After reading all the dissatisfied reviews, I had to let you know my experience. When I notice that a lantern won't light or that they seem dimmer than normal, I go out with a clean, damp rag and clean the solar cell! They become dusty/dirty over time and need this. If I remember, I just hose them off when watering my flowers, and this prevents the need to clean them off.
I did notice the stakes are a little wimpy, but just use care when moving them.

I've had 4 of these lights out by my pathway all summer.
3 work and 1 does not work consistently.
I noticed if I fiddle with the top and thump on the battery compartment sometimes
it will turn on. Must be a bad connection in there.
I'd like to remind folks that these are *solar* lights. They must be in
direct sun all day, or they won't work at night. (seems obvious, but these lights
are sensitive) If they see shade at all during the day, they need to be re-located to total sun.
The lantern part is glass and the pole part is a cheap metal but everything else is plastic.
The stake part that goes in the ground is plastic. So far, one of my stakes is missing a tip.
The light emitted from these is exactly what I'd been searching for. It's a warm orange/amber glow.
It's not very bright, but I just wanted accent lights, not a runway. So many solar lights are that sickly
blue/green LED light, but these are great.
Mine do not stay on all night, probably because they are not getting enough sun. I'm ok with that.
I would recommend them if you want a warm accent light for the yard and have a sunny space to place them.

They discourage me in regards the reliability of other solar powered lights. I have had the exact same problems as the other two reviews had, but I also was not very happy at the fact that when they did stay lit they didn't light up brightly. I am thinking about buying some different lights, but I think I will do some serious inquiring beforehand, and buy maybe only one to see how they work before I get any others in that brand. These things are too expensive to not work good....if they work well then the "expensiveness" becomes not so expensive and worth the price.

I received these lights in June for a Wedding gift and they worked great! They would stay on almost all night long for about two months. However, now they go out within an hour after being on? These lights look pretty, but don't light-up but for only an hour or so.
