I purchased this bulb to test out before specifying them on a clients house. They are pretty good. They do light up bright at first. There is a moment after about a minute where the halogen bulb inside turns off and the fluorescent remains on where it appears the light dims slightly. Overall though it is a good solution until LED bulb prices lower. They cannot be dimmed though.

Bought 6 of these to replace some burned out bulbs in our house. We've used 5 so far, and after 4 months every single one has needed replaced! This is a far cry from the advertised lifespan on the package.

Worked great at first: flip the light switch and it comes on immediately. There's a slight dimming after about 1-2 minutes when it flips over to the CFL. Mildly annoying, but you get used to it.

But after 4 months of regular usage, the CFL portion of all 5 bulbs have burned out. The result is that you get immediate light when you turn on the switch, and when it flips over to the CFL you're left in darkness.

I love the idea of a CFL hybrid that turns on immediately, but I can't spend this much money on a single bulb that only lasts up to 4 months.

Just installed a GE reveal bright from the start hybrid CFL. I am a lighting fanatic. This combination of technologies is fantastic; however, one needs to know what to expect. The light is bright at first then fades to a normal 15 watt CFL at 740 lumens. The CRI of the reveal is super too. Instantly bright and energy efficient. Way to GE this is an innovative and affordable lighting product!

Honest reviews on GE Lighting 63508 Reveal Bright from the Start CFL 15-Watt (60-watt

I got this bulb for a frequently utilized kitchen light. When you first flip the switch, the bulb responds instantly, bathing the room in nice, Reveal-style color-enhanced light that seems equivalent to a normal 60-watt Reveal bulb. Several seconds later, the bulb dims dramatically, making anyone in the room feel as if there was a brownout.

After a couple of weeks, we have noticed the bulb dimming significantly after it has been on for a while. My family and I got so annoyed with the dimming that we have replaced the bulb with another instant-on CFL rated at 13 watts (2 watts lower). We get an equivalent number of lumens with the new bulb and don't have to deal with the dimming. There are even LED solutions out there now with an equivalent rating and slightly greater energy savings with a longer lifespan (at a higher cost).

The bulb itself is in the shape of a normal bulb but substantially more rugged feeling. You can still see the ubiquitous CFL spiral inside the glass.

I can't recommend this bulb because the transfer from halogen to CFL is too apparent and distracting for a frequently used room like the kitchen. I would recommend sticking with a "normal" instant-on CFL--you'll get the energy savings and still enjoy a lifespan higher than that of a normal incandescent.

One of my new GE Reveal 15-watt bulb burned out a few minutes after I put it in.

All bulbs start nice and bright but 2 minutes later they dimmed.

Have no know ideas if it's normal.
