I purchased this light bulb as a replacement for my daughter's lava lamp. She let me know that it died in less than 2 weeks. For the price of the bulb...definitely didn't get even a sliver of my money's worth.

Had these bulbs for about 3 weeks now. No problems with them as opposed to the other off brand type bulbs. These fit perfectly in my Whirlpool microwave.

Honest reviews on GE Lighting 10692 25-Watt Appliance Intermediate Base T7 1CD Light

My microwave is the kind that is installed above the oven, and to get some decent lighting while I'm cooking, I have to keep the microwave light bulb in working order. This light bulb fits the socket and works great. I've considered buying the socket reducer (intermediate to candelabra) so I can use the cheaper candelabra light bulbs. However, it's so easy and convenient to just order these appliance bulbs from Amazon, that I haven't bothered with it. I'll probably continue buying these.

I got these to use for my tree topper. No one seems to have them locally, and individually the cost is prohibitive. This is a super deal for a lot of bulbs. I won't be running low on these in my lifetime of Christmas tree toppers.

I bought this for my Christmas angle and it works great I am so relieve that I could find them here because I could not find them any where else. I have had the angle for years and would hate to give it up and have to get a new one with what it means to my family. We all where in agreement to put it on the tree without it working at all.So thank you so much for having these. I bought a case so She would always have a replacement.

After bypassing the ballasts in the light fixture, we put the LED tubes in. The light the cool-white LED tubes put out is beautiful. I may add a pair of warm white for a slightly warmer mix, but I'm rather happy with the intensity, and area coverage. These lights don't waste light in all directions like the old fluorescent tubes did, which makes it much easier on the eyes. The distance from the lights to the floor is 9 feet, so I can imagin the intensity would be even brighter in a 8 foot high installation. I'm amazed at the quality of light.

These things only sip 17 watts per tube, which means I'll be doing my bit in reducing my carbon footprint. :)

At 50,000 hours of lamp life, these things will be a lot cheaper by the time I have to replace them.

My only gripe is that they did not come with an instruction sheet for installation, but after inspecting the tubes, I found a tiny label which had the wiring diagram affixed to one end of the tube. Look for it, take a picture of the diagram, and print it out for use with installing the tubes.

If you can get over the cost of these tubes, it's well worth the admission price to enjoy great lighting at a reduced operating costs.

I was concerned about how these tubes would perform based on how led bulbs performed, but these really restore my faith in LED lighting.

UPDATE:

LED lighting tends to be a bit directional in nature, so if you'd like to spread the lighting more evenly across the room, just roll the outer tubes between 5 and 10 degrees toward the outside of the fixture, and you'll duplicate more closely the spread you were used to with the old flourescent, but you'll still enjoy much better quality of light. :)

I replaced three T8 fluorescents in my home office with these. I started with just one to make sure they worked and that I would be happy with the light. Bottom line -they do and I am!

The light is great, brighter than the fluorescents and very consistent. They come on almost instantly to full power and at 17 watts they use less than half the power!

They definitely did take a little work to install and if you aren't comfortable cutting a wire then these aren't for you.

Along those lines, my only dissapointment was that the box didn't include any INSTRUCTIONS for installation and their web site was even less helpful -I posted a request for support asking for instructions and never have heard from them.

Ultimately it didn't matter though. I just cut out the ballast and reconnected the wires. The first one I did took about 10 minutes. The next two, took about 5 minutes each. It's good if you have a couple of wire nuts to join the wires back together safely.

So, if you are at all handy and want some really beautiful light (and a cool conversation piece too) then go for it!

I bought these lights partly because we're quite happy with another Lighting Ever LED fixture we installed and because of the good reviews here. Overall the wife and I are happy with them, but they were a bit tricky to get working. Here's a bit of additional information that may be helpful:

These tubes (at least the current ones, with the grey "Input" marking on one end) are single-ended tubes. A single-ended tube requires a hot line and a neutral line on the same end (and no connection on the other end). A dual-ended tube takes hot on one end and neutral on the other. My fixtures (similar to most fluorescent fixtures) are wired on both ends with shunted lampholders (the little tombstone-shaped plastic holders that the pins slide into and then turn). I had to order non-shunted lampholders (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00522MPTA) and reconfigure my fixture to get the tubes to work. It's unfortunate that Lighting Ever chose the single-ended configuration, in my opinion, since it complicates wiring for many of us. It also means that if you ever switch to dual-ended LED tubes you'll need to rewire again, otherwise you'll get a nice little explosion and a tripped breaker, since dual-ended tubes have the pins at each end wired together.) It's possible this is a recent change, since other reviews of this product and pointers to wiring diagrams seem to imply that the tubes used to be double-ended. (Here's a diagram of how to wire for different options: .)

The lights take about half a second to come on. They don't flicker on slowly like the old-style fluorescents in all my grade school buildings, but they're slower than incandescents or the rapid-start electronic ballast that we replaced. It's a bit odd to flip the switch and count a beat before the lights come on, but you get used to it. And once they're on they seem to be at full brightness. No warm-up period like fluorescents.

If you're not sure about color, go with the warm white. We sent the cool white ones back and got warm white, which is still not cozy warm like incandescents, but it's ok for our taste. The cool white color isn't as bad as in Joe vs. the Volcano, but it is rather blue.

All that aside, they work well and are a good deal for the price. I've been waiting 10 years for LEDs to become affordable and let us move beyond those unsufferable fluorescents, and it's finally starting to happen. It's good to be green.

Honest reviews on Lighting EVER Brightest 20 Watt 4 foot T8 LED Tube Lights, 60W

Materials and design

-----------------

The extruded aluminum 'tube' is nice and heavy, it gives the impression of being a good heat sink. The array of LEDs are surface mounted onto a long thin single sided PCB that slides into grooves in the aluminum extrusion. Internally the LED board is held a couple of mmoff the internal center surface of the heat sink so they're depending on the circuit boards edge touching the side of the heatsink/tube to conduct away the heat.

The big design problem is the mounting of the power supply. It is a 4" long PCB slid into the 'back' cavity of the tube with a pair of wires routed around the end of the extrusion and soldered to the LED PCB. The wires in one of my units were completely severed because there is nothing to hold the power supply boards from sliding back and forth in the tube, it was probably dropped in shipping at one point and the inertia of the power supply pulled hard enough to cleanly sever both DC supply wires against the sharp end of the extrusion. Worse one of the units made the usual 'click click click' sound of a shorted power supply when turned on, it turns out there is no insulation between the metal aluminum tube and the bottom of the power supply PCB, on this unit there was a little too much solder on some of the component leads and that solder was touching the metal case causing a short on the low voltage side. I stuck a piece of electrical tape over the bottom of the PCB and slid it back in to fix this problem. If you like excitement and decide to install these I would strongly recommend wearing insulated gloves in case any of the high voltage connections happen to touch the case.

I didn't see a UL mark on the units (AC can easily be in direct contact with the metal case and there is no provision to ground the case so they may have trouble getting an agency certification) and there is no indication of an agency certification anywhere on the packaging or docs. Perhaps they shipped me a different product than is listed on Amazon.

Installation

-------------

On the plus side a wiring diagram is included, two in fact, on the minus side neither of them could possibly work. As other reviewers have noted the actual unit is wired to receive power on the two pins on the same side of the tube despite the diagrams. On the fixture/ballast I rewired the tube connectors didn't allow for separate connection of the 2 pins on either side of the tube. If you have 'instant start, shunted' style ballast wiring expect some fun with a dremel or a trip to a h/w store to pick up a new set of unshunted connectors. Installation took way too long due to the plain wrong wiring diagrams included and the need to modify the connectors.

It is telling that the 'QA' sticker is stuck to the wiring diagram (used like tape to hold it wrapped around the unit) rather than the unit itself. The wiring diagram IS a nice looking piece of paper, though for some other unit.

Startup

--------------

The little switching power supply in each tube takes some time to start, less than 1 second for the 4 I installed. This is on par with other switching power supply driven LED's from other vendors.

Quality of light

--------------

The light quality is good and while they call it warm its as warm as any other 3800K LED's -so its not so warm compared to those 'warm' pink fluorescent tubes you can get. However its what I wanted for my utility room. The diffuser they include is appropriate and spreads the very directional light nicely, but not a whole lot. They work great in a fixture that has a diffuser over the tubes.

Summary

--------------

My main problem is the unspeakably poor integration/assembly of the units I received. I think due to the metal construction of the tube any shorts caused by the lack of insulation or mechanical support of the power supplies will likely cause a breaker to trip before actually causing a fire. I would never install one of these in a location where a person could touch the metal casing.

Read all the reviews. Seems like not all the product out there is the exact same. I ordered 2 tubes, and they came packaged nicely. With the warnings i read about on reviews here, i carefully examined the tubes i got. One end was CLEARLY labeled with an "L" and an "N" next to the two pins. I assumed those meant "Load" and "Neutral". Pulling the cap off i saw each pin had it's own wire, though i couldn't quite see where there were heading to. More importantly, taking the other end cap off, I saw there were absolutely no electrical connections to the pins. So therefore, the L & N must refer to Load (hot) and Neutral.

** Turn off power at service panel, and also at light switch. **

The rewiring the 2-tube fixture was pretty simple. I completely disconnected the ballast. Black wire (hot) connected to the side of one "tombstone" that was going to receive the "L" pin. The same side of that tombstone was connected by a short jumper to the other "tombstone" on the side that would receive the "L" pin of the other tube.

The white (neutral) wire got connected to the side of one tombstone that was going to receive the "N" pin, and a short jumper was used to connect that side of the tombstone to the side of the other tombstone that was going to receive the "N" pin from the 2nd tube.

L-to-L and N-to-N means the two tubes are connected in PARALLEL, which is the way they must be connected. Even the lousy included instructions mention that.

The color of the warm-white tubes are a very close match to the warm-white fluorescents we were using. They are somewhat brighter, using only 16W compared to the 32W of the fluorescents they are replacing.

I will be ordering 2 more to replace the other 2 bulbs in the same area.

Just received this today, will update this review later if needed. This appears to be superior to the popular Pak light. 6 LEDs instead of two; two levels of brightness. Also only about $9, whereas the basic pak light is a couple of dollars more, I believe. Also super saver shipping.

The LED assembly snaps on securely; doesn't seem likely to come off in normal usage. The LEDs are recessed, which I like. The pak light LEDs protrude so that they are more exposed to possible damage, plus the light tends to shine in your eyes.

I have 2 pak lights I use around the house and they are great flashlights. But I tried carrying one in my pocket, and it had a tendency to turn itself on. I would pull it out and it would already be on and running down the battery. This light has a more recessed and smoother switch that doesn't seem as susceptible to accidental turning on. Also the switch is larger; the pak light switch is tiny.

Another (minor) thing I liked is the included battery is black, which matches the LED assembly, so that's kind of cool. Standard battery though, not alkaline.

My one complaint (to Amazon) is that this flashlight didn't come up when I searched on "9 volt flashlights" or even "6 LED flashlight." I only found this because it came up as a 'suggestion' at the bottom of the page when I was searching on the above. Perhaps because it's sold by a 3rd party. Anyway, my initial impression is very positive and I will probably buy more as gifts unless some problems develop.

UPDATE

I've had this for a couple of weeks now. I've tried carrying it in both my front and back pocket and no problems with accidental turning on. LED's also remain securely in place.

Just noticed something curious: at the top of the page it says unavailable. But this product also shows on a different page as "Mini Compact Size Ultra Bright 9V LED." With different customer reviews and it says "in stock." Appears to be the same item, down to the "9 Lives" battery. So if you want one, try searching with that name.

I bought this to light up the bathroom during south Florida power failures. It stands up nicely unlike most of my flashlights. The low setting is good enough most of the time so the battery should last a long time. I noticed when I took into my large garage the light pattern we not very even, in fact it was pretty bad then again this was less than 10 bucks. The other 9V flashlights for twice or three times the price might have a better light pattern but the light is good enough for what I need it for, especially considering I can buy three of these for the price of the high end 9V flashlight.

Best Deals for Blocklite (TM) Mini Compact Size Ultra Bright 9V Eveready Battery

I own several flashlights, including a few of these type that pop onto a 9v battery. I bought this one more for curiosity since it didn't have a brand name or much of a description. I am impressed with the amount of light this little guy can produce. It has two settings, the low setting uses just the two middle LED's and the bright setting uses all six. Both setting produce enough light to easily find your way around the woods or light up a decent size room. The flashlight seems to be built with quality in mind, having no rough edges and a firm grip on the 9v battery. I would say that this light is a very good value and would be excellent for hiking or as an emergency light around the house or in your car.

I purchased 10 of these for my house as a demo for clients and for testing purposes. The light output is extremely bright and retains the warm color rating around a 3000K range.

The dimming feature works really well with solid state dimmers. My experience with LED bulbs is that the fancy electronic touch plate type dimmers do not usually like the LED bulbs. My only complaint would be that they are almost too bright at times.

In my own tests I replaced the 75W halogen bulbs in my can lights with the LED bulbs. The original 10 were using 750W per hour of use and with the new bulbs that is only 180W of power per hour of usage.

My electric bill with new LED bulbs in all of the other fixtures plus the can lights saved approximately 15% from the previous months usage. Since the electric is billed on a tiered structure the power savings came off of the top tier of usage resulting in a savings of about $35.00 to $40.00 over the previous months bills.

I had 5 90watt incandescent bulbs in the ceiling of my kitchen that I wanted to replace. Since the 100watt LED equivalent was way too expensive, I took a chance on the 75watt equivalent and hoped it was not too dim. I replaced 2 of the 90watt bulbs and turned on the lights. Wow. They looked the same brightness. I am guessing that since LED produces light with a higher contrast that it made up for the difference in brightness. Looking forward to smaller electric bills!!

I have a set of 4 can-lights, and bought this as a replacement for one of them (buying all 4 (for $120+) seemed excessive). Unfortunately, the light emitted wasn't the same color as the other lights (a more traditional "soft white").

I moved the light to a fixture that didn't have any partner-lights, and have been happy with the performance. Plenty bright, and the light works well when dimmed (and doesn't make noise)

We've tried several different kinds of LED light bulbs to replace our incandescent recessed canned lights. These are the best so far. The color is excellent without any bluish, yellowish or greenish tint that most of the others have. One of the things I've noticed about the LED's generally is that the light doesn't seem to diffuse or disburst as randomly as incandescents, so there always seems to be a certain harshness, and the shadows more severe. These lights seem to get around that for the most part. The fact that they're dimmable let's me place them in a great variety of locations. Of the 6-7 we've tried, these are definitely my favorites.

UPDATE: I've ordered these lights 3 times, and I'm extremely disappointed with LED Wholesalers. I have 5 different lights, but the product number is the same for all of them. On the box some are rated 130W equivalent, some 100W. Some have an opaque difuser, some don't, some have different patterns of LEDs visible. I'm stuck with having to try to match lights so that the same appearance and brightness are in the same ceiling. The 1322WW DM/130Weq is a great light, but there's no guarantee that you'll get what you've ordered as pictured and specified. In my view, Amazon should drop LED Wholesalers as unreliable.

Best Deals for LEDwholesalers Dimmable PAR38 14 Watt LED Wide Angle Flood Light

This LED dimmed but produced significant/annoying flickering when doing so. Read on if you want to see what I was comparing to.

I've tried the following PAR38's:

the ones I'm reviewing

ecoSmart 407976 from HD 24W (125W equivalent 1300 lumens)

ecoSmart 407414 from HD 18W (110W equivalent 1200 lumens and daylight white)

ecoSmart 866914 from HD 18W (75W equivalent 850 lumens)

Philips AmbientLED 900 lumen/18W version (I've seen 760 and 1050's at HD too)

Of all the above I went with the Philips ones they produced the right amount of lumens while sticking to 18W. The 24W ecoSmart was fine but didnt seem "25%" brighter than the Panasonic or any of the other 18W ones, but it did get a lot hotter. The 18W/850lumen ecoSmart produced buzzing could have been a dodgy lamp maybe? My advice for anyone comparing is to get all the PAR38's from HD and try them yourself.

Honest reviews on LEDwholesalers Dimmable PAR38 14 Watt LED Wide Angle Flood Light

Superb light output and these can be dimmed extremely well down to near zero without flickering on an X10 style remote light control system. I think the warm white works better in living room and entertainment room areas with earth tone colors than the blue-ish light output from the pure white 5100K color temperature bulbs.

After reading the various reviews, we ordered this bulb to use in a track light that was one of 3. We wanted to test out one bulb before paying the hi cost for 3 of them. Results: not worth ordering. The bulb puts out about half the light of a 90 watt Par38 bulb. I am using it at the end of the track where I do not work. I wish I had bought it at a local store so that I could return this expensive item.

Purchased this for my husband, this is his review of the Bulb Buddy:

Love it, great way to keep halogen bulbs from breaking. Wish I had this at work (we use spot lights at work and I have broken plenty of bulbs simply because we do not have the BULB BUDDY). Halogen bulbs are very fragile and break easy. REMEMBER do not handle halgen bulbs with your bare hands (oils on hands burn out bulb). Each bulb in this container has a tab that you can use so that you don't touch the bulb during installation. Great value for the money.

These lights work as advertised but they also get very hot and the ends which are ceramic get brittle and crack which in my case causes them to lose their connectivity to the light socket and go out. So you might not get the full life of the bulb

First off, these other reviewers are totally missing the point. The "over-packaging" is a selling point for fragile items like bulbs and neither of them actually rated the PRODUCT. The hard case is great, really protects your bulbs and allows for easy storage in a toolbox. The bulbs fit snug in the foam inserts to keep from breaking the glass or damaging the filament inside the bulbs. They're super bright and put off a lot of heat, but really light up your workspace. Make sure not to touch the bulbs when installing them or else you'll create a hot spot on the bulbs from the oils in your hand. If you keep the bulb parallel to the ground you'll get more life from the filament. If their angled on a hill or uneven surface, it can cause quicker wear on the filament. I'd recommend them for the case alone. I've had no problems with them yet.

This is a good light and I really like Coast products and their lifetime guarantee but it is not a 60 lumen light like the product description claims (I did submit product update info so maybe Amazon has changed their description by the time you read this). There is a huge yellow circle on the front of the package that says 28 lumens. Also, the battery life is not 17 hours it is 48 hours. I definitely wanted more lumens but at least with low lumens you get more battery life. That being said, this 28 lumen light pretty easily lights up everything in a 15x15 dark room so it's more than enough if all you need is short range light, but with no beam focus the beam won't get very far if you are outside.

First, let me say that this flashlight is meant to be a `thrower'...i.e. for long range illumination. Because of its very bright center spot, this flashlight is a bit `overkill' for simple jobs around the house (such as changing a fuse, checking the inside of a dark cabinet, etc.). It does, however, have pretty decent `spill' as well (i.e. the area around the center spot), for general area illumination. But if you ARE looking for a `thrower', this flashlight (being reviewed) is a good `in-between' choice. I say `in-between' because I'm going to compare it to 2 other `thrower' units I own. One is a small, but very bright `pocketable-sized' flashlight that gets it's power from two CR123A lithium ion batteries. At about 75-100 yards, that `small/pocketable' lithium ion driven flashlight provides about 80% of the illumination of the flashlight being reviewed on this page. Considering that the `small/pocketable' flashlight is only 20% of the size of the flashlight being reviewed, the slightly less illumination of the `pocketable' flashlight is a small trade-off for it being so small. On the other hand, CR123A batteries can cost about $5 (each) or more, and with the high intensity out-put of that small flashlight, (resulting in a high rate of discharge for the batteries), those $10 worth of lithium ion batteries would only last about an hour in that small flashlight. On the other side of the coin, I have a medium sized, hand-held, 4 C Cell alkaline (non-rechargeable) spotlight that, at 75-100 yards, puts out about 20% more illumination than the flashlight being reviewed (and both units cost about the same). But that 4 C Cell spotlight is (easily), 8 times the size of the flashlight being reviewed here. So, for such a large device, with 4 C Cells, the illumination of that spotlight is not so spectacular. However, the spotlight's main advantage (along with the slightly higher light output), is that the 4 C Cells are rated at 30 hours in duration. That doesn't mean, of course, that you'd get full brightness for all 30 of those hours. From my experience with alkaline battery units, the full brightness lasts for about 33% of the advertised duration. The remainder of the time, the light continues to diminish. (But you'll have to test that for yourself with any flashlight/spotlight unit.) Now for the `in-between' choice as compared to both of the units that I described above: It's the flashlight being reviewed here. It's got a decently long `throw' (as I described above), and a decent light duration (rated by the manufacturer at 3 hours I believe...but again, don't expect the full brightness to last for the 3 hours). And, unlike the small/pocketable flashlight that quickly uses-up expensive CR123A lithium ion batteries, the flashlight being reviewed uses three AA alkalines...which are cheap by any standard. And it's, also, `in-between' again because the flashlight being reviewed has almost 80% of the light capacity at 75-100 yards as compared to the 4 C Cell spotlight, but at 1/8th the size of the 4 C Cell spotlight. My only complaint with the flashlight being reviewed here is that the threads for the battery compartment are a little hard to correctly position in order to thread the end-cap on it correctly...a minor point. And, with most such units today that use a plastic 'carrier' to position and insert the baterries correctly into the unit, it feels as if one small 'slip' (while inserting a battery into the 'carrier'), could break-off a spring that holds each battery in-place in the carrier. But it gnerally is a ruggedly-built flashlight with a side-clicker switch (which I prefer.) And, it's best use would be for camping in the desert. Unlike forest camping with a bunch of tree is your field of view, you have vast open spaces in the desert. That's where this flashlight would come in most handy. So, `all-in-all' it's a good `in-between' choice.

I have a LOT of high performance LED flashlights. Many different Fenix models, which I love, and a couple of Terralux and others. This one is somewhat different and I like it a lot.

PROs: Very Bright tight beam with excellent throw, Uses AA batteries, Relatively inexpensive.

CONs: Relatively big and heavy, about 1/3 the size of a 3D Maglite, High beam on/off only

Know for sure that it is an OUTDOOR light. Actually the size may be a pro, it will be hard to lose.

This is a great choice for someone who wants a very powerful and bright light, but with a low price tag. The construction is very solid and has a heavy, solid feel to it. The strike bezel is a nice feature. I have not used it for very long, so I cannot comment on battery life, but using new Duracells the light is blinding to look directly at and has lasted a while now. The beam is very concentrated and can reach out easily to 100 yards.

I ordered one of these flashlights over a year ago. My dad was so impressed with it, I bought him one. His light and my light worked great. Amazingly tight and white beam. Stunned at how great this light worked. I bought another for a friend for Christmas. The day I received the light, I opened it up and noticed the lense was really scracthed up and it was on the inside, so not really easy to clean. Once I put the batteries in, I pushed the on button, and the button stayed depressed. I had to unscrew the end cap to get the button to come back out. Light repeatedly did this so I sent it back. Props to Amazon for great customer service. The next light I received did the same thing. I was done messing with it, so I was able to place a small piece of folded up paper inside the flashlight on the opposite side as the button. Worked great when I did that. Even though the flashlight had amazing throw and brightness, the cons definately outweighed the pros. Also, none of the flashlights came with the holder that was pictured in the description. Hard to be satisified with this product.

I ride home after a college class 2 nights a week, and this flashlight makes a great bicycle headlight. I have it mounted on the handlebars and it really gets the attention of drivers on the road. It is slightly lacking in the side-spill department, but I actually prefer a good beam over the side spill.

LEDs have come a long way, and now they finally have throw like an incandescent if not better. Well, this one is better than an incandescent light. It will literally light up a street sign 1-2 blocks away. I'm still on my first set of 3 AA batteries and after about 2-3 hours of total use, the batteries are still going strong.

There is no brand name to this light whatsoever and I can't even tell what country it's made in. Sometimes when you first turn on the light, it has a very slight flickering for about 30-60 seconds. It's barely noticeable though, and maybe the light just has a voltage regulator in it?

Overall, this is an awesome bright light (unlike the LEDs of 5-8 years ago) and makes a great bicycle headlight, if you can figure out a way to mount it to the handlebars.

This transformer is solidly built and works great. I am concerned about it being mounted outside its entire life how long it will last. With it being just a toroid transformer it should be fine.

It is a nicely done product, although it will not easily accommodate something like Romex for primary wiring. I had to jumper to it with stranded Zip Cord.

Also, it has only one mounting point. With stiff wiring the assembly could be wrenched around to the point of failure.

Seems to function well so far, but it will not bring my LED assemblies to dark. That may be attributable to their design or the dimmer I have. I'll replace them with something simpler to see if what I have is trying to compensate until it falls below a usable threshold. The current design is more "intelligent" than necessary.

I like these lights for they don't throw out a harsh light when getting up during the night, but you can still see where you're going. The plus is never having to change or buy spare bulbs anymore since they're LED. During the Holidays, I change it from a white glowing light to the color changing mode to add a little ambience in the spirit of the season. A nice touch, and option that other night lights don't have. I buy them whenever I can find them for they're not readily available anywhere. I'm glad I was able to find this on Amazon.

I bought this for my toddler. I was sold on the fact that it appeared dimmable. However, the dimmest setting alternates rather quickly between vivid colors. The medium setting is solid white. The brightest setting combines white and the color changing bulb/s. For us, the medium and brightest settings are actually equally as bright. I do like that it automatically comes on in the dark. However, it's just not the soft, dim, ambient light we need.

I was hesitant to purchase a flashlight over $200, but I am not disappointed. I've been cruising the Caribbean for 3 years now on my sailboat. I am often anchored in some remote places with very little light. I had a Coleman Powermate light at 10M candlepower that I would use to scan the water before turning in for the night or if I heard noises on the water. This is an awesome light and for some strange reason is no longer produced. However, the battery was near death so I upgraded to the Olight SR90 Intimidator beast.

I have to say, that I really feel like I am violating some type of international laws when I turn this monster on at night. It lights up the night like the sun! Unbelievable, you really have to witness the power first hand. I really was speechless when I saw this beam for the first time! Too much fun. I was receiving calls on the VHF radio wondering what was going on in my part of the anchorage. I've learned over the years that 'light' is one of the best forms of safety. After numerous boat thefts in the Dominican Republic anchorage a few years back, an old man started shining a beam every night around the anchorage. The crime stopped immediately. The Olight Intimidator would be a superb choice for this type of security operation given light output and battery life. No one can hide from this beam! I would estimate that you have excellent visibility for 1/4 mile and can see things 1/2 mile away easily. It also would be a first rate choice for entering a strange harbour at night or performing search and rescue.

After using this product, I feel like I own some Alien technology. Way to go Olight and I'm glad to see that your company also works with one of my favorite companies "Fenix." You guys rock! Congrats to all your engineers! This product is wickedly cool! s/v Celtic Dream, Grenada W.I.

UPDATE 7/10/2012

After using the Olight SR90 over the past year, here are some additional comments. Hopefully Olight will receive this feedback. I would stand by all the comments above. The light has yet to disappoint and I continuously receive comments by bystanders when it is used. It's truly incredible. (The guy caught peeing on the beach in the dark probably won't think so.) Here are some small items that are irritating that can be corrected in future generations:

1. Build the case so that it can be stowed fully assembled with the strap attached ready to deploy. I use this light for security mainly and it's no use to me if I have to remove it from the case and assemble it for 2-3 minutes. Therefore, I haven't used the seriously deluxe case since purchased. I keep this light no more than 1 ft from my hand at night. It's the next best thing to having a weapon in a security situation.

2. Change the case construction to non metal. In a salt environment, everything corrodes. The case is a work of art, but not totally suitable to harsh marine environment. A tactical style case would be ideal similar to those that an underwater metal detector or mandolin is shipped. Quick deployment from the case would also be a plus.

3. Include the 12v charger. I mainly charge my Olight with the 12v car charger. Would be nice if it was included. It is available at a $16 extra. Works excellent.

4. Build a lens cover that can easily be removed, it inevitably gets a smudge on the lens when not in use.

I still recommend this light as the best production model flashlight on the market! Too much fun. Get one before they stop selling them to the public. That's what happened to many of the good lights in the past.

The Olight SR90 is currently the brightest LED light commercially available, though that will surely change in time. It is an extremely solid, well-built light. It is heavy, so if using it for an extended time, the included shoulder strap comes in handy. Considering the brightness, the battery time is surprisingly long at over an hour on the high setting. Whether the cost of this light is worth it to you depends on how much you need it, or how much you simply enjoy these types of lights (there's nothing wrong with that). Recently there were hunters/hikers on the cliffs behind the building where I live, with 3 lights in a triangle pattern, which is a universal distress signal. The fire department was called, but their brightest lights couldn't sufficiently illuminate the area several hundred yards away for them to be able to tell what the situation was. They called the fire department helicopter. As they waited for it to arrive, I got out my SR90 and lit up the area from a distance of probably 500 yards or more (I was farther away than the FD). It was enough for the FD to see with their binoculars that the people weren't in distress, and they cancelled the helicopter. I felt kind of good about that. If you're considering this light and the price is worth it to you, you won't be disappointed.

Best Deals for Olight SR90 Intimidator with Luminus SST-90 LED 2200 Lumens

The Olight SR90 Intimidator is a large flashlight using the Luminus SST-90 emitter operating at its full rated output. It is the brightest LED flashlight and compares favorably to HID searchlights without their disadvantages. It comes with batteries, charger, carrying strap, and a nice case. When considering the cost of all the supplied accessories, the price is very reasonable.

CandlePowerForum has a detailed product review on the Olight SR90 that contains lots of technical information and beam shots.

For many uses, the SR90 on low will be as bright as needed, and at this setting it will run over 8 hours. At full power it will run over 1 hour, and has adequate heat sinking so that it can run at full power continuously. The tail cap has a nice indicator that displays battery power remaining.

The Olight SR90 is highly recommended for anyone who needs a big powerful searchlight with high quality of design and construction.

Honest reviews on Olight SR90 Intimidator with Luminus SST-90 LED 2200 Lumens

Ok I have now owned the Olight SR 90 for one month and this is what I encountered.

Pros Very bright (brighter than the H beams on my 2001 VW Beetle), Good focus on beam (light can illuminate objects 1000 yards away verified with range finder), and decent battery life

Here is why I gave it a bad review. The first light I received had a bad battery and wouldn't charge. Amazon shipped out a replacement that worked (++++ for AMAZON). The second light worked but I am now having problems with the battery one month later. The manufacture has poor quality control. Both light had multiple cold solder joints. The circuit boards weren't cleaned after soldering (leeds to corrosion). One circuit board on the second light was warped due to improper installation. Internal screws are being striped by manufacture. Simply put the exterior looks great but to a trained eye the interior is a mess. Due to the way the 2 were put together I would't expect the light to last more than a year. Olight is a China located business so dealing with them directly is hard.

Maybe I just got 2 lemons but even then I wouldn't expect to see so many sloppy errors.

Basically, if the light doesn't work when I need it, it is trash. A dimmer light is better than no light in my eyes.

I bought this light on 12-20-2011 from Amazon since reading on many forums it is "the" light to get.

Pros:

WAY bright and works wonderful. Nice charger and wicked case. Brighest light I have ever used and no "buying" batteries needed; just use the charger! Great throw and on high is longer then 80 minutes run time. Head does not get over 125 F degrees based on laser IR meter. Focused beam and nice LED. Nice handle/battery.

Cons:

Very heavy light and the plastic tab that covers the charging port will break. Do not drop the light (glass lens). What kind of silicone to use on the o-ring? Battery is expensive to replace if needed or buy an extra. No lens cover either.

Update7-11-2013; light died and I had to call CHINA (where made) to get someone to try and fix un warrenty. So far, the light DIES after 1.5 years....Lights SUCKS in my eyes...sorry bright but trying to get fixed is a total JOKE...Will let you know what happen since I sent the dead light out last week. For $350 and it dies after 1.5 years...sad.
