I purchased 8 of these on a recommendation from my uncle, turned out to be a great buy. You would be hard pressed to get a LED bulb for 12 bucks. I'll make some points:

-They claim to be a 40W equivalent, but are much brighter than that. They are easily brighter than florescent 60W equivalent and definitely brighter than 60W incandescent.

-Since they are so cool of a light temp, they can give a slightly ghastly or pasty appearance to skin, if used in a bathroom for example. However if used in an office or den, where a TV or monitor is used, the light temp blends very well with the light coming off the monitor/TV. I may try the 3000K versions to compare.

-They do heat up a little, not enough to burn, but enough so I would not want to put them into a completely enclosed fixture. I don't want a 22 year 12-buck bulb cooking itself.

-They radiate light only where the opaque area is; meaning if it is sideways in a fixture it generally casts light only to one side. Just something to note in non-symmetrical fixtures.

-I dropped one while installing about 4 ft. onto tile, no damage. I won't repeat that 'test' intentionally, but they are pretty rugged and I hope will survive a move or 2.

I might add to this review later as I have the bulbs for more than a week. Enjoy.

UPDATE 11OCT12: These bulbs are NOT dimmable. The model on the package is dimmable, however a 'not' is stamped next to it. Not a big deal, the amazon description was correct.

Just received these lights in the mail today and wanted to let every one know about them that was comparing them to the Lowes or Home Depot comparable. They are the same, and in some affects "feel" better. the lens seems more solid and they seem to weight slightly more. the light output appears to be the exact same. I do not know how long they last but out of the box they are the same but less expensive. I recommend these to any one who wants LED light bulbs.

I switched over from a 5000k 15 watt CFL bulb that I had on my desk while surfing the internet. I figured since I'm always at my desk, it'd be best to replace it with an LED light that will practically never burn out, and use less than half the electricity of the CFL.

When the light arrived, I was shocked at how well the packaging design was done. It was simple, yet so elegant and "green: feeling. I guess they emphasized on the green feeling since it is energy efficient haha.

It's much brighter than the CFL I had installed before, and it turns on instantly like promised. After a few hours, the top of the lamp where the bulb is screwed in does get a little hot to touch, but not as bad as a CFL or incandescent bulb would. The actual "bulb" part where light is emit from doesn't seem to get more than just slightly warm after hours of use.

Over all I love this light, it's cheap, bright, and will last a life time!

Great bedside lamp for reading, gets warm near the base but puts off very little heat compared to an incandescent bulb.

Put this in a two bulb unit and this casts a much whiter glow. It seems brighter than the other bulb that is 60 watt. As long as the life stays good, had this one for about 6 months, I would buy again.
