I have used these for years to recreate the illusion of real burning candles without the concerns of actual fire. Theaters use these because of the convincing look. These are for decorative use only, the light output is identical to a flame, and as such, is unsuitable for serious illumination, but that is why you are here anyway. The "candle" portion has a unique mechanism to wobble the "flame" every few seconds to convincingly simulate the effect a slight draft has on an actual flame. These last for years and consume very little energy. Simple to install, just remove old socket sleeve, screw unit into your socket, slide new longer sleeve over, and adjust size with an exacto knife or box cutter as needed. I know they are a bit pricey, but the look is remarkable, you'll see.
