This is by far the warmest, brightest, and most omnidirectional of the bunch.
If you buy LED bulbs to replace your standard ones, you know that these three qualities are very hard to find in this market.
Expensive as it may be, this one simply blows anything else I've tried away.
The one exception to what I've said in this review is that there are a few "floodlight" style bulbs that are brighter than this one, but not in a pleasant warm color like this, not omnidirectional like this one and none of them that I have seen fit into standard inexpensive lamp housings.
I haven't even tried out the dimming feature, as this is one of very few LED bulbs to offer the ability to use a dimmer switch.
I haven't heard any humming or noise of any kind, even with my ear pressed against the bulb (yes you can do that, it's that cool and efficient) but I can't speak to the possibility that it might make some noise while being dimmed. Most dimmable bulbs do make some noise when being dimmed, and I'm referring here to both compact florescent bulbs and the old hot burning incandescent bulbs, although often the "noise" can only be heard when it is picked up as buzzing or humming RF radio signals on amplified speakers plugged into the same circuit.
Yes I love this LED bulb, and no, I have nothing to do with this company, hopefully they are not too evil, because this is a pretty effusive review, but I've spent too much money on LED bulbs that are too dim, too cold looking, or too unidirectional to be useful for everyday household applications. They make great close up worklights and flashlights but most are not great roomlights or even lamplights. This one is just that.
It's the bulb to buy if you want to demonstrate to an LED sceptic that LED's don't just get you 90% or greater savings in electricity use and even more in durability, but that LED bulbs can replace incandescents and compact florescent bulbs achieving similar quality bright, warm, omnidirectional, pleasant and natural looking light, using their existing lamps and fixtures.

I'm using this bulb to replace one out of 5 incandescents in the light fixture in our breakfast area. On full, this bulb is identical in brightness and color to the 60 watt incandescent bulb across from it.When dimmed, there is a humming noise, not loud but noticable. I don't know if this happens with all dimmers or not. Also when dimming, the color is not the same as other incandescents, but it is acceptable. Yes, the base is warm, but not nearly as hot as an incandescents.
This is the best LED bulb I have seen so far.
The only reason I rated it a "4" was due to the humming noise at some (but not all) dimming positions.

These are a wast of money if you want to use them with a dimmer. I have a Insteon System and these lights won't come on till 30% power and then they come on at 30% light, between 50% and 80% the light makes a very loud buzzing. I bought five of them and they all act exactly the same. I have moved them to light fixtures that are switched not dimmed. The bulb has not performed well after a year of use]. The price point of these bulbs and the decent amount of light that comes our of them was pretty exciting.
While six months is long from the payback period needed in terms of lower usage cost and bulb longevity, here's how they've performed so far, after six months [or after a year if in brackets].
They dim well. At first, it was great performance, now there is a slight buzz when dimmed upward to less than about 60% of power. [After a year, the buzzing has increased noticeably and now the lights flicker and blink if dimmed below 60% power.] What that means is they are not as likely to buzz if they are turned 100% ON, then dimmed down to 35% [75%], but they are likely to buzz if raised from OFF directly to 35%. [They now buzz if dimmed down from 100% to less than 60%]
I placed two of these into an eight bulb chandelier with six, standard incandescent bulb that are 60W. They are not as bright as 60W incandescents, but they are brighter than 40W incandescents. What is most noticeable is that they are much more green and give a greener light than the warmer incandescents. Everyone notices that the two end bulbs are different. Everyone. [I had to remove these because they were flickering and blinking.]
This is not a bad bulb and would be good for the right application, but it's too green for living areas that normally enjoy warm halogen or incandescent light.

I ordered this bulb because the other reviewers stated it was bright, but I did not find it to be as bright as expected. I am using it in a lamp not an overhead fixture and according to the box this reduces the brightness to approximately 40 watts. Also, it is too "warm" a light for me. If you are expecting the equivalent of a 40 (lamp) to 60 (overhead) WARM light then order this bulb. I think I just prefer cooler or daylight bulbs.
