I read all the reviews on here before I purchased this, and they were very helpful in making the choice of this cap. I wanted to use it to light the single post at the end of our driveway, because driving home on a winter's night it is nearly impossible to see the entrance.

It did appear to be bright enough for my needs, but what they don't tell you in the description is that you are not supposed to use this during winter months. It says in the instructions to remove it during the winter, meaning I have no use for this at all. This probably does not affect those who are using it on a deck or fence, but I think it's a total waste to have something you can't leave out there year-round.

Other comments: The plastic housing is really cheap. The solar panel was cracked when it arrived, although it did not appear to be a result of shipping. It does not mount permanently to the post, could be easily knocked off (or stolen in my case). Once you pull that tag that reveals the batteries, you cannot turn the light off. Even if I had decided to keep it and install in the spring, I would have had to take out the batteries to turn it off until then. Screws are difficult to unscrew because of placement and the cheapness of the plastic they screw into. I imagine that if you took this apart more than a few times, you would not be able to tighten the screws at all.

I am disappointed! I really wanted this to work.

The only good thing is that it did arrive quickly, even though I did use Free shipping.

This is a very bright unit, brighter than most units. Included adapters do allow it to fit over most standard posts, but it slides off too easily.

I put two of these solar post top lights at the beginning of a newly refurbished composite covered deck tied to my barn. It is barn red and white, the deck is grey and the railings are white. The lights work really well for seeing the step up in the dark and the glow they provide washes over more of the deck showing off the improvements. They last most of the night though on cloudy days they have a shorter life; but they do always make it through the evening. I saw one similar to this on the cap of a stair rail and really liked what it did. I compared what was available in the big box stores and these are better looking, better built and half the price. They also come with post adaptors for the different size posts used which, in my case, was real valuable. If I find another application I will get more of these.

Honest reviews on Pine Top 511-0007 4-Light LED Solar-Powered Plastic Fence-Post Cap

Ive had these for about 4 years and I love the way they look. I cant find anything I like better. The only disappointment is that there is some corrosion in the circuit board that shortens the useful life. However, Im on the coast of California in salty air so these things happen to the best of them.

Some of the reviews talk about concerns with mounting them, that they might fall off, or concerns about screwing them into the fense post.

Easy solution: run a thin bid of clear silicon around the bottom. Its invisible, keeps them from falling off, and helps seal them from the weather somewhat. Run a blade around the silicon if you need to pull them to change batteries.

I just ordered some more of these.

I have had about 10 of them on my fence for over 2 years now, and all of them still work wonderfully.

I had some other brand/style ones elsewhere and they died inside of 6 months.

You will also see the same units under the Galaxy name.

They are surprisingly bright, and mine still run all night.

I read commentary about no permanent mount. If you ever need to change the battery, that would not be a good idea. But there is nothing stopping you from running a screw though the base into your post to stop the grab-n-dash thieves. Nobody has messed with mine.

FYI: "HERE" was the best price I found thank you Amazon!
