I bought one of these for use in my kitchen and it gets the job done. The color doesn't have a "warm" feel like the bulb it replaced, but after a couple days I didn't notice the difference anymore. Be aware that it's a more white than yellow color. I'm still very satisfied with this purchase.

This is the second bulb I had to replace in over 20 years. The first replacement broke within a week of installation because the fixture fell from the ceiling and crashed onto my head, smashing the bulb into a thousand bits in my hair, the kitchen floor, the table and cupboard. Everywhere. Days of picking up glass... lots of fun for the whole family.

Anyway, I fixed the ceiling fixture and ordered a second bulb. it's a Philips, nice bright white, and will hopefully last for many years to come.

This is a super flashlight. First, it is not very bright. The white light is bright enough to see your way around the house and through the woods, but I wouldn't chose this light for searching for a lost dog at night.

It is small, easily fits in a pocket, and I have been using it with the original battery (one AA) for seven months. I can turn it on/off and change colors with one hand. I have used it clipped to the bill of a hat, and it made a fine headlamp. The red filter provides dim light, but it is enough to see my way around the house, preserves night vision, and doesn't bother my wife when I come to bed late.

I wouldn't chose this for my primary flashlight, but it is probably the one I use the most.

I got this flashlight to mount to the bottom of my sd video camcorder. I wanted something very small and lightweight, but that also had good versatility and brightness. This flashlight is EXTREMELY small, i was actually quick shocked when i saw it for the first time. It uses one battery and should last you about 2-3 months if you use it a bunch. The light is not super duper bright, i wouldn't carry it alone as a hiking light or if i was needing a really bright light, but for the size it is adequate. It has multiple color lenses and they all serve a purpose, white is for seeing the best, red is for covert operations or lighting without being seen, or ruining your nightvision. Green is for reading topographical maps at night, blue is for picking up blood or other fluid trails (works well for spotting leaks on vehicles at night)

This light is a great pocket light, very small, bright enough to do what it needs to do, and has a lot of features for the size. Great finish quality, and good weight (feels substantial). Like i said before, if you are looking for a super bright light, this isn't for you, i usually use a led headlamp when camping, or my Blue-point xenon cr123 powered mini light which produces about 1000 times more output for its size. This is a nice little light for what it is tho.

I bought this flashlight to use at night on the bridge of a ship. It has turned out to be one of the best flashlights I have ever bought for that purpose. The battery life is excellent and it fits nicely in your pocket. For my purposes I do not want a very bright light and having the ability to switch between four different colors is a huge advantage at night when I may want a brighter or dimmer light. All in all it is a great light, I am bummed a little that the spring in the base has worn out, so I need to order another one. If you work in an environment where night vision is a priority, ie a cockpit, bridge of ship, etc, this is an excellent light.

I bought this for working around a telescope at night without having too much bright light. Having only one LED is great for that. Not too bright, not too dim. I like having the choice of something other than just white when I need it (IE Blue, Green). The battery life is great too. I was mainly wanting it for the red light.

Here's my complaint. It just isn't red enough. It's more an orange/red. Some people may be okay with that because it still preserves your night vision, and some may not want the red light too dim. But I work with the public and when I shine the red light at the eyepiece, it's just too bright for them. Luckily, I had a red lens from an older flashlight. I cut a piece from it to just fit over the red part of the wheel and glued it on with clear contact cement. Now it's perfect. I can still use the other 3 colors and the red is (finally) just right.

I still feel like I got my moneys worth because is seems like a tough little flashlight...time will tell. The description says if comes with a lanyard but it doesn't. It does have a hook for one on the back so you can wear it around your neck. A shoestring works fine. It's small & lightweight, so no neckaches. It would've gotten 5 stars had the red been redder, but I'm still recommending it.

I've had a few of the Gerber Recons over the years and have dropped/kicked/destroyed a few of them. They take a good amount of abuse (but like anything, won't survive being dropped in a deep lake.)

The flashlight is bright enough it's no Fenix, but sometimes you don't need to overpower something just to see. The white light is the strongest, and the red light is decent enough to get around in the dark. Green is pretty decent to read maps in the dark with (this is hardly used), and the blue LED is used for blood/bodily fluids, which, I'm sad to say, I try to avoid (but it IS pretty cool to play CSI with it at a hotel or somewhere dodgy.)

The battery (1 AA) has lasted a long time with this, and I'm happy with this. LEDs are great when it comes to battery life, so you can use it periodically and be relatively confident that it'll work fine.

Bottom line: If you need a flashlight that you'll use a lot and need to have handy for a myriad of uses, you can't go wrong. The price is right, and it'll take a good amount of drops like a pro.

I just built a pond and wanted to add something a little special for night time parties. Worked great for about two nights then while taking it out of the pond for the day to charge up I noticed about a cup and a half of water on the bottom of the globe. The bottom was tight but water somehow leaked through to the inside. I opened it up and the batteries where all soaked rusted. I took those out of the globe and drained the water. I let sit for about 3 days to dry out and then I put it back in the sun to charge. That night it didn't work or even turn on. If I didn't take the water out of the globe, the batteries would have leaked and destroyed the globe anyway. I give it two stars for decent shipping for the store. The globe itself gets 0.

We have a small pond and I wanted something to brighten it with light at night without having to hook anything up. The solar globe light is fairly large, not basketball size, but definitely softball. The construction seems solid and so I was confident in place the item in the water. The solar panel is situated inside the plastic shell so is invisible (how the UV passes through the plastic is a mystery to me) and The base where the nicad batteries are held is at the bottom protected by a rubber gasket. During the day the globe deceptively looks like a child's ball accidentally discarded into the water but of course, nightime is when the fun begins...

This item is incredibly bright much more so than standard garden solar lights and the transition between all the colors of the rainbow is smooth and looks awesome. Interestingly though the light doesn't cast much ambience so you have a kind of floating 'dot' rather than an omni light reflecting on the water (as shown in the picture). The light lasts all night too.

All in all a great buy especially given the price. Recommended.

like another reviewer noted, this device doesn't seem to work with all TRIAC dimmers. I'm using an Insteon dimmer and the LEDs are pretty much on or off. They seem to go full on around 10-30%. it seems to work well other than that and is much cheaper than other products.

I'm not docking them too much because their data sheet for this product does not show Insteon under the compatible dimmer table, but i was really hoping it would work.

This LED driver works great with the LED ribbon lights I bought from LEDWholesalers. It is only 26W so it will not power a whole 5M strip but that was not a factor for my setup. The trade off for it being dimmable with a standard dimmer is well worth it. Fast shipping and great service from eversale when I had some questions with install. They were very responsive and knowledgeable.

This item is a very good for the price. Biggest complaint I would put on it is the small size of the connection terminals. They are too small for standard house wiring, 14ga wire will not fit into the input terminals. Other than that, it does exactly what it is designed to do. Dimming works very well with my X10 switch setup.

This driver is great it will work with leading or trailing dimmers. The only problem I had was the cover on the line side had a hard time excepting the thickness of a 14-2 romex wire. I use this driver with tape LED lights mostly with undercabinet & above cabinet accent lighting.

Bought this LED driver based on the "dimmable" aspect for LED strip lights. I set up a test strip and tried: Leviton Touch and Mural dimmers, Lutron magnetic and electronic LV Maestro dimmers, all without successfully dimming the LED strip. I don't think I can recommend this product to be controllable with any triac dimmer. YMMV

The quality of the LED bulb is very good. I have had it in service for a couple months so far now. It is still bright and going strong. Run it every day, 12 hours a day. The color is perfect looks just like the incandescent that it replaced.

Have tried it in several applications with success. This includes outdoor landscape path lamps, indoor clip-on type desk lamps and in the work van dome light. All worked perfect with this bi-pin type bulb.

A word it will replace a 10 watt halogen bulb with same intensity of light. But it is too dim to replace a 20 watt. But this bulb does do what it is supposed to do more.

The shipping was very fast... I think it came in three business days. The quality of the light seems VERY good. Time will tell how long it will last. I used it to replace a 10 watt Halogen bulb for a cheap bi-pin malibu landscape light system. The light was the same spectrum of warm light as the malibu bi-pin. I could not tell the difference. This is equivalent to a 10 watt... maybe just slightly more bright. It will not be even close to a 20 watt.

I put the bulb into existing fixtures, replacing halogen bulbs. I upgraded the wiring to 12 guage, just to be sure that I could extend it in the future without seeing a voltage drop.

Heat:

Some other reviews have mentioned heat. To test this, I put my transformer on continuous and left the lights on for two days straight. Throughout the test, I would touch the bulb to see if there was excessive heat which could potentially cause a burnout. Not only did nothing burn out, the bulb was cool to the touch after being on for two days straight.

Size:

It is only slightly longer than the halogen bulb it replaced

Light Quality:

It is warm white, roughly equivalent to the 10 watt bulb it replaced.

Price to longevity ratio:

At 8 bucks a piece, it remains to be seen how much money each bulb will save. If the bulb lasts 50000 hours, I will save $32 bucks in energy savings plus the cost of replacement bulbs. Bulb for bulb, it will take me 18 months of 8 hour per night use to break even on the cost of this bulb with my current cost of energy.

I used to have a ballcap that had some built-in lights. It was pretty handy for camping and the like. However, it was $15.00, and eventually it gave up the ghost. SInce all the wiring was internal, I tossed it.

I have a few headlamps, but the Significant Other does not like being seen with me when I wear one. Since she is okay with ball caps, this fits the bill socially.

Operationally, it works well, is plenty bright, and I definitely like the different modes it supports. The articulation is nice as well, when you need to point it further down than you want your cap pointed.

Only detractor is that it occasionally comes out of the clear plastic holder unintentionally. Not when I am using it, mind you, but when I am NOT using it so I sometimes do not notice that it is gone, which can lead to a search when I want to find it. Since it is pretty small, it can be hard to find.

All in all, a great price, and a good item to have in the govebox, backpack and toolcart.

I had high hopes for this bulb because of the price and some reviews. I was very disappointed.

1. I don't know how they can say this is a 40W equivalent. Even a 25W incandescent bulb looked brighter when I compared the two side by side in the same style lamps.

2. The incandescent bulb had a significantly better color output. The LED bulb had a bit of a greenish cast to it and the light distribution was not as good. See the photo I uploaded.

3. These are very expensive bulbs. For the price, I expected much better.

4. The metal part of the bulb does get pretty warm.

5. At least these are better than the cheap-o ones at Walmart, but at a much higher cost.

Ok being a early adopter of this stuff I bought one of the 4w bulbs and 13 of the 6w bulbs about a year ago just when they came out after all the good reviews and hype. I figured these would be a life time investment and save me the cost of the bulb over time. Wrong!

Since then the frosting on the 4w bulb turned clear and now it does noting but through rainbows out around the edge of the light and the color looks off, just looks silly, next two of the 6w bulbs have started to buzz. I called the company to warrantee them since they where only 6 months old and got the run around telling me there are only certain dimmers they are compatible with. Funny I never saw that on any package or in there advertisement in fact you have to call the company to get that list it is not even on there web site. So basically I get the feeling they are not going to warrantee them and I got screwed. They have to know the globe not staying frosted is a problem and the buzzing is a issue since they knew right away on the phone how to stone wall me as soon as I said the word buzz.

Anyhow love the bulb the brightness is good had high hopes for this bulb but they are just not lasting so I wouldn't buy them again.

We bought two of these bulbs to try when they first came out. We promptly smoked one of them by trying to run it with an inverter providing a modified sine wave output. Don't try that! The company replaced that one for us, and the two have been in heavy duty use in a bathroom light fixture ever since. They're every bit as bright as a 40 watt bulb (measured by a light meter), and are cool to the touch. And they even have a bit of a "fade" when you turn them off, which is kind of fun. I'm about to order a couple more for lamps where we have CFLs.

Unlike the previous reviewer I was fairly impressed with this bulb. I'd say it was/is about a 40w replacement & I used it to replace a 25w fluorescent (not quite as strong but fine for my purposes).

I can read in bed with it, it doesn't feel particularly hot, I can't speak to it's longevity since I just bought it.

I like LED's and hope to see the price on them continue to drop.

Yeah, $40 is alot, I agree. If you can afford it though you'll save in the long run.

We have been checking out LED bulbs for several years now. One thing becomes "clear" the more you look into LED's, and that is nothing is as it seems from others description. One persons "opinion of what looks like a 40 watt bulb may look like a 25 watt (or less) to you. Do not buy LED bulbs thinking everything comes in nice neat packages and are as they they seem, this indeed is a grey area. Read all you can on multiple web pages and and then you have to be willing to take a few chances.

This bulb looks like it is about a 25 watt bulb. In fact most LED bulbs as a general rule seem "to me" to have about 50% of the brightness they claim. There are exceptions, but this rule of thumb has kept me from being to disappointed. That and realizing it is "just a light bulb" not a new car! Some people take the small stuff in life way to hard.

That being said, I have found this bulb to work well and give of a light looking to me to be about 25 watts. I like the energy savings, because we are paying more than $0.50 a KWH where we live, making these bulbs an even smaller investment to try out. We did find that outside (back steps, to take the dog in and out) in the cold it does start "flashing on and off." This happens at about -10 or colder. But other than that it works fine.

If you are connecting more than one LED light strip with space between them, this item is a necessity. You can connect the light strips together without an extension, of course, but if you're rounding corners or bridging spaces, you'll need this or a longer one depending on your application.

This bulb is exactly what I was looking for. The shipment arrived much sooner than the estimate and the bulb was well packaged. Some things to note:

1The light switch must stay on at all times for the bulb to work.

2There are no control settings for the bulb. It's either on or it's off.

3The bulb will only turn on when it's dark which is a great feature.

4The bulb cannot be enclosed in a globe of any sort.

5The light does not stay on long. Maybe 30 seconds or so.

6The bulb is LED so the light is pretty blue if that matters at all.

7I don't think it is technically rated for outdoor use, so keep that in mind. We have ours outside and so far no problem at all.

All in all a great bulb at a great price. I just ordered another one!

I was very disappointed in this product until I realized that I wasn't thinking when evaluating it. (Hasty reviewers should take heed.)

This light does not go on in a lit environment by design. When the light is dim, the bulb works as advertised.

The documentation was disappointing because I have not learned Chinese yet. English text explaining how dumb I was waving my hand under it in a well-lit room would have saved me some aggravation.

A longer on time than most sensor lights like this and, for sure it's the brightest sensor bulb I tried so far. Range is fine so it wont blink off to early. As crap from China goes, it seems OK. Horever another bulb I noticed was shipped directly from China was made of flamable plastic so who knows what this is made of?? Amazon needs some safty data on such items considering most reviews say it wont work properly and call it junk!!!! However as a sensor light goes this one is the one that was better than just a night light. If I bought another sensor bulb, this would be the one. But after having a bulb with nothing but Chinese lettering on the box burn up, i'm a little leary of using such things or recomending them.

Where to start? The fact that the item's listing doesn't bother to indicate that the product will be shipped from China, via the Chinese post, in a box that's covered in Chinese characters with no English translation? Perhaps the fact that the bulb shoddily manufactured (plastic elements are malformed or damaged)? Maybe the fact that the bulb hasn't been tested or certified by UL here in the United States?

Each of these are adequate reasons not to buy the bulb, all three are reasons to be angry with Amazon for allowing this retailer to damage the Amazon brand with inferior goods.

We were pretty excited about this new type of motion-sensor-in-a-bulb item on Amazon. We were looking for a replacement for our basement light that has limited ceiling height. Our existing arrangement has a CFL installed in a motion sensor that is long enough to hit our head if we are not careful, so this combined unit with it's shorter length looked like it would suit the basement location perfectly. NOT!

As soon as we received the lamp, we installed it and ... nothing! The light would not come on! Only when we tried unscrewing the bulb slightly would it come on. We made sure the light switch was on, and there was no globe or other covering on the bulb that would prevent the motion sensor from detecting motion. We found that if we waited, every once in a while the bulb would respond to our bare hand moving and come on, but that was the exception. Essentially the bulb was useless for us.

Now, we purchase from Amazon on a very regular basis, and when something doesn't work, we return the item, often asking for a replacement, less often for a refund. Given that there are no controls or switches on the unit, it was pretty clear that the unit was either defective or simply would not work properly, so we requested a refund, and within a day Amazon dutifully refunded our CC account. We also received the usual email with a link to the return address label, which we printed out and were about to tape back onto the return shipping box when we noticed the label stated "POSTAGE REQUIRED".

For ALL of the items we have returned, either for a replacement or for a refund we have NEVER had to pay for return postage to Amazon or to ANY seller. We were surprised! Was this a new policy of Amazon's? Will we now have to pay for return postage for all items we want to return to Amazon in the future. In large part, we purchase so much on Amazon for the reason that (at least in the past) that we would NOT have to pay for return postage no matter what the item is. So this was new for us.

Then came the kicker ... the address on the return label is to CHINA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So in order for us to get a refund, we are supposed to pay postage to return the $15 light bulb to CHINA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We haven't had a chance to get to the post office just yet but on the USPS web site, the cost to send the 9oz light bulb package would be $14.90 (or $13.41 if we ordered a shipping label online). So after paying for the return postage to CHINA!!!!!!!!!! we would get about a $2 refund from our original purchase of $15.69.

We checked to see if there was anything on the original Amazon web page for the light bulb that would have indicated that the bulb would be sent to us from CHINA, or indicated that in the event of a return that we would be liable for return postage to CHINA!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We saw NOTHING on the Amazon web page to that effect.

Given this new development, we will have to re-evaluate our purchasing practices if this is the new normal for returning our purchases to Amazon. Where is the item being shipped from? What is the seller's (and/or Amazon's) refund policy? Will we have to pay for return postage, and to WHERE?

We have been a bit blind-sided by this experience, but consider ourselves lucky that it happened with an item that was only $15.69 and weighted only 9oz. The question is, do we now have to contact each seller before we purchase any item on Amazon to find out what their return policy is?

A bit of a waste of time ...

Bottom line ... you might want to look elsewhere if you're looking for a light bulb with a motion sensor that will actually work for you (unless it doesn't matter to you if you ever get your $15.69 back)!

I purchased this flashlight in July 2011, when it was first released. As an owner (and huge fan of) other Streamlight products, I had high expectations for this product. As you would expect, it meets and exceeds those expectations.

I work as a Paramedic for a local county agency, and also volunteer with a Rescue Squad. I keep the flashlight in the provided holster on my belt loop when working, where it is small enough to stay completely out of the way, but still easily accessible. Click #1 yields the perfect brightness for checking pupils and other dim-lighting needs.

I usually skip right over Click #2 (Medium) since I much prefer Click #3 (Full Brightness) for regular lighting needs. For it's compact size (fits perfectly in my hand, being the size of my palm), this is a very bright light, easily lighting most areas. Walking into a dark residence, going to traffic accidents at night, or most other situations, this will suit you perfectly. It's not going to replace a full-size flashlight, but I won't be carrying a full-size flashlight with me on a daily basis either.

For a familiar comparison I recently got a LED Mini-Maglite (which takes 2 AA batteries). This Streamlight ProTac EMS is equally as bright, while being much smaller, weighing less, and only taking 1 AA battery. As far as batteries go, I've replaced them twice in the 8 months I've had it And this current set is still going strong.

My only complaint is the included holster. While it's a nice nylon holster, and it works well, I've found that after a few months the Hook-and-Loop closure is starting to fray apart and isn't holding very well. It still stays closed and keeps the flashlight in, but it doesn't have that satisfying grip and "crackle" of a fresh one. Not sure how or where I could purchase a replacement.

I'm an EMT for both a local fire department and adjoining county. This light is perfect what else could one expect from Streamlight? The light toggles on initially to low mode (output: 3.6 lumens); two toggles bumps output to medium (10 lumens); three toggles provides high output (50 lumens). Output is locked at the selected mode with a hard click. Low mode is perfect for pupil exams without unintentionally flooding both pupils. Medium and high provide more than adequate light in the field.

The C4 LED has a centered hotspot which grows more pronounced with increased output. Two tertiary zones of light exist at 33% and 66% of the light's output. Throw is less than similar lights with higher outputs. If possible, this would be an excellent companion light to a larger, more general purpose model.

Though this flashlight has crown and tail cap crenelations (and Streamlight's legendary construction), I'd hesitate to use this flashlight in any kind of striking maneuver. Its small size disappears into the hand doubly so when wearing fire or rescue gloves. Further, the light itself weighs very little, even when the single AA is installed (Streamlight's fact sheet states 2.3 oz).

The included ballistic nylon holster does not fully enclose the light; gaps of approximately .75" at the bottom of the holster and 1.00" at the top expose the light on both sides. The hook-and-loop flap securely binds; the belt loop is a full 2.5" long and .75" wide; it too has hook-and-loop material, enabling it to fit wider belts without complication.

All in all, a fantastic item for anyone in the field.

i like this lightit starts on the lowest setting, which is usually just what I need to see objects. This preserves battery life, and I like that. IT fits in my pocket, the clip has not let it slip out and get lost. It works, and seems study.

I prefer the AA size, though not as powerful as a C123, if the battery dies, I can easily find another in any store or even in our stations battery supply.

A very good light, and if you are not looking for a super powerful, this is the one.

I just love this light. It uses one AA battery, it fits in the palm of my hand, has 3 brightness settings and will last for 36 hours on the lowest setting. It is not as bright as my car headlights but on the brightest setting (still lasts 1 1/2 hours) I can see clearly across any room in my house or across my front yard at night.

This light works very well. Easy to operate. In a crunch situation when the chips are down you aren't fiddling around with trying to figure out how to get the beam strength you want. I would buy it again.
