The Sylvania Power Failure lights serve two purposes they are environmentally friendly night lights + they help light up your room in the case of a power failure.

What we like-

1They make nice flashlights they come in especially handy in spare bedrooms. If you have house guests these will be life savers

2Everything is LED so the lights pull less than 1 watt of electricity

2Auto-eye turns the lights off when there is sufficient light available.

3Built in rechargeable batteries serve as a backup in case of a power failure.

Final Verdict Great night lights that could be life savers if you have a power failure

I just received these units before Christmas following intermittent power outages from recent storms. I placed one in each bedroom and in the hallway and they worked perfectly during an island-wide power outage a few nights ago. The "flashlight" mode kicked on immediately following power loss and was a great help in locating flashlights without any stumbling or fumbling in complete darkness. The nightlight feature is a bit bright but you get used to it and the light sensor is excellent and very sensitive. I've had other nightlights that remained on all day from not being in direct sunlight but these units are very sensitive and only come on when they are supposed to. My only gripe with these lights is that their design (plug in the middle) takes up both outlets as others have mentioned. This might make it difficult for those of us with little free outlets or outlets with only 1-free plug. Other than that, we are very pleased with the peace of mind knowing we'll never be completely in the dark when power fails.

The concept of having a night light that would detect a power outage and automatically light up is the only reason for buying this product. Otherwise, you may as well buy one of the many others available. The internal battery did work upon testing (by unplugging the unit with the switch set to automatic). However, when retested a month later after purchase, it hasn't worked since. Now it's only good as an oversized outlet blocking LED nightlight. It's unfortunate that so many others are running into issues with this nightlight as well.

Honest reviews on Sylvania Power Failure Light with LED Technology - 3 Pack Set

My product looks exactly like this with the one exception of it saying GE instead of Sylvania. I assume that they are one in the same, perhaps one company making for both as the designs appear exact to one another. Ours worked great for the first several months with minor inconveniences: (1)The auto-on light is a bright green, which feels disruptive, so it is not a good choice for the bedroom, (2)The indicator light turns red when moving from "auto" to "on" in order to use the flashlight, which is also annoying, (3) The light takes up the space of two outlets, no matter where it's positioned--top, bottom, left or right. (4)The lantern top stays on all the time when on auto as the motion/light sensor does not seem to work; it may have during the initial months of use.

The biggest fault of this light is that it stopped working as a back-up. It only works when plugged in. There is no back-up functionality at all. Neither the LED flashlight nor candle light on top works when unplugged--no matter how long it had been previously charging. I suspect that the rechargeable batteries quickly get ruined from overcharging since this "emergency" light is designed to be plugged in all of the time. The unit is sealed, so the battery cannot be replaced. It's either that or some other type of malfunction. Remember, too, that the sensor either stopped working or never worked. It has become useless for what it was designed to do. It serves merely as a constant unpleasant nightlight that takes up two outlet spaces. I recommend caution before buying this product or any rechargeable light that's meant to be constantly plugged in. If purchasing, mind the warranty period and make sure yours works while you still can get refunded.

I just phoned GE. A company called Jascow manufactures this light for them. Likely, they manufacture it for Sylvania as well. See all the negative reviews under: "Sylvania 72032 LED Sensor Power Failure Night Light (POWER/FAILURE/LITE/BL/CLIP)" Jascow Products can be reached at 800-654-8483 or JascowProducts.com Please urge them to fix the faulty battery on this product. They'll likely need the 72032 number for Sylvania and 11096 for the GE make.

Works great. Provides light as a night light and also provides peace of mind. Put one in the bathroom in case the power goes out while you are in the shower you will still be able to see. Convenience of using it as a flashlight is great too, although I have not done this yet.

Light sensor on auto mode for the nightlight is very good. It only comes on when it is dark, unlike other nightlights that we have which stay on unless they are in direct sunlight.

Overall, this is a great product that I would hightly recommend.
