The thumbscrews on the side increase or decrease resistance to swivel they work well, but are plastic so I am not sure about their long-term durability.
I also do not like the on/off switch it's one of those "rotating wheel box in the middle of the cord" things, and I prefer a simple back-forth switch box.
That said, the lamp is overall fairly good, if very simple (basically it's a metal can with a fixture in it on a swivel base). Don't expect any extra features and you'll be happy. It looks good how I have it on top of some high shelving as spot lighting.
There is also a spot on the bottom of the base for a screw head so you can wall mount it, but I have not used this feature so cannot comment on it.
UPDATE Oct. 2011:
These lights are still running strong. I have them with 60W-equivalent CFLs (~13W actual draw) and they have had no issues. I have paired these with a Belkin Conserve Power Switch, which allows me to switch them both on and off remotely at the same time, nullifying the earlier mentioned issue with these lights' switches.

Not much to review here...this little light does everything I wanted it to do. We recently re-modelled our bedroom, and were wanting one of those cool "uplight" effects to wash a corner of the room, and to accentuate the silhouette of some of the decorating accessories. This little light does exactly that. No frills...it's heavy enough to stay put (not a lightweight piece of junk). It does not overheat...the outsides of the canister stay plenty cool to the touch. The pivot joint is nice and tight...it stays where you point it. Love it. Not expensive, and performs exactly as I wanted! I plan on getting a couple more...the effects of uplighting are dramatic and they will quickly change a mundane room into an eye-popping luxurious-appearing space. Try it and see. When you watch home decorating shows on HGTV, pay attention...when the final "reveals" are filmed, the potted plants, accessories, statues, etc...they almost always have these cool uplights behind them. I ordered one of these lights a month back to be an accent light on the floor behind a decorative urn and the light has been fantastic. The company packaged the shipment great, and it came very quickly after ordering and I requested standard shipping. I wasn't sure about the power cord that would be on the light since you can not see the cord in the image. I haven't measured the cord but it is plenty long and about 12" from the light on the cord is a switch if you need one. My plants look glorious with this light at the base of my fern stand. The light is bright and directed, the holder unobtrusive, the quality is great. Keep up the great work in producing product that give satisfaction
