I have not had time to test the battery life, but it ran for 45 minutes with a mix of about half on dim and half on full brightness. This test was on a short mtb ride. I did notice that output dimmed about 35 minutes into the ride but I don't know if this was due to overheating protection or if the battery was on the verge of dying. I plan on putting a battery pack together with a little more depth (the extra weight will be on my rack bag so not a big problem. Can't use this light on bright in town cars were continually flashing me with their high beams. VERY wide pattern and a lot of reach to the light. With a decent battery pack, I can't imagine needing more light, I was riding up to 20mph off road and never had any issues with seeing where I needed to go. For the price, you can hardly go wrong.
