OK first off I give the light 4 stars because it is a three way light not 5 way. It is high low and strobe which by the way work flawlessly. The light is not 1000 lumens, but I did not think it could be with the led listed that the add said it was, but it is very bright, the strobe is fast! For the money your about to spend it is well worth it, in fact if you want a flashlight of any kind you would be foolish to buy anything else, honestly. I did buy the rechargable battery battery two pack with charger, another great buy.

Let me add an extra bit of info with this, as the light was cheap enough I tested the light with two cr123a lithium batteries stacked on top and just made a little sleeve to take up the gap as they are a little thinner. They give you a higher lumen rating that way, I have a scorpian light and it outshines it! If you buy cr123a batteries buy the 40 pack from tenergy for $40usd no better deal and the batteries are fresh!!!

Who ever wrote up the add for this light needs to rewrite it and correct the mistakes. This light rocks and there is nothing this compact that gives this amount of light for the price!!

INSTRUCTIONS

To operate the light click it on, To change modes just tap the button slightly and it will change to the next in the setting rotation, please note I said slightly tap with just enough force to rotate setting, as to much will just click it off.

I am putting this in the review as there will be no instructions which is the same for other sellers, and I noticed some complaints that the lights did not work. I believe those reviews to be just user error, but like ALL products some do fail.

also the construction on the light is very good quality, I did not however drop it in water to test if it is waterproof, maybe I'll buy another one to test it, but I'm not going swimming with it. if anything It seems to be resistant as I did use it in the rain the other night walking the dog.

In February 2013, I ordered this light (Ultrafire 501b), but what I received is a 3-mode light, not a 5-mode. Here that is the title of the ad, but the info a page down says Item model number: 502B.

The model 501b is being sold from various venders for varying prices, although many of these are available for Amazon Prime.

It functions fine once it is ON, the mode can be changed by pressing the button switch halfway down in a fashion similar to a digital camera focus prior to taking a photo.

Is there a difference between the 501b and 502b? The difference is that the 501b has a lanyard and the 502b has a clip along the side.

Also, my 502b projects a smaller spot than my 501b.

Both of these lights have a single battery that is number 18560, a 3.7 volt Li-ion rechargeable battery that is not found in most stores but has to be ordered from a company such as Amazon.

Very bright, no doubt about that!

The 5 mode controller DOES HAVE MEMORY. So if you shut the flashlight off, then say, 30 seconds later, turn it back on, it will still be on the mode that you had it on when you initially shut it off.

So unless you turn it on and off quickly, the flashlight stays in the same mode.

The housing can get very warm if left on max brightness for an extended amount of time.

Spend the $ and get decent batteries to fully appreciate the performance of this monstrosity.

Wicked bright but not 1000 lumens -about as bright as my Maglite 2D LED Pro, but different beam focus & shape, and of course far far smaller.

It gets pretty hot pretty quickly but it still works (unlike the 502b I ordered at the same time that heated up fast and went out with a smell of burnt circuits). As someone else pointed out, the metal body acts as the heat sink in these devices.

Would have preferred a clip (like 502b) instead of lanyard but no biggie.

It does have mode-memory but I dropped a star because of the touchy switch; sometimes it doesn't change modes when you are trying to or it changes mode when you try to switch it off. Two switches (ON-OFF and mode) would be nice since it has 5 modes (plus OFF) to cycle through.

Oh, fast shipping, too: domestic seller.

This light was shipped as promised and so far I am quite impressed with it. I don't know how you could go wrong buying one of these at such a low price. Maybe this is an instance the expression " you get what you pay for..." Does not apply.
