I ordered this on Sept. 19 and received it on Oct. 2, which was 14 days ahead of schedule. Considering the price of the unit, one needs to keep in mind that you get what you pay for. If all you care about is a very bright light then this unit will suffice for camping, hiking, or just working on your car. However, if you're planning to expose the unit to harsh conditions like rain or snow, you might want to think about looking elsewhere.

The light is bright, but nowhere near the 500 lumen as advertized. However, for the price what can you expect. As a budget light it does its job. It has three modes: high, low, and strobe. These functions are easily employed by clicking the single chrome button on top of the lamp unit. The zoom operation works by sliding the lens forward or back. Forward is focused mode and backward is flood mode. The convex magnified lens is plastic. Since it protrudes out farther than the aluminum bezel, I'm going have to be wary of scratching it. There is an O ring inside the light, but no rubber to waterproof the lens to the aluminum housing. Therefore, don't count on the light to be water resistant.

The unit is comfortable to wear. The strap can be adjusted (or, will be adjustable when I fix the bad stitching) to fit any size head. However, I have a small size head and the unit seems like an ideal fit. The stitching on the strap is way below par. On the right side strap the wrong side was stitched so that I couldn't adjust the strap. With a little needle and thread work it will be a quick and easy fix. The stitching on the other sides looks like it'll tear apart soon. I will have to restitch that as well.

The battery casing is made of a thin but hard plastic--or should I say brittle-looking. If you plan to climb with this light, be careful not to bang the compartment as it'll probably crack easily. I had to pry open the battery compartment in order to open it. Don't count on the battery case to be water resistant.

The unit uses three AAA batteries, which I like, but are not included. There is a DC port to connect to an adapter which is not included. I may end up purchasing a set of rechargeable lithium batteries along with a DC adapter.
