3 of these in my livingroom ceiling fan providing a decent amount of soft lighting, a little blue-ish. in another room a 5.5 watt SMD bulb, the blue is corrected for being inside a white glass globe.
I've had thoughts about visiting a hobbyshop to pick up a can of candy yellow or candy orange paint, for barely fogging the plastic diffuser covers.. maybe an option.
these SMD's put out about the same light on half the wattage of their CFL counterparts, cost about the same, and MAY last 10x longer than the CFL's, we'll see. the CFL bulbs made great claims about longevity and I've had many CFL's die (toxic waste!). if these SMD's last, they'll pay for themselves in the first year, just for the difference in operating cost compared to CFL's.
I like the similar looking 4 watt bulb a little more.

Pretty much as expected, its an appliance bulb, puts out a slightly blue/green "Cool White" light which i would say is about equivalent to a 15 or 20 watt bulb, 25 watt equivalent is pushing it and its nowhere near a 30 or 40 watt. I'm using it in my bathroom that has no windows as a constantly on light source, till i get another bulb that is, then this one is going to become my desk light which it'll be good for.The only thing that really concerns me is how dim it looks even close up. Like, i expect it to be dim farther out but its rather dim even close up... Considering the price though, its not a bad buy. I'll add a photo.
