Please be aware that the amber night light, when on, is very bright.

Also, when electrical power is interupted to this unit, it is the amber night light that stays on. You must slide the switch on the side of the unit by hand to change to the white flashlight. On several other brands, it is the night light that goes off and the bright white light that comes on automatically when power is interupted.

I can't say enough about these. I bought the first several years ago for the main bathroom, and it has served its purpose reliably through a number of power outages (although I should warn you that it lasts only about 6 hours... if you have a 60 hour outage like we had a couple years ago, you'll want a "standard flashlight" handy). A couple months ago I bought 3 more to make sure other parts of the house had lighting at night, and they've also served us well (although, fortunately, we've not had any power outages since the 10 hour one from Christmas Eve into Christmas day... but such is life in the suburbs of Chicago). I've just ordered 3 more so I have these reliable units available when I discover where else I'd like one. Of the ones I've looked at, these seem to work best.

We have 6 of these at the office. During the big rains in the SF Area our power went out. They worked great.

As a new mommy, I use these nightlights to be able to see when I'm up for nighttime feedings, etc. They are the perfect amount of light to see what you're doing and the lighting is soft enough that it doesn't wake the baby all the way up. The flashlight comes in handy during power outages and if you need actual light.

These Leviton lights have worked great for me. I use one as a night light and power failure light in a child's bedroom. In the master bedroom, I use one as a power fail light only. This is possible because there is a slide switch on the side that allows you to choose modes. The night light is a warm amber color which has just the right output for lighting a hallway or bedroom. The flashlight is good for finding one's way into or out of a darkened space or performing tasks such as resetting a breaker but is not a particularly wide beam so it might limit more general uses. The plug prongs can fold flat into the body which may be useful if you want to travel with it. I live in earthquake country so having these in a few locations around the house gives me extra peace of mind.

Just got this light and compared it to my old led light idk what led it was but it used 3 aaa batteries and it has a hotspot but this new one with a AA battery this gives a nice even lighting because of the projector lense. For the price I can't complain. It is bright I would say it is very close to 300 lm

This light is small, but packs quite a punch as far as light goes. Only takes a AA battery. You can pull the top to narrow or expand the light view....interesting.

I haven't done any extensive testing, but this light is really bright, compact, and sturdy (and inexpensive!!) Met my needs perfectly. Note I was using it in an assembly and the light is very close to a 1" diameter, and the clip is removable with 2 small screws.

Awesome lights!! Very easy install and great light output. Works with just about every dimmer switch I have tried. I will say that when you attach the included transformer to line voltage make sure you make the connection in a juction box (small box and cover at lowes was $.80) this will keep you within code for most areas. As far as IC and Non IC. I dont really understand why these cant be used in an insulation contact area. They generate zero heat after 5 hrs of use. It might have something to do with moisture control. I also purchased the comperable lights from lightingever.com and found that the quality and design of torchstar models are much better. I will be buying more of these as my projects start to ramp up.

For the price of these lights there simply isn't a better deal. I installed 14 of these in my house last week and they are awesome. High light output, low heat, no humming which happens with some low voltage and led lights. I needed low profile lights for an install with limited space and these did the trick perfectly. If they continue to perform they way they do these are the best lights on the market.

These lights are good quality, dim nicely, will supposedly last a very long time, and put off a nice light. I couldn't be happier. I should add that these lights are a bit warmer color temp than I expected. I am putting them in the basement and thought that 3000k would be a little closer to white daylight. But these ended up looking fairly close to an incandescent light. Not a complaint, just a FYI.

If I had to nit-pick, I wish the lights came with a little circle template to give us a guide on how big to cut the hole in the drywall.

As long as they last as long as they say they will, I can definitely recommend these.

These lights are not housed in a flimsy housing. I was very impressed by the weight of this unit. The light output is great as well, very bright. Great to put on a LED dimmer switch. The light coming out is a yellowish warm light, so 3000K. If you want more of a day light shine, find 6500K output. The one drawback I found was the wiring; if you're a handy person you'll be able to work the wiring with these lights with no problem. If you are not so handy, find some 16 or 20 gage wire and attach it to the unit, then attach those two leads to the house wiring. For this reason I dropped a star, but would recommend this nit to anyone. I also love the cieling clips, better than any other unit I've seen.

I thought this was a good deal with the 14500 l-ion battery included. I bought two, one for myself and one for my wife. They are the perfect size for a purse, briefcase or vest pocket. The clip is nice and tight. The batteries seem to last a long time and the flashlight is bright for its size. Is it 300 lumen, I don't know. All these Chinese Cree flashlights seem to over-rate their lumens, but it is bright, with an even dispersal pattern until you get is zoomed all the way out, then you see the actual square pattern of the Cree LED itself. I didn't give it five stars for two reasons; (1) it has the three modes (bright, dim and strobe) which I tend to find annoying to have to cycle through each mode to get to the one you want. If a flashlight won't turn on to the last mode used, then it shouldn't have more modes than on and off; (2) the identical flashlight is available on Amazon from Hausbell or FordEx Group that is a simple on/off switch and uses either the 14500 battery or a normal AA alkaline battery. I now have one of those and find it physically the same in all other respects.

These are low voltage landscape lights. The price is competitive. First, mark your burned out bulbs, then turn of power to the lights at the controller. Now, you simply have to pulls the old burned out bulbs out (watch out for inssects that made a home in the containers that house these bulbs), pulls out the wires, take a screwdriver and remove the wires, re-attached the wires to the new bulb, and replace the bulb and container in the ground. These bulbs fired right up, no problem. Be sure to get the wattage the same or close to what you have, otherwise you will have some brighter (or duller) bulbs and your landscape lighting may look wierd. No issues with the bulbs, the delivery, the packing, ...

I bought this lamp thinking that it was a flood light. It has some focus and illuminates to a focused area. I bought it for my RV to shine the area (two flood lamps) of the picnic table. Its a good lamp if you like to focus, but I bought it to illuminate a large area with no focus. I needed a light and had a hard time getting the lamp I wanted in a short time.

I bought two of these with the idea of allowing my boyfriend or myself to read in bed after the other had gone to sleep. Unfortunately, the light dims the longer it is on so after about an hour of reading it is almost useless. If I leave it off for a day it comes back on at full strength so I think it is not draining the batteries, just drawing more than they can handle. I was also disappointed with how inflexible the clip is. I was hoping to be able to clip it to the cover of my ereader, but it won't grip so I end up holding the light like a flashlight which rather defeats the purpose.

I do like how light weight it is since it could basically be clipped on to any paper reading material. It also folds up small enough to fit in a pocket which makes it nice for travel. Sadly, I doubt I would use it for either of these purposes since it is really only good for short bursts of reading and I'm more the type to read for several hours at a time.

My mom's front pathway gets very dark and the solar lights that she's been using only lasted a year or two. The Solar Ray is well-built, attractive, and really lights her pathway nicely. The unusual shape actually helps to keep water from getting into the lights and ruining the battery and electronics. The soft-white light from the Solar Ray is more directional (directed down towards the path) so it does a much better job of lighting the pathway than the other solar lights we've used. I've included some before/after shots so you can see how nice the lights look. My mom loves them!

I have ordered 2 sets (6 lights). I was suprised that there was no manual/instruction sheet. I have installed them and they look very nice. All of them lit first day, but one didn't the next day. I am planning on replacing the rechargible battery before I call the manufacturer(I don't even know who the manufacturer is as I don't any instruction sheet). The fixtures give nice ambient light (not so bright) but looks beutiful. The stakes are not of good quality. Don't plan on moving them around a lot. If you do, dig them out rather than pulling them by hand to avoid snapping the stakes. If I succeed fixing the bad light, I plan to order one more set soon. I love solar lights!

UPDATE: 12/3/2011

Hold on to any action on this. I am monitoring these. For some reason, they are all out in 4 hours. One of them is not turning on in the night. I pressed the button manually yesterday. May be that will do. Also, I have planned to check the batteries' charge capacity using the battery tester I have purchased recently. I will post details in a few days.

These are the best looking solar lights I ever bought. They are still working except the one I had problem two years back which I removed it.

These lights are great. As with all solar powered lights, they are not super bright but they do the job. I had one in the garage because i had to fix something and the light stayed on for 24 hours. I like the look as well...very retro and it lights the driveway nicely. worth the extra money.

I've been installing under cabinet lighting for over 20 years and find LED to be the best & brightest. I replaced some small flourescent fixtures with these because the light is brighter and more pleasing to the eyes. The flourescent light fixtures got very hot and I was affraid they would affect the finish on my new custom made furniture. I recommend them to all my customers.

I'm giving this 3 stars because it would be unfair to give it 5 or 1...

I have not purchased this flashlight... Because I can't figure out what it is.

At one place in the description it says:

Dimensions: length 8-1/2", barrel diameter 3/4", lamp-head diameter 1-1/4"; weight with batteries 7 oz

In another place it says:

Product Dimensions: 5 x 3 x 12 inches ; 8 ounces

Which is it?

12 inches or 8-1/2"

barrel diameter 3/4" or 3 inches

lamp-head diameter 1-1/4" or 5 inches

The picture doesn't really help either. It says it uses 3-AA and puts out 100-120 lumens. That would be acceptable if true, but I'll never know for sure, because I need a flash light with a barrel diameter of no more than 1 inch (3/4" would be better). I'm not going to buy it if it doesn't match my need, and since I can't be confident... no sale today.

Alright, its a cheap flashlight. I shouldn't expect that much, and I didn't here's whats wrong. When fully zoomed in spot light mode the Lens does not round the light output from the LED at all so you have a square patch of light. The zoom mechanism has no way of locking. The mode cycle starts from the beginning each time you turn the light on. The adapter for the battery is too small and therefore shakes around ( I wrapped some duct tape around mine quiets it. Again, this is no LED Lenser or Coast or Fenix.
