Ok, so I'm a college student and I needed a lamp for a desk that was not well lit. I was also looking for full spectrum lamps which are my favorite since the light mirrors natural light. I first bought the Norm@nde Full spectrum lamp thinking it was such a great deal for such a low price. The Norm@nde lamp was crap, after reading the reviews left on the product I thought they might have just got the defected ones and I might not be so unlucky. but the product was merely crap, the crane was loose and broken at the bottom where the crane joins the base. The material felt cheap and like it would snap with little force. So I sent it back to amazon for a refund and bought this lamp instead. BEST choice I've made. the on/off switch is touch sensitive and VERY responsive. the base is VERy solid and stable. the crane reaches far and the joins near the lamp could be turned to. So basically anywhere you put the lamp you can choose to illuminate any specific area. The light is really bright so it doesn't cause any eye strains after reading for 6+ hrs. basically if your looking for a full spectrum lamp and you don't want to pay the overly exaggerated prices that some companies place on their products, this is it. it has everything and its rock solid.

The desk lamp does what it says. I use it daily @ work since I am stuck in a cubicle with no windows and florescent lights. The light is not harsh or distracting. I would buy it again and would tell my family and friends to purchase the lamp.

I bought two for my office, and BOTH of them don't work. They have a "touch" switch that worked the first one or two times out of the box, but then don't work at all (I tried different outlets and other stuff to see if there was a way to get them to work). Silly to overcomplicate a desk lamp a simple mechanical toggle switch would be much better and less prone to failure. Anyway, given that I bought 2, and they both have the same problem, I would steer clear of these lamps they probably got a very cheap lot from the manufacturer trying to dump a defective product.

I originally bought this lamp to do tapestry work. It was excellent for that. Then I became so happy with the quality of the light that I just used it whenever I needed to read. It lasted for over ten years (with only one bulb replacement needed) when the neck broke (probably a combination of over-twisting and aged plastic). I think this is a good long time given how often I manipulated the position and fiddled around readjusting the direction. The neck extends well over the base which is wonderful for any kind of close work. A good lamp.

As some other reviewers have noted this bulb puts out nice, natural light. It took some getting used to at first since it seemed a touch on the colder side of the temperature scale. The touch switch is very sensitive and was my favorite part of the unit.

The lamp itself is quite ugly; A black, slimmer body would have done worlds for its aesthetic presentation, but, it's only a lamp, and it sits behind my monitors so I wasn't looking at it anyway.

Something else which irked me a bit was the time it took to ship. It was the absolute last day before amazon automatically canceled the order (30 days to ship). I emailed GreenSolutions a few days before the due date for shipping and requested the order be canceled. They within a day that they had shipped the order. That pissed me off pretty good, but I thought, "f-it, I'll try it out". A week later I had it, for a total waiting period of 5 weeks from the time the order was placed. Usually I wouldn't include any comment about shipment, however, GreenSolutions were the handlers, so I feel it's appropriate in this case.

I set it up and have been using it ever since (about a month and a half) until today, when it died. I'm not talking just the bulb, here; I tried a new bulb and a new outlet and the thing's dead. I had run this lamp through my battery backup system which only carries about a 25-30% load, so there wasn't any sort of power spike or blackout that hit this lamp.

GreenSolutions' weak 7-day return policy ensures I will not be provided a replacement, nor will I be doing business with them again in the future. Going forward, I will be returning to a lighting setup of two desk clamp swing-arm lamps which accept regular ol' energy efficient bulbs.

Finally, It would seem that my experience was one of the few exceptions to the norm in terms of customer satisfaction, so I am not admonishing patronage of this company in any way. I do, however feel my two cents were worth chipping into the pot. Best of luck.

Review of LEDwholesalers 8-Inch Recess 16 Watt 156-LED Ceiling Light with LED

First off, I am an electrical contractor. I think these lights are great besides the fact that these cannot be dimmed!! I have also tried other 12vdc power supplies and they do not work with these particular type of LEDs that are inside. They are about 1/2" thick and most all ceiling drywall is 1/2"-5/8" thick so that means you can just cut the hole and go, regardless of where a truss or floor joist sits. And not having to lay out your can lights according to where the truss/joists are is a HUGE time saver.

They provide an evenly distributed light and these suckers are BRIGHT! I have used many of these as well as the 6" version (which is not as bright) but the 6" ones are bright as well. They have a 120 degree beam angle so you have a wide light coverage. If you are planning on installing these in a large room and need adequate brightness, I would suggest using the 8" ones instead of the 6" version. The outer bezel is silverish/gray color (similar to stainless steel) but I suspect they could be scratched up lightly with some fine grit sandpaper and painted the same color as the ceiling, but I ahve not tried that yet.

One bit of very helpful installation advice.....The power supply that comes with these have an output 12v connector that plugs directly in to a pigtail that comes out of the back of the LED light, and the 120v input on the power supply has a brown wire (HOT) and a blue wire (NEUTRAL) which is a European/Asian color configuration; different from the US black/white wiring colors for 120v but does the same thing (electricity is colorblind). You MUST install these in a junction box of some sort and use the appropriate cover for said box in order to be both SAFE and meet the guidlines of the National Electrical Code. You cannot splice your wires coming from your switch or your existing light on to the power supply input wires without being secured in a junction box. Otherwise you would have a couple wire nuts tying together loose wires just floating in your attic or ceiling space, which is not good.

I like these so much that I am recommending these to any customer of mine that wishes to install recessed lighting somewhere. I just wish that they were DIMMABLE and I would have given them all the stars I could. These lights are VERY easy to install and I probably made it sound more complicated than they really are as far as installation goes. These are about the easiest lights to install from scratch even if you are the average homeowner and not an electrician. I highly recommend these!!!

Just 16 watts and sooooooo bright. No glare. No heat. No mess. No fuss. This fixture is only about 3/4 of an inch thick.........amazing. My wife was able to install with no problems. Come on Amazon, bring this back to Amazon Prime. I need about 10 more to redo my entire kitchen/dinette areas.

If you are considering the move to LED lighting, this should definitely be one of your choices to replace those old high heat/low wattage incandescents. Great in my mud room, and perfect for kitchens and other large areas.

If you want to replace your incandescent can lights or replace another fixture and have a can light look, these will do the job. They are thin and light, and are easily installed in place of existing can light. Since they produce almost no heat, you don't have to worry about having an insulation shield. If you are replacing a standard ceiling light, you'll need a keyhole saw to enlarge the hole to 8 inches, but this is a simple job with sheet rock. The LED's are not quite as bright as a standard incandescent 70 watt floodlight but they are close, and the light is even, with less shadows. Compared to even CFL's in a can light fixture, these will pay for themselves in a year or less, depending on how often the light is used. The light is cooler than an incandescent but it's not the bluish bright light of most LED's. Good buy at the price when you consider ease of installation and electricity savings.

EDIT: I have now installed about 8 of these. In a standard 8 foot ceiling, these are just about as bright as a two tube 48" fluorescent fixture. I have some 14 foot ceilings in my home, built in 1920, and they are not as bright being up high but are still acceptable as room lighting, just not for task lighting. Before you begin installing, check to see if you have standard wall board or plasterboard. Plaster board is like wall board (drywall) but the inner layer is plaster. You'll need a special blade for a keyhole saw or a jigsaw if that's what you'll use to cut the hole. All lights are still working perfectly and are really nice replacements if you need lots of light abd don't want to worry about fixutres getting hot and causing propblems in the ceiling.

Really a nice yellow color from these I'm doing a new installation and these will work great. Be advised these are designed to go into the ceiling with spring loaded mounting clips and can not be removed without damaging the ceiling.

I ordered 2 of these for my boy's bedroom ceiling. I was looking for something versatile (can be moved), and that was soothing for his sensory processing needs. It arrived very quickly, well packaged and new in the box, with instructions; however, I was a little disappointed in a few things: 1. It is battery operated (2 AA) 2. It isn't as full looking as the pics. They do, in fact, remind me of some sort of star wars planet as the plastic strand inserts do NOT fan out like the pics show. 3. I imagined them a little bigger. They definitely expand the perimeter of my opened palm, but I was thinking bigger.

Of course, I am sure it says they are battery operated in the description and it does say the dimensions as well, so it is my bad. Would I purchase them again? YES, if the price was a little lower. They are beautiful and my son loves them. They are a straight light, no flashes or color, but it is mesmerizing when the lights are off. All in all I am satisfied as they meet my specific needs, but I think others may be disappointed without knowing the cons.

This product is amazing.

Highly durable and very strong.

Looks well put together.

Plus the tip is ridged. You could beat someone up with it, or use it to break glass in an emergency.

The light is very bright. If you shine this light into your own or someones eyes, they will see nothing but the light. After you stop shining it in the eyes, the person will feel disoriented, not see clearly, and have a very hard time reading for a few minutes.

The stun gun is Powerful. My friend has a stun gun that is 400,000 volts. We tested it on each other. It was enough to contract all the muscles in one arm(we tested it on the arm) I tested this one on myself(again on the arm)

The upper part of my body had contractions and especially both arms became useless.

Its like having 3 different "Ima Screw you up" weapons in one.

There are three settings for the switch as far as i can tell.

1. Off (both the light and stun gun are off)

2. Light (The light is on. the stun gun is off, and can not be turned on with the stun button)

3. Stun(The stun gun is unlocked and able to be used in this setting. you simply push the button on the opposite side of the device from the switch.)

You can not turn on the stun gun and flash light at the same time. Which I dont see that as that bad of a downside.

The only thing that i saw off with it was on the inside of the flashlight ending near the glass i saw a few scratch marks, but it was nothing big, just something i noticed aesthetically.

If you think youd like one, BUY IT. It is worth it

I bought the first one for my wife, who sometimes has to leave the office at night and walk 1-2 blocks in a high crime area. While, I wish that she would leave during daylight hours or carry a gun, she is not comfortable with that, nor do we want to deal with the aftermath of lethally shooting someone.

I spent some time training her and she is now ready to use it. Here's what she does:

1. Puts the lanyard on her wrist. This is important so she doesn't accidentally drop the light or have it knocked away.

2. Uses the flashlight to illuminate her path. It is very powerful light, with a good wide throw and helps her to see her surroundings well. What is an added plus is that if she is approached, by an attacker, she can direct it to shine in their face which will temporarily blind/disorient them...and what happens when someone shines a bright light in your face? You put up your hands to sheild your eyes. In terms of an attacker, he is now giving you a target to use the business end of the stun gun.

3. I showed her how to switch it on so she understands how loud and powerful it is. I also instructed her not to jab, but to hold and press the stun gun end against the assailant for 2-3 seconds. A short jab will only deliver a short burst, but if you hold it on them for 2-3 seconds, the full current will be deployed, disabling their muscle control and they will fall to the ground. This will incapacitate the attacker for a few minutes...enough time for her to run away.

We practiced this (without the battery in it) until she was comfortable and quick. I hope she doesn't have to use it, but at least now knowing she is ready to protect herself, I can rest easier.

PROS:

lanyard: use to prevent accidental dropping or getting knocked away from you.

body: a sturdy, well made casing. Strong enough for smashing glass...or noses

light: very bright, useful for lighting up a clear wide view as well as momentarily blinding an attacker

controls: easy to use, logical in layout

CONS

I do worry about accidentally going off in her purse. Wish the switch had a better safety configuration.

NOTE: I recommend rehearsing several times on how to use it. If you or your loved one is under attack, adrenaline will be high, thinking time will be short and there will be small room for error ...so I highly recommend practicing.

As a side note, my daughter, who is a college student in a big city saw it, and asked me to get her one too as she walks through some bad sections of town between her apartment and the university buildings. I'm placing my second order now.

It definetely makes and impressive loud noise when activated & I am glad my girlfriend has not had to use it at all.

I think it should be clearly stated that five inches of the over-all body is metal & the rear one inch (the charging female part of it) is plastic. This particular design makes the rear part of it breakable big-time. The attachment of the rear plastic section of it does not feel very solid.

I used this product for about three weeks before letting my girl try it out. Unfortunately I was not able to give her the lanyard since it broke about the fourth day of using it(cheap material for show only) so make sure you get a good heavy duty lanyard if you plan to buy this product.

The holder has a open design which does not help keep this product in place. My girl complained that when she looks for it in her hand bag she will often find the flashlight out of the holder. So you will have to get a better holder cover for it..that is for sure, so keep that it mind.

Manual is not as descriptive, lacks specifications & states facts that are not true at all. For example, you are supposed to charge your product for a few hours until you see a green light turn-on. Well, that never happen after a seven hour charge. I used common sense since electronics of that size should not take more than six hours, but I left it for seven just in case.

Still i think that should be described in the manual or at least, something like " use common sense while charging" or actually making it happen so that you can know that it is fully charged. Power cord is really short too..so same thing there boys.

If by any chance you accidentaly have the switch on-stun mode(which happens often with that cheap holder) the tip of it will give you a WAKE-UP-shock very minimal but will wake-up you up for sure or freak you-out if you are a drama queen.

Manufacturer, if you by any chance are reading your product's reviews. I would suggest to improve the overall body, make it 100 percent metal. Also, maybe adding a warning feature that lets you know that the current charge is not the most addecuate for usage. A better holder & lanyard would help too so that there is not additional investment. A better manual.. Oh & I do not care if it has a cheap chocolate box packaging...just make sure I do not have to use a black Sharpe to fix aesthetic defects.

Overall, I am 50/50 about buying another one..I was going to buy one today, but for all the reasons I just described..I am going to keep doing my research & reading reviews for alternatives...So keep that in mind because it is something to thing about...

The real Guard Dog Diablo flashlight stun gun is 4.5 million volts and is made of aluminum, not plastic. The product that is the genuine article is well made and durable. I was especially pleased at how bright the 160 lumen light is and feel that the price for the light alone is worth the price. Although there is no safety switch for the button that fires the stun gun, you have to push the light switch to the third position before pushing the button to discharge the stun gun. Beware of buying the $26 knockoff which is not the Diablo, but a cheaply made in China imitation. I was initally hesitant about buying the Guard Dog because of some of the negative comments; however, after analyzing some of the statements, I began to realize that the negative statements were made by people who had purchased the cheaply made knockoff. C'mon, be real... you are not going to be able to purchase a $100+ device for $26! Order the real one for $54. I am so pleased with my purchase that I just ordered a second one.

Light is super bright! Stun seems great but have not stunned anyone yet to know for sure. Had a few very small scratches on arrival but fixed pretty easily with a sharpie pen. Found out from customer service that batteries are supposedly Lithium Ion. Strangely though... can not confirm Lithium Ion batteries from any packaging. Designed very sturdily out of mostly metal (of some kind).

Things that stink...

1. The documentation and info on box is extremely lame.

2. No way to know when gun needs to be recharged or is fully charged. They simply say "charge between 4-8 hours but no more than 16" and to "charge frequently". I think that this sounds logical if it does use Lithium Ion. Only a red LED that is constantly lit while charging. I remember reading somewhere that the led is supposed to turn to green when done charging. In my experience, it never turns green. as a result... I find myself wondering after a few days (or any flashlight use) "is the stun gun still adequately charged if I needed to use it?" That being said... it probably is.

3. Holster is super crumby & literally lasted (for me) 5 minutes... Until I ran into a door knob and obliterated the holster immediately. The good news is that I found an aftermarket, leather holster that fits it (flashlight facing down) perfectly. I found it cheaper at the military supply but if you prefer... here is the Amazon item name for the Holster... Bianchi Accumold Elite 7908 Open Top Oc And Light Pouch (Basketweave Black) (cost is roughly $25.)

4. Charging cord is extremely short (as other reviewers have noted).

Have not figured out (or really, really tried to) how to open the device. My impression is that opening it is very difficult. This might be a good thing as you probably could stun yourself accidentally if you did open it.

Amazon is cheapest I could find on the web and occasionally sells these for less than $50. incl. S&H. I think it is a very good value at this price.

All that being said... I am generally very, very, happy with the flashlight / Stun Gun itself and think it is the best currently available of this kind/style. All my friends are impressed with it also (some have other models similar to this one but they R plastic).

This was an excellant energy efficient replacement for my old mercury vapor light that died. I am extremely pleased with the area coverage of the light, it is very similar to the old light, and far wider than the specs show on the mfg website. Also pleased with the brightness, it is more than adequate for my needs and is as bright as the old MV light which was may years old. I would definity recommend this. Fast shipping, the originial delivery noted 1 month, but the light arrived in one week.

NOTE: If you are mounting it on your existing extention arm, there are no instructions or bracket for that. I had to modifiy the bracket from the old light to secure the new light to the extention arm. Minor thing, but note worthly if you are replacing it yourself.

I ordered these lights about a month ago. They haven't even been up for 3 weeks and already they don't work. The lights were 3 different colors, red,green and blue. They would change colors intermittently through out the time they were on. Very pretty. About a week ago the blue and green lights quit working. Now there is just red flashing intermittently. All the bulbs work, just not the different colors. Really makes me mad. They are kind of expensive to not work a month after you get them. Very disappointed! I wrote to smart solar to ask what the problem was and could they help me and they didn't answer. I wouldn't recommend this product to anyone.

We bought 4 sets, put them up, and let the batteries charge for 4-5 days, well beyond the 2 days recommended in the instructions. They worked for a few days and then within a week 2 of them don't work at all. The other two sets only glow red, and that's just a few not all of the lights. We called Smart Solar (the company that makes them) and the rep (Agnes) was curt and unhelpful, suggesting only that we try replacing the batteries with regular ones as the batteries that came with the sets may have been dead from sitting around in the warehouse. These are solar-charged batteries, and once charged, should not matter whether the light sets were in a warehouse for a while or not. Further, upon replacing the batteries, the battery terminal was rusty. The lights still do not work even after putting in charged regular batteries. We could see if maybe we got one set of bad lights but this was all four of them (two dragonfly, two butterfly). What a waste of $120.

Update: They lasted a while but ultimately died on us. They were beautiful while they lasted, but we decided to go with Solar Crackle Glass Ball Lights, a Pack of 3 pcs in a set. which have lasted for a LONG time and are very bright.

I LOVE these lights. They each glow a different color and for several hours they cycle through several colors (red, blue, violet, green). I love the way they look on my treeI sit in my art studio at night and am mesmerized by how beautiful they are.

When I first got them, they worked for a while and then began to fade, either quickly dimming after the sun set or changing color less frequently. I soon realized that it was important for me to relocate the sensor every so often, as the light changed as as the foliage around the sensor grew. It's important for the sensor to get as MUCH light as possibleDIRECT sunlight at least a few hours a day. If it is blocked by a leaf or a shadow, the lights will not work as they are supposed to. So every week or so, make sure the sensor is in a good spot and shift as necessary. I just do it as I pass by the front of my house every day on the way to my car.

I'm getting several more strands to wrap around spots in the backyard.

These lights are really VERY lovelyno weird LED-blinking or "vibrating" like some LED lights have and the colors are beautiful. I highly recommend these.

I received these solar lights and was thrilled when I first saw them light up in my garden. But they only worked for 4 weeks and then they would no longer light. The solar panel receives 8 hours of full sun every day. I was very dissapointed to find that the product only worked for a month and after contacting the supplier I received no response to rectify the situation. I would like to warn everyone not to purchase this product. It does not work properly and is a waste of money.

I have shopped on Amazon for years and this is the first item I ever felt compelled to review after receiving. This is a beautiful sconce. It is high quality and matched my existing light covers in my home. With 6AA batteries it puts out enough light to light up my entire hallway. It stays on for 4 hours and then turns itself back on the exact same time the next day. I purchased two of the bell shaped wall sconces for my living room. Having just remodeled my home, I was looking for a cleaner, less cluttered look and wanted to replace tall floor lamps that were taking up too much space. The room has overhead recessed lighting as well but it has never been enough to adequately light the room. While these sconces would not make a great primary source of light in a room, they are perfect in the evening when you want to light a room but not have it too bright. A beautiful, clutter free light source--and easy to install yourself. I am looking for smaller ones to use to add light to a family picture collection in a hallway.

It's a batty operated light. It looks great. Serves it's purpose. Not too bright if you are looking for someone to light up a room. I used it in our basement staircase and it has enough lumens to cut the dark when walking down the stairs.

I used these as general purpose lighting in one room and they are really great, everything I wanted. Power efficient, they put off a nice clean, bright light and are dimmable. The cans for these lights are very compact, even the IC rated cans, because they put out so little heat, which for me made it great to be able to get these into a 2x8 joist space with 2" of insulation (rigid) above them still. Awesome!

I agree with the other reviewer...good cheap light, doesn't put out a lot of light but even if you use more of them, you'll still probably use less energy.

Light sensor seems good.

Lights are a cool blue so if you're looking for something warm, keep looking.

Doesn't put off a whole lot of light by itself. It's a single LED attached to some sort of plastic that diffuses it throughout the room. It doesn't put off much light, but at two bucks a piece, and hardly any electricity, these are great!

These look like miniature flourescent lights very white and sufficently bright. Other LED night lights light up only the immediate few feet of space, but these ones light up enough to navigate a small to medium room. The do turn on even in medium light, so you can plan for them to be on pretty much most of the day. But LEDs have long life and low current draw, so it shouldn't be putting a dent on the electric bill.

I use this great night light to light up from behind a translucent litter box for my cats. It is night a bright night light, so if you want something to light up a room, try something brighter. For the purpose intended, though, I'll stick with this one. The light is a soft blue color.

I picked up a pack of these because my 7 yr old son wanted a nightlight in his room, and our drapes and blinds do such a good job of keeping out outside light that it's pitch-black at night. I don't demand much of a nightlight: It has to put out enough light so that I don't trip over cats, toys, or my own feet. These lights definitely do the job. I just ordered 2 more sets, so I can have at least one light in each room of my house, for the odd late-at-night wander-through. I recommend it if you just want a simple nightlight.

I ordered this for over my kitchen sink and it looks great! It was supposed to be in a dark bronze finish, but it came in a satin nickel finish which matches my kitchen cabinet pulls and the outlet and light switch covers. I had seen in another review that this mix up had happened to them and I was hoping that I would receive the satin nickel too!
