Pros:

Saves electricity.

Brightness is not an issue when replacing 50 watt halogen light bulb. Might be a shade dimmer.

Cons:

1) The color is a nasty bright white like the "old fluorescent" light bulbs, everything looks cheap. I have this side by side with other halogen bulbs on my track and there is a very noticeable difference.

2) The bulb is a good 1 inch taller than normal bulbs so now it sticks out by 1 inch from my track lights.

Summary:

Get this if you dont care about aesthetics and only want to save electricity.

To be extremely honest, I don't believe the 5 star reviewer, I think they may just work for the reseller padding their own reputation. you will be very disappointed if you think this bulb can replace your halogen bulb and reproduce good light, not to mention it doesnt even fit properly. The price started off a hair below 10 bucks, I guess people are actually buying it because the price is going up by 50 cents a week by the time I am writing this review.

Since it's winter, the halogen bulbs should not be an issue, the extra heat from the bulbs should keep you warm as needed. I would recommend waiting for the summer or simply next year for when LED bulb technology gets better.

I replaced a standard 60W incandescent bulb in our exterior can lights with this LED one (using a special socket converter from e27 to gu10). This bulb is definitely brighter than the 60W incandescent. How much brighter? Well it seems at least 50% brighter by eyeballing it. The can light only disperses light downwards, so such an LED was ideally suited (most of the light emitted by the incandescent was lost to the can which surrounds it). So it may be hard to compare the two as apples to apples, but inside can lights, or I am sure, recessed lights, this LED is much brighter. The color seems fine, especially for the outdoors, but I don't really care much about outdoor light color so long as it gets the job done and it does. One tenth the power consumption, 50% brighter.

2 of the 3 of these bulbs that I bought burned out within the first year. They're a little cheaper than other brands but don't last. They look ok when working but I have several Phillips bulbs of the same type that are brighter and still working.

2 of the bulbs didn't make it to 2 years. They flicker for a few weeks then just die. I'm a handy person, wiggling the base in the connector doesn't help. Hitting them doesn't help (somewhat caveman like but yes this is often the fix for electronics).

The light is kind of ugly, it's like they have two different elements inside, a blue light and a yellow light and they are suppose to mix together to produce a warm light and it just doesn't work. Great for saving money, bad for being a nice light.

Ordered these for replacement of halogen bulbs in a ceiling fan.

They are working great, light is a little more blue-ish than expected for a warm light

but they come on instantly and do not get hot like the old halogen bulbs did
