Just like the military, I use this light at night time to keep my eyes adjusted to the dark. We have a 7 week old infant and I use the redlight in the bedroom so he can sleep undisturbed. We used to wonder why he had such a hard time falling asleep, it was because even the light from a nightlight will stimulate him. With all the lights off, we use this red light so we're able to see everything while he's able to sleep peacefully. The two most critical items that allow our infant to fall asleep and stay asleep are this red light and a heating pad (we turn it off immediately after we set him down, never keep an infant on an active heating pad).

The description says "count 12" but you get only one light bulb (probably obvious from the price...) More importantly, this bulb will not work with electronic dimmers. It stays on dimly even when off, and flickers when on. The light is produced by a number of low-efficiency LEDs and it's not very bright.

I really like this little solar light bulb. For the price its totally worth 5 stars. I wasn't expecting it to be very bright since its being marketed as a tent light but it is pretty bright. The high and low settings are helpful too. I got 4 of them for an emergency preparedness type scenario but we actually use one every night. I set it in the sun in the day time then when my kids are ready to go to bed I hang in on their wall and leave it on at night as a nightlight. Their room is pretty big (9 x 17) so on the lowest setting its not too bright. In a smaller room like a bathroom on the lower setting it seems much brighter (of course). By morning it still hasn't even run out of battery, it just turns off by it self because of the sunlight. If I put it in a darker place it turns right back on. I like that battery-saving feature. On the higher setting its bright enough to find your way around the big room or read by if your close enough to it.

Their are only few thinks I would say i didn't like them. It is brighter on setting 1 and dimmer on setting 2 (lol). The solar panel on the one I am using is loose and needs glued in a bit better. The instructions say not to charge in shade (so does that mean cloudy weather too?). And lastly crazycart as a seller sucks. They should ship their things in boxes. They have a bad rep. for their stuff breaking in transit and yet the still just throw everything in a plastic envelope. If thinks get broken (like they did on a different shipment I got from them) they are hard to return. They make you pay to return it. If it comes unbroken then thinks are good.

I think if they put that these would be useful for home lighting, camping, cooking, working, reading, emergency, blackouts like it says on the box and not call it a tent light they would sell alot more of them.

I took this camping and it was good for not super bright light in the tent. You need to make sure to not go longer than two days without charging it though so I would recommend putting it out in the sun everyday/every other day so it's fully charged at night.

I got this lamp because I have some detail painting that I needed to do. The thing was that I didn't really want to spend $60.00-$80.00 dollars for something I'm not going to use very often. Even though this lamp didn't have any reviews on it I decided to take a chance and boy am I glad I did! I received the lamp yesterday and man am I happy I didn't go out and spend all that money on another lamp! This lamp is fantastic! You know that saying, "Good things come in small packages?" Well, they were talking about this lamp when they wrote it. The top of the lamp lifts up-that's where the magnifier is-the light is a florescent bulb, but don't hold that against it. It is bright, but it doesn't hurt your eyes; as for the magnifier it's very powerful. Great for any detail work that needs doing from sewing to removing splinters! Get this lamp while the price is low! Wow! 5 Stars for the little lamp that could!

This is truely a 10 dollar lamp. The lens is plastic and the lens diamater is so small that you have to close one eye to look through it properly without seeing a double, out of focus image. Spend the extra money to but a real magnifying lamp with a glass lens and a larger diameter ring.

Even though I paid attention to the dimensions and looked at my tape measure, when this light arrived I found the diameter to be too small for my purpose. The magnification is great, the quality of light and size of the base is great. I love the adjustability of the light head and overall the quality is good. The cover is great for keeping dust away but the lens is smaller than I anticipated and I found it hard to focus except in the very center. As you move your head/eyes or hands beneath, it is easy to lose focus on the object. I will keep this on my desk for reading those small fonts on bills, etc. but it will not be my craft light....the lens circle is too small.

6-23-12. I have so many undercabinet lights (12 in all). It seems that if one light goes out, they all tend to go at after that. I was buying them from the big box stores at about 6-8 dollars a piece. I am so glad that I found this company about 6 mths ago.

I admit, I was worried about buying bulbs online and having them shipped. This company did a wonderful job with the packaging and the quick shipping. It has been that way the last 3 times I have ordered from them. I hope to finally get rid of all the box store lights that I bought before....b/c honest....they are an ugly, harsh light. I bought two different types of solar crosses for use as a cemetery marker. I was disappointed in the moisture that got into this one which was the more expense one by a few dollars compared to the other one I also purchased through Amazon. ...I put it on my picnic table where not only does it look good, but it does get alot of use. Prayer is part of this household, so when you eat out there, there is still a pray before the meal. An the people that go by, well i hope it just might put a spark in there heart for our "Heavenly Lord Father in Heaven" !

...Now for one of the bad points. It lights all night, it is very good that way. But the light is not all that bright. So what i did was put small solar coach lamps on both sides of it. They highlight the cross and it can be seen alot better.

I bought two of these to go next to the bed. The light is really nice, strong and natural feeling, so really helpful if you have to study or work at night. I believe I paid $40 something for each, which is ok. One big con for me is the button, it can be very difficult to push in and turn on which is kind of annoying. They should have made the button stick out a bit, or have put the button on the electrical cord or something. One other thing, the power cord is black, which I think is thoughtless on a design like this (I purchased the pearl colour). They should have given it a white power cord for aesthetic purposes!

The concept of the lamp is great, it looks very modern, and bulb burns very bright. However, the on/off switch is poorly made. It broke after 2 presses. A quick dis-assembly revealed that the switch is made of cheap brittle plastic. I would not recommend this product. Thankfully, Amazon has a great return policy.

I really like the shape/size of this lamp. On my desk or on a night stand it doesn't appear bulky. When I'm reading I can bend the tulip bulb (the white part at the top) after extending it out it has a goose neck that's hidden.

The light cast has a very clean feel to my eyes. Not that yellowish look, but more like natural daylight which OttLite is known for.

Two things I would like to see different about this lamp:

1 The power button should have a rounder or circle shape versus being oval, which makes it a bit uncomfortable to turn on/off.

2 Elimination of any buzzing noise when the light is turned on. I can't tell if it's the light bulb or transformer. Kinda distracting when reading a book and you sit really close to it.

Overall I am really enjoying the lamp.

This is a very functional light no doubt. It gives excellent lighting and the flexible neck positions are a definite bonus.

However, prior to buying my first Tulip Lamp I read the reviews at Amazon & Ottlite and saw the frequent reference to the on/off switch design and hesitated to purchase on that basis.

I have other Ottlites folding desk lamp, floor lamps and that gave me confidence to buy my first Tulip light from Amazon a couple of weeks ago. Love the light, definitely superior. The switch is awkward and requires an unusual grip and pressure, but I thought okay.

I purchased a couple for my parents some 1,000 distant and again for me. My parents like the light and can deal with the switch.

Today I received my blue one directly from Ottlite, the others I ordered via Amazon, and the switch (which is flush to the base and you must press in to turn on) was collaspsed in with no spring motion to come out. It wasn't stuck, rather it was defective similar to what other reviewers had warned about.

I quickly called Ottlite to advise of the problem and I had to take pictures to send by email and they will get back to me. We'll see, probably fine but disappointing they have not acted to correct a widely known flaw. Also disappointed their Quality Control is so poor that they don't check product prior to shipping.

Net/net I think it is a VERY cool design with superior quality light IF IT CONTINUES TO WORK. Time will tell so the jury is out on this one.

I installed two of these bulbs in an outdoor motion-sensing fixture and set the timer to about 5 minutes of on-time. So actual time illuminated was almost nothing. One of these bulbs burned out after two months. Probably not more than 30 minutes of on-time, not the 2,000 hours promised. Bulbs from another manufacturer, Philips, installed in a similar outdoor motion-sensing fixture have continued to work after many years.

I have also had the few other GE bulbs I have installed burn out prematurely as well. Those likewise had limited use and burned out prematurely, usually before six months. I will not buy any more GE brand light bulbs. The problem with them seems to be endemic.

The great thing about GE is that they stand behind their promise-if you are dissatisfied with the performance of the bulb, you can call them up and they will make you whole. Considering the fact that this is a commodity product, I would prefer the service of GE as a backup to ensure that I am getting what I bought.

I love my 4 year old little girl and I love this little thing for helping her not feel so scared in her room at night. It's like she has some of her favorite friendly faces up on the ceiling. The light is soft and not too bright, but just enough to take the edge off and help her sleep more peacefully. She still ends up coming over in the middle of the night to wake up her dad and asked to be tucked back in, but at least she's not mortified on the trip over. I'm glad I found this light.

I have a few of these and they are actually pretty good lights. Solid, heavy duty aluminum case. However, being a mass produced China product, I had one arrive DOA but got it replaced. They are really bright with just an AA but for grins, I put in one of the 14500 batteries. I think the thing would have burned the paint off my neighbor's house but the casing got so hot, I had to turned it off.

I have had mine for a couple of years and they seem reliable enough. At the time, getting something this bright for under $20 was un-heard of. I see several other lights that are much cheaper and claim to be brighter but haven't compared them yet.

Anyway, the S10 has been a good light for me

This is a quality light. The first thing you notice is the heat sink Nicely machined, with heft. No skimping on material. As a previous reviewer noted, the light is one sided like a paddle in shape. It is meant for light fixtures such as reading lights. It does not really replace a CFL in that regard. The weight might cause problems in some applications. The LEDs are very efficient considering the light output for only 10 watts. With all these factors in mind, including the low price and 30,000 hour rated lifetime you will be very happy with this light.

I purchased a two pack of these. Although packing included plastic bag inside of shipping tube inside of a box inside of another box, there was a dent in the aluminum housing on one bulb and numerous scratches. The bulbs were instant start. Although advertised as cool white, they were labled 5000K and looked quite a bit warmer that some 2044wh bulbs purchased from LED Wholesalers which were advertised as white and were unlabelled as to color. I purchased both to see which I preferred, the item being reviewed was less harsh than the 2044W. So beware that the advertised colors are not standardized. I did not return the dented one yet as the item is out of stock and I really do like its color, bright but not too harsh. Try a few bulbs before making a large purchase. All in all, trying to figure out the color on Amazon and the vendor's websites is difficult and confusing.

My old Fluorescent tubes had started to flicker, though it could have been the ballast. I decided to replace them with LEDs and ended up choosing these based on various reviews. I'm very happy with the increased brightness, the new-found silence and the instant-full-on behavior. The power savings is a bonus, though I'm not sure it'll ever pay back unless it was the ballast that needed replacing. Some of the existing wires in my fixture where too short, so I had to patch in an extra section of wire.

You saw the price already... I think they are worth it. It takes about 5 min to bypass the ballast in the light fixture. YouTube "how to remove fluorescent ballast" and you can watch a video. The instructions that come with the lights are good enough to figure it out, but pictures are nice to. My light setup is negative on one side and positive on the other, the lights work fine. I am not sure about longevity yet because I just installed them. The only thing besides the price that I don't really like is that the lights here are cooler than what was installed. More blue, but I'm sure I will get used to it.

The lights arrived on time and were properly packed. Two problems. Only half one of the two lights came on, that is, only 24" out of the 48" lit up. The other light worked fine (so far). The other problem is that these seem to be about 1/4" shorter than a standard T8 lamp. This makes it very difficult to install in a standard fixture and I had to modify the fixture so it would fit and not fall out. One other reviewer said that his was 1/8" too long. If this is the case, then they have a major problem with quality control. I will have to find out how the seller will replace the defective lamp. Since it was "fulfilled" by Amazon, I guess that I have to deal with the seller directly.

Bright. BRIGHT!!! I replaced a dual-tube setup (40 watts each) and this lights up the room several times brighter. Pretty easy to install, too. Hint: if your fixture has separate ballast wires dedicated to every single pin on your existing fixture sockets, you don't need them: just one wire going to each end will suffice, because the LED driver built into these tubes are connected to both pins. Mine had waayyyy too many wires to connect everything with a wire nut, and then I discovered that most of them are completely superfluous with this LED tube so I just cut off the extras and terminated them with their own wire nuts.

Downside: not dimmable (I tried). In my computer room, having two of these puppies is like being in direct sunlight, probably not the best choice; I may wind up flipping them over (unlike omnidirectional fluorescent tubes, these have distinct "up" and "down" sides, which probably contribute to how vright they are). For a workshop, garage, etc., they are unbeatable. And completely silent, and instant full-on, and low-energy.

After attempting to use these it sure feels like a stick up!

Do not waste your money on this cheap garbage! How anyone can give this anything higher than one star is utterly shocking!

I purchased 2 of these junk bulbs because the wiring in the ceiling of my closest went haywire.

The issues;

1)It doesn't work as advertised! The light is EXTREMELY dim, it doesn't light anything up like it does in the commercials or ads. It's like a very very dim and tiny blacklight. Those keychain lights produce better light! It is nowhere near the light produced by a real light bulb. You honestly can't see anything with it, you would have to buy 50 of them to light up a small closet and actually see anything! If you can't see anything with such an incredibly dim light, what is the point? That should be enough right there but here are a few more issues;

2) The adhesive on the stick bulb fails within seconds to minutes, mine kept falling right out of the box! Neither bulb I purchased lasted longer than a few minutes sticking to the wall. Whats the point if they land on the floor?

3) It eats batteries within a few uses. I would estimate less than 20 mins of use in total.

All in all this is a horrible product, a complete waste of money, does not do anything it is advertised.
