But there are a few design problems. One is that the LCD needs to be looked at from directly in front and above for maximum contrast; when you look from a side the display has lower contrast which makes it harder to read. And given that most people would plug this into an outlet on the side of a bathroom sink, it's normal to look at it from the side, so this is a serious issue.
Another issue is that it requires two LR44 watch batteries for the clock. Why should something that plugs into the wall require batteries to be changed every few years? They should have powered the clock from the wall as well, with a capacitor so it doesn't lose the time during short power failures.
The final design issue is that the backlight is relatively uneven, and defaults to a disco-like sequential color mode that nobody would want. You have to press the Light button seven or so times to get it to white light each time you plug it in. And the white light isn't as pure white as other nightlights. It just feels a bit cheap.
The battery cover is made of a low grade easily deformable plastic, easily stripped by turning the coin in the groove too far, rendering this device useless.
I bought three of these as Christmas stocking stuffers, and I had issues with all three. On the first the instructions didn't explain that the battery cover is already in the open position (coin groove vertical) as shipped, so I ruined the coin groove by trying to turn it in the direction of the "Open" arrow as the instructions suggested. The instructions don't mention that you need to use a screwdriver to pop the cover out even after it's in the open position.
On the second one, there was a loose connection problem where only part of the last digit worked unless I applied twisting pressure on the screen with my hand.
On the third one, the package was missing the batteries and instructions.
Luckily I was able to combine parts from all three units to make two good ones, but I would not recommend this product due to the quality control issues.

I was under the assumptio that the clock numbers stayed lit all the time, not just when I press the button. It states it is a night light, but does not glow in the dark. Would not recommend this.Best Deals for GE 11152 Acrylic Clock Night Light, Auto
This is a good idea that does what I want if it works.Even though this product has a lot of bad reviews, I decided to try it anyway because it does what I wanted. But just like the reviews, the first one I got ate through batteries in about 3 hours that's right HOURS. After that, no clock. While it was dying, it had very strange behavior. The clock would lose contrast while looking straight on, while off angle it had very good contrast. Then the clock died completely.
On the plus side, with fresh batteries, the clock had excellent contrast at all angles. I was also looking for a red light to preserve night vision for astronomy. Since you can select red from the multi colors, this light had it. The light is a bit bright looking right at it, but doesn't shine into the room that well.
Given all the reviews about the obviously varying quality, I decided to gamble and ordered a second one (insane? ) The good news is this one does NOT eat batteries (so far) and seems to be just what I want. Without the bad experience of the first one, I would give it 4 or 5 stars. But because of that first one, I would not recommend this to anyone but gamblers.
BTW, the first one is still in use as a straight night light, without the clock

I love this nightlight. I am going to disagree with the previous review about not wanting the rotating light sequence. Do you remember the old Christmas tree light decoration that would change colors from red to green to blue (think 1970's)? This is what the light reminds me of so I actually like it. I do agree with the numbers being somewhat hard to see at times but it isn't too annoying. The look in the picture is very slick, but the product is but....First shipment came without batteries. No hassle in returning it, but the second merchandise light did not work. No light at all.
Over all, the merchandise came flat and below the advertised claim. The shipping, packaging are still excellent.
I did not even bother to return the second merchandise, because my time is more expensive than the merchandise.
My advice, please think twice before ordering this merchandise, unless the seller improves the quality
