* 300 Lumens is not equivalent to 300 watts

* 300 lumens is roughly 40 watts

* Watts cannot be converted to lumens as watts is a value of energy used & lumens is a value of brightness. A standard 60 watt light is in the range of 700 800 lumens

* LEDs are spot lights, the light focus is narrow & radiates in 1 direction, which is why many comments about LEDs make mention of this. LEDs are brighter than other bulbs of the same lumens ratings since there is no light loss

* All other bulb types are floods as the light radiates in all directions. 'Spot' lights just use reflective surfaces inside of the bulb to redirect the scattered light out of the front of the bulb, creating a narrower beam

* Choose LED products that state the brightness in lumens rather than meaningless values like, 'super bright'

I bought this based on the description that it is equivalent to a 300 watt work light. When I plugged it in I was disappointed at how dim it was. It does have a nice cool white color, but for my needs it is nothing like my bright 300 watt halogen. The box states it is compared to a 175 watt. Even that is not even close. Maybe a 75 watt, no more.

I did quite a bit of research on work lights to use in my workshop and kept coming back to this one. While the reviews I read about it were not enough to make me want to go out and buy it immediately, I kept it on my wish list while I continued my search. After looking at all kinds of lighting options, I decided that this light was what I needed. I can tell you that I was not mistaken!! The light works great, is very portable, provides more than adequate lighting for the projects I am working on, and the price is very good in comparison with other LED task lighting. Halogen lighting might have been a little cheaper, but I did NOT want to put up with the heat that comes off of halogen lighting...it gets hot enough in my garage workshop without adding more heat!! I would recommend this light to anyone. I would also like to have this same light in a two-headed configuration on a stand like I see a lot of halogen setups, but I would also like to see that offered at a reasonable price......hope your listening Designers Edge!! :-)

Honest reviews on Designers Edge L1306 108-LED Portable Bright LED Workshop Lighting

I really like this light for the money. I do wish it were a little brighter, but it is pretty good for what I do. Only complaint... or should I say, suggestion, is I wish the cord were 2 feet longer. I plan on doing this myself and adding an outlet attached to the base for my soldering irons, radio, chargers, etc.

Good product.

This light is not bright. It looks bright because it uses LED's. 300 lumins is like a 30watt incandescent bulb and that is it. Don't expect to get a 300Watt flood. Nice thing is no heat from light. It's good in tight places where some ambient light is also available.
