Being a photographer I was somewhat apprehensive about a battery powered picture lite and also concerned about the quality of the LED light on my photography. I ordered two lights for pictures that were slightly over 36" width. Here are my results: The quality of the light was superb and there were no hot-spots from the LED's. Putting it together was a snap and the remotes are a real convenience. This really solved the problem of hiding wires; maintenance should be easy. I recommend this cordless lite for the proper application. I am now placing an order for a third lite!

I bought four of of these lights for my artwork. The first one broke within minutes of putting in the batteries (4 D-cells.) A very thin section of plastic in the housing where the ball pivot is located cracked and broke rendering the unit useless. Thinking that it was operator error, that maybe I had over tightened something or moved the pivot too much, I was extremely careful on the next unit. This one went up without breaking and looks great and the remote and dimmer works wonderfully. The third unit was handled with extreme caution as well but it broke as soon as the batteries were in place....ditto for unit four! I was so upset. With a minor adjustment to this inner housing, maybe using a metal piece at this junction or at the very least, stronger, thicker plastic, this problem could be solved and this otherwise TERRIFIC concept item could get five stars across the board. God help the person who dusts this unit only to have it break at the slightest touch! I don't recommend ANYONE buy this (relatively expensive) item unless the flaw in the pivot housing is re-worked by the manufacturer. If they did, I'd be buying dozens of them! Such a disappointment!!!

Addendum: (two months later.....). Alright folks, I have new news on this product. After two months of lovely light on my large hall painting, I finally had to replace the batteries. Big mistake! I took down the painting and with the gentlest care removed the four "D" cell batteries, replaced them, and began to hang the painting back up when, SURPRISE, the pivot section broke! I am going to try replacing the plastic bushing with a metal bushing as per another reviewer's remedy for the problem. Again, this product would be great if this problem could be fixed. I'll let you all know if this solution works and how to do it yourself in another post.

This light is just perfect when you don't have access to an electrical outlet. I have a 56-inch frame with the actual artwork about 48 inches wide. This light washes over it well and looks fantastic since it's really not busy towards the edges anyway. It's meant to showcase the art, not light up the entire room. I agree with Ken... I too had to take it apart and tighten the nut in the center of the light since it was spinning when I inserted the batteries. This didn't bother me much, it was pretty easy to do. I chose to mount to the frame, not the wall. The remote made the sale because I refuse to climb on the couch to reach a switch. I have been looking for the right light at the right price for a long time, and I am very happy with my purchase. There are other lights out there which are wider, but use the same exact bulb as this one.

Arrived very quickly, easy to assemble. Does not cast quite as much light as widely as I had hoped, but far better than without any light.

The product "displays" as represented; however, the box holding the batteries, and to which the metal fixtures are attached, is plastic and not strong. Thus, the weight of the light arm can be too much. Fortunately, I was able to fix the break with a large washer I had to add support to the plastic. But this is not good for a product like this and of this price.
