We had a broken light bulb in a ceiling fan and my husband was convinced we were going to have to hire someone to come remove the bulb. I took a chance on this product, and it was worth every cent. Much cheaper than the alternative.

Having been in the lighting maintenance field for over 21 years, this tool I can count on to remove the bases of broken lamps EASILY! Any tech that has used needlenose pliers to remove a base can tell you how much time it takes to remove a base....usually in small pieces, not to mention the chance of damaging the socket if you grab the wrong piece. Just turn off the power, break off the glass stem, insert the tool and twist out the bad base.

I originally gave this a bad review becuase I couldn't get it to work. Took a deep breath, counted to 10 and tried again. It worked! YAY!

Honest reviews on Unger #92133 Broken Light Bulb Changer

Just what I needed. Tried a different one and it didn't work and this one did. The other brand I tried didn't hold the bulb.

This product effectively loosened the broken off bulb and I was able to get it out easily with needle-nose pliers. The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is that it lost it's ability to grab the bulb remnant once it was loosened. But I did not succeed with the pliers until after using this, so those two tools will be my go-to for getting broken bulbs out in the future. The 2-step process worked well.

I have a set of these mounting brackets bolted to my garage workbench and can always count on finding my Maglite flashlight just where I left it safe and secure. The plastic seems a bit fragile, but in the two years that I have used them, I have never had a failure. The flashlight securely snaps into place and is not in danger of falling out.

If I were to do it again, I'd buy a set of these in a minute. It functions well and does the job for which it was intended.

I have used these before, but the price here was great. Mag has figured just the right tension on the clips to hold the flashlight secure, yet make it easy to grab often. I have used these for several years. I have tried others, but these are the best.

Best Deals for MAGLITE ASXD026 D-Cell Flashlight Mounting Bracket

The price at Amazon makes it a no-brainer purchase to go along with your Maglite. I've installed three of these around the house. After six months of active use, I have not observed any signs of cracking or yielding in the plastic.

A few reviewers have mentioned that they have managed to break a few of these, and this might be caused by improper installation. It is imperative that, when using two clips for a flashlight, that they are perfectly aligned. If they are out of line by even a few millimeters they will require much more force to place and remove the flashlight. Alternatively, using just one clip for at least the 3 cell lights seems to work just fine as well.

Overall, I am satisfied with this product and consider it to be a good value at the advertised price.

Holds my maglite very securely in my Jeep, takes a bit of strength to get it out but I'd rather have it tight than loose. So far haven't experienced any problems and I've had it holding for a couple of months now.

with an AA battery, the flashlight is pretty bright, probably somewhere close to 100 lumens, which is not bad. it's not very sturdy, and i'm 100% sure its not waterproof, but that's ok. it's fun and bright and the adjustable focus is a neat idea. the switch is ok, it has full and low power. i noticed that full power heats the falshlight to almost unbearable heats. the low power just makes it a bit warm.

i recently bought a 3.6 volt 14500 batter ($10 for 2) which made a huge difference. the light output was probably close to double! around 200 lumens for such a small flashlight, but was still nowhere near the advertised 300 lumens

also battery life is pretty bad and nowhere near the advertised!

I've had this light for about 6 months. I take it on dog walks and use it to peer around at night when I hear things outside. I don't use it a lot so I'm still on the first AA battery. It is very bright. It's also very solid. I added a lanyard, because its small and easy to drop--it would be nice if they included one. I'll probably pick up a few more of these.

Honest reviews on SecurityIng® 7W 300LM Mini CREE LED Flashlight with Adjustable

I just purchased one of each of the six compact LED flashlights offered by Amazon with Prime shipping. The average cost was $5 $6. The good news is that all of them worked fine and there is very little reason to favor one over the others. I will provide brief Pros and Cons on the individual product sites.

This SecurityIng is a CREE Q5 "mini" (some sold under the CREE name are not). i really like the design and manufacture, although some threads appears to be bare aluminum on aluminum, which may eventually gall (seize up). I am a bit puzzled by the finish, which is not normal black anodization but more like a chrome finish (it almost looks like stainless steel, but clearly is not). Overall, this is probably my favorite.

PROS: 1) Good focus adjustment, 2) bright, even with just a single AA battery.

CONS: See comments above.

I have a cree 300 in black that has just done its job. I am so happy with it, that I ordered some silver ones. Well on inspection, the first thing I noticed is that the button part has no "O" ring. Second, is that the spring is much smaller compared to my original cree. Third, the threads are not as robust as the original. The body is the same and the LED is the same. The area where you adjust the beam is a little more tight. On my original its very smooth. It will not pose a problem. Only saying its not as smooth. Overall a great flashlight. The color is very nice. I just use regular double A batteries and never have had a problem. Well worth the price.

Unlike the rectangular 10 W LED lights that I purchased from LED wholesalers fulfilled by Amazon, this light could not take reverse polarity. So I reversed it by accident once and the light was dead. While it did work it wasn't very much better than the 10 W rectangular version without that lens and it seemed dimmer.

I recently bought this light to replace my broken $20.00 security light and wanted something that would last longer than 3 months without having to replace a fairly expensive flood light. I also wanted something that would be less power hungry than the 200 watts my previous light required. This light only uses 30 watts of power that is less than a quarter of the power my previous light required. When I installed this light and turned it on for the first time I was blown away at how bright it was. Also, the color of white that the light emits is closer to sunlight than that of an incandescent bulb. In short, I believe it is maybe a touch less bright than my previous light, but not much. As they show in the description it is comparable to 200 watts and it is very true. Had it for about a month now and not a complaint one.

Need to get 1 more. I am replacing some CF outside lights with these. A lot more light with less energy consumption. CF's do not seem to last long in this country (Bahamas) where power cuts and local generator power is used several times a month. So far the 2 I got have held up fine for 2 months. Hoping they last longer than the CF's which go out every 6-18 months.

The lights come with little instructions and about a 3' pigtail 3 wire cord. But, the 3 wires are marked with a sticker as to which color is line, neutral and ground. If those terms confuse you, or do not know what color wire is what at the install site, you had better get an electrician.

Update April 26

Got a third one and just put it up. One side of the fixture had just the drill hole and was not threaded for the bolt to attach the bracket, The bolts are metric. But since they are small I did not try to rethread the metric bolt or try change the 1 threaded hole to 5/16". I bought a new 5/16" bolt for the unthreaded side and tapped the mounting hole with a 5/16" tap. This was easy as the meal is aluminum. Annoying though. If you do not have a tap and die set, you have a problem and could be cheaper to send the unit back than go out and buy a set just for this job.

Do not know why, but when first electrified, the light turns on for hours regardless of the settings. Getting used to the photo sensor (3) adjustments is a little trick too. One of the other lights yesterday turned on for a few hours in the middle of the day for some reason but reset to the settings that were left in place and went off until it got dark.

One has stopped working completely. I will check the motion senser to see if that has failed or the LED has failed

updated June 11

This particular install I had to mount the unit with the photo sensor on top of the light with the control knobs facing down. My mistake as waster got into the fixture from extremely heavy rain through the photo sensor joints in the stem. Should have used more sealer. It is better to mount the fixture with the photo sensor under the light, Got a little lazy and paid the price

I have this light attached to my garage about 13 feet up. It lights up quite the area. I am impressed with the amount of light it produces in such a small pachage.

Honest reviews on Ledwholesalers Motion and Photo Sensor Floodlight, 30 Watt Led

This thing while it briefly worked was exact what I need. I wired it up on the bench and adjusted the settings for sensitivity and time, It was nice and bright and the motion detector seemed to work well. Then I unplugged it and climbed up the ladder and installed it. After all that it decided it didn't want to work anymore. I fiddled with it on the ladder then had to take it back down. Back to the work bench where while fiddling with it some more it came on one more time and then that was it. I can hear the relay for the motion detector working properly but the light simply wont light up except on those two rare occasions. Luckily Amazon has the best return policy there is but this particular item turned out to be a collisional waste of time. At least it didn't almost blow a hole in my hand like one of the other reviewers experienced!

I'm aghast this product made it to market.

After installing the floodlight, I set about tuning the motion sensor.

After 5 minutes I heard a load 'whoosh' noise and a spark flew from the unit. Upon closer inspection the floodlight had failed in a catastrophic way. Something inside exploded with such force it pierced a hole clean through the metal enclosure! Thankfully my hand was not there at the time, but had been there just moments earlier.

See my uploaded picture. I just can't believe it blew a hole through the metal case.

The user installation guide and manual are written in very poor English, with nonsensical phrases. This alone should have made me wary of this junk Chinese product.

I received the Dorcy 41-4225 for Christmas 2009. I liked it and it did provide good lighting. All of a sudden it stopped working in August. I charged it and nothing! I called the company and they said does it blink when it is charging. I said yes and they said it was the battery which is not covered by the one year warrranty. Neither are the bulbs. So the one year warranty is a hoax. I guess if you want a disposable light for $40 this is ideal. I will go back to the trouble light with the electric cord that I have been using for 15 years.

At first view this worklight seems like a fantastic deal, but I have been using it for over a month now and let me tell you that you get what you pay for. The charging adaptor takes at least 8 hours and the longest it stays lit is an hour. So there is a bunch of downtime. Maybe with a fast charger or an interchangable battery pack I would have scored this a 4 possibly a 5. As far as being bright it is an awesome light! Very even and bright light that produces very little glare.

What a piece of junk. I bought this to use for emergencies. I charged it up, tested it, and put it in the closet. When I wanted to use it, no luck it was dead. I charged it up again, and no light!!! Too bad I had it in the closet for several months and don't remember where I bought it. I'd take it back.

Honest reviews on Dorcy 41-4225 Rechargeable Broad Beam LED Work Light with AC

Maybe I got lucky and got a good one. I bought mine at the clearance table of a store (not here). I do not recall the price I paid, but it was cheap enough that I was expecting a cheap product. I have used it for two years now, and it is the first light source I reach for in the garage. I dropped it from the rafters of the garage onto the concrete floor and it still worked. While I have not kept track of how long it takes to charge, or how long it holds a charge, they seem reasonable to me. The light it produces is bright and wide, and having the option to hang it or use magnets is a big plus. The magnets are strong enough that I have forgotten about the light being stuck to the underside of the hood and have closed it and driven around! The shape of the handle is pleasing to hold and the on/off button is in a comfortable place.

Great product. The magnets give you hands free ease when working. The light is strong and lasts. It recharges by AC electrical outlet or by DC outlet in your vehicle. I can't say enough about the versatility and usability of this product.

Honest reviews on Cooper Lighting LED130C Might-D-Light Camo Rechargeable Folding LED

A full charge does not last two hours as advertised, more like an hour. I have repeatedly charged and used it, and it is bright and a great design as far as the way it folds up, can hang anywhere, the camo, BUT if the light doesnt last it is a paperweight at best. It's not worth taking camping, because you will have to recharge it so often.

I tried out several MR16 bulbs, and this is hands down the best for light quality.

HOWEVER, the product now being shipped is a 6.5 watt, 4-bulb physically larger version than the 5 watt pictured and shipped previously. It claims a higher lumen output on the package as well (350 vs. 260), but it isn't really noticeable.

They changed the size and specs completely, and kept the SKU and part number. So you're hosed if you, like me, have been upgrading your lights a few at a time.

The new bulb sticks out further and will not look good if installed next to the older model and wont fit in some fixtures. I found this out the hard way halfway through fitting these into 24 3" can lights.

I called the company to find out what the deal was and given an obviously well-rehearsed speech that they "have the right to improve the product". When I asked to speak to a manager, I was given the same brush-off.

Improve the product? Fine. But if you change the shape and specs this much, do it under a new part number so as not to screw your existing customers like this.

I tried out a few different LED GU10 bulbs, now that they are a little more affordable, to replace my 50W halogens in my kitchen track lighting. These newer generation high power bulbs are definitely a step up. I compared this bulb to the Phillips ambient 4W (200 lumen output). I was trying to get as close as possible to the color of the halogens so it wouldn't seem apparent that some of the fixtures are LED bulbs and some are the existing halogens (I'm slowly replacing the halogens as they burn out). The Phillips was good, but the color was slightly cooler than the halogen. The light output was sufficient and it seems just slightly dimmer than the 50W halogen next to it. But for track lighting, it seemed to be just fine. Then I thought I'd try out this Feit 5W bulb (although the other Feit LEDs got poor reviews from my reading) which has 260 lumen output. The color is a little warmer than the Phillips--much closer to the halogens. I was concerned that the style of the bulb would produce a narrow beam but the spread of the beam was also comparable to my halogens. THe light output is great, looks even a little brighter than my 50W halogen but not so bright that it's offensive.

The only downside I found was that it is NOT instant on, it illuminates just 1-2 seconds after the rest of the lights. For my purpose, these lights are on several hours and not being turned on and off, so this still works fine in my kitchen. I don't have a dimmer on these lights so cannot comment on that feature.

On one track I now have this FEIT 5W LED next to a Halogen 50W next to the Phillips ambient 4W LED. So far I think this one looks the best! Will likely purchase more in the future as needed to replace my halogens.

Best Deals for Feit Electric MR16/GU10/DM/LED 6.5 Watt Dimmable Performance MR16

We have a generic reading light fixture that came with two 50 watt GU10 halogen bulbs. Each bulb is on its own dimmer. This fixture served us fairly well for a long time, but we had to be very wary of the protective metal housing around the bulb, as it would get very hot. After our young daughter singed her hand on the metal housing, we decided to try some LED-based bulbs to reduce the risk of accidental burns.

We bought and installed two of these Feit electric GU10 LED bulbs as replacements. The highest output from each individual bulb slightly exceeds what the old 50W bulbs could do; at the low end, however, the halogen bulbs win hands-down. At the lowest setting, these LED bulbs go down to maybe 2/3 of their maximum brightness; the halogen bulbs will dial down until they are just barely glowing. For our purposes, this is not really much of a big deal, but if you're into a more subtle approach to your lighting (say, if one occupant of the bed wanted to read, while the other wanted to sleep), this is not the right light bulb for the job.

As one might expect, the operating temperature of these LED bulbs is quite a bit lower than their halogen equivalents. I'm sure that will save us from at least one more burn.

While I would prefer a bulb with more dimmable range, if I had to choose whether to buy these again after knowing what I know now, I feel fairly certain that I would repeat the purchase.

Honest reviews on Feit Electric MR16/GU10/DM/LED 6.5 Watt Dimmable Performance MR16

I'm comparing the Feit 6.5W GU10 and Philips 6W GU10 #822882 from HD and used 50W GU10 Halogens that came with my 12-year old house remodel. I used a Nikon D4 digital camera, WhiBal color reference card, Lightroom 4.3, and a Sekonic L-358 light meter. FWIW, I do not have a dimming wall switch yet.

Light color:

Feit 6.5W: 2950 kelvin

Philips 6W: 2950

Halogen 50W: 2600

Intensity, measured @ 1 meter distance:

Feit 6.5W: 7.3 EV (x 2.5 for lumens?)

Philips 6W: 7.5 EV

Halogen 50W: 7.3 EV

Size:

Feit 6.5W: 50.4mm L x 50.0mm rim x 46.25mm bowl

Philips 6W: 48.25mm L x 50.0mm rim x 45.85mm bowl

Halogen 50W: 46.25mm L x 49.9mm rim x 46.50mm bowl

Observations:

Feit 6.5W: Has four LED's positioned close to the front glass element, causing significant glare when observed near the side. Guess the power-on delay is 1/2 second. Will not fit into the tulip bowel of my track lighting fixture without performing surgery on the fixture due to the extended large diameter of the bulb's "bowl".

Philips 6W: Has one LED positioned back in a bowl reflector, so there is less side glare than the Feit, but significantly more than the Halogen. Instant power-up and fits the same as the old halogen.

Halogen 50W: These have best positioned light element, furthest back from the front glass to minimize side glare. Also these spill light out the back, which give an aesthetic lighting glow to the light fixture. The backside of the LED bulbs are completely dark.

I decided to go with the Philips, but help me out... I'd like to cobble up a couple of tiny LEDs that sits on the back bowl of the lamp, connected with thin leads to the 120VAC posts of the GU10 fitting... bringing back the aesthetic back-spill light. Got suggestions for me on how to rig this up?

My first experience with solar lights. I like the NE1201-28 very much, especially the variated light pattern cast on the ground. However, the (Li-Phosphate) batteries require a lot of sunlight per day to keep them fully charged per day. My spot for the lights was near trees but the trees are getting too thick with leaves. The lights are great and very bright, if they get enough sunlight.

I highly recommend this great product.

I needed a new desk lamp to use at the dining room table when I spread out references for a large project. A normal table lamp simply did not provide enough illumination. As this is the first LED lamp I have ever owned, I was a little concerned that it would not be bright enough. Well, I was pleasantly surprised: it is quite bright. Also, the adjustable positioning features of this lamp allow me to point the light exactly where it needs to be. The lamp has three brightness settings; but I always use it (for reading) at the brightest setting.

According to the product description, this lamp produces 432 Lumens at 8.37 watts. I connected this lamp through a Kill A Watt (P3 International P4400 Kill A Watt Electricity Usage Monitor), and here are the power consumption readings: brightest setting 7 watts; middle setting 5 watts; lowest setting 3 watts. This is quite a nice savings, compared to ordinary light bulbs.

I bought this lamp for normal, every-day use; however, a month after it arrived, I had the opportunity to use it for backup lighting when the power line to my neighborhood was accidentally cut. I discovered that this LED lamp will run while connected to a modified-sine-wave inverter (supplied from a 20 amp hour battery). Since a CFL bulb cannot be operated with most modified-sine-wave inverters, this means that this LED lamp is a good choice for backup lighting. Since this lamp has even lower power consumption than a CFL bulb, you can maintain lighting on a battery-powered inverter for considerably longer.

I was looking around searching for a nice LED desk lamp. I looked at other online retailers but they were very expensive. I came across Prism-lightening randomly and saw this lamp and it seemed perfect and it had a much better price. I choose the metallic grey one with anti-glaring. The lamp stands out nicely in my apartment. The packaging was very nicely done and gave a nice first impression of the product I was dealing with and gave me confidence I made the right purchase once I put the thing together which was easy and fun. This was an awesome product, highly functional and aesthetically pleasing!!!! Thanks!!!

I have had this lamp for around a month or so. Very nice quality. Good light for reading, studying. Very Stylish. If I could make one change, it would be to make the base just a little bit heavier ... that way when you adjust the angle of the arm it would be more secure. Sometimes the base lifts up off the desk when I am moving the arm. Other than that, very satisfied.

Honest reviews on PRISM TL-4300GR Energy Star LED Desk Lamp with Anti-Glaring Filter

Summary first:

I received the gray. An excellent color with aluminum accents. I think it looks better in person than in the pictures.

The base is plastic with metal inside and heavy enough for stability. The lamp is made of good quality plastic and some metal. Overall solid quality construction. The LED's are recessed in the thin lamp arm section so they don't shine in your eyes. The diffuser works well and evenly lights work area with no glare. Power consumption is very low at 8.4W on max brightness. The lamp is just barely warm after hours of use. Lamp control is by touch button similar to a touch screen on a smartphone. Touch button is lighted when off. There is no separate on/off button.

I love this lamp and would not hesitate to buy it again. The longer I have it the more I like it.

Light output: Max 500 lumen. For comparison 400 Lumens= 40W incandescent and 800 Lumens= 60W incandescent. Keep in mind that this lamps light is reflected down so it will appear to put out more light.

Dimming: 3 levels. No separate on/off, so you have to cycle down from high, med, low to off. No big deal for me. Touch control works well similar to a smart phone touch screen.

Light color: Halfway between warm white and bright white on the color spectrum. A good choice in my opinion. Not too white like office fluorescent lighting.

Light diffuser: Works well. You can easily see the individual LED's looking directly at them, but the lamp diffuser evenly lights your desk or work area. The LED lamp arm swivels about 15 degrees.

Adjustability of lamp:

1) BASE swivels only 45 degrees left or right. 90 degrees or more would be much better, but not a deal breaker for me.

2) VERTICAL arm adjusts nearly flat front or back. (almost 90 degrees forward and almost 90 degrees backwards.

3) LAMP ARM will fold down flush with the vertical arm and 45 degrees higher than horizontal. Sorry if that description is confusing.

4) LAMP ARM TILT is only about 15 degrees. This is enough tilt to keep the lamp from shining in your eyes.

Note: The lamp joint(s) do creek a little when brand new. This does not last long.

LED life:

You should NEVER have to replace any of the LED's. They are made of silicon. The same stuff as your computer microprocessors are made from (Intel) though the manufacturing process is much different. The built in power supply is much more likely to fail before any of the LED's.

Note: Not this model, but some models from this company have an AC adapter (110V-220V) that can be replaced if it goes bad. Prism TLC-4300BK Multi-Function LED Desk Lamp with Anti-Glaring Filter , Black

Power consumption:

OFF: 0 Watts

High 8.4 Watts

Med 4.4 Watts

low 2.5 Watts

Measured using Belkin Conserve Insight Energy-Use Monitor

Switched outlet: The lamp does not remember the last setting if used on switched outlet.

Emergency Lighting: Since this lamp uses so little power it can be used as emergency lighting if you have some type of emergency power source either generator or battery with 12 DC to AC 110V.

LED lighting costs have come down a lot but are still expensive. Still a good value at less than $100 considering the LED's will last a very long time, good light color, 3 light levels and excellent construction, materials and very low power consumption.

I also have the Prism TLC-4300BK (more expensive) that has 3 light color option and a few extra features. I always use it on the white color. Great lamp to, if you don't mind the extra cost.

i like this light. i don't mind the 'tap three times' to turn it off .. minor inconvenience.

my wife has to use it and she is kinda picky. she loves it, too.

it's bright, doesn't monopolize desk space, is fairly adjustable.

minor gripes: no shades on it. i sit on the other side of it while watching tv and she is at her desk.

i had to add a shade so it wouldn't always shine in the corner of my eye.

light itself swivels forward and backward but not that much. should be wider swivel.

would recommend to others.

My wife and I just purchased a large number of the Feit PAR38 bulbs and one PAR30 bulb from our local COSTCO store. These replace current incandescent bulbs in our track lighting and we were very pleased with the result. The bulbs have a reasonably "warm" color temperature that looks good in a residential application and they work well with our existing dimmer switches. The bulbs are a very good value at COSTCO ($39.99 and $36.99) respectively except that all of the COSTCO stores in our area are out of the PAR30 size. Sadly, even Amazon can't come close to the COSTCO in store price and costco.com doesn't appear to sell them. We have tried compact fluorescent replacement reflectors but they have a number of annoying features that the LEDs have significantly solved: slow warm-up time, an audible buzzing noise when used with a dimmer, and pulsating instability when the dimmer is turned down too low (even on the supposedly dimmable CFLs). One note: if you like the red color shift that you can obtain with an incandescent bulb as you lower the temperature with a dimmer, LEDs won't do it for you; for now at least you're stuck with your old energy hog reflectors. The "color temperature" of the LEDs is almost constant with changes in dimmer setting.

The 18 watt Feit PAR38 bulb is rated to replace a 75 watt incandescent reflector bulb but it actually appears brighter than our existing 120W bulbs. This is partly due to the smaller divergence angle of the light from the 7 LED array than is typical for an incandescent ... one minor downside. Assuming power costs of $0.15/kw-hr, each of the PAR30 bulbs should net us a savings of about $353 over the estimated 25,000 hour life of the bulbs, and this estimate includes the approximate $30 extra cost of the bulb compared to a standard incandescent. With a total of 12 similar bulbs in our house (a mix of PAR38 and PAR30 bulbs) we can expect to save over $4,000 just by switching out our track lighting. No bad, and we're lowering our "carbon footprint" at the same time. Now if COSTCO will only get the PAR30 bulbs back in stock!

I've been dying to test one of these, but I refuse to pay 12x the price of a normal $6 halogen bulb. I was very exicited when we picked up one of these at Costco a week ago at half that price, and I could not be happier.

We have a great room / kitchen a lot of these spot lights. The ceiling is between 9' and 12' high and there is a single spot at the highest point which is on an independent switch (I think it was intendended to be used as a nightlight) and this is the one I put the new LED bulb into. The bulbs have a 38 degree spread and I think the height of my ceiling probably has something to do with how well it lights up the room, I'm not sure how "spotty" they would be in a typical hallway or room with an 8' ceiling.

I will forewarn anyone attempting to do this, that these bulbs are very heavy (ceramic core / aluminum cooling / glass diffuser) and the diffuser lens is made of glass with little bumps on it (like privacy glass). The suction cup lightbulb changer did not work. I had to climb up and change it by hand.

The light is extremely white and powerful, moreso than the other halogens around it, despite being only 650 lumens instead of the 700 with my typical halogens. It appears they got the color frequency right and it has none of the wash-out blue tones that you get with normal coil bulbs. I'm more sensitive to this than most people, but it was a big deal to me to have light where I could actually see! The "harsh shadows" that people talk about is absolutely true. The light is so strong, that even imperfections in the edges of our counters immediately drew the attention of my wife.

They say "instant on", which is about 95% true. When I switch all the banks (Halogen and LED) on at the same time, there is about a 1/4 second difference between when the Halogens come on and the LED. Very minor, but I thought I'd mention it.

These things are supposed to last 8x time longer than a halogen so we'll have to see if they live up to that.

If the price comes down even just a little more they'd be such a bargain, it be a no-brainer for everyone. I'm sure we'll be replacing all of our spots with them sooner rather than later.

Update:

About 6 months ago I bought about 20 of these and installed them everywhere! I've been very happy them. I cannot believe how much brighter they are than the 65 watt halogen bulbs.

This bulb is a good PAR30 bulb replacement but is not nearly as wide angle with a soft shadow light as any incandescent or CFL PAR30 flood bulb you may be used to. It casts a pretty harsh shadow and you do not want to be caught looking into this bulb, it is extremely bright and will hurt your eyes. If it had a diffuser dome on the front it would be perfect.

Use it in applications where the light will not be at eye level or where you need more focused light than a typical flood. It should be ideal in a track lighting fixture.

brighter then regular Par 30 bulb but smaller covering angle. It also produce a buzzing noise when use with dimmer. The noise getting louder when adjust the dimmer towards darker. My reading room have 4 recessed lights. So the total noise level is very noticeable.

These are not your typical flood bulb. They're more of a spotlight type bulb with a very defined cone of illumination. Personally I love them, but some people may not appreciate the how well defined their lighting area is if you're trying to flood a room with light.

I've had mine since May of 2011 and have had zero issues to date. Instant on at full brightness. None of that Dim CFL "Am I going blind?" feeling that you get from wandering into the kitchen, flipping the light on, and seeing how jaundiced and dim the world looks.

It's sold as a cabinet light, and I'm sure it's great for that, but I purchased it as a light to illuminate my computer keyboard when working in a dim room. It's absolutely wonderful at that: bright, glare-free and because of the wide span of the LEDs, pretty much shadow-free as well. Add to that the cool light and low power consumption of LEDs and it's just superb. Easy to install and very slim profile, too.

Purchased 25 units to go underneath my kitchen. 100s of LEDs...not a single one was dead.

I wired them up into one large circuit, spliced into boxes (per code) and the result is fantastic.

My wife is sensitive to light and this does not bother her. I consider them very bright.

One note LEDs are so bright that you need more than you think. if going under cabinets, where 2 boxes come together with a lip...this may cast a shadow. Needed a few more strips of lights to balance out the shadow.

glad i went with these. very happy. if considering puck lights, these are 100x better.

When this arrived, I plugged it in right away to see if it worked. Indeed, every LED lit up nice and bright. Then I looked for the on/off switch. I looked all over it. No switch! I thought maybe they had cleverly disguised one of the LED lights on the end to be a push-button on/off switch, but that wasn't it.

Then I noticed the instructions on how to INSTALL the in-line switch on the ELECTRICAL CORD.

This involves taking the supplied switch apart, clipping part of one of the wires leading from the device, and putting the switch in place so that it makes the clipped cord parts connect via the switch. The switch is the kind that is on the cord, with a small wheel you turn with your thumb to click it on or off. One has to be very careful not to cut the wrong wire when installing it, and not to accidentally cut through the adjacent wire in the process.

I am not a "handy" person, and I do not like to mess with anything electrical, so I found this task quite intimidating. I didn't want to risk doing it wrong, or leave any of the wire exposed, therefore creating a fire hazard. I also didn't want to risk permanently ruining the cord by accidentally doing something wrong, so I asked someone else with electrical experience to do it for me.

If you are more handy than I am, you'll need a small pliers made for clipping wires, and a small phillips head screw driver to take the switch apart.

I put them under my kitchen cabinets. But, I bought 3, then 1, at two different times. The light balance between the newer 1 and the original 3 is very different be aware that if you get a different batch of LEDs (I assume) you might see this effect (similar to the difference in light quality between the two different fluorescent types). It is very noticeable in my kitchen, it's not a small difference. We are going to have to move the new one to a different location so that it is not as obvious when you turn the lights on.

Other than that, I love them. This wouldn't be an issue for everyone, but I took off a star as a warning.

I ordered two of these fixtures, one worked fine but the other was defective. The vendor return policy on Amazon was to contact the manufacturer for defective units. I did so and found that they would not honor their warranty. They told me to return it to the vendor, who would not, of course, accept it.

Bottom line. Fifty percent or one of two fixtures being defective is really bad quality. Not standing behind your product warranty shows no faith in the items you produce and is a disastrous policy for your product quality reputation.

I will eat my loss and never purchase a Good Earth Lighting product again.

Too bad I couldn't give it zero stars!
