When I go this radio I was in love! It was amazing. You could charge it several ways: Solar, from an internal rechargeable battery pack, you could plug it in the wall if you had power and were in doors, or you could use 3AA batteries, lacking any of that or having cloudy weather, you could use the sturdy hand crank.

It has several great features: a flash light, a desk light, a siren, an emergency red flashing light, a thermometer, mw-fm, TV1/TV2, and short-wave band. What more could you ask for besides, well except way to actually charge a cell phone as promised. Also, the directions are terrible translations from another language, and only one page long, and no where does it actually tell you how to charge a cell phone. This started as a 4 star review, then I remembered that I have written two letters asking for directions on how to charge a cell phone. I got one reply: use the right adapter, well, uh, DUH. Of course I already tried that and if they had actually read my letter, they would have known that. I wrote again, no answer, hence, one more star gone.

I am still debating whether to keep it or not. I doubt you could get another radio with all the WORKING features for only a total of $30 and even though it was not 'prime', it came very promptly. I still would like to get my question answered by the company about charging the cell phone or find out if that one feature not working is jusst a fluke. if they contact me, and it works or they send me a radio that actually charges cell phones, I will gladly upgrade to 4 stars , maybe 5 if it was a misunderstanding as opposed to a broken feature. I bought this radio as part of my Bug-Out Bag survival kit. It is cheaply made Chinese junk, but it works as advertised. I like the alternate energy choices to power the radio in case I can get batteries when the SHTF. I hope I never have to use it!

I bought this for a bug out kit. it looked like it would be useful especially the ability to charge a cell phone in an emergency.

They sent various adapters for very old phones However the only USB plug they sent was a mini B USB adapter. Almost all new phones and most smart phones use a micro USB plug not a mini. So make sure you know what you need for your phone before you buy this, or you will be out of luck when you need it most.

The battery doesn't last long, and the radio barely comes in, even with the antenna fully raised. The unit feels cheap and the plastic is thin so I don't know how much abuse it can withstand on an outdoor trip. There is something loose and rattling around inside the radio that worries me a bit but it is not affecting the performance right now. Hopefully you won't need the instructions because they are in poor english. If I had it to do over again I would pay more for the Eton brand radio. You get what you pay for.

I tried this product and everything seemed to be working properly. The directions were clear. I would say that it is heavy and would be not useful for camping etc.which is why I gave it only 4 stars instead. But I keep it next to my night stand,so that is not a problem

Pros: you can make your own power anywhere anytime. And power a multitude of devices with the included tips.

Cons: There is no storage compartment or equivalent on this thing to store all your tips. I keep mine on my boat, but already managed to misplace the tips several times. Every time i actually needed this device the tips were missing. If your gonna buy this (and you should) you should find a way to tie a bag with the tips to the device.
