I am a collector of flashlights, especially compact, high qualilty LED torches. But I don't want to pay $50 or $100 for a flashlight either, so I am always on the lookout for quality flashlights. In the past I have purchased other CREE flashlights, and found the construction to be very high quality, rugged,and BRIGHT! Until my latest purchase, my favorite flashlight was a CREE SA-9 7-watt unit. It is 5 inches long, about 1 inch in diameter, and crafted from high grade aluminum. And did I say it was BRIGHT?! It was advertized as being capable of 300 lumen output, and I can attest to the fact that when you turn this flashlight on at night, it throws out a column of solid, blinding light that is just staggering. Then I saw the CREE 300LM on sale for a little over $6.00. The description says that the light output is 300 lumen. This flashlight was only about3.5 inches long, and about 0.7 inch in diameter. So this was a compact model meant to be pocket carried. I have several other flashlights of this size. Some of them are quite bright, but none could compare to the big CREE I had. The output of these other compact units are in the 100 lumen range. Bright, and in fact pretty impressive for their size. But certainly not 300 lumen. Was 300 lumen even possible in a flashlight this small, and at this very low price? Hoping for the best but fearing the worst, I bought two! I had bought from an Asian dealer, so the shipping took some time. When the CREE 300LM's arrived, I looked at them carefully. Like my larger CREE, they had the same rugged, yet finely crafted construction. It looked like a high quality tactical flashlight, but in a very compact size. Best of all, this flashlight uses a single AA battery. So I won't have to spend a mint to keep it supplied with exensive lithium batteries, which are needed by many of the high-output flashlights. I loaded the battery, which was very easy to do, and then I turned the flashlight on. An extremely bright and widespread cone of light shot out, totally lighting up the room that I was in. Then I noticed that the front of the flashlight could be slid out or in, clearly a focusing mechanism. I slid the front part of the flashlight out, as you would with a telescope. The cone of light narrowed, and concentrated, until it threw a relatively small spot of light on my wall that was blinding just to look at. The brightness of this narrowed light was astonishing! I reached across my desk and grabbed my trusy CREE SA-9, and shown the light on the wall, side-by-side with the much smaller CREE 300LM. No difference! If anything, the smaller flashlight, perhaps with its brand new battery, actually seemed slightly brighter than its bigger brother. Stand outdoors on a dark night, and turn this flashlight on. You will see what looks like a light sabre coming out of your hand, except this near-solid beam of light will reach out 100 feet, 200 feet, and light up distant targets with unbelievable brightness and clarity.

So now I am here on the internet looking for this flashlight, and I plan to buy maybe a half dozen more. I already own more flashlights than most people will ever need, but most of them throw out 100-150 lumen. This CREE 300LM is smaller, cheaper, and far brighter than all but one of my flashlights. It fits all of my needs. I will now put one in each of my cars, and in my tool box. Several will go around the house in handy spots. For short power outages and such, the wide-area light of the CREE 300LM is perfect to light up a room. And, for lighting my way at night on a city sidewalk or a wooded trail, I can think of no other flashlight that would be as good as this little monster. Buy it, or buy several. You'll be glad you did. Now, what the heck will you do with all the old flashlights you will never use again??

I bought this product after being introduced to another one like it. The one my friend had was 150 lumens without a focus but did a great job in the dark. Upon searching amazon, I came across this light and decided to give it a try because it was 300 lumens (twice as bright). However, I was a bit sceptical at first because it was made in china and the price sounded too good to be true.

I received my CREE flashlight about 1pm and after turning it on I noticed the light was bright during day time. Of course, at that point I could not wait until nightfall. Now, let me tell you, I was certainly not disappointed. This thing lit up wherever I shined it and the focus is CRAZY. I stood across the street in a public car park and the zoom allowed the light to be printed on the top floors of the 15 story building I shined it on.

As it relates to my house, that is a no brainer. If it did that well in the public space then clearly, as expected, it illuminated whatever room I shined it in.

Now, you should know it uses one AA battery which I suggest should be rechargeable. I will be hunting to see if there is any other flashlights that can top the CREE but I seriousy doubt I will find any.

Best Deals for Cree 7W 300LM Mini LED Flashlight

This is even better than advertised, because it has a 3-way click switch: high, low, strobe and off. The case is very high quality machined aluminum alloy, with O-ring seals, and with ample cooling fins around the LED. It's a little bigger diameter than my older Cree, but now that I mostly wear cargo pants that's no big deal.

Only cons are that it comes with no lanyard, sleeve or holster (but does have a sturdy belt clip). I like lights to have a wrist lanyard to prevent dropping and to make it easier to find if I lay it down somewhere. Neither of these issues are any big deal, especially at this price. There are no brand or other markings on the flashlight or on the white box it came it, and no instruction sheet, no warranty. Just the light, but what a nice little light!

I ordered this yesterday to replace a lost single AA Cree 3W. As a Prime member I got it overnight for $3.99 shipping. It can run just fine on a single AA alkaline or rechargeable battery. It's compatible with the LI-ion rechargeable 14500 3.6 V cell, and I already had one and a charger for my previous UltraFire light.

I'm very pleased with this pocketable, adjustable focus, single cell flashlight. Highly recommended! I'm going to order some spares right away, as I want one in each car, one in my camera bag, and one in my pocket at all times. They would make nice little gifts too.

Can't wait for it to get dark out so I can check the beam at a distance.

Based on the photos is the same generic light as one sold by BBQDeals, but I ordered this one to get Prime overnight shipping instead of getting the cheaper price but having to wait for shipping from China. I did find an "other" Amazon seller called "Smart Technical Deals" that ships the BBQDeals item from California. It is not Prime eligible but offers standard shipping at a low price. I just ordered two more of these for a bit over $16 including shipping and CA sales tax.

This light is very bright with a single AA, and even brighter with a single 14500 instead. On high it will use up the battery in about 50 minutes. On low it is 1/4 power and four times the battery life. The whole light will get pretty hot on high with the 3.6V 14500 Lithium battery, but doesn't get so hot with an alkaline or NiMH battery. Both this light and two that I got from SmartTechnicalDeals have the hi/lo/strobe feature. I got 4 more from BBQBuy and they only had high and off. Because of the short battery life on high, I think it is important, especially in an emergency situation, to have the extended battery life that low power provides.

This flashlight is compact, produces an extremely bright beam and is a good value for the money. It's not the most quality construction available but it's nice to have as a spare or a backup. The beam is easily focused by sliding the lens toward or away from the LED. It has a single mode tailcap switch (no momentary on) and runs off of one AA battery. The tailcap protrudes slightly beyond the body of the light and you cannot stand it on end. The pocket clip is removable and seems sturdy enough.

Unfortunately, I, like many others received only one flashlight despite the product description clearly labeling it as a two pack. Amazon refunded me the cost of one flashlight without any trouble, but it's still annoying when you were expecting two lights. I'd buy more to toss into gear bags and vehicles if I weren't worried I would have to get a half refund on every order.

Correction: The light has three modes activated by depressing the button halfway after it's turned on. High->low->strobe with no memory.
