I've got a ton of fixtures at home that all take the GU10 bulb, and as the halogens have been dying, I've been trying to find a solid LED-based replacement.

I had high hopes for this bulb, but it's disappointed me somewhat.

PROs: Like all LEDs, power consumption is low, the bulb stays cool enough to touch even when its been on forever, and it's nearly instant-on when you switch on the lights. It's also true to the MR16 size and shape, and is light enough weight that I don't think any fixtures will have a problem with it (which was a concern with some early LED bulbs).

The LED is also true to brightness.

CONs: I bought a 'warm white' bulb and the color is definitely significantly less warm than the halogens next to it. That's an important feature to me, and knocks off a star from this review. Second, the beam is less diffuse than the halogens: It looks slightly more like a spotlight than I'd like.

Will I buy again? I think I'll consider it, but will look at other options before pulling the trigger. You should, as well, as the product category is continually evolving.

I was worried that the light would be "too white" but that was not the case with these bulbs. With this bulb you get the same look as those warm halogen bulbs, but at a fraction of the energy cost. I replaced 20 3" can lights in my house including the kitchen range hood with these bulbs 9 months ago. I ordered all of them at once and I had 100% success with each bulb. So far, I haven't had to replace any of them. This is a great deal for a good bulb that would have cost closer to $12-$15 each at any of the local shops.

I have tested several different brands of these LED bulbs, and at this price point, I expected a product with corners cut. What I received was on par with bulbs 4 times the price.

PROS:

The housing is looks and feels like quality construction.

The bulb is exactly the same shape and size of the halogens it replaced.

The light beam is diffused very similarly to standard halogens.

The color temperature is pleasant. It is not yellowish, nor is it blueish. It has a nice natural color.

Brightness is as advertised. They are probably just a bit brighter than the 35 watt halogens I replaced.

CONS:

The bulbs I received were a bit dusty.

I have seen brighter LED bulbs with the same wattage, so I guess these are probably not the most efficient bulbs on the market. It's still a lot better than halogens, though.

NOTE: Just recieved these bulbs so this is a first impressions review. I can't speak for longevity yet...

I have 6 lights on a track fixture, and 2 of the OEM bulbs quit, so I ordered 2 of these for replacement. I can't see anything to complain about with these bulbs. They are almost the identical size as the 50W halogens Im replacing, and as such, they snap right into the track fixture heads with no problem. They are truly instant-on, which amazed me you literally can not see any delay as you turn the switch on, and these bulbs are in the same fixture as other halogens, so it would be noticable if there was even a slight delay. The color is probably the best ive seen in an LED as of yet the light is barely noticably different from the halogens, except that these bulbs are slightly brighter (this could be due to the age of the remaining halogen bulbs?...) anyway, I'm ordering 4 more of these to fill out that track fixture, and another 10 for all the other GU10 bulbs in the house. I'm VERY happy with them.

bought as an experiment to cut down power usage.

Color was pretty good and brightness similar to Halogen.

However, the good stops there. The packaging has a picture same as listing, but the contents was an ugly black creature like a fly's eye with multiple large yellow LED's.

I inserted it into my fixture, which thankfully can support a bulb larger than standard, because this one is bigger and longer than the Halogen. It worked 1st day and died on the second day.

I don't use this particular fixture for more than a few hours at a time, either, it's not like I left it on all day and night.

Thankfully Amazon is accepting my return.
