When looking at this bulb, I thought it was frosted (which is what I wanted) but it turned out to be clear. It works but my wife wanted the frosted.

I have an old heavy brass reading light that takes this kind of bulb. I never could find an appropriate replacement. I had a forty watt bulb too dim. And I had a 100 watt decorative bulb way too hot.

60 watts is about right. I would prefer a florescent or LED with a cooler color temperature but no one makes those.

I thought I was going to get a coated bulb but contrary to the picture, it came with clear glass. That was a happy outcome because my light fixture has an opal glass shade. It is perfect for my purpose and produces lots of illumination

This GE product (Part Number 16778) is very hard to find, I went to two specialty lighting stores and neither of them stock it. Importantly, the official Amazon photo above is not correct. I have provided a real picture above in the customer photographs -my picture is the one that includes the packaging and places a standard sized pen next to the product so you can discern the real size. This product is a so-called "double envelope" halogen bulb, that is, it consists of an inner glass bulb and an outer glass bulb. The outer glass bulb is for both UV and heat protection, as the halogen inner bulb gets really hot and gives off UV rays. The outer glass bulb also makes it easier to handle, as halogen bulbs are very sensitive to fingerprint grease which will cause "hot spots" to form and reduce their lifetime. So in summary, this specialty bulb gives you all the brightness and optimal color quality of a halogen, without the practical heat, UV, and handling disadvantages of halogen. We use them in our piano room, in the lamps that light the keyboards. Awesome product.
