I bought several LED bulbs to see what the current offerings are. This is my favorite, and I currently have it installed in my 4-bulb ceiling fixture in my home office. In that application, it is facing downward, and it is very very white and bright. It is brighter than the 60 watt incandescent bulbs in the neighboring sockets. But of course part of that is due to the fact that it is concentrating light in the end-on direction. The color is whiter as well. No real hint of blue as many LED bulbs have.
Finally, I tried dimming (I have a dimmable wall switch setup). It dims about the same rate as the regular bulbs, and as another reviewer commented, maintains its color as the other bulbs turn to red-orange.

Pro's:Very efficient, it puts out 500 Lumens of light while drawing only 11 watts.
Has a nice bright, and even white colored light.
Runs cool.
Cons:
The large metal base (acts as a heatsink for the LED's) does not fit in some light sockets such as certain recessed can lights.
The light is quite directional so it doesn't light up the walls much, mostly it shines straight down if used in a typical fixture. Yes, it's a lot of light though, so this can work great or not so great depending on your application.
It's expensive for a single light
Overall it's an interesting light and is one of the brighter and better 120V LED lights out so far.

I bought the bulb on a whim because I was trying to way of cutting costs and I hate the fluorescent bulbs. This one puts out quite a bit of light. The light is whiter than you might expect. The only two things that could impact you when you use it are the following. 1) The bulb is short than a normal flood light so understand that the light will not be flush with the ceiling it will be sunken in the hole by about 2 inches. For me that doesn't matter, as long as all the others you have are also sunken in who cares. 2) And this is the big problem, the bulb is really curved on the end where the glass is. That presents a problem when you are using a suction cup to change the bulbs that are very high on your ceiling. The suction cup will not stick to it, you are forced to get a ladder to change the bulbs... If you can live with that these are great. I have 15 foot ceilings in one part of my house and frankly I don't want to climb that high so for those lights I will just keep using the fluorescent flood lights... I wish they made this flatter so you could use a suction cup on them.Honest reviews on Dimmable LED Par38 Light Bulb Replaces Incandescent Halogen
Originally planned to use the LED bulb in can lights, but the heat sink around the outside is about a quarter inch too large for the light to fit into the can with the black inside-can plastic trim in place.Works great on track lights, produces a good "flood" of light, comes on instantly, and dims perfectly from 100% to 0%. Much much better than any CFL floodlight bulb I have tried.
