the bulb is pricey but will last a LONG time so it will pay for itself !!
if your light-fixture needs/uses this type of bulb --get this dimmable-version and then change out your light switch, for a dimmer. You won't be sorry !!

These bulbs are very difficult to find in my local stores. In fact the light fixture that I purchased listed this bulb as being included but the bulb in the box was non-dimmable. When the power is first turned on at full brightness the bulb comes on not so bright. It takes a few seconds to reach full brightness and the dimmer will reduce it then by about 40%, my estimate.Best Deals for Halco 46548 - CFL23/27/GU24/DIM Dimmable Twist and Lock Base
This is the first time I've seen anything like this. The bulb lasted less than a month before something melted inside of it, leaving a black tipped blister on the side of the plastic, and a black mark on the frosted lamp cover. Used in brand new dual 23w gu24 light fixture. Best to avoid until company addresses quality control issues.Honest reviews on Halco 46548 - CFL23/27/GU24/DIM Dimmable Twist and Lock Base
I replaced some non-dimmable bulbs with these, and they take a full second to turn on (brand new) and emit a faint buzz. I haven't changed the switch to a slider yet, so this is at full power. In another lamp fixture, I replaced ordinary screw lightbulbs with different dimmable bulbs (screw socket), and those work just fine. Instant on, no buzz. So, this can't be true for all dimmable CFL bulbs.
