I bought one of these in December and it lasted just over 3 months. A friend of mine has tried several different styles of fluorescent nightlights and none have lasted very well. The ballast for the fluorescent tube is a very simple circuit that is cheaply made. I thought this one looked cool so I ended up converting it to LED, but for the average person I cannot recommend them. LED nightlights are more efficient and longer lived.Best Deals for GE 56654 Fluorescent Night Light, White
I have not had the reliability problems mentioned in another review. The light lasts somewhat beyond a year or up to two (I have bought these going back five years), but you do have to buy a replacement unit since the lamp is not replaceable. This is a fluorescent bulb. You can extend the life of the unit by turning it off during the day. This is not a typical dim night light (but it is not a flood lamp either). It is the brightest *night* light I have used, and now is called a 'plug in light' (sans night) on the package. This is exactly what I needed. I use it in the kitchen and the bathroom to provide sufficient light without turning on housing light. I think it would not work in a bedroom as it would be too bright.
Update:
One of four of these stopped working within 90 days.
Update:
Three have failed within 120 days. This is not worth it. 1 star.
