This LED Bulb puts out the same light as a old 15watt bulb.

After using this LED for three hours I can put my hand on it and there isn't any heat.

I was looking for something in the 40watt output range and I found it for $9.85.

I ordered 5 of these LED Bulbs for over our dining room table. I must admit, it is a smart looking, well crafted unit. That being said, the light output of the 5 bulbs combined must equal a total of 1 conventional 40 watt bulb, maybe even a 30 watt. Our dining room overhead lamp has 5 frosted, open top globes so I figured they will work for sure being the globes are at a MAX 4 feet off the table. We're not talking 15 feet here..... Boy Was I wrong...

Again, it is a smart looking piece. However, if you are planning to use it for a serious replacement for incandescent light source, choose elsewhere..

Right now you can buy these at some Costco locations in three packs for about $17.

Pay close attention to the lumen output. If you put them in a fixture it may look bright, but it will not cast much light. They're more in the caliber of a nightlight or something along those lines. It also doesn't cast a very attractive light. For me they weren't worth it at the price I paid above. I couldn't imagine paying $11 for a single bulb when you can buy some excellent LED lights for $20 at your local home improvement store.

I recently purchased 2 of these bulbs, and replaced my (covered) outdoor porch bulb with one. The bulb ran for approximately 160 hrs (over a period of 20 or so days) before catching fire, and melting the outter cover of the bulb itself causing damage to my fixture in the process. Thank God my house didnt burn down! While I'm unsure if it was an isolated incident or not, I am unwilling to try again due to the danger. Users BEWARE!

I purchaed a 3 pack of these LEDs on sale with a manufacturer markdown to $15/3. The light, at first, appeard a good bargin. Within 3 hours one had failed and the second failed within 8 hours. Being an electrical engineer I took one apart to determine the failure mechanism. The actual LEDs themselves were fine but the control electronics failed producing a flickering light drawing little or no power and producing little light. I contacted Light of America customer service to get their take. They responded with 48 hours promising to have someone get in touch with me within 2 days. 7 days came and went and I again sent an e-mail and again no response. Their warrenty covers replacement if the failed unit(s) are returned with a proof of purchase and at my expens. The cost to return starts to equal to cost of the unit and it was like throwing good money after bad. I have used their CFL products in the past and the life expectancy has never come even close to that advertised. I would suggest saving your money and buy a more expensive and quality product. I am totally finished with a company that will not support it's products.
