I've installed over 100 of these throughout my house, inside and outside, in both the daylight and warm white versions. The warm white is much more yellow than the daylight, but both have a more sterile look than incandescent MR16 bulbs. It looks like a flourescent tube light with a yellow filter over it. I definitely prefer the warm white although it is does not produce as much light as the daylight version.

I have dealt directly with the U.S. distributor (Optima) and they are not a very professional organization goofed up my order, overbilled me, didn't return phone calls, etc. However I've also bought from BulbAmerica and they were okay no problems.

My primary complaint is that these things flicker like crazy if you have an electronic transformer which is almost universal these days. Some more, some less, for some reason but they can send you into an epileptic seizure. I had to change several of my low-voltage transformers to larger and more expensive magnetic transformers in order to fix the problem. The typical electronic ones that are about the size of a 9-volt battery (and inexpensive) work fine with a regular MR16 but cause the LED version to flicker.

Interestingly, although every brand of 5W LED MR16 that I have tried will flicker with an electronic transformer, I have used 3W MR16 LED bulbs from another company (OptiLED) and they do not flicker. But they are not nearly as bright, either, and cost more.

If you're looking at different options, I have also used a lot of the CFL MR16 bulbs, before they came out with an LED version, and they are cheaper but not nearly as bright, and they take a while to come up to full brightness.

I replaced a 35watt incandescent MR-16 bulb with this bulb and I'm loving it. The light is a little less yellow and more white that then bulb I replaced. Nice, not harsh at all.

These lights are good 35W MR16 replacements with perfect warm white color. They are very slightly less powerful light than a standard 35W halogen and the angle is very slightly less. This may not be a problem for you depending on how far away your target is. We use them as general lighting in our kitchen (track lighting) and have an 8 foot ceiling...just far enough that one can notice that these bulbs are not quite as powerful or as wide angle as a standard 35W halogen, but still very, very useable. These bulbs also lack good side-to-side and backlighting that can highlight the glass fixtures they are mounted in. Note also, that they do get quite hot to the touch. You'll need a glove or cloth to remove them. For now, I'll live with these limitations in the hopes that as the technology evolves and people make their needs known, manufacturers will gradually produce LEDs that are truly the equal of a full 50W warm white WIDE angle flood MR16 halogen. Fingers crossed that won't be too long to wait!

Update August 2012: 2.5 years later, these bulbs are still going strong. I see other reviewers had failures not long after purchase, but mine seem to be running just fine. We use them hard with frequent on-off cycles in our kitchen--kids in and out all day long. No complaints.

Honest reviews on Platinum 6W LED MR16 Dimmable 45 Warm White Lamp

Excellent brightness when used on full power. Color acceptably warm. However, when dimmed the color becomes very pale/greenish and light flickers. If you're thinking of buying this for use with a dimmer, don't. Considering that was the main reason I bought it, it gets 2 stars.

I really like this bulb, it gives off great light, I use it a statue in my landscaping lighting. The only problem, the light is a tad 'long' and really need to squeeze the cover on to close it, be careful not to break it. Otherwise, a great product. Am trying to convert to LED's, a tad pricey.
