fine. I guess maybe there is a bad batch out there. Anyway, i love this light...so its worth taking the gamble.

Anyone who is familiar with the Snap-on name knows that their hand tools can't be beat. Unfortunately, this light is merely trading off the goodwill that Snap-on has built up and does not offer the performance you might expect from the brand.

As others have noted, the light is highly directional, which is neither here nor there in terms of quality but which DOES reflect on how little light this puts out. Even with all the LEDs putting out light in the same direction, it is still not a bright light.

Also, the battery in this light is really poor. LEDs require a decent power source, so this light works as well as it can for a relatively short period of time before the battery voltage drops and the LEDs become worthlessly dim.

It is well built on the outside, but the insides are pathetic. Weak LEDs driven by a weak battery.

I would not recommend this product at half the price.

Not very pleased with this purchase.i have around 100,000 dollars in tools " mostly snap on" and this light was a disappointment to say the least !!!! Cheap feeling horrible lighting wow flea market snap on line great idea !!!!
