the product looks great and is well built. I don't have a duct leading outside the house so i followed the instructions to recirculate the air into the kitchen. Installation wasn't too bad but not easy (one of the four screws needs a very long(8"+) screw driver to reach into, it is in the corner so it is essential to install, expect to scratch your hands reaching it), our kitchen cabinet had issues and i had to custom cut a thin sheet of plywood.... one major issue i have now is the noise, on 'high' setting it becomes unbarable, the air rushing out of the vent and into our kitchen area generates high noise, i put a short piece of scotch tape covering a small part of the duct to make it less noisy. And don't expect that no matter what you cook it will be sucked in, the cfm rating is high but the squirrel cage is on the left side not in the center, so you have to cook under it to have better results(but it is never as you want it, which is watching everything sucked in with force into the filters). Also, if you install it without a duct don't expect to eliminate the food smell in the house as you are recirculating the air, only moist and some particles would stick in the filters (which is important), but the smell will still be there....
this is my experience with non-ducted installation, i am assuming all hoods have the same issue and maybe this is the best out there. We had to put something in that space and this hood fits great with our stainless steel appliances.

I live in a condo and the HOA did not allow me to install a hood which vents to the outside, so my only choice was to go ductless, and after looking around a little I bought this one based on price and style. It was not hard to install, the instructions are straight-forward. Also, this one is not exclusively ductless---you can connect a 7" diamter vent exiting vertically from the top or a 3x10" rectangular vent out the back.Contrary to what some may say, in the ductless configuration a hood like this one does nothing for air quality. If you think otherwise you are only fooling yourself. The hood's replaceable carbon filters perhaps catch some grease, but I still end up having to clean above the unit every month to remove a thin layer of oily scum. The carbon filters do not eliminate odors. All the moisture generated from cooking is simply getting blown by the fan up towards the cabinets and ceiling above the unit. The purported 300cfm is laughable---at the highest speed it hardly pulls in half the smoke from grilling steaks (not that it makes any difference, airquality-wise). However, if you can run a duct to the outside, consider going with a 600cfm one at least (taking into consideration duct length and back-draft, of course).
In short, the only thing I like is the clean, modern design and the bright lighting (4 halogen bulbs, two brightness settings). That's basically what you're buying here.
One last thing: Recently, Vent-a-Hood has come out with a ductless hood and filter that they claim really filters odor and absorbs moisture. But at over $2k, it wasn't an option for me. Those with no other choice but to go ductless may want to take a look at it, though.

This is a replacement for my microwave/hood, which is next to useless when removing greasy air from the kitchen. This one looks very nice. When the fan is running at high speed, it creats a powerful suction, I can have a napkin to be sucked to the filter, that powerful. The installation was a bit pain. Once installed, it works great. Wish I have done this earlier.Honest reviews on Broan QP130SS Evolution 1 30 In. Stainless Steel Convertible Range
The price of this range hood was ~$55 cheaper on amazon than one of the big box, home improvement stores. The other well known store did not carry this model. The lower price saved enough to cover the cost of 2 filters for a ductless installation and the 4 halogen bulbs.Hood does not come with an electrical cord. If you do not have a cord you can reuse, this will be an additional expense.
All exposed stainless steel is shipped with protective blue plastic. A magnet will attach to the stainless steel. So its not high grade.
The top front edge of the hood was not completely flat it had a curve to it (concave). But once attached to the bottom of the cabinet (with 5 screws one in each corner and one along the front edge) most of the curve is gone.
Have not done a lot of use of the fan yet so no first-hand knowledge on how effective it is.
This is a very nice looking range hood and it gets even better when you turn on the 4 halogen lights. The lower light setting is useful for late evening hours since I don't have under cabinet lighting.
