Recently purchased this bulb. It is painted orange, not made of orange glass. Recommend any owner be very careful not to scratch the surface. Once scratched, the paint chips off like cheap old nail polish, exposing bits of the regular light bulb underneath.

I bought this for my reading light on my nightstand to try to minimize blue light before going to sleep.

It creates a warm glow, I definitely don't recommend it for anything except where you want a dim, warm glow. If sunlight is coming through the window, you can barely tell the thing is on, but if you want it for nighttime reading, it is a great replacement for a candle.

This is it! I wouldn't do a whole room, but a corner (here and there)...so inviting without being too "Halloweeny-looking" Don't try reading by this bulb as it's truly an accent in a room only. Smart buy, though.

I would give it one star, but really it's my fault for assuming this bulb would give the room a nice warm glow as opposed to a harsh white bulb. I wouldn't even write a review, but I think those of you expecting an orange light should know that it looks way more red than orange. My boyfriend came over the night I tried the bulb and said he felt like he was visiting the red light district.
