I started using Ott Lites when I began knitting and decided that I really didn't need to match colors. Since the tube colors all colors of the spectrum I decided to use the light and bulb at work for plants that needed to overwinter indoors. They're long-lasting and work like a charm. I currently have a Christmas cactus that's in bloom and other plants that are doing very well. .

The first one came broken but was easily and quickly replaced.

The only "con"s are that, because the bulb contains mercury, it CANNOT go out with the household trash and needs to be taken to a place that collects mercury bulbs. I also could not find the 24W replacement tube anywhere except online. Amazon has the best price and I recommend buying from here and skipping the other sites (unless you want to spend the time looking. Who knows, you may get lucky.).

Otherwise, I highly recommend them.

This was the first time I had replaced the VERY long lasting bulb in my OTT-LITE and I frankly had expected to return two or three bulbs before I got the right one. The whole shopping experience fooled me as it was quite easy and simple considering how many different OTT-LITES there are on the market. I was able to select the right bulb and put it in with such ease that it really surprised me. Don't think I could live without my OTT-LITE and I truly missed it while it wasn't working.

My wife enjoys cross-stitching. Her OttLite Lamp has been with her for years. Every 3 years a new bulb is needed but finding one is difficult. Thank goodness, we found one on Amazon.

Considering that this cost about half as much more anywhere else it's a great value. We will have to see if it last as long as the original.
