I needed a remote-control for a reading lamp in my bedroom, which plugs into an outlet connected to the bedroom's wall switch. The first thing I tried was one of those "remote controlled dimmer" wall switch replacements. This worked okay, but apparently if someone unplugs your lamp and plugs in something like a vacuum cleaner, you can fry it. I fried two before I gave up on this method.
I needed something that was actually part of the lamp, not part of the outlet circuit, and it took some time to find this one. I've only had it a short time, so I can't speak to its durability yet, but it works quite well so far. The remote that comes with it is set up to run two different lamps if you buy another lamp module. Unlike the wall module, that used infrared or something and had to be able to "see" the remote, this one is radio operated and will work whereever the remote is.

Great product. The remote actually runs 2 devices with just the one remote. You should pick up two of these to get the best use of the remote. The dimming feature works great. I didnt know it could dim but I am glad it does. Enjoy, happy with purchase.Best Deals for Heath/Zenith WC-6025-WH Transmitter and Receiver Remote Controlled
Just what I was looking for and it works like a charm. It lights up the crawl space under my house BEFORE I venture down. Don't you just love technology?Honest reviews on Heath/Zenith WC-6025-WH Transmitter and Receiver Remote Controlled
I first bought two Carlon HW2162 fixtures because ideally I wanted to mount the switch on the wall. These would have been great if they actually worked. After setting the appropriate jumpers, one of the units didn't work at all. The "working" unit required me to press the On switch at least 10 times before the light would turn on. This wasn't going to work for me, so I returned both units to Amazon and purchased the Heath/Zenith WC-6025-WH.Installation was a lot easier since the jumpers are much easier to access. One remote controls both lights perfectly, on the first try, EVERY TIME. And the dimming feature is just an added bonus. I think I am going to mount one of the remotes to the wall using sticky tape so I never misplace it. Highly recommended.
