Haven't installed this yet but looking at it I believe it requires it's own 12v power source. I plan to use it with led strip lights which will be cut into several sections with 4-6 feet of wire between each. Adding the wire will lower the power at the last sections so I believe this amp will go inline to make up for the loss.
