I purchase this item to illuminate my 300 ft driveway at night. To start, the left side of the hinges was broken when it arrived. This was fixed after a little do-it-yourself repair. After installation on a 30 ft eaves, it supposed to be able to reach up to 300 ft, but after about 150 ft I can hardly see the illumination and the visible area of the illumination is only around 8 ft diameter. Finally, I just left it to point at around 150 ft, at least I can still see something.

This unit works ok just has a narrow beam instead of a wide spread like most have for its other models.

This unit works Great. Once you aim it, you can forget it. The infrared light is invisible to the eye but my camera now sees great in the dark. Since it turns on automatically it requires no supervision. I now get clear images of intruders who mistakenly think its too dark to be seen. I'll be ordering more of these illuminator units for my other cameras that need help seeing in the dark. Thanks Much...John H.

I have this IR illuminator to support my Sony IR surveillance cameras at night. I bought two of them; one is for front yard, the other is for my backyard. The IR illuminator works excellent but with a very narrow light beam instead of a wide spread flood light. It works superb if you need night vision for your security cameras at a distance. Despite the visible red dots to the human eyes because this product emits IR wave length 850nm, overall it is an excellent product for such a reasonable price. I installed those boxes about 20 feet above the ground and they work great; the spot light lights up where I need it. Looking through the monitor that hooked up to the IR camera, my yards are all lit up, but when you physically take a peek at the yards, it is all dark. The only drawback is that the twin power transistors inside these IR illuminators are too hot to touch when the units are operating. I am afraid they might burn out someday if not with a heat sink or computer mini fan.

Product performed as promised. At first I thought product was defective but it has a daytime sensor to keep it off during daylight. Works exceptionally well if you want night vision for your security cameras. Have not tried the 12V adapter, though you would have to cut the 120v feed to attach and use 12V DC
