We mounted it over a stove in a small galley, thinking the steam would not harm it. It looks nice, but the light output is inadequate for cooking. It is slightly brighter than a night light.

Always a little disappointed in the high price of many LED fixtures, however, at least this one is of very high quality. It has an integral on/off switch and swiveling mounting brackets that allow the aiming of the light. We use this over the sink in our RV. Plenty of light and handy to use.
