The lamps are exactly as described and just what I was looking for. I haven't started using them yet, but have had Westinghouse solar led's in the past and have been quite happy with their performance.

These 1 watt bulbs are exactly what I wanted for my front door. Many might think it should be brighter, but with one on either side of the door along with a street lamp it's great.The reason for the 3 stars is that one of the two bulbs failed after less than a week. I will order another and hopefully this failure is an uncommon occurrance.

This is a great night light. It doesn't keep me awake because of it's soft red glow, but I can see perfectly when I need to get up in the middle of the night. No more banging my shin on the corner of the bed! A regular night light was always too bright for me to be able to sleep. LED lights are still a new world hard to find very bright or very dim. I bought this for a night light, and it is a little bright, not bright enough to light a room, but more than you need for a night light. The light color is cold, stark white, not warm and candle-like like a low-power incandescent. I put an aged-parchment colored shade on the lamp, which helps, but it's still pretty spooky white. The bulb runs cool and lasts a long time. Like most LEDs on the market, it'll do for now, and by the time it needs to be replaced, there will be something better available.

I use this light with a kindle DX. It is excellent for its size and brightness, but the clip is too narrow to fasten directly to a kindle; it can clip only to a cover.
I considered (and tried a friend's) Mighty Bright XtraFlex 2 light, but liked the idea of a smaller, single battery light. This light fits that bill perfectly. Unfortunately, the kindle is too thick for the clip to hold to the light. The larger XtraFlex2 light could clip to the kindle, but is also best with a cover because its clip is wider than the bezel of the kindle DX.

this sucker is so bright! it's great. i even use it as a mini flash light late at night (i'm pregnant and sleep on the recliner b/c it's the only place i can get comfortable).
it's got one battery (AAA i believe, which is good b/c that means you don't have to buy a special battery), it's slim (which is huge b/c the last thing i need is something bulky when i have a kindle, a kindle case, and a light). it's neck is really long so you can position it many different ways.
it's just perfect all around.
i bought the medge light for my husband to go with his medge travel case and that was $30. this is 1/2 the price and does twice the job.
the on/off switch is really nice too. there's definitely no "accidental" turning on. as the other mighty bright light in the kindle store has complaints of.
if i could do this all over again, i would have gotten this in silver and black. (silver = me; black husband).
if i could find the case for the medge light, i would've returned it.
ps. i would highly recommend using this with a case. i am not a fan of clipping lights to a device.

I was a little worried when ordering about the quality due to a reviewer who reported receiving two non-working units, but lots of other reviewers seemed pleased.When I flipped mine on, I became slightly worried again, because it didn't flip right on.
(1) I checked the battery -it is shipped in the reverse position so that it cannot accidentally be triggered and run dry during storage.
(2) But it still wouldn't flip on! Turns out there is a thin plastic shrink-wrap film on the battery that has to be removed.
I can imagine someone overlooking either of those things and thinking they had a lemon. Be sure to check both of those things.
The gooseneck is firm and can be bent into almost any position.
The clip is firm.
The whole unit is light enough that it doesn't distort a substantial paperback. I have it clipped to the last twenty or so pages and the back cover of "Good Calories, Bad Calories" and it feels unobtrusive. It would probably distort a pamphlet or a magazine.
The light is very even thanks to a good plastic diffusor lens. It doesn't spill out over both pages of a book, which might be nice, but of course would require more wattage. Instead, it illuminates one side of the book well, and I give the gooseneck a little shift each time I go to the next page.
It is also a bit of a "cold" light as you might expect from an LED. Not terribly romantic, but the slightly bluish white is very crisp, even and sharp.
I have previously owned the original incandescent Itty Bitty Booklight. It ran hot and either required a wall adaptor or chewed through its batteries. This Mighty Bright LED model is a much more practical product.
I have used it about 5 evenings now -not long enough to give much indication of battery life. It uses a single AAA.

Let me say that I wish this thing worked. I'll get to that in a minute.First, Design-wise. 1. The clip. It clips well, even to a paperback, so long as you clip some pages in with the cover. 2. The flex-arm. Seems to be flexible enough to angle the light whichever direction you'd like. Great. 3. The light itself. Very bright. It does have a slight blueish tinge to it that didn't bother me. It also covered the whole page, and since the arm is so flexible, you can move the light away from the book to increase coverage.
But, alas. About 5 minutes after I turned it on, the light began to flicker. Now this is annoying. Well, I thought, maybe it's just the battery they sent has been sitting around too long. Nope. New battery, same problem. There's a short or something in the wiring or switch. And the flickering is unbearable when the booklight is the only light in the room, which pretty much is the idea with a booklight.
Seems like if you get a functioning light, this reading light is perfectly good. I've read through just about every review on every booklight on amazon. The problem seems to be that with just about all of them, there seems to be something like a 1 in 10 chance that you'll just get a dud. Total guess on actual numbers, but you get the idea. For every booklight, there's at least a few people that get one that doesn't work. I'm that guy with this one. So, one-star.

I don't remember where I got mine, probably not on Amazon, but this light is important in my collection because it brings the less common sliding pill type of zoomy into competition with the usual sliding head zoomies. The ring that one rotates to adjust the zoom is wide and finned to also provide cooling through the pill of the heat sensitive led.
Like the usual Sipik SK68 clones, it shines a variable size beam that is very bright for its simple AA cell power source.
The workmanship and finish on mine is excellent. The square knurling feels really good.

These 40 watt equivalent bulbs give off great light and even illumination! Unlike other LED bulbs I've tried, they dim smoothly do not hum when dimmed down.

This bulb is an excellent bulb! LED technology develops fast, but this little guy should be around for a while. I use them in my hallway light where I don't really need a super bright light, I need ot to go to my kid's room when I hear a noise, or to guide me to the bathroom without waking up the rest of the house. I wish I had more places to put this bulb.

Overall, they're quite good and I'm fairly impressed. These guys are equivalent to 15 Watt incandescent bulbs, so they are somewhat dimmer than the 25 Watt bulbs I replaced. (I will say it also only feels like ~80% dimmer, not 65%). I was pretty impressed with their dimming functionality--I've tried dimmable CFLs in the past and they just did not function properly. Also, the "directionality" aspect doesn't seem to be very noticeable in the fan where they were installed horizontally (I expected to notice some shading, but it's not very apparent). I have several more fans than LED bulbs, so two were installed in a fan where the other two were incandescent bulbs. Other than a slight difference in the color (or by staring directly at the light fixture) you can barely notice the difference when they are at full power. The color is still colder than the incandescents, but it's not quite as cold as the CFLs, which tend to really irritate my eyes (even the "warm light" CFLs).
I am downgrading this review slightly because of their dimming range isn't quite as good as I was hoping it would be (e.g. it is not comparable to an incandescent). Overall, the dimming is smooth and transitions nicely (unlike the dimmable CFLs). However, my complaint is that the low power is much brighter than the low power of the incandescent bulbs, and the high power is much dimmer than the incandescents. In our kids' room, we used to fully dim the 2 bulb incandescent fan all the way down, and use that as a nightlight. The LED replacements are far too bright to serve this function. And while this has forced us to invest in a good LED nightlight for the kids (which is probably cheaper than leaving the fan lights on all night), I hadn't thought to check the dim-range for the lumens output, but then again, I also haven't seen this mentioned anywhere yet.
The price is great (even including the shipping charges) as compared to other bulbs I have seen. At the same time, I'm really hoping technology catches up quickly because the initial investment is pretty big!
I would definitely buy these again if I had anywhere else to put them. I'm checking out higher output dimmable LEDs for the next round I buy.

I two ordered of these to go into fixtures I made for my "retro-futurist" kitchen. They fit into small, 6" shades that hang down over my kitchen sink. I have all the lighting circuits in the kitchen on electronic dimmers. I found that the standard c7 base candelabra bulbs would burn out very quickly after being put into use. They might last three or four months with maybe a thousand hours of use. These bulbs have easily passed the thousand hour mark and are still working perfectly. They have their own dimmer system in the base and seem to be able to properly interpret the dimming level you input from the dimmer wall switches. I replace all 6 bulbs in my dinning room light fixture. They do not produce enough light making the room too dark. I suppose this is my own fault as these is only the equivalent of 15 watt lamps and I had higher wattage lamps. Not as tall as I thought it would be. I guess I didn't read the height on it. Although it is a neat light for just some soft lighting in a room. Don't expect a lot of light from it. The concept of an LED flashlight that clasps, stands and swivels is great... but the implementation just needs refining.PROS:
LED is energy efficient. The clamplight will run longer on batteries than non-LED lights.
The head tilts and swivels (although there are limitations as described below).
CONS:
The movement of the head is limited to preset positions, and it's frustrating if you're trying to point the light to a certain spot since it will revert to the preset locations. It would be better if the positioning was continuous.
The feet are too small and it is easy for the light to tip over if it isn't on a smooth flat surface. It would be better if the feet were bigger and spread further apart, especially since the light is a little top-heavy.
It's awkward to replace the batteries. I dread having to replace the batteries. Sorry... just saying.
If it were cheaper, I could accept these shortcomings. With some improvements, it might be a handy device to have in your toolkit. Unfortunately, this is one of those purchases I am not making good use of due to all the shortcomings.

What a fantastic flashlight. I bought it for my boyfriend who is a gear head and loves to tinker around in the "Man Cave" (garage) all the time, and he loves it. He takes things apart and checks things out with this flashlight hanging from an existing power cable in the ceiling, or clipped to the edge of our UTV's fender, or clipped to the edge of a tool cart, its great. I purchased the Blackfire Clamplight LED flashlight after reading about it in Popular Science last fall. It was listed as a "must have" product and I totally agree. I can't imagine any person buying a normal, old boring flashlight after having experienced the Clamplight. It is so versatile in terms of it's uses. Having the clamp integrated into the handle which is extremely helpful. The brightness from this 65 lumen LED is essentially a super bright spotlight. Some people have said installing the battery is a pain, but it really isn't a big deal at all. It's just different from traditional flashlights. I purchased a bunch of the Clamplights. I have one in my car for emergencies, one in the garage, one on my nightstand and one in the kitchen. I find myself using it all the time.

I installed them 2 weeks ago. Worked well that night, on nights after cloudy days, and rainy days. Easy enough to install on a gutter, but did not fit too wellon a metal 4 inch gutterthe part that screws into the gutter is not long enough to grab over the edge when the little foam pad is used to protect the paint on the gutter. I had to install them without the pad. Also, the screw to tighten the hinge which determins the angle of the light was difficult to get tight enough (oddly, on just one lightthe other was fine) so it is not held firmly to shine the light out from the gutter to a place a few feet from the ground under the gutter. The light output is sufficient to see who is out there, or find the keyhole, but it is nowhere as powerful as an incandescent porch light (3 leds per unit). All in all, I am satisfied with it, and delivery was prompt.

The clip that is provided with this Gutter Light does not fit over a standard aluminum gutter. It is too small to work properly and the plastic pad to insert to avoid scratching the gutter is a joke. I had to drill holes farther down on the clip on order for the clip to work properly on my gutters. I have seen other Gutter Lights with different gutter clips that are far superior to this one. If your intention is to use this light on your gutters don't buy it, get the other ones with the better clip. We wanted to add some lights over our front and back doors. These solar lights fit the bill. They clamp on to the gutter, so you can position them where you want them. We put two over each door, which was good because the light they produce isn't very strong. Of course, how much sun each light is exposed to affects that, too. Buy NEBO Soleil Solar Powered Flashlight
I bought two of these, had the same experience with both. They were great for about a month, then the batteries would no longer hold a charge. Had to buy two new rechargeable batteries which I had to order online. Same problem with the new batteries. The flashlight worked briefly, then the batteries would no longer charge. I'm not going to put out any more money on a bad product. That would just be foolish. My suggestion, choose a different flashlight. If you're going to have to replace batteries, just get a good flashlight that will work reliably. Don't rely on this to work for very long. When you need it, you may find yourself stumbling around in the dark.
There's a small battery in the rear (like a big CMOS battery) and solar panel on the top.
When I received the light, I thought maybe the accessible battery is for when the internal/inaccessible battery is empty out of solar charge. So I left the light outside in direct sunlight for maybe 4 hours, brought it in, turned it on and nothing.
When I went back outside and kept the switch in the on position, I realize it works when in direct sunlight, but as soon as it's removed from the sunlight it turns off.
Is the battery supposed to be rechargeable? It's not recharging. Not sure what kind of scam this is, it really just makes no sense why would you put a solar panel on a light that contains a non-rechargeable battery?
Save your money for a real light, if you want to go green (if you believe in that sort of thing), buy a good light for $50 and some Eneloops.
BTW Cannot find this item on the Nebo website, probably discontinued as an epic FAIL.
It fits comfortably in your hand or pocket. I dropped mine and gashed it up, but it still works fine.
As a joke I tell people that it's a great flashlight but because it's solar powered, it can only be used during the day in sunlight.

I have owned this flashlight for several months. I leave it on a table near a window and it receives enough sunlight to always be charged. My hubby was always grabbing it so I finally bought him one too. It fits nicely in the hand and the lights are bright enough for any small job. At first I was so happy with it and I bought several more to gave to friends and family as gift. However, soon I found out this is a huge mistake. This thing is actually a fake solar powered flash light because it is actually running on battery instead of solar power. when the power of the battery runs out, it will stop working even if you put it directly under the sun. finally someone made an intermediate base led lamp, these are NOT 40 / 60 watt replacements, they are a lot less bright, but they work perfectly in china cabinets to light things up without being too bright and guzzling the power.Not enough light to read by even when you use two! So far so goodit's been recharging during the day and staying on at least while I've been awake (until midnight or so). One complaint is that one of the parts that went into the ground (forms an 'h' when intact) rusted off. I think the pole inserts even better but am concerned about further rusting in the future. I have what is becoming a family heirloom lamp that had wiring that did not meet current code. Because of the age, I was actually concered of a fire risk, so I was very happy to find this kit. It arrived very quickly and was in excellent condition. It only took a couple of minutes to pull the old wiring out (I pulled the new wires through the lamp using the old ones) and install the new setup. This was purchased so that I could turn an old Express Lane sign from a closed Target, eight feet of pvc, and a bunch of pvc connectors into a lamp. I am confident in my ability to do wiring, so this was not a big deal. The item comes with three sizes of fittings for the hole into which you insert the light bulb housing and this came in handy as I could choose the size of the pvc, this would go for the size of the drill holes as well for a piece of woodworking or pottery. To achieve both those things, I learned long ago that it is a wise idea to have a book light. It minimizes marital crankiness (i.e. "Can't you turn off the frackin' lamp? I'm trying to sleep!")
As a result I have become a connoisseur of book lights -anything for family peace! In the last decade, I must have tried at least five of these, and most have been relegated to the back of the book pile (behind the mind-broadening classics that you and I both know I'm never going to get to). Some are clunky; they work fine on a hardcover but are useless on a paperback (or vice versa). Some wear out batteries faster than a teenager can wear out my patience.
With that history, I grabbed this task light from my Amazon Vine selection despite sexier candidates. I'm happy to report that -so far at least -this is a winner.
As a book light, it does the job quite well. The LEDs make it very bright, with a stem tall enough for me to direct the light appropriately (by which I mean: out of my husband's eyes). It has two levels of brightness. I can find the on-off switch without cussing; that may be a first. I haven't worn out the 3 AAA batteries yet (they aren't included by the way), but the fact that it's LED gives me some confidence about their lifetime. The task light doesn't weigh much. The clip has enough spring in it to stay firmly attached to a book. All in all: Good job.
But what made me say, "Oh cool!" is that this really is a *task* light, and not just a clip-on reading light. It sits up by itself without being at all tippy. That means it's an excellent directional light for craft projects such as quilting or woodworking. My only concern is that we're going to start to fight over who gets to use this... and I'll need to buy a second task light. That won't be a hardship; this is surprisingly inexpensive.
Can you tell I like this light? I do. I've dumped so many reading lights that I'm grateful to find one that is really up to the, um, task.
It has three settings and a flexible metal neck so it can be directed just where the light is needed. It can clamp onto a book, a computer or even my hat so that if I'm working on unscrewing something in a dark corner this can lighten up the project.
I like it particularly because often when my wife and I go away there is only a reading light on one side of the bed. With this portable light, we can both read.
Another plus is that the light is close to the book so that it won't disturb my wife if she is sleeping beside me.
Sometimes I use my laptop and the overhead light is insufficient and now with this portable light, I can use my laptop more often.
A final advantage that I've found is that sometimes I am using my solar calculator and there isn't enought light. This portable light enables me to use the calculator in more places.
It uses three AAA batteries and is lightweight so excellent for taking on vacation.
The most excellent feature on this little light is the very high quality metal gooseneck. It will move absolutely any way that you want it to go with ZERO bounceback. In addition to moving effectively right and left and up and down, the head of the light twists equally well and stays put.
The light itself is pleasing with 3 LEDs, and covers the page nicely from mass market paperbacks on up to hard cover releases (I have used it now for both, as well as a trade paperback.) It is light enough to not bend or damage the book or be falling backwards. The non-skid pad inside the back of the clip keeps it from sliding around the book or falling sideways as so many of my lights with slip on clips do.
The only caveat that I would mention is that you have to want a light that takes standard batteries. This takes 3 AAAs, which I love as I can use rechargable batteries. They are easy to change and don't add to much weight, but does make for a larger housing than some people want in their booklights. I'll take that any day to having to dig up expensive and sometimes hard to find "watch" batteries. I have yet to need to change the batteries after three large books worth of reading thanks to the LEDs.
The light has a full and dim setting which my husband appreciates when I am reading in bed.
