The lights arrived ahead of schedule. They work! What more can one ask? I have placed them in storage for next Christmas.Kind of pricey, but worked well and shipped within the week. Used for outside and it was good. Worked well

My wife and I first bought this lamp for her to use near her computer in order to reduce eye strain. The lamp was so bright and flexible, that we decided to get another one for my office. We love these lamps. We also love the fact that they are long lasting and huge energy savers. According to the manufacturer, these lamps are supposed to cost about $.08 cents a year to operate using them for 4 hours a day! You will not be disappointed with this lamp!
Please take note, this is an initial reaction only, and cannot yet reflect the long term favorability of this item. Still, I have reason to make this post. The quality of light from this lamp is good... it's not too narrow a beam, it is quite bright, colors look good. The rest of the item, however, comes packed in an aura of 'cheap.' Perhaps for the price, that is appropriate BUT still... the frame is wobbly and insecure; the reflective plastic under-cap around the LED itself was, on both lamps, poorly attached (two out of four screws on BOTH were screwed into place at an angle, leaving the screws hanging partially out.) That indicates to me improperly maintained factory equipment (if two out of two randomly selected lamps have the same problem.)
Beyond that, there is the matter that this design, while suggesting a long life (of the LED itself, that is) is essentially disposable... which detracts somewhat from the whole point of being efficient. The LED is irreplaceable, and while the packaging suggests tens of thousands of hours of LED light, the frame just doesn't feel as though it will last more than a modest fraction of that time... and the whole thing has a short 3 year 'limited' warrantee.
After my initial experience destroying a walmart-bought floor lamp with a CFL, I was hoping to find a simple (if not ugly) lamp into which I could just screw an even less watt-heavy LED bulb and not have it implode on me. I've yet to find that, so this lamp will have to do for now. Still, the make of this is dubious to me... though I suppose, with care, it might last as long as the LED that you cannot replace within it.
I got it for my dorm room in college and it works very well.
Looks nice, but you can't replace the led and it apparently only lasts about 10-11 months then starts strobing instead of steady light. I bought 2 of them and they're both junk now.

I've been on the lookout for an LED-ready alternative ever since I bought a floor lamp that suicided 20 seconds after having a CFL screwed into it. That's made me nervous about purchasing anything in my mission to be efficient and cost effective. I have been looking for a LED lamp for awhile now and came upon this one by Sunter Lighting. I bought a lamp made by them a few years back and loved it so I already know they make good lamps. I picked this 6W LED version for my 6 year old son's night stand. He uses the lamp for reading his books at bed time. It moves in many positions so he can position it the way he likes. Overall I am very happy and i think it is a great value and hopefully last for a long time. I am thinking about buying another one for my work bench when I am working on computers.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Natural Daylight LED Desk Lamp - Energy Saving Solution

I purchased this for an understair closet with a bare socket light and a switch that was hard to reach. The socket is hung horizontally from the wall, not the ceiling. When I first put it in, it didn't work at all either didn't come on or didn't go off. It took some doing but I was able to get it to work by using blue painters tape around about 2/3 of the clear portion (so only a portion facing the entrance door is clear). It doesn't look the best, but I have to admit it's been a life saver. But be forewarned, it's not bullet proof. I suspect the problem in our case was the very tight quarters that because the light hung horizontally, the sensor did not have enough clear space 360 degrees around it. However, when I masked all but the front facing portion of the sensor, it started to work and has worked well since then.
See it in action in video and note the tape.
Another reviewer mentioned that the range is insufficient. I've found that while the units do respond to a 360 degree circle, they do not respond equally in all directions. The unit responds excellently in two opposite directions and poorly in between. The manufacturer must know this because the center terminal is spring loaded and makes electrical contact about a half turn before the sensor screws tight into the socket. Thus, you can unscrew the unit by about a half turn and still have it work. I've taken a few days and slowly unscrewed the sensor from the ceiling socket a few degrees at a time until the most sensitive direction faces my single point of entry. Works much better that way. Doing similarly might help some folks.
November 2012 addition --Newer units from this manufacturer make finding the sweet spot easier as they now mold in a small bar (or mark) on the sensor which matches the direction of best sensitivity. My old units are not marked and trial and error is used.
This sensor will only work with ceiling mounted bulbs (according to the instructions, only with incandescent bulbs between 25 & 100W, but see below). It will not work with wall-mounted lights, even if it's a bare bulb, unless you manage to set the sensor in a vertical position (as if it were hanging from the ceiling) AND manage to keep the sensor at least 12 inches from the wall. The problem is that once the light is on, the heat reflected from wall will keep the sensor always on and will not turn the light off after you leave the room. Also, according to the instructions, the sensor will not work if it's inside any kind of enclosure, even if it's glass or clear plastic, it will only work with bare bulbs.
The instructions state that the sensor will NOT work with fluorescent bulbs, but I tried it anyway with a 23 W bulb (100 W incandescent equivalent) and it works, except that it takes a while for the bulb to warm up and for the light to reach its maximum intensity; after that it's fine. The delay is an issue of the fluorescent bulb, not the sensor. I noticed that another reviewer tried a fluorescent bulb and it flickered, but I had no problems except the delay time. It is possible that the other reviewer used a 15 W fluorescent bulb (the 23W bulb I used is close to the minimum 25W recommended). Or, maybe it only works with certain brands of fluorescent bulbs, (my bulb didn't have the brand printed on it, but it's a regular compact spiral one).
The sensor does not have a photocell, so it will always turn the light on once it detects movement. Therefore, it is best for places with low light or no windows where, if you are in the room, you will always need the light on, regardless of whether it's day or night.
See it in action in video and note the tape.

I've had three of these for about 10 years. Two are still working after all this time and the third one failed when the bulb burned out and caused a momentary short circuit. The sensor failed a fraction of a second after the bulb. Shame but stuff sometimes happens. Replaced the failed unit with a spare and all is still well.Another reviewer mentioned that the range is insufficient. This is an amazing product. I love it! If they were less expensive, I'd buy five or six. I have one in my basement, where the bulbs are old-fashioned screw-in-to-turn-on types (not pull chains). Yes, I could rewire the basement, but in the meantime, this is the perfect choice. Like many motion-sensing devices, this socket doesn't work with a flourescent bulb; package instructions say to use it only with incandescent bulb. It also can't be used in an enclosed fixture, only a bare-bulb fixture. But for closets, garages, pantries, basements, etc., it's perfect.Honest reviews on First Alert PIR720RN Motion Sensing Light Socket
I bought four of these. So far they appear to work well. They do not work with compact flourescent lights well, but are fine with incandescent bulbs.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for First Alert PIR720RN Motion Sensing Light Socket

My wife and I have a large art collection; painting flow all the way to the 10' ceilings. I ordered at least a dozen of these lights with remotes. They worked pretty good the day I installed them. That day was the END of the GOOD. After turning them off for the night, they never worked again. Every light fixture drained the batteries. I put in new batteries, and again they drained the batteries. I have had them over 6 months, and my wife has insisted everyday that I send them back to Amazon. I am NOW ready to return them---even if I don't get any monitary relief, Amazon will KNOW that this product is DEFECTIVE!

Easy to set and use. Cheap. you can highlight your paintings everywhere in your house :) i recommand this product.Best Deals for Rite Lite LPL606XLRC Wireless 8 LED Picture Light w/ Remote
This unit works very well and is kind of unique in features as of this writing, It will go on from across a large room by remote, kind of cool. The main problem is that it continually drains the batteries for some reason, even when the light is off. I would recommend removing the batteries except when you need to use it. Not the most convenient, but it is what I have been doing. It used up 3 batteries after I hadn't turned it on even once for a couple of months, even though they were basically brand new when installed. The other minor issue I had was the beam was not narrow enough to just light my frame, so I covered part of the lens with duct tape, not noticeable since the fixture is silver. Also the main housing is made of 50% plastic and 50% very thin metal, which is easily dented.Honest reviews on Rite Lite LPL606XLRC Wireless 8 LED Picture Light w/ Remote

However the cost of a 4 watt bulb was not worth the hassle to return it and wait for a new one.
I bought the exact bulb that was originally in the light, and it is super bright. Not ideal for a nightlight as it make the room too light, but my son still likes to have it on at other times.

I don't like this particular 4 pin CFL. It's not the manufacturer just being forced to have this light bulb irritates me. My kitchen and bathroom light uses this, so I am forced to get. I gave it 3 stars because the light doesn't last too long. If manufacturer make this in LED instead of CFL then it's a different story.Best Deals for Sylvania 20891 Compact Fluorescent 4 Pin Triple Tube 2700K, 13-watt
I'm not sure if this is an issue with all 4-pin CFL lamps, but they seem to die way too often to justify the cost of replacement. I bought two of these lamps in November 2011, and one is already dead after less than a year and a half. Hope that the other one lasts longer. I also bought a GE version of this lamp. Will see how long that one will last (the GE has a 5-year warranty, as claimed on the box, but if it fails, I'm not too optimistic on the warranty replacement; I'm not sure what the claimed Sylvania's warranty is).Honest reviews on Sylvania 20891 Compact Fluorescent 4 Pin Triple Tube 2700K, 13-watt

Pros:
The leds themselves (not just the cases) are green.
They have a switch that allows them to stay on hands-free.
They are really cheap (about $0.60 each).
Cons:
Two slightly different shades of green.
Several needed battery changed (but I found the batteries cheaply on amazon as well).
A few wouldn't stay on using the hands-free switch.
Overall worth it just buy extras. I bought these to hang from my jacket as a burning man costume.

I have used timers to control various electrical functions in the houses I have owned during the past several decades. Two problems always plagued me, with no easy answer: (1) how to control flourescent light fixtures, which today include replacing incadescent bulbs with CFLs; and (2) how to use a timer with a 3-way circuit. This unit is the remote 3-way switch that is used in conjuction with the Leviton VPT24-1PZ Vizia 24-hour programmable timer (that I have reviewed separately) to set up a timer circuit that will control Compact Flourescent Lightbulbs (CFL) in a 3-way circuit. Installation instructions are clear and installation is easy. This switch does not require the deep box for installation that the VPT24-1PZ Vizia 24 hour programmable timer does.

I purchased about 20 of these matching remote switches a little over a year ago, and now, a year later, they are all still working perfectely. After spending a few days with a tester determining how my wiring was routed, the house has several 3,4, and even 5-way swithes, they installed easily, and look great as well. I also install severel other types of Leviton controls I purchased from Amazon, and they all work as advertized. That is what my friend's son said. I thought at first this was not going to work, but was i wrong. I ordered it and was told it would be about a month. Then within the week it arrived. It was easy to put on. To be honest. I figured one week it would work. Then a week went by and It works great. I just love it because it turns to a red colour when it becomes hot water. It is a great gift to give for people with kids in the household or and older adult. I no longer have to keep touching the water to see if it is hot. No longer getting slight burning sensations. I am ordering more for my family to give out as gifts.

I bought and installed this bulb in a shower recessed light fixture.
On top of being much less expensive to run, it also gives off very little heat which makes it better for recessed lighting (so you are not heating up your attic).
To be honest, we have not used it a lot since it is in the shower, so I cannot comment on longevity. But we are happy so far with it.
If you want to see an example of the money you can save with LED lights, I purchased 4W MR16 from this same vendor and list the savings in my comment of it. That MR16 bulb I have been using daily for months without any problems.

Update: 06/10/2013 After having these lights for a while, they are still burning bright. However, the housings are falling apart on most of them. They actually disconnect from the based by the threaded part and become two pieces. You have to put them back together. I don't know if it is bad glue or what the problem is. When they fall apart, the only thing holding them together is the electrical wire from the screw part to the LED bulbs.

They actually disconnect from the based by the threaded part and become two pieces. You have to put them back together. I don't know if it is bad glue or what the problem is. When they fall apart, the only thing holding them together is the electrical wire from the screw part to the LED bulbs.

The lanterns came as described. They are perfect for my upcoming wedding. The hook on top makes it very easy to hang.
Not sure how long the lights will last, but I guess that depends on the battery.

It works fine but is so bright it will blind you. I will see if I can find some tinted film to tone down the brightness.
