I bought ten of these to replace the standard recessed MR-16's we have throughout the building I work in. So far, I have installed 4. They all have a great light output and side-by-side with a standard 12v 50w halogen are hard to distinguish. I only give the product 4 stars because of the lights I have installed so far, one had the LED's loose out of the can upon arrival (though still works fine), and another has a different light quality than it should (slightly cooler than the others). All in all, a good product.This was the only MR16 bulb in LED I've found that is shallow enough to fit in the fake rock light. Very bright, and has a nice halogen color to it. Very happy with it.

The unit came with a defective bulb. I called the service number and they assured me that I could find a new bulb at numerous local stores, but they would send me a new one. After searching for a week, I discovered that a xenon bulb with that base is available only on the internet. A week after Christmas, I got the bulb they sent. Unfortunately, the bulb is the wrong size base (way too big for the fixture), and I have no use for it.

the bulbs are right next to the switch, being that its under the cabinet, if you miss the switch. It's ugly, you burn your fingers. Also I purchase the NEW model, Xenon bulbs,they sent me the old model!!!!!!!! I recieved my Lava Color Phasing Vortex Lamp today & absolutely love it. I've owned Lava's battery-operated version for 3 years (and love it too). The new one is 4.5 inches taller than the battery-operated version, plugs in to house current (with the included adapter), and the motor runs constantly (to make the glitter swirl). The battery-operated version's motor cycles off & on (probably to extend the batterie's life). The unit has 6 LEDs (2 red, 2 blue, and 2 green). In the technical details, it states the unit "Generates soft, relaxing aquarium sound". My unit makes only a faint sound you would only notice in a silent room and within 6 ft. of it. Any other sound in the room would be louder than it (& mask the sound). I consider the unit's lack of noise a plus. The price has dropped twice since it was introduced. It's currently selling for only 37.5% of it's original price making it a steal. I checked wattage using my Kill a Watt Electricity Useage Monitor. It's so low, the meter can't detect (0 watts) the current used. The unit is always the same temperature as the room its in. There is nothing to make the unit run hot like older Lava Lamps using an incandescent (15 to 40 watt) bulb. Buy it you won't regret it.

This lamp is worth every penny. It's got a fantastic crystal sparkling effect and changes colors. The picture does not do it justice. It's the best glitter type lava lamp out there in my opinion. Awesome.5 stars.

I bought this as a gift for my niece, and almost want to keep it for myself. It's a fairly simple design, doesn't make much noise, and it looks great. Reviewers are right the picture doesn't do it justice. There are a few videos of it on YouTube, and Walmart's site. It has a load of glitter, and a ball or something in the bottom spins to create the "vortex" effect. The only sound is a little jingle (something like spinning a coin around in a glass bottle) that either stops or gets lower (after a while you don't notice any sound, and I don't think you're supposed to). But it looks WAY cooler in the dark...turn off the lights in the room, and the lamp creates a soothing water-like effect on the wall near the lamp. My niece loves it, and showed it off to her friends within minutes. It also makes a nice night light, since it doesn't get hot like a real lava lamp. It also feels VERY sturdy as well, so I'm sure it can take a fall or two without being ruined. Lava lite also makes miniature night light versions, which I'm planning to buy for my younger nephews. I noticed a few people saying this did not work. When I received mine it was not working either. I took the top off and looked at the motor. There were two small springs on two sides of the motor. I turned it on and the motor did move a bit. I looked at the springs and realized they were magnetic and could be taken off. Once I did that the motor ran fine. I wonder if they put the springs there for protection reasons? Since doing that the glitter lamp is great. I wish the LED lights changed a bit slower but it's very fun to watch and very pretty. So far I am pleased with the purchase but I wish instructions were included telling people to remove the springs on the motor. I bought this lamp on Cyber Monday along with another different glitter lamp because there was a one per household limit on this one. Well, I ended up purchasing another one of these at regular retail because the other one just could not compare. This lamp is fabulous.My favorite part about this lamp is that it stays cool to the touch, even after being on for extended periods of time (like overnight in my 3 year old's room). I don't have to worry about her touching it and getting burnt.
The colors are great and it lights up enough that there is faint swirling light on the walls all arouses the room when it's on. The colors do change at a fast pace but I don't find it distracting from sleep, annoying, or anything like that. I love it and so do both of my daughters, ages 3 and 6.
If you are looking to purchase this as a gift for a child in your life, this is a good choice. We are all very pleased! I'm thinking about getting one for myself as well!

I ordered this very item from ToolTopia.com a month ago. Their price was not the lowest (SJDiscount Tools has it for $156.92) but their warehouse was closer to my location and shipping was free.
The under hood light was for my husband, and it works very well. But the hangers that attach the light to the frame do not appear to be the same as in the photo, and are woefully inadequate. The hangers we received with it are extremely flimsy S-hooks and at any time the bulb falls out during hanging.
I contacted ToolTopia, and requested they locate the hangers shown in the photo, which appear much more secure. After some hemming and hawing, they didn't contact the manufacturer Central Lighting, but emailed me their phone number suggesting I remedy the problem myself. ToolTopia would not support the product they sold me and was uninterested in locating the missing parts. I do not recommend them!

This is an outstanding product; high quality engineering and manufacturing which is built for the professionals. In fairness, I have seen this product in action, so I was well aware of what I was getting.Again in fairness, I must respectfully address Ms Brewster's disappointing experience with her order. Without knowing the details, I suspect the vendor substituted a different product than was displayed and discussed in the ad.
Mine was purchased through El Dorado Sales and totaled $160.23 which included the shipping, and was exactly the one shown. Images of the product in use have been added. I hope Ms Brewster was able to resolve the product problem, as her husband will enjoy this light for many years.
I might also add that a mechanic friend of mine bought this exact tool for $224.00 at Clarke Tool about 3 years ago. is the best!

I'm what you would call a "shade tree mechanic" or "grease monkey". I've been working on cars for YEARS and one of the most annoying and troublesome problems I have is getting enough light where I need!!!! Drop lights are always either in the way, or falling, or just not at the right angle. This light really puts an end to all of that! Just hook it to your hood with the supplied hanger (which by the way is very very nice quality), and you have enough light to work anywhere in your engine bay! This thing put out enough light to allow me to work UNDER the car and not worry about toting a drop light with me. If I could give it 6 stars, I would. Highly recommended for anyone who details engines too! This is a great tool. Doesn't get hot provides a ton of even cool white light. A must have in every shop. Works great in the interior as you can attach it to the roof. The lighter socket adapter for my Garmin GPS came apart and I lost the fuse. These were supposed to be an exact match. (They arrived in an unmarked plastic bag which should have been a tip-off right there!) I installed one. Powered the unit on and it worked for an hour or so. Then it began to act strange. I touched the unit and if was warm. Near the cord input it was hot. So hot in fact, that the cord had melted into the main GPS unit--all without the inline fuse blowing! The unit has failed to power-up since then. The unit was less than a year old and in very good condition. There are no other shorts in the cord or unit. Connections were clean & stable and another device (cell phone) plugged into the adjacent cig lighter receptacle was unaffected. Don't buy from them,

I do not believe that the light coming from this bulb is as bright as the light coming from a standard incandescent candelabra bulb. Even if it was as bright, the opaque base of the bulb ensures that significantly less light is emitted from it anyway. With these bulbs, my fixture produces about half the light as with the old bulbs. I ordered one of these GE fixtures hoping it would at least solve my battery use problem. The installation instructions were clear and concise, and the light was very easy to put up. When I turned it on, it was "instant" light with no flicker. It reached full brightness (equivalent, I'd say, to a 60 watt incandescent bulb) in about a minute and there was no annoying hum. The very next thing I did was order a second one from Amazon. Now, with two "linked" so that I use just the one plug (but they turn on/off independently), my entire dark corner is no more. I now use my main overhead less often (160 watts of fluorescent tubes) and leave these on (total: 30 watts) and save money on my electric bill which, over time, will cover the cost of these fixtures. In this instance, I got to have my cake and eat it, too!
For reasons of economy and in the hope that I would get more and better lighting coverage, I decided to try this light. I wanted sturdy construction, minimum profile, instant-on function and a light that would illuminate my entire 20x20 cutting board and not just a portion of it. With a full metal housing, this fixture does it all. I get a bright and steady light perfect for my needs. As the light is linkable, I will be buying another 3 to surround my entire sink area.

The corner area of my kitchen counter near my sink was poorly lit by our overhead lighting and it's where I keep and use my 3" butcher-block style cutting board (at 30 pounds, it doesn't want to move easily). To make matters even worse, my body blocks the overhead lighting when I use the cutting board, which is almost daily. I have grown fond of my fingertips, and my kitchen lighting put my board in my body's shadow making it difficult to see well what I was cutting.
